One more month

Annabeth's POV

It's been roughly a month since the fight at school. My face is 100% better, and bruise free. Emily and I have been discussing graduation plans. She wants to come to camp for the first time and meet mine and her siblings. We have exactly one month of classes left. Our school gets out earlier than most but that's because it starts sooner. I was sitting on the couch with my laptop ready. I had just finished ordering my cap and gown and everything was situated. I had two back up plans if things didn't work out. It was pretty dark out and I hadn't realized how late it was. I had sent Emily out to get pizza a few minutes ago. I heard the scraping of the key as it entered the lock and soon Emily was standing in the open door. She through the door open rushing inside.

"Hot! Hot hot hot hot!" She growled. I quickly followed her to the kitchen where she through the pizza on the table and started jumping around waving her hands. She stopped after a few seconds, inspected them, and then glared at the pizza box. "Stupid food." She mumbled. Suddenly, as if for the first time she realized I was there.

"What?! The pizza was hot!" I laughed, quickly grabbing a plate. I plopped down in my chair and reached for the box. Quick as a flash she snatched it away and carried it to the other end.

"Hey!" I protested. She winked, opened the box and grabbed a slice.

"I get first dibs." She smirked. I rolled my eyes.

"And why is that?" I asked. She plopped her feet up on the table and leaned back.

"Because tonight we eat like kings!" She declared, pointedly taking a bite of her pizza.

"It's just pizza." I said reaching for the box again. She rolled her eyes scooting it away.

"Nope. It is not just pizza! It's special. We got double pepperoni because the cashier thought I was cute. That's why I get first dibs." She leaned forward passing me the box and I flipped open the lid. All I saw was pepperoni. Pepperoni everywhere.

"Told you we would eat like kings." She smirked. I helped myself, and we ate a very pepperoni dinner.

The next day classes went by slowly, same with the week after that. Time was ticking away and there wasn't much to do. We did finals last month and I just got my scores back. High A's in everything. No surprise. I had scored the highest in the school with three other kids right behind me. Emily was fifth overall. Once class had gone out I decided to go for a walk. Our school had a thin ring of trees that circled it so I took my book satchel , and headed for the shade. The trees cast different types of shadows about, and I couldn't help but make shapes with them. I walked for a while with no destination in mind. I stumbled across a couple, avidly making out.

"PDA!" I called interrupting them before continuing on my way. I found a nice little clearly tucked away in the thickest part of the trees. The shade felt nice and I rummaged through my satchel to find a book. Once I found the one I wanted I settled down against the trunk of the tree and began to read.

I read of sword fights, demons, a girl with red hair that oddly reminded me of Rachel, a love triangle, an enemy thought to be dead, and of course a kidnapping. I had read for what seemed like only minutes, until I read my page number. I immediately panicked. The sun was already setting, and it was rather cold. Darkness was thicker in the trees and I found it hard to see. I shoved my book away and started on the path leading back. Slowly, I felt my way back to the entrance of the dormitories. About to swing open the door ,and head to the elevator, an extremely cold gust of wind came. Goosebumps prickled my skin and a shiver ran through my body reaching my bones. I frowned. The night was warm, why was I so cold, why was there a breeze? Quickly opening the door I hurried inside. As the door shut behind me another cool breeze of air chilled me to my bones. Only this was different. I heard a faint voice. Words barely echoing in my ear as the breeze left.

"Soon dear, very soon." I shook my head and the voice left. I tried to shrug away what happened. It was probably my imagination. That happened sometimes. Instead of taking the elevator I rushed up the stairs. Thundering through the door I dumped my stuff into my room. Emily's door was shut tight and her lamp was on. Shaking my head I headed to the shower. I was not going to bother her with some stupid, irrational, fright. Locking the door I undressed, and turned the water on. I stood in the burning water trying to relieve myself of the cold. My body was numb. After minutes of scalding water I finally felt warm. Stepping out I through on my pajamas and headed back into my room. I shut the door and flicked off the light. All I needed was sleep. As I slowly drifted off to sleep tucked under the sheets I heard it. A quiet, yet malicious laugh. I sat up looking around and I felt it. The temperature in the room dropped. Cold pressed against my skin and I fought hard not to panic. In the midst of my fear I heard the familiar voice with the familiar word. It echoed in my mind, like a thousand thoughts. One word.

"Soon."
