Arthit downs his shot, placing the empty glass on the bar counter as he squinted his eyes, coughing.
"Dude! Stop it already! What got you soo worked up?!" Bright rushes over to his best friend's side, giving a warning glare to the bartender who served his friend.
"I'm just soo nervous! I don't know what to do!" Arthit basically bangs his head on the counter.
Bright blinks, confused. He looks up at Knot who was seated beside Arthit on the high chair. He raises an eyebrow at the latter.
"I don't know anything. I even tried to stop him from drinking further but he is not listening."
Bright rolls his eyes, he turned toward the bartender and asked him to take care of the other customers and not to disturb them.
"Now, Arthit. Did you fight with Kong?"
Arthit shot up to glare at his friend. "What!? Who told you that!? Is Kong angry at me!? Did he tell you?!"
Bright immediately shook his head. "Arthit! No! I asked you because you seem soo stressed out, I couldn't come up with any other situation."
Arthit sighed in relief, he tried to reach over to the bottle of beer that was in front of Knott but Bright didn't allow him to.
"You aren't drinking anymore, Arthit. We want to know what got you soo stressed. You were fine until Tootah and Prem were here, what happened now?"
Bright couldn't help but ask. The gang had gathered at his bar that evening, especially with Arthit back to normal with Kongpob's arrival from China, after finishing his masters. It's been almost three months since the younger came back but Kongpob wasn't able to spend most of his time with Arthit since he had to stay with his parents at their insistence. It has just been a month since he started to stay with Arthit again.
They had talked and spent time all evening until Prem and Tootah had to leave early for personal reasons. Arthit and Knott decided to stay back and that resulted in their current situation.
"Isn't Kong back from his parents' house?" Knott asked again since they didn't receive any reply from their friend.
Arthit nodded his head, "He came three days ago."
"So it's not about you missing him, not about you both fighting. Then what is it?" Knott nudged their friend. Arthit always had high alcohol tolerance but to see him like this they don't want him to drink anymore.
"I-I'm planning something." Arthit bit his lips. Resting his arms on the counter. His cheeks flushed red, hair falling on his forehead.
Knott and Bright glanced at eachother. Still confused as to what their friend was trying to say.
"Plan what? Is it Kong's birthday?"
"It is already over, Bright." Knott narrowed his gaze at the other.
"So is it your parents' birthday?"
Knott gave his friend a weird look but stayed silent as Arthit shook his head.
"Kong's parent's birthday?"
"Your birthday?"
"Your anniversary?"
"Parents anniversary?"
"Bright, shut up!" Knott groaned.
The owner of the bar threw his hands in the air, "What? I'm trying to come up with any kind of event but he's staying silent shaking his head!"
Turning to face Arthit Knott could practically see all the gears in his head turning. "What got you soo stressed out Arthit? Why don't you tell us so we can help?"
Bright leaned over the table, resting his face between his palms as he waited for Arthit to speak up. The two friends observed the other for a few minutes before a sigh was heard from the other man.
"You see this?" Arthit raised his right hand, pointing at the silver ring on his finger.
Knott blinked, "Yeah, you said it's a promise ring. Right?"
Arthit nodded his head, giving the two a thumbs up."He gave me a promise ring before he left. It was practically a proposal don't you think!?"
"That was what we told when you first showed it to us! You were too adamant about refusing it!" Bright pointed out.
Arthit shrugged his shoulders, "Anyway, I was thinking what if he was waiting for me to make a move?"
"What do you mean, Arthit?" Knott gasped, getting an idea of what the latter was trying to say.
"I'm planning to propose to him."
"What!?"
Bright's scream made the people close to them turn their heads in their direction. Knott immediately apologised to them before he shook Bright who stood gaping at their friend.
"You're going to propose to 0062!? What are you waiting for!? Just do it!" Bright covered his mouth, trying to suppress his excitement.
Knott rolled his eyes at Bright, reaching over to smack his head. He would really appreciate it if Bright shuts up right now, he's disappointed that Tootah wasn't here, he was much better at tackling Bright.
Moving closer to his friend Knott placed his hand on his shoulder.
"If you're doing this thinking Kong might be waiting for it then don't, Arthit. You know him better than us, he won't be happy if you're doing this when you're not ready. Do it if you think both of you are up for the next stage. Whatever it is we are always here to support you."
Arthit nodded his head, feeling drowsy with the alcohol in his system but he was sober enough to talk. Well, at least the alcohol hasn't kicked in much yet."I know, Knott. I'm ready, more than ready. I feel this is a perfect time. He has come back from China and will be joining his family business next month. Both of our parents have accepted us. We are getting settled in our careers too. I can feel that both of us are ready."
"But?" Knott raised an eyebrow.
"But I don't know how to do this!" Arthit pouted, burying his face into his hands. Knott and Bright stared at eachother and tried their best to not laugh.
"He would say yes even if you go stand in front of him after coming out a garbage bin." Bright casually voiced out but Arthit wasn't having it as he glared at the male.
"No! My Kong should have the best proposal!"
If they weren't too occupied with calming their drunk friend's worries they would have recorded the whole situation. This was so far the best thing Arthit had ever said after being drunk.
"We should probably get him back home," Knott rolled his eyes as Arthit clung onto him, murmuring about wedding, proposal and rings. They couldn't make out what the latter was actually saying. Guess the alcohol was taking full control over the other's senses now.
Knott suddenly stood up when his phone on the counter started to ring, Tob, his girlfriend's name displayed on the screen. He made Arthit's head lay on the counter before excusing himself to talk to his girlfriend.
Bright immediately moved all kinds of drinks aside that were on the counter near Arthit since the latter was trying to stay up and grab the drinks claiming he was thirsty. Just as if things would continue to go downhill a pair of ladies walked over to Arthit.
"Hey, Handsome." The girls at the front, came over, smiling seductively as she ran her fingers on Arthit's hand.
"Don't touch me!" Arthit snapped his gaze at the ladies. Eyes sharp and glaring. The sight made the others take a step back.
"Oh god..." One of them whispered, feeling brave enough to step forward again.
"You're soo handsome when you're angr-"
"Stay away!" Arthit's tone of voice changed and his demeanour became protective. "Kong! Where are you!?"
Bright enjoyed the way the scene was unfolding but with how things are turning out he should intervene.
"Stay away ladies! He's a taken man!" Bright shouted, walking out of the other side of the counter.
The ladies almost peed on themselves with the way Arthit was staring - glaring - at them. That they even murmured on not returning to the place if they would find this grumpy man. Bright just couldn't believe what he had heard.
He looked at Arthit who was trying to search for Kongpob. He immediately held him in place before he could wander around. "I'm losing customers because of you Arthit!"
When Knott came back from the call he informed that he should immediately go to the hospital since Tob's father was admitted there and she needs Knott to be there with her. He gave Bright the duty to drive Arthit back to his apartment. And Bright could only groan.
Instructing the workers to handle things at the bar Bright pulled Arthit with him towards his car. The latter was already making a huge scene trying to call out for his dear boyfriend whenever someone came close to him or tried to talk to him. That included Bright himself too. If they stay any longer Arthit would have made it a war zone.
"Bright! Drive slow! Are you going to kill me!?"
Bright almost drove into another car with Arthit's sudden scream. He cursed all the forces above for giving him the pleasure of dealing with his drunk friend. He was driving at normal speed yet Arthit was behaving as if the car was in a racing game.
"Shut up, Arthit! If you don't stay quiet you'll never see your 0062 again!"
And that shut his best friend. With a permanent pout on his lips, Arthit murmured incoherent words which didn't reach Bright's ears. The latter could only chuckle to himself seeing his best friend.
When Bright was finally reached in front of the apartment building, he guided Arthit towards his room. Almost carrying him as they got in the elevator. Arthit didn't say a word or tried to pull any stunt but the latter was definitely clingy. And of course, he knew that about his best friend, it's just that it was rare for him to handle his other friends while drunk as he himself would be the first one to get worn out when they had drinks. It was mostly the others who dropped his dumb ass at his place.
Finally reaching in front of the apartment room Bright knocked on the door, calling out for the younger male who was inside the room.
"Coming!"
Bright sighed in relief as he heard the voice from the other side. He disentangled himself from Arthit's embrace and tried to lean him on the door.
When the door opened Kongpob was surprised when a body fell on him, if not for his quick reflex both of them would have hit their heads on the floor.
"Oh!" Kongpob staggered a little as he held Arthit, he scrunched his nose when the smell of alcohol hit his nostrils.
"Take your boyfriend! Damn, he's too heavy!" Bright groaned dramatically, breathing heavily.
Kongpob blinked, nodding at the senior as he tried to push Arthit's head away from his neck. But it was of no use as the elder continued to blow kisses on his neck.
"If your boyfriend scares off my customers again I won't let him enter my bar!"
Kongpob laughed at the remark as he nodded his head. Bright smiled back too as he shook his head, smirking next when he saw how Kongpob was trying to stop Arthit from eating his neck.
"Thank you, P'Bright. I'm glad that you brought him home." The younger smiled wide.
"No problem, tell your boyfriend to treat me later." Bright patted Kongpob's shoulder before walking away, bidding good night to the younger. Making the other chuckle at the senior's antics.
"What am I going to do with you?" Kongpob sighed as he locked the door, staring at his boyfriend who was whining in his embrace.
He expected Arthit to drink today since it was Friday night and the latter gathered with his friends too, but he didn't think the elder would get soo drunk. He knows his lover has high alcohol tolerance. Maybe he might have got carried away.
Kongpob decided to let the thoughts aside as he brought his lover towards the bed.
"Don't leave," Arthit mumbled as he wrapped his arms tighter around Kongpob's waist as he was made to lie down on the bed.
Kongpob chuckled, he pressed a soft kiss on the other's forehead. "I'm not going anywhere, P'Arthit. Let's get your clothes changed."
The younger admired the view of his pouting boyfriend, he disentangled from the strong arms around him before he made his way to the wardrobe to take out comfy clothes for the elder.
He changed Arthit out of his sweaty clothes and wipe his body with water before he helped him wear the shorts and t-shirt. He made sure that Arthit was comfortable laying on the bed, covered in the blanket before he checked the balcony door and the entrance, making sure the doors were locked before he drew in the curtains halfway, letting some of the moonlight enter the room and then turned the light off.
He slipped beside Arthit under the covers, two pale arms immediately wrapped around his waist, pulling him closer.
"I love you, Kong," Arthit mumbled, eyes shut close. He nuzzled his face into the crook of the other's neck.
"Drunken confessions," Kongpob giggled. "I love you too, P'Ai Oon."
Arthit smiled wide in his sleep, "I like it."
"Like what?" Kongpob started to caress Arthit's hair.
"I like it when you call me that." Arthit giggled, the sound making the younger smile. "Call me again."
Kongpob tried to suppress his laughter. "P'Ai Oon Kharp, I love you."
The younger leaned and pressed a soft kiss on the elder's lips when he saw the other smiling wider. The glow of the moonlight falling on his lover, makes him look extra cherishable and beautiful.
And now, Kongpob felt that he could try his luck on the elder, he's sure that the latter won't remember what he had told in his sleep dazed mind the next morning. "Can I ask you a question P?"
"You can ask me anything and everything you want, Kong," Arthit replied without a hint of doubt though his words slurred in between making Kongpob laugh.
The younger hesitated for a while, a weird kind of nervousness took over him even in the safety of the darkness of the room.
"Will you be happy if we have a house together?"
Kongpob felt his heartbeat starting to rise when he was met with silence. The next moment he felt Arthit's hands around his waist tighten, a wide smile stretch on the elder's lips, dimples popping on his cheeks.
"Hmm-hmm." Arthit hummed, sleepily kissing Kongpob's jaw before a small snore was heard.
Kongpob grinned, chuckling as he shook his head. He closed his eyes, feeling the warmth of the elder close.
"Good night, P'Arthit."
"Arggh!"
Arthit groaned as he clutched his head, suddenly feeling as if the world around him was spinning. He cursed himself for getting drunk, he shouldn't have done that. Though the headache isn't much and it was bearable he still didn't like the feeling of waking up like this. And that's when he heard a giggle from somewhere around the room.
"Shut up!" Arthit buried his face into the pillow, feeling the space beside him dip and a hand landed on his head, caressing his soft hair. The action made the elder smile.
"Good morning to you too, P'Arthit."
Arthit sighed into the other's touch, "Good morning."
"Freshen up, I'll set our breakfast. And I have placed the pills on the table."
Arthit gave a thumbs up to the younger as he turned around, making an attempt to sit on the bed.
"By the way, P'Tootah called, I picked up the phone. He told me to tell you to check the group chat." Kongpob leaned to peck his lover's lips earning a glare from the other.
"I didn't brush!"
"Still sweet." He winked making Arthit roll his eyes.
With a sigh Arthit stood up, ignoring the headache he walked towards their dining table, taking the medicine. He then proceeded to do his morning routine.
It was already past 9 and since it was a Saturday he didn't have any plans except that they had a date night. Every Saturday they would go out in the evening, for movies or shopping or to any other interesting place they want to go to. Sometimes it would be just for a walk around the city or at a park, a time to spend with eachother. And they would end it with dinner either at a restaurant or buying take-outs. It was their routine back then, before Kongpob went for his studies, and now since he's back they're bringing that routine back too.
After having the breakfast his boyfriend cooked for them, together, Arthit plopped on the bed. With Kongpob beside him, leaning on the headboard with his laptop. Even though Kongpob hasn't officially started working at Siam Polymer the younger still chose to do some of the work online with Kerkkrai's help. The younger wanted to know a little more about the company before he officially starts working and Arthit is really proud of his boyfriend.
He had seen Kongpob from being the annoying freshman to being a postgraduate student. And now he was gonna be a working man soon. Arthit was extremely proud and happy to see how long the younger has come forward.
Smiling to himself Arthit took out his phone. His eyebrows furrowed when he saw the number of messages in the group chat with his friends.
Tootah: Oh god, Arthit! You should have asked me for help in the first place! Did you forget that you have an amazing friend like me who can help you with anything?!
Bright: Stop praising yourself, idiot!
Tootah: Shut up!
Tootah: Arthit! We want you to meet us in the evening! At my house! No excuses!
Knott: We're gonna help you :)
Bright: A new mission!
Prem: You could have just asked our help, Arthit. Getting drunk over it now, tsk!
What are you talking about?
But I'm busy tonight,
I'm going out with, Kong
Bright: Try to think about what you told us yesterday
Tootah: Tell Kong that I asked you to come! And it's urgent! Come over by 4 so you can leave early
Arthit scratched the back of his head not knowing what to do. He looked up at Kongpob who was on his laptop beside him.
"Kong."
"Hmm?" The younger turned to face his lover.
"I'm sorry but Tootah told me to come over to his house and it's urgent. I think our date night will be cancelled."
"Oh."
Kongpob smiled softly at the latter next after the initial disappointment he felt, seeing how those lips dropped and eyes staring at him in apology. "It's ok, P. You'll be back for dinner right?"
"Of course! I'll make sure of that." Arthit nodded his head.
The younger wrapped his arms around the elder's waist, laying his head on his shoulder."Don't look soo guilty, P. I'll go over to Aim's place if that makes you feel better, spending time with friends is important too."
"But-"
"No buts, I told you it's ok. We have plenty of time to go on dates, P." Kongpob nodded assuringly, after all, he had things to do too. He had just left it behind for their date night and precious Saturday together. If Arthit had plans today then he can spend more time on what he was planning.
Arthit sighed. "If you say so."
Kongpob patted the elder's shoulder as he pulled away, resuming to work on his laptop after he pecked on the other's lips.
Arthit then proceeded to inform his friends that he'll be there by 4 in the evening. He then started to think about what really happened last night and what he had talked to Bright and Knott. When memories started to flood in his cheeks flushed and his ears turned red. He buried his face in his hands, clenching his jaws so he won't produce any kind of noise that would give him away to the younger.
"P'Arthit, you ok?" Kongpob asked concerned. He saw how Arthit facepalmed, almost angry, through the corner of his eyes.
Arthit immediately nodded his head. "It's nothing. Those idiots are just annoying."
Kongpob looked back between Arthit and the phone before chuckling, shaking his head.
Arthit peeked at his lover, sighing when he found him focusing back on his work. He groaned silently, thinking about the conversation he is gonna have with his friends in the evening.
Stupid, Arthit! Stupid! They're obviously calling you to talk about it!
****
Kongpob tried to stop himself from smiling any wider as Arthit kept on asking him where they were going.
"At least give me a clue, Kong!"
"It won't be a surprise then, P."
Arthit rolled his eyes, accepting his defeat he leaned back on the seat, puffing his cheeks. They are in Kongpob's new car that his parents had gifted to him on his birthday, also as a gift for completing his masters. The younger had asked him to get ready in the morning, claiming he wanted to take him somewhere 'special'. It's Sunday and Arthit wanted to just stay in bed but his hyperactive boyfriend didn't allow that.
And now here they were, with him sulking at the younger who tried his best to keep himself from laughing seeing the elder pouting. How can he reveal where they were going when it is supposed to be a surprise in the first place? Sometimes his boyfriend behaves like a baby and Kongpob doesn't want that to change even a bit. Seeing the elder give up all the stress of the work world and be free with him, it makes him happy.
Arthit blinked his eyes when he noticed that they were driving into a driveway and he could see some parts of a house at the end. Were they going to meet someone?
"Kongpob! Who are we going to meet?!"
Kongpob stayed silent, the smile on his lips doesn't flatter and that makes the elder's heartbeat raise.
"Here we are!" The younger exclaimed as he parked the car right in front of the house.
Arthit gazed confused at his lover.
"Aren't you coming out, P?" Kongpob asked as he proceeded to get out of the car, excitement and nervousness evident on his face.
The elder wordlessly stepped out of the car. Still confused as he looked around. The house compound was soo beautiful, lots of greenery and flowers and a calm essence filled the place. Staring at the two-storied building in front of him he could sense that no one was living there, it was unusually silent. But Arthit couldn't help but admire the beauty of the house, he didn't know how to express it but it truly was beautiful.
Kongpob smiled seeing how his lover was admiring the place, he internally fist-bumped seeing the awe on his face."Wanna check inside P?"
"Huh?" Arthit blinked. Turning his attention to his lover who took his hand and guided him towards the house.
The first surprise he got was seeing Aim and Tew walkout hurriedly from the door. Smiling wide at them. Arthit stood dumbfounded when Kongpob stepped forward to hug them.
"Swadee Kharp, P'Arthit." The two juniors waied at him and Arthit nodded his head.
"Thank you guys, really appreciate it." Kongpob smiled widely at the two.
"Oh come on! We can't just back off when our dear 'Mr Independent' comes to ask for our help! It's a golden opportunity." Aim winked at his best friend and Tew could only laugh.
Kongpob scratched the back of his neck, giving a shy smile. He knows he doesn't always ask for help from his friends, only when he's in dire need of it, he was just like that from a very young age and it's hard for him to move out of that character. That was one of the reasons Arthit scolds him too, he's still working on it even after all these years.
"We'll leave now, enjoy." Tew smiled at the couple and then signalled Aim who stepped towards Kongpob and placed something in his hand which didn't catch Arthit's sight.
Tew turned towards the elder, giggling at the confused stare he was met with.
"It's a really beautiful place, P'Arthit. Kong had really thought deep into this. Enjoy your time."
"What is going on?" Arthit couldn't help but ask as soon as the two left, frustrated and confused. It seemed like the three were speaking in codes and he was left behind, not understanding a word.
Kongpob chuckled, "How about we first go inside and look around the place?"
"But-"
"Please, P'Arthit." Damn those puppy eyes! Arthit sighed and nodded his head.
Smiling wide Kongpob intertwined their fingers and stepped into the house. The younger bit the inside of his cheek trying to stop himself from smiling too wide when he heard a gasp from the other, eyes wide as he looked around the place.
"This is the living room," Kongpob directed his lover, showing each corner of the two-storied, unfurnished building.
"This will be the dining room, the door over there is to the kitchen." Kongpob pointed at the large spacious hall-like space, one side of it completely made of a glass wall and they could see a glimpse of a pool that was situated outside. Kongpob then pulled Arthit with him to just take a peek at the kitchen which was too spacious, according to Arthit.
"And-" Kongpob excitedly pulled Arthit towards the glass wall in the living room, that gave a perfect view of the backyard. It was then that Arthit realised that there was a glass door at the side too.
"Look! We have a pool too. And a huge backyard! Isn't it beautiful?"
Arthit had his lips parted in awe as he looked around. He did see the pool by the glass wall earlier but standing beside it in person made it look more beautiful. And the pool was really large, at the moment covered with the pool cover. And not to mention the backyard, it looked soo warm and pleasant. With the lush green lawn and plants that surrounded the place.
Kongpob let Arthit admire the view in front of them, patting himself mentally for having a good choice. He could see his P was quite impressed even though the latter was confused.
"It is indeed beautiful, Kong." Arthit smiled softly looking up at his lover.
"But what are we-"
"There's more to see P!" Kongpob didn't let the elder finish his words as he pulled him back inside.
"And there are two guest bedrooms down the other side. We'll just skip it for now."
The younger excitedly turned to the elder the next second, "Let's go upstairs, P'Arthit! It's beautiful out there!"
Kongpob dragged Arthit with him, climbing the stairs with a glass railing. The elder let Kongpob drag him as he found himself smiling at the other's enthusiasm and he was eager to see more of the house that his boyfriend was excitedly showing off to him. Though he had many questions to ask he let it slide for the moment.
"There are three bedrooms here, including the master bedroom. We have a spacious terrace. And the master bedroom has a small beautiful balcony too." Kongpob roughly showed the empty rooms before dragging Arthit to the end of the hallway.
"Two additional rooms too, but I'm planning for one to be an office room and the other...hmm... we'll figure it out eventually. What do you say, P?"
"Ok?" Arthit answered not really knowing what he should say.
Kongpob smiled sheepishly at the elder, knowing that Arthit had no idea why he was talking about this all. Leaving it aside he opened the white door at the end of the path, leading them to step into the terrace. A wide area, almost having the space to hold a party.
"This is soo beautiful," Arthit's whispered, smiling when the cold breeze of the winter morning hit his face.
Kongpob smiled, walking forward with the elder towards the end of the terrace. Both proceeded to lean on the railing, looking up at the sky. It wasn't a sunny day and the clouds were covering the sky. Even though winters in Thailand aren't that cold they did bring chilly weather, especially with the breeze.
Arthit looked around the place, smiling softly, he could see the neighbourhood from where he stood. It wasn't crowded, mostly filled with trees that made it difficult for him to see other houses. And he loved the place. Whoever was staying there would enjoy great privacy, just like how Arthit wished for their house. Only when once they decided to buy one, that is.
"P'Arthit," Kongpob called the other after a few minutes of silence, the whole time his focus on his lover. Admiring how the elder was gazing around the place with a smile on his face.
"Hmm?"
"What do you think about this house?"
"It's really beautiful, Kong. Spacious and comfortable. It gives me a homely vibe. I don't know how to describe it." Arthit smiled but soon frowned as he turned to face his boyfriend.
"But I'm still confused, why did you bring me here?"
"Well, P. As you saw, the house is still not completely done. It's just empty now, no furniture, nothing." Kongpob looked up at his intently listening lover before he slowly dropped the bomb. "And I bought this place."
Arthit's eyes widened, mouth agape."You what!? Kong-"
"Yes, I did. I bought this with my saved up money and Por helped me a little too."
"But why did you buy it now? You could have brought it after you started working, Kong."
"I know that I could but after I found this house on sale I didn't want to let go. I didn't want others to have it, this felt soo right. It looked like the place you described to me too, P'Arthit."
"Huh? Me?"
"Yeah, don't you remember that time when I asked you what you would like our house to look like? And I saw you looking at pictures on the internet too." Kongpob smiled. He had asked his lover on different occasions in the past what kind of house the latter liked and he had intently listened to the other's description and kept it in his mind.
Arthit blushed, realising his act was caught. He would just randomly search for houses and save some of the photos that caught his interest, he knew they weren't gonna have a house anytime soon but he was just being prepared. The very next second his eyes widened, realising something.
"Wait!"
Kongpob smiled wide, taking a shocked Arthit's hand in his. "The place has still a lot of things to be completed and I'm planning to do it slowly, step by step after I start working. But for now..."
Arthit gasped as he felt a cold metal placed in his hand.
"P'Arthit Kharp, will you move in with me?"
"K-Kong..." Arthit gulped, feeling a lump form in his throat as he glanced between the key that was placed in his hand and at his young lover who expectantly stared at him.
"I-Yes! Thousand times yes!" Arthit pulled the latter into a tight hug before Kongpob could say anything.
The younger wrapped his arms around Arthit's waist, smiling wide as he felt the elder tight his grip on him. They stayed in silence, listening to each other's breathing as they held onto eachother. Caressing each other's back. Kongpob was over the moon, yes he knew Arthit wouldn't say a 'no' but he was nervous about the other's reaction. Even though he was sure both of that they were ready for this and the elder male was only hesitating to move forward with it because he just came back from China and was going to work at his father's company, he doubted if Arthit would be happy with the fact that he made the decision alone.
He knows that he could have talked to Arthit beforehand to remove that part of his worry, but he wanted to surprise Arthit. The best opportunity came to him at the right time and with the help of Tew and Aim, he was able to make a great deal and other arrangements. His two friends had helped him to settle everything. And now, thankfully, Arthit agreed to move in with him - not that they were moving into the new place any time soon - and the elder loved the place.
"Thank you, Kong. For this. It's absolutely amazing." Arthit pulled away, eyes glassy with unshed tears as he smiled wide, dimples in display.
Kongpob shook his head, smiling as he reached up to cup his lover's face between his palms, "No formalities P. This is now our place. Our home. I brought this for us, to make our own little family in here."
Arthit chuckled through his tears. feeling overwhelmed. He closed the gap between their faces, capturing the younger's lips in between his. Hands on the latter's waist. He smiled into the kiss when he felt Kongpob responding with the same level of passion. Just a tender kiss, soft and full of assurance.
Arthit felt the insecurities he had vanish in thin air. Kongpob had brought them their house, a place where they will build their lives, it was just a matter of time before they make it their home. And now he was confident of the decision he has made, it was his time to take action now and he had promised himself that he'll make Kongpob, his lover, the happiest.
Wait for your P'Arthit, Kong. Wait for me.
****
"Kong, stop it already. You look great." Arthit chuckled as he parked the car in front of the Suttilak household.
He turned to face the younger who was busy touching all over his clothes. Arthit couldn't help but admire the man in front of him. Wearing a white sweater, tucked in his black jeans. Hair styled to the side. Wearing a simple chain around his neck. Looking dashing as ever, his look contrasted his honey skin, making him look as if he was right out of a magazine.
"Your parents are here. I don't want them to think that their son's boyfriend is any less handsome." Kongpob pouted, fixing his look once again.
The elder rolled his eyes, "It's not the first time they're meeting you, Kong. My Mae loves you more than me, her own son."
They had come out to their parents long back, even though it took some time from both sides they eventually saw their love for eachother and accepted who they were. And now both of them were precious to each other's families.
"But still, I should look decent."
Arthit shook his head, leaning over he planted a kiss on his lover's cheek."You look absolutely stunning, Kong. Stop worrying about it."
A smirk adorned the younger's lips, "So P'Arthit thinks I'm handsome, huh?"
"What else? My boyfriend is always handsome. Any problem with that?" Arthit batted his eyebrows.
Kongpob giggled shaking his head as he quickly stole a kiss from the elder before getting out of the car. Arthit shook his head, smiling as he stepped out along with the latter.
"What's with the extra effort on your outfit, P'Arthit?" Kongpob eyed the latter as he laced their fingers together. Walking towards his house. The elder had spent more time choosing his outfit for the night than he normally does, and it wasn't like Arthit doesn't look good when he used to dress casually but today he looked extra handsome.
With the navy blue shirt tucked in his black pants, the top three buttons were undone. Hair jelled to the back, a few of its strands falling on his forehead, a simple chain on his neck. Kongpob couldn't take his eyes off his man, he had repeatedly told how handsome the elder looked from the time he had seen the latter in full outfit.
"Nothing," Arthit shrugged his shoulders. Of course, he's gonna put effort into his attire tonight and Kongpob doesn't have to know about it. At least, not yet.
"P'Kong!"
A shrill voice was heard after they had stepped into the Suttilak house. The couple smiled as they watched Kongpob's niece rush towards his uncle.
"Aw! Look who's here!" Kongpob smiled wide, gathering his niece in his arms. Kissing her cheek. "Hi there, Emma."
Emma smiled wide, kissing her uncle's cheek in response. She then turned to Arthit who smiled widely at her.
"Hi, P'Arthit!"
"Hi there, sweety." Arthit playfully pinched Emma's cheek making her pout. He took the bar of chocolate he had brought for her and handed it to a beaming Emma.
"Thank you! You're the best!"
"Aw, what about me?" Kongpob pouted playfully as he carried her inside, to the living room where everyone was seated.
"P'Kong is the best too!"
The couple laughed, smiling wide when they stepped into the living room. Seeing both of their parents smiling back at them warmly.
Letting go of Emma Kongpob rushed to greet his parents. Hugging them. The same with Arthit who approached his parents to have his share of their hug. Emma on the other hand was busy devouring the chocolate she got as she rushed out to the backyard.
"Aw Kongpob, I missed you." Achara, Arthit's mother hugged her son's lover as he stepped in to greet them.
"Mae! Who's your son? Me or him?" Arthit scrunched his face when Kongpob clicked his tongue at him while he rested his head on Achara's shoulder.
"Aw Arthit, we missed you, dear. Don't mind them, let them have Kong while you stay with us. Right Kerkkrai?" Rin glanced at her husband playfully to which he laughed.
"Of course! You're our son too." Kerkkrai winked at Arthit who blushed but laughed along with them.
"Ok then, we'll take Kong with us while Arthit stays with you." David approached and hugged Achara and Kongpob from the back, acting as if he was taking them home making all of them laugh.
"By the way, where are P'Kik and P'Tina?" Kongpob asked next, once they all sat back on the sofa.
"They're in the kitchen. And before you ask where your brother-in-laws are, they're in the garden having a serious conversation, don't go and disturb them." Rin warned her son who pouted at her.
"Fine, I'll go to the kitchen then. I missed them!" Kongpob glanced at Arthit who nodded his head at him making the younger smile before he stood up and rushed towards the kitchen to greet his two sisters.
Once Kongpob was out of sight a series of relieved sighs left out from the family.
"That was clean!" Achara breathed out making them chuckle.
"Your friends are already getting things done, Arthit. We'll make sure Kongpob doesn't find out." Rin assured Arthit who looked anxious as soon as Kongpob was out of sight.
"Are you tensed, Oon?" David asked, smiling warmly at his son.
"No," Arthit replied way too fast to seem fine and that made everyone suppress their laughter.
"Stop lying." Achara nudged her son's shoulder, shaking her head when Arthit blushed.
"Don't worry Arthit, my son is gonna say yes without a second thought. Have you observed how he looks at you? That says it all." Rin winked at him.
Arthit scratched the back of his neck, smiling shyly. He knew very well what Rin was pointing out. Sometimes, when he catches Kongpob looking at him, with a soft smile playing on his lips, Arthit feels as if it was too much for him to handle. The love and adoration that was emitting out of those charcoal orbs were overwhelming. He never thought someone could love him soo much, that he could love someone else more than himself. Kongpob brought out that side of him, a part of him that he never knew existed. Now he cannot think of a moment without Kongpob in his life.
"Toy and Ryan are outside. They're setting up the lights. You wanna go check it out, Arthit?" Kerkkrai asked, offering a small smile. He could see how jittery Arthit was getting and he know how much ever times they try to calm the young man, assuring him, Arthit would still feel nervous. And he doesn't blame the latter, he was in Arthit's place years ago and he could still remember how nervous he was even though he knew Rin would immediately say yes.
"Ok, Por."
The elderly couples watched Arthit stand up, and walk toward the backyard. Sliding the glass door to step outside.
"I'm happy they found eachother. They make me think of our old days." Rin smiled, feeling warm. She could see how much Arthit loved her son, through his actions and subtle touches, those spoke louder than any words. And she could see how much Kongpob was in love with Arthit too, the way her son stares at Arthit reminds her of how Kerkkrai stares at her. With soo much love.
"They're made for eachother." David nods in agreement, pulling Achara closer by the waist unconsciously. Smiling when their eyes met.
"Look who's here!" Kik smiled wide seeing her brother, she rushed to hug him while Tina smiled seeing her two siblings as she washed her hands.
"I missed you!" Kongpob buried his face in his sister's shoulder.
"Oh, so you don't need me?" Tina puffed her cheeks, crossing her arms against her chest.
Kongpob looked over and laughed, pulling the other for a group hug. "I missed you both!"
When they pulled away Kongpob greeted the maids who were in the kitchen, who smiled wide at him in return, seeing the youngest of the house back.
"Tell me, did you and Arthit move in together already?" Kik asked excitedly. Kongpob had told everyone how he and Arthit brought a house and were settling everything in there.
"We haven't moved in yet P. The place is not yet furnished and we want to make a few more changes in the place before we move in. I and P'Arthit are taking our time. Besides, I just started working too, right. So, yeah." Kongpob smiled.
"That's good to know, Kong. We're happy for you both." Tina caressed her brother's hair. Patting him.
They continued to talk as Kongpob watched Tina and Kik move around the kitchen. He tried to help them in between but they reprimanded him, asking him to rest for now. They know that Kongpob had improved a lot in the kitchen - thanks to Arthit - but that has nothing to do with how they're treating him now. They just want him to rest assured and behave like the little brother of theirs that they had missed soo much.
"By the way, do you guys know why Por called for this sudden meetup?" Kongpob asked, curiosity in his mind as he sat on the kitchen counter.
"Why do you ask that?" Kik and Tina glanced at eachother.
Kongpob shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, this just seems soo sudden. We usually gather during Christmas and New year, right? It's just the first week of December."
"I think he just misses everyone together. It's been months since we got time to spend time like this. And even when you returned from China I and Kik weren't able to meet you. We just got to see you today. Our parents just want some family time." Tina smiled assuringly at her brother.
Kongpob looked down at his hands, humming as he nodded his head. Completely missed the look of relief washing over his two sisters.
He was genuinely surprised when Kerkkrai came up to him during lunch at the office, asking him if he would be ok to come home that weekend for some 'family' time. At first, Kongpob was concerned with the sudden invitation, he asked if something was wrong and Kerkkrai brushed it off, of course. But Kongpob felt as if something was fishy. It surprised him more when Kerkkrai said he had called Arthit and his parents too.
Both of their parents had met up a few times and had gotten along well. So it wasn't a surprise that they contact eachother. But the sudden meet was suspicious, Kongpob doesn't know why but it just felt so and he even voiced out what was in his mind to Arthit who just shrugged and asked him to not overthink it. And that as Kerkkrai told, they just want to spend time together.
"Stop frying your brain, Kong. There's nothing wrong with anyone here." Kik flicked Kongpob's forehead making the younger whine as he rubbed his forehead.
Tina shook her head, "Such a baby."
"Hey!" Kongpob whined making the two sisters laugh.
"Kong?"
The three siblings turn to face the kitchen entrance, smiling when they saw Arthit smiling awkwardly at them.
"Did I disturb you?" Arthit stepped into the kitchen, greeting Kongpob's sisters and the maids inside.
Tina smiled."Not at all, Arthit."
"Why? Did you miss your boyfriend already?" Kik wiggled her eyebrows.
Kongpob giggled seeing the elder's cheeks flush, he zipped his lips when Arthit glared at him.
"I just wanted Kong for some time. If you're busy then it's ok." Arthit made eye contact with the two sisters, making sure they understood what he meant.
"Oh! Of course!" Tina nodded her head enthusiastically, making Kongpob raise his eyebrows.
"You can take him, Nong. We're finishing up things here, he's of no need." Kik pulled Kongpob down from the countertop.
"Ok," Arthit chuckled, eyeing his boyfriend who was staring at his sisters weirdly.
"What is it P'Arthit? Anything wrong?" Kongpob asked concerned as he turned his attention to his lover.
"Uh-" Arthit gulped. "Just come with me, now."
Kongpob blinked, confused. "Ok?"
Excusing himself Arthit pulled Kongpob out of the kitchen. Leaving Tina and Kik giggling at the back. Excited for what is to come.
"Where are you taking me, P'Arthit?" Kongpob giggled when Arthit stumbled on the way, he tightened his hold on the elder.
"Close your eyes."
"But why, P?"
"I said close your eyes, 0062."
Kongpob pouted before he closed his eyes. Making Arthit chuckle. He leaned forward a pressed a peck on the other's lips making the younger smile wide.
"Now, don't open your eyes until I say so. Ok?"
"Yes sir!" Kongpob even saluted making the elder shake his head in amusement.
Arthit carefully guided the younger to step outside, to the backyard of the Suttilak house. He smiled wide when he saw the ground, he made sure to make Kongpob stand at the right spot.
He looked up at the balcony of the second floor. Where he could see his friends mumbling to eachother. Arthit cleared his throat.
"You didn't open your eyes, right?" Arthit initiated a talk with his lover to get his friend's attention.
"P'Arthit, you know that I'll always do what you say. I'm not gonna open my eyes until you say so."
Arthit blushed when he heard snickers from the two males who stood by the bushes at the other end. Toy and Ryan, Kongpob's brothers-in-law. Arthit tried their best to ignore them and their teasing smile.
Toy gave him a thumbs up before slow music started to play in the background, Arthit smiled wide at the elder, nodding his head.
"Is that music? What are you doing P'Arthit?" Kongpob asked, confused hearing the music. He's sure none of his family members listens to such music.
Arthit looked up and found his friends obediently standing by the railing. Waiting for the signal. Taking a deep breath, feeling the nervousness get into him, Arthit tried his best to stay calm. After a second of composing himself, Arthit looked up and nodded at Knott who gave him a thumbs up.
Arthit walked over to stand behind his lover. Pressing his hands over the younger's shoulder, making sure it was the right moment he leaned over to Kongpob, his lips near the younger's ear.
"Open your eyes, Kong."
Kongpob slowly opened his eyes. Blinking as he saw something white falling on him. He gasped the very next second, looking up at the sky, seeing something that he never imagined to see. He covered his mouth in excitement, bouncing on his foot as he continued to look up, seeing the tiny white things falling all over where he stood.
"It's snowing!" Kongpob gasped, reaching his hands up to touch it. His eyes wide and lips parted in awe, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He looked down and saw the ground filled with snow, rather something similar but Kongpob was too excited to decipher any of it.
Any logical reasoning skipped out of his head as he enjoyed the falling of snow on him. He didn't even care to think about how it was possibly snowing in Thailand, even though it was winter.
Looking like a child who has seen snow for the first time Kongpob almost jumped excitedly, gaping and smiling looking at the white tiny objects that fell on him. He soon felt a presence beside him, making him smile wider.
"P'Arthit, look! It's snow-" Kongpob's breath hitched as his eyes met the hazel pair, staring back at him with soo many emotions, the tender gaze surprised him. "P'Arthit?"
Arthit smiled, taking Kongpob's hand in his. With snow falling on them, even landing on their faces. He could see how Kongpob was trying to focus on him and the snowflakes that were falling on him, making him look adorable in his sight.
"Kong, you know that I'm not good with words but here, at this moment, I want to say soo much. Express everything that's in my heart to you, to let you know how much you mean to me but words just don't seem enough. Nothing has ever been enough for me to express what's going on in here." Arthit pressed their hands on his chest, letting Kongpob feel the pounding of the elder's heart against his touch. The rising heartbeat.
"There has been a lot that we have gone through. Tears and smiles, everything. Being close and staying long distance. Both of us have been there at important points in our lives. Even though I behaved like an idiot in the past, you pushed me up. Made me realise how crazy in love I was -am- with you. Making me realise, I can't, and never be able to stay away from the annoying junior of mine. Staying away from you was the worst part of my life. Through bad and good times, we were able to walk together. Hold hands and continue our journey. Even in the distance."
Kongpob choked on his tears, finally letting them flow. He tried wiping them away using his free hand but they could just not stop. And hearing Arthit say all those words were overwhelming him, his mind completely going blank, just staring at the man who was professing his love for him, bringing back all the memories.
"Kong, know this. I know I don't say this a lot but I know you understand me." Arthit smiled when the younger chuckled, his eyes teary. "I love you, Kong. I love you soo much. You are the one I wanted to find, to tell that I need you all my life, from this day on till the rest of my life. I love you not only for what you are but for what I am when I am with you. I love the feeling and the butterflies I get when I see you smiling."
"Even though you might tease me later for saying this, I love how you turn to a cheeseball with me, making me want to murder you in embarrassment and kiss you shut at the same time."
Kongpob giggled, his laugh coming out teary. He stared at his lover, smiling wide. Staring at the nervous yet smiling face, whose cheeks had already turned bright red and eyes whelmed up, trying hard to not let them fall. Caressing Arthit's hand that held his right palm Kongpob smiled softly making the elder take a deep breath and chuckle.
Arthit took a moment, admiring the man in front of him. Whose face was flushed with all the tears. Looking ethereal in his eyes, under the snow and the night sky. "I would love to grow old with you, Kong. I don't know what the future holds for us, I can't promise you that there won't be any more tears that we might shed in the future. But at this very moment, I promise you that, you won't deal with it alone. We'll always be there for eachother, through everything, just like how we have been holding hands all these years. And I will be there to wipe your tears away, just like how you've been always there to wipe away mine. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Kong."
Kongpob gasped the next moment, blinking as sudden light flashed onto his face. He looked around, gaping as he stared at the fairy lights that lit up around them. He didn't even notice they were all hanging around the place moments before, he was too focused on the snow, the music that played in the background.
"So-" Kongpob turned to face his lover, hearing his voice. But he felt his breath catch up his throat as his eyes widened, lips trembling, seeing the love of his life, smiling wide at him, with tears in his eyes as he knelt down.
With a small velvet box in his hand, that had a simple platinum ring in it. Adorned with carving on it, a single stone in the centre, glistening under the light.
Taking a deep breath, in a quivering voice, Arthit was finally able to pop the big question.
"Kongpob Suttilak. Will you marry me?"
Arthit gasped next, holding the younger tight in his arms, almost falling back. He buried his face into the crook of the other's neck, inhaling the familiar scent as Kongpob was busy crying over his shoulders. Giving him like a koala, kneeling with him.
"Yes-Yes, a million times yes. You don't even have to ask P'Arthit!"
Kongpob exclaimed between his sobs. He didn't care if he looked like a child crying over the proposal like this, he was just too happy. Soo overwhelmed, feeling as if he was over the moon. He never thought that this would happen right now, he didn't have any idea that Arthit would pull such a stunt but he was genuinely happy and excited.
They sat on both of their knees, hugging eachother. With the elder patting the other's back, whispering a number of 'I love you' into his ear. When Kongpob finally calmed down they pulled away, both giving teary smiles to eachother. Arthit raised Kongpob's hand and brought it to his lips to kiss his knuckles before he slipped the ring on his ring finger.
Smiling wide through his tears Kongpob reached out to cup the elder's cheek, pressing their lips together. He could feel the elder smiling, his hands slipping behind his neck, pulling him closer.
They could hear the squeals of their family and friends but at the moment they were too overwhelmed to observe them. They were busy trying to express each other's feelings, their happiness, through the soft and tender kiss that was being shared between them.
When they pulled away, they rested their foreheads together. Smiling as they finally calmed down, their heartbeats turning to normal.
"So, can I stop this thing now?!"
Bright's voice from the balcony brought the two males back to reality. Arthit shot a glare up, seeing Bright's head being smacked by Tootah.
"You ruined the moment you idiot!" Tootah grumbled.
Kongpob could only laugh at the seniors. He was soon helped up by Arthit to stand up, the elder directing Bright to turn off the machine.
"Where did you even get that from, P'Arthit?" Kongpob asked, surprised to see the snowfall machine that he had failed to notice earlier.
"I have my ways, you know." Arthit winked as he proceeded to wipe off the snow that was on the younger, making Kongpob giggle.
The two turned to their parents, their hearts melting seeing them shed happy tears. Even their fathers were emotional.
Rin came forward and hugged Arthit while Achara hugged Kongpob. Both of them exclaiming how happy they're.
"Welcome to the family, son." Achara caressed Kongpob's cheek, smiling wide.
"Welcome to the family, dear." Rin hugged Arthit tighter. Pulling away the next second to caress his hair. Blessing him.
"Congratulations guys!"
Arthit and Kongpob glanced behind their parents, smiling wide seeing their friends. Kongpob turned to his lover - fiance - who smiled wide at him.
"I know you would like it if our family and friends were here. So I asked them to come. Thankfully they were able to wait and not make a scene." Arthit's reply made Kongpob laugh, that was true, if their friends were there they could find them out even from ten miles away with how loud everyone is.
Arthit smiled softly, watching Kongpob being swarmed with a group hug. He was happy that everything went well and he can see how elated his fiance is. He knew how much Kongpob valued his family and friends and he also knew how much it would mean to the younger if they were there to witness such an important moment in his life. So Arthit made sure all of them were there to witness the proposal even though they would receive tons of teasing later.
And the Suttilak house was Kongpob's comfort place, the place where he had born in, brought up in. No other place would bring the same comfort as one's own house so Arthit didn't look for any other place. After seeking blessings from Kerkkrai and Rin (of course without Kongpob's knowledge) he asked them if he could propose to their son in the same house and they were more than willing to do so.
"You made me cry with those lines, Arthit! I didn't know you had that romantic bone in you!" Tootah wiped his tears and hugged Arthit.
"Tootah," Arthit rolled his eyes but smiled as he hugged the latter back.
As he pulled away Arthit turned towards Prem who was looking back at him and smiling wide. "Prem?"
"All done, my friend." Prem winked, showing off the camera in his hand making Kongpob who was watching them gasp but smile wide soon.
"We'll be able to attend a wedding soon!" Bright jumped up in excitement making everyone laugh. And the latter definitely saw the smacks he was gonna receive from Tootah and Prem.
"You should know this, Kong. Arthit practically killed us when we asked if the snowfall was really necessary since we couldn't find the machine to rent it out." Knott pointed at his friend as he talked to the junior.
"Kong loves it. He would be happy to be proposed under the snowfall. If you guys can't find one to rent, then I'll buy it myself. Anyway, snowfall is a must and you can't change my mind."
Tootah imitated Arthit's voice, keeping a straight face like how the latter had warned them almost a month ago. The act made everyone laugh.
Kongpob looked stunned as his friends squealed and teased him. While he stared at his lover who was a blushing mess, being teased by his mother and father. When their eyes met Arthit gave a sheepish smile, scratching the back of his neck.
It might seem like a small thing to others but Kongpob felt as if he couldn't talk, a lump forming in his throat at overwhelming he felt. He had always talked about going to a place full of snow, with Arthit, so he could experience the amazing moment with his lover. Till now they hadn't had any chance to do that and the fact that Arthit kept this tiny detail in his mind and included it in the proposal warms Kongpob's heart.
"Our baby brother is finally engaged! Congratulations!" Tina and Kik reached forward to hug their brother who chuckled in their tight, emotional hug.
Kongpob looked past their shoulders at Toy and Ryan, his brother-in-laws, who winked at him with a teasing smile making him shake his head chuckling.
Time went too fast after all the congratulations they received. All of them proceeded to have dinner the next moment, accompanied by all of their friends. Definitely receiving thousands of teasing from everyone that made the newly engaged couple blush. Even Emma didn't waste her chance in teasing her two uncles. Their mothers even started planning how their wedding would be and though Kongpob and Arthit whined about them planning it too soon their fathers and friends joined in it. Making them facepalm.
Finally bidding farewell to everyone Arthit and Kongpob were in their car, with the elder driving. The ride was quiet, just the music from the radio filling the car. Their hands intertwined, Arthit only pulled away when he had to change the gear and immediately held the younger's hand after that.
Kongpob kept observing the ring on his finger, smiling softly as the memory kept repeating in his head. The snowfall, Arthit confessing his love for him, the fairy lights, Arthit on his knees asking him to marry him. Numerous congratulations from friends and family. Kongpob could still feel the adrenaline rush in his system, the excitement and everything. Making him feel bouncy.
Arthit asking him to marry the elder itself brought butterflies in his stomach. The tremours of excitement. The elder had done soo much for him. Included even snowfall in their proposal because he loved snow and had always wished to experience it with the elder. Brought family and friends because he would love them to witness the moment. A complete romantic proposal. He felt soo blessed to have such a considerate man as his lover and soon-to-be husband.
"Kong."
The younger turned to face his lover, realising they had reached in front of the apartment. He smiled at Arthit who smiled back.
"What are you thinking?" Arthit caressed their intertwined hands, smiling softly, showing off his dimples.
"I just, I can't still believe this. You completely made me speechless today, P'Arthit. The confession, everything was soo overwhelming."
Arthit chuckled, seeing a tear roll down the younger's cheek. He reached forward to wipe it away, he got surprised when Kongpob held his hand and kissed his palm.
"Thank you, P'Arthit."
Arthit shook his head, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss on his fiance's lips. "Thank you for always being there for me. I can't imagine a future without you."
Kongpob smiled wide, he captured the other's soft lips between his. A short and sweet kiss. Nibbling onto each other's lips. The younger bumped their noses as he pulled away, resting their foreheads together.
"I love you, P'Ai Oon."
Arthit smiled, feeling butterflies in the fit of his stomach hearing the low whisper of the younger. His voice quivering as it held soo many emotions.
"I love you, Kong."
