Three Words

Annabeth usually wasn't this impatient. Most of the time she was pretty patient. Well, as patient as a demigod with ADHD can be on a regular basis. However, today was an exception. She hadn't seen Percy in so long and they were finally going to spend some time together.

Looking down at her watch, she cursed quietly under her breath. He was supposed to be here oer five minutes ago but knowing her seaweed brain, he was running late. When was he not late?

Sighing, Annabeth wrapped her coat around her tighter, trying to warm herself up. Inside Camp's borders it was quite nice, ranging around sixty degrees fahrenheit whereas outside it was so cold her teeth were chattering.

She still couldn't believe that she was dating Percy Jackson. They weren't supposed to get along, much less date, but she couldn't bring herself to care. They were together and happy, and that's all that mattered. They'd been dating for three months and everything had been going smoothly, Annabeth couldn't help but wonder if they'd actually get the peaceful life they deserved, though she doubted it.

Now, she waited for the white van to pull up at Half-Blood Hill. She was so excited, she was practically bouncing on the balls of her feet. They'd be spending their three week winter break together at camp. It was really supposed to be two weeks but they both decided to leave school a week early. Everyone but mortals (excluding Sally) knew they deserved it.

Deep in thought, she almost didn't notice the white van pull up at the bottom of the hill and Percy stepped out of the back seat along with a couple other campers she didn't recognize. Annabeth grinned and started down the hill as Percy started his way up. Getting ipatient, she broke into a sprint, meeting him halfway up the hill.

Annabeth threw her arms around Percy's neck and connected their lips. He dropped his duffel bag on the floor to wrap his strong arms around her waist. She smiled into the kiss as his hand buried itself in her blonde curls.

They pulled away, smiling.

"Hey," Percy said a bit breathless.

"Hi," Annabeth replied, kissing him quickly once more.

"Eager much?" Percy joked and separated himself from her, grabbing his duffel bag, and shouldering it. He laced their fingers together as they started up the hill.

Annabeth laughed softly. "Sure," She replied sarcastically.

As they walked, they talked about school which was more like Annabeth rolling her eyes while Percy complained that she wasn't attending Goode with him. Instead she was enrolled in a proper boarding school- uniforms and all. No boys allowed! If she was being honest, she hated it, but her dad wasn't allowing her to transfer anytime soon.

They made it to his cabin and Percy opened the door for her, allowing Annabeth to walk inside. Percy stepped in after her and set his duffel bag on top of his bed, that was still unmade from last summer. Annabeth rolled her eyes.

Percy turned away from his bed and walked over to Annabeth, wrapping her in his arms before kissing her like there was no tomorrow. Annabeth responded eagerly to the kiss, wrapping one arm around his shoulders while the other went up to his head, her fingers curling around the black strands.

They broke away with a gasp, their foreheads pressing to each other.

"I missed you," Percy admitted, kissing her cheek, his lips lingering on her skin for a little bit.

Annabeth flushed, biting her lip. "I missed you too."

How did he manage to make her insides feel like mush, get her light headed, and turn her into a mushy feely type girl? She loved it but at the same time she hated it... but maybe the love part was stronger than the hate for once.

After the campfire, Percy walked Annabeth back to her cabin, their intertwined hands swinging between them. They walked in silence, relishing each other's company like one of them might disappear spontaneously.

He walked her up the front steps, pausing to face each other before they went inside. Neither of them said anything, the only sounds audible were the voices inside the cabin, monsters howling in the woods, and music coming from the Dionysus cabin.

Percy took in his girlfriend's appearance. She looked so beautiful standing before him- her grey eyes seemed to glow as they reflected the moonlight and her blonde hair tumbled down her shoulders in princess curls.

"You look beautiful," He told her, breaking the silence. He was sure that his cheeks were a bright red and he prayed to all the gods that the darkness covered it up.

"Thanks." Annabeth smiled softly. "Well, good night."

She was about to turn around and enter her cabin when he blurted, "I love you!"

Percy watched as Annabeth slowly turned around to stare at him, her eyes wide.

He instantly regretted saying it. They'd only been together for four months and maybe it was too soon but he was so sure about it. Those past four months he'd felt something swell in his chest everytime the thought of her crossed his mind.

A while back he'd had a sudden realization of how much he liked her, and it scared him quite a bit how strong he felt for her. He loved Annabeth Chase. And maybe he'd just ruined everything they had.

They stared at each other for a minute before Percy tried to cover it up, "I, uh, I mean, I don't- well, I do." He took a deep breath. "I do love you and it scares me, but that doesn't mean you have to say it back. I understand if it's too soon or if you don't want to. I completely understand because-"

She cut him off by grabbing the front of his shirt and crashing her lips to his. He kissed her back, stroking her cheek lovingly with his thumb.

A couple seconds later, Annabeth pulled away and gave him a small smile. "Good night, Percy."

"Good- good night," Percy replied. "I'll, uh, see you tomorrow?"

"Duh, Seaweed Brain." She rolled her eyes and opened the door, stepping inside. She gave him one last smile in which he returned, before shutting the door, leaving him outside on the doorstep.

Percy stood there for a couple seconds until he heard the sound of a harpy coming in his direction.

He turned around and ran for his cabin, opening the door, and slipping inside. Laying in his bed, staring at the ceiling, he couldn't help but feel excited for the upcoming three weeks.

Little did he know that it wasn't going to go as he planned.
