An Old Enemy
If Annabeth could freeze this moment, she would. Her and Percy were on Half Blood Hill enjoying each other's company. He was sitting back against Thalia's tree while Annabeth had her head in his lap and he was running his fingers through her blonde hair, untangling the knots of her curls. Her hand laid flat against his thigh next to her head and her thumb rubbed his jean covered leg while her other hand was loosely laced with Percy's hand that was thrown over her waist.
"I love you, Seaweed Brain," She said quietly, smiling.
Percy tugged on the hood to her grey sweatshirt. "I love you, too."
"Never leave me," She whispered, gripping his leg.
"Never." He shook his head, untangling their fingers and brushing his hand up and down her black jogger covered leg. "As long as you don't leave me."
She laughed lightly. "I won't." Percy leaned down and placed his lips against her blonde curls. He lifted his head back up and leaned it against the tree trunk. Annabeth rolled over so she was looking up at him and reached up, stroking his chin with her thumb as she smiled.
"What?" He asked and she shrugged, letting her hand fall back down to rest on top of his hand that was now laying on her stomach.
"Nothing." She rubbed her thumb across his knuckles lovingly. "I like your sweatshirt though." She tugged on the sleeve of his white swim hoodie.
He pointed a finger down at her. "No, you're not taking this one too."
"You're joking." She smiled up at him and he shook his head at her with a straight face.
"You're not going to let your girlfriend of two years that you love so much wear your hoodie?"
"Nope." He crossed his arms, shaking his head.
She suddenly sat up and crossed her arms over her chest. "You're serious?"
"Yup." She pouted which caused him to laugh.
"I let you wear a hoodie of mine and I never get it back."
"But-" He interrupted her by grabbing her hand and yanking her toward him and pressing his lips to hers.
"No," He muttered against her lips.
She shoved him away after a few seconds. "Fine." She layed back down on his lap and they resumed their previous position; her head in his lap and her hand next to her head while his right hand ran through her hair while his other hand was thrown over her waist and laced with her fingers.
They laid there in a peaceful silence until- "Annabeth!"
She groaned and sat up, letting go of Percy's hand. "What?!"
"Wow, sorry, Miss Crabby Pants," A random Iris kid said, holding his hands up defensively.
"I'm not crabby," Annabeth grumbled.
"You kind of are." Percy shrugged and back away when she punched his arm.
"Shut up!" She snapped.
Percy gestured to her jokingly. "See what I have to deal with everyday?" The Iris spawn laughed as Annabeth whacked the back of Percy's head. "Ow!"
Annabeth ignored him and stood up. "What is it?"
"Well-"
"Hurry up, I'm enjoying time with my boyfriend." She jabbed her thumb towards Percy.
"Okay, so-"
"Just cut to the chase!" She fisted her hands and Percy snorted at her bad pun. She gritted her teeth and turned around. "Shut. Up. I didn't mean to."
Percy raised his hands in defense. "I didn't say anything."
"Okay, what?" She asked the Iris kid much calmer.
He shook his head at her, laughing quietly. "Someone sent me to get you because someone is apparently down by the lake, wanting to talk to you."
Annabeth raised an eyebrow. "Okay..." She held out her hand for Percy, he took it, and she pulled him up. "Let's go." They started to walk down the hill when the young demigod interrupted.
"They said he wants to talk to you alone." The Iris kid fidgeted with his fingers as he stood there awkwardly.
"He?" Percy tightened his grip on Annabeth.
"It's okay, Percy." Annabeth smiled and moved away from him. "Go find Jason."
Percy rubbed the back of his neck before giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Okay, be careful."
"I will," She told him then she ran down the hill and to the lake.
Annabeth looked around quietly until she spotted someone sitting on a bench next to the sand. He had sandy blonde hair and he seemed to be about a couple years older than her. He wore a fresh Camp Half-Blood sweatshirt and jeans. His head was turned downwards and he seemed to be looking at something. Annabeth slowly started to walk towards him cautiously. "Uh, excuse me?" She asked and watched as his shoulders stiffened and he slowly turned around. She gasped and took a step backwards as she noticed the jagged scar that went down the side of his face. "Luke?"
He smiled shyly, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. "Hey, Annabeth."
"What?" She breathed. "How-what-why-"
"I asked Hades to let me go." Luke looked down at his hands. "He brought me to camp this morning and Chiron let me in. As to why? I missed you."
"But-" She shook her head.
"Come sit and I'll explain," Luke said.
Annabeth sat down next to him, keeping her hand of her dagger that was strapped to her around the waist. "Okay, how and why are you here?"
Luke ran a hand through his messy hair. "I realized I'd been down there for two years and I was lonely and I missed you and Thalia. But mostly you. I told Hades I wanted to come back and he asked why I should be able to." He took a deep breath. "I basically said I was sorry for everything and I miss everyone so he let me back. He told Chiron and he welcomed me back into camp."
"Oh." Annabeth nodded, looking away awkwardly.
"Didn't you miss me?" Luke asked.
"I-uh-I mean yeah." She nodded and bit her lip because she really hadn't thought about him much since her and Percy started dating. Of course there were those days where she'd think what life would be like if Luke hadn't died and he was still here but not evil. It always ended with Annabeth liking him not here because if he was, would her and Percy be together? She couldn't bare the thought of not being Percy Jackson's girlfriend and that spot being filled in by some other girl. "How long will you be staying again?"
"Well, until I die again." Luke shrugged while smiling at her.
She swallowed down biting comments. "Does Thalia know your here?"
"Yeah." Luke nodded. "I Iris messaged her. She was pretty happy but lectured me until Artemis called her back."
"Yeah, she's a hunter now." Annabeth rubbed her arm.
"She told me." Luke looked around. "It's nice to back and it's good to see you again."
Annabeth nodded and forced a small smile. "Are you staying here? As in, living here?"
"Yeah, I'm staying in the Hermes cabin again," Luke said then looked at her with bright blue eyes. "I really missed you, Annabeth. I am so sorry for what happened. Could we start over?"
"Um, yeah, I guess we could start over,"
Annabeth said. "What do you mean by that though?"
His cheeks colored a light pink again and he reached over, taking his hand in his cold one. Not at all like Percy's warm calloused hands. "I mean, we both liked each other." He looked into her wide eyes. "We could become something more."
Annabeth pulled her hand away from his. "Luke-"
His smile turned into a frown. "You don't have to answer right away. You can think about it. I know that I did some bad-"
"No, Luke," Annabeth said and he looked back at her. "I have a boyfriend."
"Oh." He looked down at the ground. "A-are you sure? We've known each other longer."
"That doesn't really matter, Luke." Annabeth stood up and stuffed her hands into her pockets. "I'm closer to my boyfriend than I ever was with you."
Luke nodded and stood and his eyes flickered to hatred but in a play second they were back to normal. "I'll be a good boyfriend, I promise." He grabbed her wrists and bent down to look into her grey eyes. "Just give me a chance."
She shook her head and tugged her wrists out of his light grasp. "I'm sorry but I love my boyfriend."
"Well who is he? I'm sure I could take him in a fight for you," Luke said, proudly perfecting his posture. "Is he forcing you into any of this?"
"What?" Annabeth processed what he said. "No!"
"Annabeth, I really like you and I came back for you." He held her hand.
"Luke, I'm sorry but I have a boyfriend and-" She took a deep breath before shaking her head.
"What?" He pressed. "You can tell me."
She let go of his hand. "-and after everything in the past that happened, I don't know if I can fully trust you yet, Luke."
"I changed, Annabeth." Luke looked into her eyes. "I changed, I promise."
"Luke, you promised me family too and did you keep it?" She shook her head sadly. "No, you didn't." Her voice cracked at the end.
"And I regret it, so much!" Luke raised his voice slightly and she jumped back a little. "Sorry."
Annabeth sighed. "It's fine, but I'm sorry, I love my boyfriend and we're very happy. He's never hurt me or betrayed me. He stuck with me through thick and thin." She ran her hand through her blonde curls.
"I came back to be with you. Just like you wanted when we were younger," Luke siad.
"Exactly, Luke." Annabeth fidgeted with her hands. "When I was younger I wanted to be with you in that way but as I grew up I realized I only liked you as a brother. I mean what I said at the Empire state."
"Please, just think about it, Annabeth, please." Luke asked then muttered, "I'm sure I'm much better than this boyfriend."
"Fine, but my answer will remain the same." Annabeth turned to leave and left Luke at the beach.
Luke rolled his eyes and smirked as she ran back to Camp. "Fine, let me just find out who this boy is and well, I'll have Annabeth in no time."
-----
"Piper!" Annabeth shouted, running over to her friend who was sparring with Jason in the arena.
Piper said something to Jason then sheathed her dagger. "Hey, what's up?"
"Have any of you seen Percy?" Annabeth asked impatiently.
Piper nodded. "He's sitting on his porch swing." She snorted out a laugh. "Porch swing."
"Don't make fun of it." Annabeth chided. "He loves that thing."
"Whatever, go find your boyfriend." Piper lightly punched her arm.
"Thanks, Pipes!" Annabeth called and ran to the Poseidon cabin but slowed to a walk as she neared it. "Percy?"
Percy looked up from where he was sitting and saw Annabeth standing next to the swing, biting her lip. "Hey!" He stood and noticed the tears pooling in her grey orbs. "What's wrong?" He placed his hand against her cheek and she leaned into it.
"The person who-" She sniffled and wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in his chest.
"Annabeth?" Percy wrapped his arms around her. "Who had to talk to you?"
"L-luke's back." Annabeth cried into his chest, her voice a bit muffled. "He a-asked Hades to bring him back and he did once Luke apologized."
Percy tightened his arms around his girlfriend and leaned his cheek against her head. "It's going to be okay, Wise Girl." He pressed a kiss to the top of her head once she stopped crying. "We'll figure something out. As long as we're together."
"I love you."
"I love you, too." Percy smiled. "Now, what did he talk to you about?"
She glanced up worriedly at him. "Well, he said he came back for me. He wants to become a couple."
"But you're mine!" Percy whined.
"I know that, Seaweed Brain!" She hit his chest playfully. "He doesn't know that."
"Did you tell him?" Percy raised an eyebrow and sat down on his porch swing, pulling Annabeth down onto his lap.
"I said that I have a boyfriend," Annabeth told him, leaning her head back on his shoulder as his arms wrapped around her waist. "I didn't tell him who though."
"Why not?" Percy asked, pushing the swing back and forth with his foot.
"He said he would fight my boyfriend for me," Annabeth said. "I don't want you to get hurt. I don't trust Luke enough to tell him my personal life."
"He can't fight me." Percy scoffed.
Annabeth gave him a pointed look. "He may still have some of Kronos in him. If he does, Percy, he's still a lot stronger than you."
"That's true but you could have told him." Percy shrugged. "If he beats me up, he gets sent back to Hades." He raised an eyebrow at her. "Unless you don't want him to stay."
Annabeth's eyes widened. "Gods, no, Percy!" She pressed her lips to his and felt the familiar spark that ignites in her stomach whenever they kiss. "I love you!"
"I never said you didn't."
"I don't want to be with anyone other than you, Percy." She kissed his cheek.
"Good." Percy smiled.
Annabeth buried her face into the crook of his neck. "I just don't want you to get hurt." She mumbled.
"I know," Percy said, hugging her tighter. "No come on, it's dinner time."
They stood up and hand in hand walked to the pavilion.
Once they neared Annabeth let go of his hand. "I'm going to sit with the Athena table so Luke doesn't suspect anything, okay?" Percy just nodded and they parted ways.
When Annabeth sat down her siblings gave her questioning looks. "What?"
"Why aren't you sitting with Percy?" Malcom asked.
Annabeth swallowed a bite of olive pizza. "Luke is back and he likes me." He siblings nodded for her to continue. "I told him I have a boyfriend and he said he would fight him for me."
"He would fight Percy?" Malcom snorted.
"He doesn't know my boyfriend is Percy," Annabeth stated.
"Oh." Malcom nodded.
She raised an eyebrow. "You guys are taking the Luke situation very lightly."
Her sister, Alena, shrugged. "We already knew he was back."
"Oh, you did?" Annabeth asked and her siblings nodded.
"Yeah," Alena nodded. "He came up to us asking where you were before dinner. We didn't know so we all just shrugged after getting over our shock."
Annabeth nodded slowly. "Ah."
"Excuse me, Campers!" Chiron bellowed from the middle of the pavilion, Luke standing next to him. Whispers erupted throughout the small building. "Silence, Children!"
"What's he doing back here?" Someone yelled from the Aphrodite table shouted.
Chiron ignored the camper. "Yes, Luke Castellan, the Hero, is back!" Chiron exclaimed. "He had asked Hades for forgiveness and the gods decided to let him come back. We will respect this young gentleman and treat him as if nothing had ever happened."
A few people clapped and Chiron left, leaving Luke to himself. After he made himself a plate, Annabeth saw him walking towards her from the corner of her eye. "Annabeth!"
"Hey, Luke." She forced a smile.
Something flickered in his eyes. "I'm sure your boyfriend is threatening you into this relationship. Just tell me who he is and I'll take care of him for you." He placed a curl behind her ear and she flinched away.
"He's not forcing me into anything, Luke." Annabeth rolled her eyes exasperatedly. "Now please, just leave me alone."
"Fine." He snapped then shook his head. "Sorry." Luke walked away to his table, bumping into Percy's shoulder as he walked by to throw away his garbage.
"Weird," Alena muttered. "Keep an eye on him guys."
Malcom nodded. "Something isn't right with him."
"You guys saw it too?" Annabeth asked.
"The flicker and personality change?" Alena asked. "Uh, yeah!"
"Okay.." Annabeth made eye contact with Percy and he nodded, getting the message. 'Stay clear. Keep an eye on him'.
------
The sun had already set and it was time for the campfire. Annabeth told Percy to head over there before her so she could go and talk to Piper and Jason about Luke. "So, yeah, keep an eye on him."
"Got it." Piper nodded.
Annabeth smiled and started towards the amphitheater where the other demigods was gathering around, already singing about their grandma getting ran over by Apollo's chariot. She looked around for Percy and finally spotted him, standing around like an idiot, looking for a place for them to sit. Annabeth rolled her eyes and ran over to him, jumping on to his back.
"Woah there, Wise Girl!" He laughed, slipping his hands underneath her knees so she wouldn't fall. "Where should we sit?"
"They're about to play a slow song." Annabeth slid off his back and spun him around so they were facing each other. "We could dance and then worry about a place to sit."
"Sounds like a good idea." Percy smiled and kissed her forehead. "Let's-"
"Good night, Campers! As you know, I'm Will Solace and we will be playing a slow song!" Campers cheered. "Who will be our first couple to be dancing with us?
Percy was about to pull Annabeth over but Piper and Jason beat them to it. "Ah! Piper and Jason, also known as Jasper!" The campers clapped and cheered or wolf whistled.
"Percy, come on." She tugged on his arm.
"I'm coming." Percy laughed, following his impatient girlfriend.
"Percy and Annabeth is our next couple that will be dancing." Will announced and
Annabeth prayed to all the gods that Luke didn't hear. She didn't need Percy getting hurt tonight. "Also known as Percabeth. Did you know that a few months ago marked their two year anniversary?"
"Will, shut up and play music!" Annabeth snapped, causing laughter to erupt from the crowd of demigods.
"Yes, ma'am!" Will saluted her and him his siblings started playing a slow song with their instruments.
Percy wrapped his arms around her waist and her arms went around his neck, pulling him closer so their bodies were pressed against each other. Percy smiled down at her as they swayed to the slow music and Annabeth smiled back. "You look really cute in sweatpants and a hoodie." He pinched the black fabric of her joggers and tugged gently.
"Hm, thanks." She laughed quietly. "I'll wear them more often."
"You really should." Percy nodded.
She shook her head and pressed their foreheads together. "You know, I want to be with you forever, right?"
"Yes, I know," Percy replied.
"And you know that I want to build something permanent?" She asked, looking into his sea green eyes.
"Yes." Percy pulled his forehead away from hers and raised an eyebrow.
Annabeth blushed and looked down at the letters on his sweatshirt. "We're in college and in a couple years, I want that permanent something."
"Are you trying to hint something?" Percy asked, pretending he didn't know what she meant.
"I-" She shook her head. "Never mind."
"No, tell me." He just wanted to hear her say it.
"You're oblivious." He could see the hurt in her eyes. "I thought maybe that you would understand what I was saying." She leaned her head on his shoulder and continued dancing with him.
"Annabeth?" She didn't answer. "Annabeth."
"Hm?" She fisted her hand in his hair near his neck and tried to pulling him closer.
"I know what you're talking about and I want that in a few years too," Percy said.
"Really?" Annabeth looked at him.
"Of course." He smiled. "You just have to be patient."
"Okay." Annabeth nodded and kissed him right as the song ended.
------
What they didn't know was that Luke was watching Percy dance, talk, and kiss Annabeth. Something in his stomach churned whenever Percy would make Annabeth smile, laugh, or pull him closer to her. That should be him with her. Not Percy. When Luke saw Percy and Annabeth together when they were younger, they seemed to hate each other. Again, something flickered in Luke's eyes and he smirked and Annabeth said something to Percy, pecked him on the lips, and ran out of the amphitheater.
----
"Where are we sitting?" Annabeth asked, lacing her fingers with his.
"We can sit over there by Jason and Piper but I forgot the blanket," Percy said, looking down at his girlfriend who was staring back up at him with raised eyebrows.
"Way to go, Seaweed Brain." She rolled her eyes and pecked his lips. "I'll go get it."
"Okay, be careful." He squeezed her hand and watched as she stepped back from him, ready to run out of there.
"You worry too much!" She called over to him before she exited the amphitheater.
Percy chuckled and shook his head, turning around to go sit by Jason when a familiar voice called out to him. "Percy Jackson." Percy turned around and saw Luke walking towards him with a smile on his face. "It's nice to see you!"
"Hey, Luke." Percy smiled.
"How's it going?" Luke asked, now standing in front of him.
Percy shrugged. "Pretty good. It's been peaceful lately."
"Good, good." Luke nodded and he decided to bring it up. "So, I saw you and Annabeth dancing. Are you two a thing?"
"Yeah." Percy smiled. "She's my girlfriend."
"Oh." Luke's eyes widened. "You're very lucky."
"I am." Percy nodded.
Luke crossed his arms. "How long have you
two been...dating?"
"As you heard Will say, two years," Percy replied.
"Oh, right." Luke facepalmed. "Silly me."
Percy looked around awkwardly. "I heard that you like Annabeth?"
"Yes, I do." Luke glared. "And you stole her from me."
"Woah, there, Dude." Percy put his hands up. "I didn't steal anything from anyone."
"You two used to hate each other and she used to like me." Luke glared. "Are you threatening her?"
"No!" Percy exclaimed. "I would never threaten Annabeth."
"Why else would she be with you when she could be with me?" Luke asked.
"Oh, I don't know." Percy shrugged. "I didn't betray her or hurt her the way you did. You promised her that you'd always be there for her. She already was wounded because of her home life and you only made that wound hurt more! I am the one of the only ones who have stayed with her through everything. Clarrise could even stay in Annabeth's life and you couldn't." Percy took a deep breath. "So if you even think for a second that she would leave me for you, then you're going to be thinking for a long time."
"I did what I had to do." Luke gritted his teeth. "I had to do what I did."
"No, you didn't have to." Percy glared. "You shouldn't have abandoned her like you did. Now, leave us alone."
When Percy wasn't expecting it, Luke had punched him. "I did what I had to do!" Luke punched Percy hard in the stomach.
"You said you changed!" Percy held his stomach. "Nothing about you changed."
Luke threw his fist ad Percy's mouth, busting his bottom lip open. "Say that again!"
"You didn't change, Luke." Percy could taste blood. "You tried but you couldn't and I'm not going to fight you back."
"Why won't you fight me back?" Luke shouted, pushing Percy over.
"Because I'm not like you, Luke and you were once a friend." Percy looked up at him. "I'm not going to hurt a former friend. Evil or not."
"That just makes you a coward!" Luke kicked Percy in the stomach.
"I'm not a coward," Percy said and listened to the shouts of other campers ranging around:
"Get off of him, Luke!"
"You didn't change!"
"Go back to Hades!"
"Percy's not a coward! He's done more than you've ever done!"
"Fight! Fight!"
"Fighting me isn't going to get you Annabeth!" Percy groaned as he was kicked in the stomach.
"I don't care about her!" Luke bellowed, his voice now deep. "I'm getting revenge on you, Percy Jackson!"
"I'm not fighting you," Percy said calmly, groaning as Luke kicked him again.
"Hurts your stomach, huh?" Luke asked.
Percy, being the Seaweed Brain he is, nodded. "Yeah, a lot more than my face."
Luke smirked and got on all fours, and started punching him in the stomach. "You want to fight back now?"
"No." Percy coughed. "I won't fight you!"
Shocker, he was punched and kicked again.
-----
As Annabeth neared the amphitheater she heard shouting so she started to run and entered the building. She looked around and saw that everyone was looking at something. She followed their eyes and saw Percy laying on the ground with Luke punching and kicking him. "Oh my gods." She dropped the blanket and bolted over to the two boys.
"Fight me, Coward!" Luke shouted.
"No!" Percy shouted back and was punched in the stomach again.
Annabeth grabbed Luke's shoulders and tried to pull him back. "Luke, stop! Get off him!" She screamed.
"Stay out of this!" Luke swung his fist out and struck Annabeth on the side of the head and she felt a droplet of blood trail down the side of his face. She ignored the pain and tried to pull him off of Percy but that resulted in her getting punched in the same spot.
"Someone! Go get Chiron!" She shouted and she saw Piper rush outside and come back in later with Chiron.
Annabeth sighed in relief. "Chiron! Get Luke off Percy! Please!"
"Settle down, Child." She patted her shoulder and turned to the crowd of demigods.
"Silence!" The amphitheater grew silent for all except the two boys on the ground. Chiron bent down and picked up Luke effortlessly.
"Put.. me down!" Luke shouted.
"Oh, no."Chiron shook his head, throwing Luke on to his back. "Let's go Iris message Hades." He galloped to the other side of the amphitheater and Annabeth rushed over to her boyfriend.
"Percy?" She asked, kneeling down next to him. He held his stomach in pain and tried to reach out to her but turned and started to dry heave "Oh, Percy." Annabeth rubbed his back while he vomited into the dirt covered ground.
He took in a deep breath and collapsed onto Annabeth, his head in her lap. "Wise Girl?"
"Hey." She smiled and brushed his hair back and her eyes trailed down to his mouth. "Your lip! What did he do to you!?"
"You're worried about my lip?" He laughed lightly but then winced. "You should be worried about my stomach."
"Your stomach?" Annabeth asked and lifted his head off her lap, gently setting it down onto the ground. She lifted up his sweatshirt and gasped at hat she saw. Bruises all over his stomach, his once golden skin was now a dark shade of black and blue. "Oh my gods. Will!" She screamed and he ran over.
"What?"
"Go get a stretcher!" Annabeth shouted, pulling down Percy's sweatshirt, covering his bruises, and going back to placing his head on her legs.
"It's already here." Will said, gesturing to the other Apollo campers rolling i a white stretcher, and Annabeth helped him gently set Percy down on it. She grabbed his hand and held on tightly as they rolled him to the infirmary.
"Annabeth?" Percy whispered. "I'm tired."
"No, Percy, stay awake okay?"Annabeth rubbed his hand with her thumb as they rolled him in through the doorway. "They're going to take a look at your stomach and give you some ambrosia and nectar." She helped lift him onto a bed.
"Okay, Annabeth, can you take his sweatshirt off?" Will asked.
"Sure." Annabeth sat next to Percy, helping him sit up and she slipped off his sweatshirt. "There." She laid Percy back down against the pillows.
"Okay, yeah, Kayla, go get some ambrosia and nectar!" Will shouted, digging through a drawer for a wrap to put around Percy's torso. Kayla came back and handed Will the gods' food. "Thanks. Annabeth, feed him once square of ambrosia and one gulp of nectar. Kayla and I will be in the other room getting some medicine and wrap."
"Okay." Annabeth did as he said and she watched as the bruises only faded slightly.
Will and Kayla walked back in and smiled. "Thanks." Annabeth stepped back as Kayla fed her hurt boyfriend some medicine then Will started wrapping up his torso. "Okay, Annabeth, he'll be asleep until tomorrow morning." He squinted at her head.
"What?" She asked.
"You're bleeding."
"I'm fine." Annabeth shrugged and sat down on a chair next to Percy. "I'll wait for him. You guys go get some sleep."
"Alright, holler if you need us," Will informed her.
Annabeth smiled and laid her head down next to Percy and closed her eyes.
----
She woke up to someone poking her head. "What?"
"My stomach hurts, Wise Girl." She heard Percy whine.
"I bet." She smiled and stood to grab some ibuprofen. "You got beat up pretty bad last night."
"Oh yeah." He looked down, his cheeks coloring.
"It's okay, Percy." She handed him a bottle of water and ibuprofen. "You did nothing wrong. You didn't fight back even though I know you wanted to and I'm proud of you for that."
"Proud of me?" Percy muttered, swallowing the three orange pills. "For what?"
"For not making yourself look bad." Annabeth kissed his cheek.
"Oh," Percy said. "I'm cold."
Annabeth picked up his sweatshirt from the chair she hung it on and helped him slip his head and arms through it. She pulled the blanket up to his chin. She frowned as she watched Percy's eyes well with tears and his hand reach up and rub his thumb gently over her wound.
"You're hurt," He stated, letting his arm rest back by his side.
"I'm okay." Annabeth brushed a tear off his cheek.
"Did Luke punch you?" She nodded. "It's my fault you're hurt. If I would have kept my mouth shut on why you wouldn't date him then you wouldn't be hurt."
Annabeth shrugged. "On the bright side, Luke's back in the Underworld."
"That's good." Percy agreed.
Annabeth pressed her lips to his and Percy buried his hand in her curls. She pulled away and smiled, her eyes shining. "We'll be okay, remember?"
Percy nodded and connected their lips together before breaking it a few seconds later. "As long as we're together." She nodded a kissed him again.
The End
