Annabeth's POV

I woke up to blinding white lights. I blinked away the blurriness. Where was I? Then I remembered, Alex. I cursed silently in my mind. I rolled over to see Percy passed out in an extra cot and Emily sleeping in a chair. Her face was bandaged and I wondered what had caused it. Suddenly I realized that you were only ever in a hospital if something was wrong with you. I looked down and saw that my leg was covered in a bloody bandage. Next I realized my arm was wrapped in a cast. It was alternating grey and green, which made me guess that Percy asked for the colors. Then I remembered the snapping noise. Great I broke my arm. I heard Percy squirming and eventually he sat up. Taking in his surroundings he realized that I was awake.

"Annabeth?" I smiled.

"Hi!" I whispered waving. He walked over to me rubbing sleep from his eyes. Pulling up another chair he sat next to my bed holding my hand.

"You okay? That was a nasty fall." I nodded showing him my cast. He laughed.

"Yeah I guess you realized I picked the colors." I nodded. I pointed to Emily.

"What happened to her?" Percy laughed and had a huge smile on his face. He turned back giving me a quick kiss before replying.

" I'll let her tell you. It was pretty amazing. I feel well...kind of proud." I smiled. He was a big softy no matter how hard he tried to deny it.

"Do you know when I'm discharged?" I asked. He frowned thinking for a second. I laughed. "It means when we're leaving!" He scowled. His eyebrows knitting together. "Percy! Come on don't take it to heart! My wittle seaweed bwain." He laughed at the end when I used my little baby voice. It was cute when he didn't understand.

He quickly stole a kiss on my cheek. Hearing rustling from the corner of the room I turned to see Emily moving. She winced when she tried to roll onto her side. She opened one of her beautiful blue eyes, blinked, and sat up. I watched as she yawned and looked around. Her eyes rested on me and she smiled.

"Nice cast." She smirked. I stuck out my tongue.

"Yeah well, what's up with you?" She stretched standing up.

"Nothing really." She limped over to me in her cast and slightly cringed when her arm brushed her left side. She didn't seem to notice the bandage around the right side of her face.

"Nothing? Well, I guess there's nothing new here except for the bandages on your face, and your side." She smirked again. She walked over and sat on the opposite side of the bed.

"Well, I did take care of some business." I frowned.

"Go on." I said. There was a twinkle in her eyes and I could tell she was enjoying my suspense.

"Hmmm. I'll start with you just finishing the race." She launched into the story with Percy adding bits and pieces because apparently she was being to humble. By the end my mouth was hanging open. There was no way she did that! Yet, at the same time I believed it.

"You mean you beat all of them?" I asked.

"Yep! Wooped their arses!" Percy exclaimed. He leaned back in his chair smiling from ear to ear. Suddenly I felt bad. Here Emily had gotten another victory, an important victory, and she was here with me in a crumby old hospital.

"Well, as soon as I'm out of here we should celebrate. A victory like that is insane!" The rest of the hour we talked laughing and joking until the nurse came. She removed my bandages gave me some crutches and told me to stay off of my leg for at least two months. I sighed I had to use these until graduation. There was no way if I went to school that I could ditch the cast or crutches after eating ambrosia. That would just look suspicious. I guess that's what Emily thought concerning her leg.

After checking out at the desk Percy, Emily, and I loaded up into the car. I told them to head to the movies. When we got there we bought popcorn, coke, and some Mike n' Ike's. The candy was for Emily. We found our spot at the end of the isle where I could place my useless crutches. Percy slipped me some ambrosia and I ate it the flavor reminding me of home. Resting my head on Percy's shoulder and holding his hand I watched the movie with my best friend and my boyfriend. Things couldn't be better.
