Losing Feelings?

Annabeth woke up to the sound of waves crashing up against the Argo II. She turned around to wrap her arms around her boyfriend but felt a cold and empty space where his body used to be laying. Kicking the blankets off, Annabeth stood and changed into her black sport shorts and one of Percy's sweatshirts.
Annabeth made her way quietly to the kitchen and dining room to eat breakfast then maybe her and Percy could...hang out in his cabin. She pushed open the doors and her eyes immediately landed on Percy who was talking excitedly about a movie to Piper who was sitting in her spot. Annabeth sighed and walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders from behind and kissing his cheek.

"Morning, Percy," She said, only to be ignored. She unwrapped her arms, shaking her head, and grabbed a plate off the counter. She placed two pancakes and two pieces of bacon on her plate. She grabbed a glass of water and sat down next to Jason.

"Morning, Annabeth." Jason swallowed a bite of his pancake.

Annabeth forced a smile. "Morning."

Jason's eyebrows scrunched together as he noticed the look on her face. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Annabeth shrugged, stabbing her pancake with her fork.

"I know something is bothering you," Jason said, taking a drink of his orange juice.

"Your girlfriend and my boyfriend," Annabeth told him, gritting her teeth. "He barely talked to me yesterday and he ignored me already today."

Jason nodded slowly. "Oh, yeah, Piper's the same way."

Annabeth side and ran her hand through her messy curls. "Is it normal to feel a little upset?"

"Yes." Jason stood to put his empty plate in the sink, followed by everyone else. "Go ask him to do something right now."

"Um, okay." Annabeth nodded, set her plate in the sink, and turned around to talk to Percy. "Percy!" He didn't turn around and kept walking with Piper towards the door. Annabeth rolled her eyes and speed wa;led over to him and grabbed his arm. "Percy." He kept walking and pulled his arm out of her grasp, closing the door as him and Piper walked into the hallway.

"Annabeth?" She turned around to see Hazel standing behind her shyly.

"What's up, Hazel?" Annabeth asked, smiling slightly.

Hazel wrung her hands in front of her. "Well, Frank, Jason, and Leo are going to spar and I don't really feel like doing that with all boys." Her cheeks colored a dark pink. "Do you want to hang out or something for a bit?"

Annabeth smiled and wrapped her arm around the younger girl's shoulder. "Sure. Let's go to my cabin."

"Okay, thank you," Hazel breathed as they made their way around the hallways until they finally found Annabeth's cabin. She opened the door and welcomed Hazel inside.

"Sorry if it's a bit messy." Annabeth apologized.

"Oh, no, don't worry about it." Hazel smiled, sitting down on the bed.

"There's just not a lot of time to clean anymore, is there?" Annabeth laughed lightly.

Hazel chuckled quietly. "Um, the reason I asked to hang out is because you really looked like you needed to rant during breakfast."

Annabeth rubbed the back of her neck. "Did I look that upset?"

"Yeah, kinda," Hazel replied.

"Oh." She bit her lip.

"So, what's going on?" Hazel asked.

Annabeth shrugged. "Percy and Piper just all of a sudden became really good friends and the only time Percy hasn't ignored me was last night when he had a nightmare."

"Maybe you should keep trying to talk to him." Hazel suggested.

"Yeah, I'll try tonight since we're all watching a movie right?"

"Yup. Leo's making popcorn." Hazel raised her eyebrows.

"Watch it all be burnt." Annabeth joked.
------

After changing into pajamas, Annabeth grabbed her grey fuzzy blanket and headed to the living room part of the Argo II. She walked inside to see Hazel sitting next to Frank on the love seat. Percy sat on the couch next to Piper while Jason sat on the other side of Piper. Annabeth sighed, she seemed to be doing that a lot lately, and sat down next to Percy.

"Percy?" Annabeth whispered as the movie was beginning to start. "Percy?"

"Sh, the movie's starting." Percy waved his hand at her.

Annabeth felt the urge to cry but not tears came which she was very thankful for. She wrapped herself up in a blanket and leaned her head against Percy's arm. She squeezed her eyes shut when she didn't feel his arm sneak around her or his head rest against hers.

In the middle of the movie, Annabeth stood up and announced that she was going to bed early tonight. She walked slowly back to her cabin, her mind not leaving the thought of Percy not having a care in the world about her today.

Annabeth turned the doorknob of her room and stepped inside, shutting the door quietly.
She slipped into bed, turning off the light, and closed her eyes and she fell into the realm of sleep.

-------
Annabeth was having a dreamless sleep but when she accidently kicked her blanket off in her sleep, the cold air in the room seeped through her skin and turned that once dreamless sleep into a slumber full of darkness.

She began to shiver and an occasional whimper would escape her lips. She was held captive by her past and couldn't escape. Every night, these memories came back to haunt her while she slept, resulting in very little sleep at all. The noises of screeching monsters and screams of Percy calling for help filled her ears. The scents of monster stench and the giants disgusting clothes filled her nose making her stomach clench. The taste of metallic blood filled her mouth and it poisoned her.

She tossed and turned in her sleep as the sights of monsters advanced towards her and started to attack as her eyes stayed focused on Percy, laying on the cold ground of Tartarus, a pool of blood surrounding him. Annabeth was too terrified to make a sound and then her eyesight went out, blinding her.

Annabeth gasped as her eyes shot open and she sat up, breathing heavily. Her skin was covered in a thin foam of sweat and her curls were matted to her forehead and neck.

Annabeth shakily stood up and opened her door, peering down the dark hallway. She could hear her heartbeat in her ears as she walked down the long, dark, and cold hallway to Percy's cabin.

She lifted a shaky fist and knocked quietly on his door, silent tears racing down her pale cheeks. No answer. She knocked again a little louder. Nothing. She placed her sweating hand on the cool doorknob and twisted it, opening the unlocked door. "Percy?" She called in a whisper as she stepped into his room. No answer. Annabeth moved over to his bed to see it empty. Her breath caught in her throat.

No, he is on this ship and still alive, she reassured herself. She made her way back to the living room part of the ship and walked into it. The TV was still on and the screen showed the menu part of the movie, waiting for someone to press play.

Hazel was laying down on the love seat, fast asleep, with a dog on her lap which was probably Frank. Leo was sprawled on the floor, the bowl of popcorn spilled around him and in his hair. Jason laid in a sleeping bag with Piper next to him on the floor.

Her eyes searched the room for Percy and found him sleeping on the couch, blankets piled on top of him. Annabeth shuffled over and shook his shoulder lightly. "Percy?" He mumbled in his sleep and turned his head to face the other side. She shook his shoulder again, harder. "Percy."

His eyes slowly blinked open and he squinted at her. "Hm?"

"I-I had a nightmare." Annabeth bit her lip, tears filling her eyes again.

Percy scotted over and opened the blanket for her. "Come here," He whispered.

Annabeth slid in beside him on the couch and buried her face in his chest, sniffling while Percy pulled the blanket back over them. He silently threw his right arm over her waist and laid his head on top of hers. He rubbed her back slowly up and down until she fell asleep again.

----
Annabeth blinked open her eyes and noticed she was no longer in Percy's embrace. She closed her eyes again until she heard Leo belt out that breakfast was ready. She moved the blankets off of her and threw her hair up in a messy bun.

Annabeth made her plate and again, sat down next to Jason because Percy was sitting next to Piper. She watched Piper and Percy laugh and talk about whatever they were talking about with a straight face. She pushed her plate away from her and laid her head down on her crossed arms that were resting on the table.

That seemed to catch Percy's attention and he frowned. 'Is she okay?' He mouths to Jason who just glares and pats Annabeth's back.
----

After breakfast Annabeth went up to Percy and Piper. "Percy, do you want to go spar or go to your cabin?" She asked hopefully.

He glanced down at her and rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm sorry, Annabeth, but Piper and me are already going to spar."

Annabeth nodded. "Oh, can I come with?"

"Sorry, closed lesson." Percy smiled sheepishly and dashed off to where Piper had gone.

She bit her lip and walked to Jason's cabin and once she got there she knocked urgently.

"Come in, Annabeth."

She pushed open the door and shut it when she stepped inside, and crossed her arms.  "I need to rant," She told Jason who was sitting on his bed

He gestured toward her. "Go for it."

"Okay, so first Piper and Percy become friends just like that?" She snaps her fingers. "And he just starts ignoring me and not having anytime for me? I used to ask him to do things and he would cancel any plans he had for me. I just don't understand. I mean, I get that him and Piper are friends now but to the point where he doesn't even talk to me? I had a nightmare last night and he only said 'come here' then I laid down next to him. He would usually stay up with me and calm me down and talk to me to get my mind off of it."

Jason's eyes widened and he nodded his head along with her. "Piper's been the same way but she comes around every night to hang out. She's just like that during the day." He shrugged. "Percy's just oblivious to what's happening."

"Yeah, he doesn't even sit next to me anymore or stop by my cabin everynight to say good night. He doesn't, okay this is going to sound awkward for you but, he doesn't kiss me good morning and he doesn't give me hugs. Am I clingy?" Jason shook his head. "I just don't know why he's acting this way." Her eyebrows scrunched together and she bit her lip. Her eyes calculating. Her thinking look. She gasped. "I-is he losing feelings?"

"Annabeth, I doubt it," Jason said, sadly. "Look, Annabeth-"

"But just think about it, Jason!" Annabeth cried.

"Okay, yeah, it kind of seems that way, right?" Jason said. "But, I don't think he's losing feelings. Just be patient with him. He can be stupid sometimes."

Annabeth pointed her finger at him. "That's
true."

Jason stood up and grabbed Annabeth's arm. "Now, come on. Let's go do something until tonight.
-----

The seven were hanging around in the living room. Frank and Hazel were laughing at Leo who was telling them his stupid but sometimes hilarious jokes. Percy was talking excitedly about Finding Nemo to Piper while she played with his hair. Jason was flipping his coin, turning it into a sword, over and over again out of boredom. Annabeth sat on a chair across from the couch where Percy and Piper were and tried reading her book but found herself glancing at Piper and Percy.

She looked back down at her book and noticed a tear mark on one of her pages and that's how she knew, she had enough. Annabeth slammed her book shut, stood, and glanced at Percy who was looking at her in confusion. Her eyes filled with tears again and she stormed out of the room.

Percy glanced over at Jason. "What's up with her?"

Jason glared. "Why don't you go and ask her. I'm sure she'd be happy to hear your voice directed towards her."

"Um, okay." Percy stood and walked out of the room.

Annabeth shut her door quietly after stepping foot into her room. She tossed her book back on to her bed and sat down next to it, putting her head in her hands. "I'm so stupid," She mumbled to herself. "To think that anyone would stay." She shook her head.

"Annabeth?" Percy called, knocking on her door.

"What?!" She snapped.

"Please, let me in," Percy asked.

Annabeth wiped her eyes and unlocked the door. "You can open it yourself."

"Geez, okay." Percy opened the door and closed it behind him, he came face to face with an angry and slightly depressed looking Annabeth. "What's up?"

"What do you mean?" She snapped.

"Why'd you storm out like that? What's on your mind?" He asked.

Annabeth took a deep breath and decided just to get to the point. "Are you losing feelings for me?"

Percy's eyes widened. "What? Why would you think that?"

"Oh, I don't know." Annabeth rolled her eyes. "Maybe it's because you haven't had time for me or barely have talked to me in two days! Maybe it's because you seem to prefer Piper over me lately! Maybe it's because I had a nightmare and all you said was; come here. You always say comforting words or hug me or stay awake with me until I can go back to sleep. Maybe it's because you seem to not even give a damn about me anymore!" She yelled at him, her eyes stinging with tears but none fell.

Percy stared at her for a minute before crushing her into a hug. He plowed into her so fast that she was caught off guard and almost fell backwards but she steadied herself. Percy tightened his arms around her and buried his face in the crook of her neck. Annabeth wrapped her arms around him in return and buried her face in his shoulder.

He rocked them back and forth comfortingly. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you." He caressed her cheek with his thumb.

"I know." She leaned into his hand which was resting against her cheek. "It's okay."

Percy shook his head. "A-and no, I'm not losing feelings and I'll never lose feelings for you." He pressed his lips to her forehead.

"B-but why wouldn't you talk to me or sit next to me?" Annabeth mumbled.

"I don't know but this will never happen again," Percy said. "I won't even be friends with Piper if you don't want me to."

"No! You can be friends with her." Annabeth smiled. "I just want you to know I'm here."
"Of course I know you're there, Wise Girl!" Percy exclaimed.

"I know, I know." Annabeth placed her hands on his chest and sliding them up to go around his neck. She leaned in and brushed her lips against his. "But, I want to spend time with you and you're the most important thing to me in the world and I don't want to lose you and today it felt like I was."

Percy leaned his forehead against hers. "You'll never lose me and if this happens again, which it won't, slap me."

Annabeth laughed. "Okay, Seaweed Brain."

"Now, what can I do to make it up to you?" Percy asked.

Annabeth tilted her head up. "Hm. Kiss me."

"I can, happily, do that." Percy leaned in and pressed his lips to hers in a passionate kiss.
"Annabeth pulled away after a couple minutes. "I love you."

"I love you, too." He smiled. "Never forget it."

Annabeth smiled. "Kiss me again." Percy smiled, shaking his head, then he kissed her again. She sighed into the kiss and pulled him closer to her.

Percy pulled away. "Now, come on, they're probably waiting for us."

Annabeth wrapped her arm around his waist and his arm went around her shoulders. "I missed you."

Percy laughed. "I missed you too, Annabeth."

"I ranted to Jason." Annabeth chuckled quietly.
Percy snorted. "So that's why he kept giving me the death glare. I thought it was because I was sitting next to Piper."

She shook her head. "No, he doesn't care." She looked up at him. "Piper stopped by his cabin to hang out after you two were done hanging out."

"Yeah, I- yeah no, I have nothing to say to that."

"You Seaweed Brain." She punched his shoulder lightly.

"I'm oblivious, I didn't know you were bothered by it." He held up his hands in defense before wrapping his arm around her shoulders again.

She shrugged. "Well, at least you're still mine."
"And I will be forever." He gave her a goofy smile. "Right?"

"Yes, Percy." She kissed his cheek as they entered the room. Percy lead her over to the empty couch and laid down. She smiled and laid down on his chest and his arms wrapped around her waist while hers went around his neck. He pressed a kiss to the top of her hair and from the corner of her eye she saw Jason give her a thumbs up from his spot next to Piper.

Right before she fell asleep during the movie she felt Percy kiss her head and mutter, "I love you."

"I love you too," She muttered back, her eyes closing.

"Don't ever worry about me losing feelings because it will never happen."

"Okay, Percy," She said before drifting off into a completely dreamless sleep

The End
