That Night - 2
"Mae! You can't do that!" Arthit's eyes widened, his hands clutched on either side.
Achara glared at her son. "Arthit! You're responsible for this and you should think like an adult. You can't just run away from your responsibilities."
"But I don't even know him well!" Arthit's jaw clenched.
"You don't know him well yet you made him pregnant! What excuse do you have for that!?" Achara couldn't believe that her son was behaving soo carelessly.
"It's not only my fault! It's his fault too!" Arthit pointed at the man who was sitting on the sofa.
Achara glared at Arthit, warning him through her eyes to shut up.
"I didn't say it is only you who is responsible for this. Both you and he are responsible. But when a situation like this arises you should behave accordingly! You're the father of the child he's carrying, Arthit." Her fingers pointed at the male who was gaping at the son and mother.
"Ma'am, please don't fight." Kongpob finally voiced out, gulping when Arthit glared his way.
"It's ok son, you don't have to worry. Arthit here is bound to be responsible for this. And the first step he should take is to marry you." Achara eyed her gasping son.
Arthit can't believe what he was hearing, "Mae!"
Achara walked towards Kongpob, soothing him by caressing his back. She knows the younger male is tensed and panicked at the moment but she had to get some sense into her son.
"Marriage is not the only way, Mae! I don't even love him! We could just abort-"
"Arthit!" Achara shouted. Her eyes wide as she felt Kongpob tremble beside her.
She glanced at the younger male who had his eyes wide, his hand suddenly making a protective hold over his tummy.
"Do you know what you're speaking!? You want to kill your own child!? How could you Arthit!? Whether you love Kongpob or not, the baby is yours. It's a gift from above. The seed of both you and him. You don't have the right to destroy it!"
Achara was fuming. She cannot believe her son just said that as if it was the easiest decision to make. She was a mother too. She can't accept that.
"I didn't raise you to be like this Arthit. Behave like a responsible man." She pointed her finger at her son.
"I want your child to have both their parents with him/her! Think about the child, Arthit."
Arthit's face flushed in anger. His eyes darting towards Kongpob who had his head hung low. He knew he didn't have a say anymore. If his Mae decided something, that'll be final. And he knew his Pa supported it too, even though the elder male wasn't present he knew his Mae and Pa had discussed it.
"You'll marry Kongpob and he'll be your husband. That's final Arthit. Your wedding will take place in two days. I and Pa had decided it."
Kongpob and Arthit were equally surprised as their head snapped towards Achara. Two days. Both found different emotions flowing through them.
"I can't believe this!" Arthit bit his lips, throwing a betrayed look to his mother and his soon-to-be husband he marched away from the living room of the Rojnapath house.
Achara sighed, her silky black hair falling over her shoulders as she turned towards Kongpob who still looked shaken.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that." She apologized.
Kongpob's lips parted in surprise, he immediately shook his head. "Please, that's fine Ma'am. I'm sorry that you and your son argued because of me."
Achara shook her head, guiding Kongpob to sit down on the sofa.
"That's fine, Arthit might be my son but that doesn't give him the privilege of doing things in the wrong way and not get reprimanded for it. I'm his Mae, if not me who'll show him the right path?"
Kongpob smiled, nodding his head. Thankful that Achara understood him. He was glad that they were supportive.
"I'll talk to your parents Kongpob, we should arrange the wedding. We can't let this news leak out before your marriage. I hope you're fine." Achara gave an encouraging smile.
"It is a little sudden for me but it's for the better, I'm fine with it. Thank you for accepting me, Ma'am. I-I don't know what to feel about it." Kongpob's lips quivered.
Achara patted the male's shoulder, "It's ok. I know it's hard for you. You're young, talented but sometimes fate has other plans for us. Maybe things between you and my son will be difficult but please give it a chance. At least for the baby that's growing inside you."
Kongpob nodded his head, giving a bitter smile. "I'll, Ma'am."
"Thank you Kongpob," Achara pressed their hands. "And please call me Mae."
Kongpob gulped, "Yes...Mae."
Achara smiled widely, "Thank you for coming here, Kongpob. Our driver will drop you off at your house. Please inform your parents that I and David will come to visit them by evening."
"Sure Mae."
"I hope they're fine?" She asked concerned making Kongpob sigh.
"They're disappointed but what can we do? Things happened," Kongpob bit his lips.
"It's okay, as parents we never expected this but you both are our children. We won't let them go through this alone. Don't worry."
Kongpob doesn't know whether he should be happy or worried about all that was happening. He had braced himself for what will take place when he asked Arthit to have a talk with him three days ago. But he didn't expect it to escalate to this point. That now he was getting married to Arthit Rojnapath.
"Kongpob, what happened? Is everything okay?"
Kongpob looked up from his folded hands towards the man who came to sit in front of him on the table. He suddenly felt too afraid to speak.
"Kongpob?" Arthit raised an eyebrow.
Kongpob sighed. He eyed the elder for a minute, taking in the tensed features of the other.
"I-I went to the doctor yesterday." Kongpob gulped, cursing himself for not being able to put in the conversation in the right way. He was nervous he can't do pleasantries at the moment even though it's been three weeks since he last met the man in front of him.
Arthit's eyebrows furrowed, "Uh-Ok?"
Kongpob gazed at his shaking fingers. He bit the inside of his cheeks, feeling as if he's ready to pass out at any moment.
"Kongpob? Do you need any help? What happened? Is everything okay with you?" Arthit was getting tensed at moment.
He was already tensed when the latter called him the previous day, asking to have a 'talk' with him. He couldn't visit him yesterday as he was piled up with meetings and Kongpob understood him when he asked whether it was fine if they meet up the next day.
He was surprised when Kongpob called him to meet at a cafe. There were private cubicles for customers there and that made Arthit more nervous. He understood Kongpob had something private to talk to him.
He hadn't got a wink of sleep last night. Kongpob's voice just kept repeating in his head. The uncertainty and... fear in the voice brought unsettling thoughts in him.
"I-I'm sorry P'Arthit, I'm really sorry! I didn't mean for this to happen! I even made sure to drink my pills the next day but it somehow happened...I-I just," Kongpob clutched his fingers, tears whelming up in the corner of his eyes.
"Kongpob? Why are you saying sorry to me? What-"
"I'm pregnant P'Arthit."
Kongpob closed his eyes tight. His breath heavy as his fingers trembled in his hold. He felt his insides turning, he gulped down the feeling of the need to vomit. He had to compose himself at the moment.
"What?" Arthit's lips parted, staring blankly at Kongpob.
"W-Who is it?"
Kongpob's eyes shot open, his head snapped towards Arthit. His face ran pale as he stared at the bank face of the elder.
"What do you mean by 'who is it'?!" His jaw clenched.
Arthit blinked, "I mean, who made you-"
"P'Arthit!" Kongpob felt a vein snap in him. "I wouldn't call you here to tell you this if you weren't the one who made me pregnant!"
Arthit gasped, feeling a lump forming in his throat as he stared at the glaring young male in front of him. He wasn't ready for this.
"This is not possible!" Arthit shook his head.
Kongpob felt as if everything was falling over him. He had a little hope that the other would react a better way but he expected this. Especially from a young CEO like Arthit.
"You can't be pregnant! How are you sure that it's me!?" Arthit's face turned red. His dark orbs staring blankly at Kongpob.
The younger's eyes widened, lips trembling. "I'm three weeks pregnant, P'Arthit! In my life, I only had sex with you up until now!"
Hot tears rolled down Kongpob's cheeks when he heard a frustrated groan escape the elder's lips.
"I can't believe this! Wasn't you careful!? Why didn't you tell me!?" Arthit way of speaking and the glare thrown towards him was making Kongpob's heart clench. Feeling helpless.
"I'm sorry! I-I made sure to have my pills as soon as I got home. But I think I was ovulating at that time, the pills didn't work. And we weren't in our right state of mind when we were having sex both the times for me to tell it to you."
Kongpob knows he's at wrong here. He should have told Arthit that he was an intersex. It isn't like it was not common in their society.
He knows it's his fault. But he knew he had to tell Arthit. Arthit is the other father of the baby that was growing inside him, he had the right to know. Kongpob had the responsibility to tell it to him.
"Fuck! I can't believe this!" Arthit banged on the table startling Kongpob.
The elder stood up absurdly making Kongpob gasp at the man. "We have to go to the hospital. Now. Come with me."
"But-" Kongpob eyes widened when the other pulled him by his arm forcing him to follow him.
Kongpob doesn't know what he should be feeling. He felt nauseous with all the sudden movements and wash of emotions but he held it in.
Arthit's reaction was not helping him either. Kongpob didn't think him fainting in the middle of the road to his way home from his office last day would lead him to find that he was pregnant.
He isn't sure what was the feeling he experienced when the doctor happily announced it to him. But one thing that he was sure of was that he was never going to get rid of the life that is growing inside him.
He won't do that, he can't do that.
The whole ride to the hospital was filled with awkward silence. Kongpob just stared at his intertwined fingers over his lap as he heard Arthit mumble curses.
The next thing he knew was him forcing Arthit to stop the car as he hurriedly got out of it and threw up at the side of the road. He was glad that it wasn't a sidewalk and there were bushes on the other side.
He threw up all that he had that day, even if it was just a simple Sandwich and juice. He felt his world spinning so he had to stand in the same position for a few minutes.
All this time Arthit just watched it from inside the car. Not minding to walk out or help him. And Kongpob wasn't in the state to ponder about it.
After all, Arthit was no one to him, except for the fact that he was his baby's other father. And maybe a one night stand to him.
Kongpob was thankful that he had carried his office bag with him. He took out his water bottle that he carries all the time and took huge gulps from it before washing his mouth.
Taking a deep sigh he returned inside the car.
"I'm sorry," Kongpob mumbled, closing the door. He didn't get a reply from the elder. Arthit just started driving. No one spoke. The awkwardness increasing between them.
As Arthit parked the car at the parking lot of the hospital Kongpob informed him he had gone for the checkup after the elder asked, the younger suddenly felt a dread grip over him.
Why did Arthit want to take him to the hospital?
"Come on," Arthit didn't spare a glance at the other male as he got out of the car, walking straight towards the building.
Kongpob had to fasten his pace to catch up to Arthit. But he didn't complain.
"Who's the doctor you consulted?" Arthit's voice was cold, and it ached Kongpob's heart somehow.
"Dr Ann." Kongpob gulped.
He watched the elder took a few steps forward as he leaned on the reception counter, between other people who were waiting at the sides.
"Excuse me? I would like to get an appointment with Dr Ann."
Kongpob closed his eyes. Wrapping his arm protectively around his abdomen. His heart was beating fast as he kept tapping his foot on the floor. Taking slow and steady breaths to calm his racing heart.
"Arthit? Why are you here?"
Kongpob's eyes shot open hearing an unfamiliar voice beside him. He realised Arthit was already standing in front of him and a middle aged woman was standing beside the young CEO.
"Mae?!" Arthit eyes widened as he snapped his face towards the familiar source of voice.
Achara eyed Arthit and Kongpob. Her eyebrows raised.
"What are you doing here Arthit? And who is this?"
Arthit gulped, panicking as he glanced at Kongpob.
"He-he's my friend. I came to help him out with his appointment." Arthit hoped his mother bought the excuse but he could see it from her eyes that she knew something.
"You're lying on my face now Arthit? I heard you asking for an appointment with Dr Ann. I know what doctor she is, Arthit." Achara's jaw clenched when she saw Kongpob panicking and avoiding her gaze.
"I just came to help him-" before Arthit could say anything he was dragged away by his Mae leaving a gaping Kongpob behind.
Kongpob isn't sure what he felt when Arthit said he was just a 'friend' to his mother but it really broke him. He cannot imagine how his further journey will be like but he's sure of one thing. He's not going to give up on his baby.
Achara knew her son was lying back then. She was his mother, she knew when her son was hiding something from her. And it did make sense when she saw how Kongpob reacted to her words and Arthit's too.
She confronted Arthit that day after pulling him aside. Her son was good at acting but it didn't go unnoticed in her eyes. She wanted to know why her son booked an appointment with a pregnancy specialist. And what his relationship with Kongpob was.
To say that she was shocked was an understatement. She didn't know how to react to the information she got. She didn't expect it from her son. But she had no choice, she can't push that younger boy for this. They both had a part in this.
So she did what was the best choice. Arthit had to learn his responsibilities. If he can't accept them then he wasn't on the right track. She can't just leave it like that.
If Arthit wasn't ready for it, as his parents Achara and David was bound to correct him and force him to take responsibility. He could at least give it a try, right?
****
"I pronounce you husband and husband. You may kiss your partner now."
Kongpob gulped as he stared at his now husband's eyes, those deep dark orbs staring at him as if he had destroyed everything. And Kongpob knew that he did destroy a part of it. But now, there was no backing off.
He closed his eyes when the same pair of lips, that once hungrily devoured his senses and body, pressed against his trembling ones. Just a peck.
Kongpob heard the guests who attended the wedding cheer for them but he didn't feel excited or happy. This was like a drama to him, too fast and robotic. The new married couple had fake smiles plastered on their faces as guests started to wish them a happy married life.
Arthit glanced at his husband, seeing the man turned a little pale. He sighed, placing a hand on Kongpob's shoulder he leaned in to whisper to him.
"Do you want to rest?"
Kongpob looked taken back but he smiled softly and shook his head. "I-I'm fine. It's just fatigue."
Arthit nodded, giving his bleak face to the latter he continues to talk to the guest. The younger could only sigh. He wanted to hate the man in front of him but he just couldn't do it.
Kongpob felt as if it took hours before he was about to enter Arthit's car, to drive towards Arthit's condo. The place where they're going to stay as a married couple.
"Son, please take care of yourself." Maya took her son's hand in hers. Silent tears rolling down her cheeks as she gazed at Kongpob.
"There's a life living inside of you. I'm sorry that I and Pa lashed out on you when you told us about this. We're really sorry son."
Kongpob bit his inner cheek, not wanting to break down. He shook his head, tightening the hold of their hands. He smiled softly at his sister and father who stood behind Maya.
"I-I understand, Ma. If I were in your place I would have done the same too. But I'm thankful that you guys came around and supported me. That's all I ask." His voice cracked in between his small sobs.
Maya nodded her head, pulling her youngest in her arms. "I love you Kong, if there's anything... anything you want to talk to, we're always here for you."
Kongpob let out a teary smile. "Thank you, Ma."
Kerkkrai took a step forward pulling Kongpob into a hug. He caressed his son's hair as he placed a soft kiss on the crown of his head.
"If you need any help, call us. We're always here, Kong." Kerkkrai mumbled, his eyes fixed on his son's husband who was speaking with his mother and father as well.
"I'll Por, don't worry." Kongpob gulped down the lump that formed in his throat as he clutched onto his father's blazer.
"Know that we love you, Kong." Kik, his sister who stayed silent all the while finally gave a teary smile to her brother, caressing his back.
"I know P'Kik, I-I'm sorry," Kongpob turned towards his sister.
Kik punched Kongpob's shoulder, "Stop saying sorry! Will you?"
Kongpob chuckled, nodded his head. Before he knew he was pulled into his sister's warm arms. He sighed contently into the hug.
"Learn to give this a chance, Kong. If it gets too hard I'm here for you, Ma and Por are here for you."
Kongpob nodded, pulling away he gave a quick glance at his small family. "I love you guys."
The younger male turned towards his husband who doesn't look soo pleased as he talked to the latter's mother and father. He sighed, bidding bye to his parents as he got inside Arthit's car.
Setting himself at the passenger seat, he smiled politely at his teary-eyed parents through the glass window. He knows how everything was overwhelming for his family.
He just wanted this day to end.
Arthit just listened to his mother and father with a blank face. He had no intention to listen to the blabbering made by them but he respects his parents.
"Arthit, you're a husband now. You're going to be a father soon. Stop being selfish and think about Kongpob and your baby too," David placed a hand on his son's shoulder.
Arthit sighed, "You just don't understand me."
Achara raised her eyebrow, "Arthit-"
"I-I can't just love someone like that!" Arthit whisper-yelled. Not wanting to get attention from others or his husband's parents.
"I didn't tell you to love him at the first glance Arthit, love isn't something you feel over one fine morning. It's a process.
It's not someone's beauty or appearance that make you love someone. It's the small details that they show to you, the simple good morning when you wake up in the morning or the assuring hug you get from that person when you feel down. It's way the other understand you. That's what makes you fall in love." Achara's hold on her husband's arm tightened making David pull her closer to him.
"It might be only a few days since I started spending time with Kongpob but I can tell you that he puts other's feelings ahead of his own. He's only doing this because he doesn't want his child to be without his/her other father. And I can tell you that he genuinely likes you, Arthit."
The young CEO doesn't know how to respond to that. He had set his mind on it, that he would never be able to fall in love with Kongpob. He still loved Namtan deep inside, even if he told others he was moving on, he never did. 5 years of their relationship made it hard for him.
"Arthit," David's voice had something in it that made Arthit shiver.
"I know what's going on in your mind. Past is past. She left you, she isn't coming back. I know you had a lot of expectations about your relationship with her but fate has other plans. She isn't coming back, you have to move on. Take this as the first step for it."
How do parents always know what's going on in their children's mind? Arthit wanted an answer for that, he knew no matter how much he tried his Mae and Pa saw through him.
"Now go, and please. Give this a chance." Achara reached forward to hug her son.
"Don't make it hard for both of you. Trust me, he's holding back a lot too. It's not only you." She whispered to him, placing a kiss on his forehead.
Arthit nodded. Bowing at his parents he turned to get inside the car. Sighing as he saw Kongpob looking at his way as he sat beside him in the passenger seat.
David leaned down to look at Kongpob through the open car window. "Kongpob, take care. Have good rest. If you need anything you're always free to call me or Mae. Ok?"
Kongpob smiled politely, nodding his head. "Yes, Pa. Thank you."
"Take care you both. We'll surely come to visit you guys." Achara added as she directed her sweet motherly smile to her two sons.
Biding farewell David gave the driver instruction to start the ride. The two sets of parents glanced at eachother as they watched the car drive away. Hoping in their minds that the two finds comfort in eachother. That they both accept one another. They wish both of them could give this a chance.
"Thank you," Kongpob smiled at their driver who helped him to set up his luggage inside the condo.
The drive smiled and nodded his head before excusing himself out of the room. Kongpob glanced at his belongings, two large suitcases placed on the corner of the living room.
He glanced in the direction Arthit had went. The elder had closed himself in his room as soon as they got inside the condo. And Kongpob was somewhat glad for it, it gave him time to process everything. The thought of living under the same roof as Arthit Rojnapath send chills down him. It just feels awkward, now that he knows where's his stand in the elder's life is.
He knows Arthit hates him now. He recognises the changes. The latter isn't like the man who he had a long talk with at the bar last time, he isn't the person who devoured him with his stares and touches. Arthit changed completely.
And he knows it's his fault. Maybe if things weren't like this they might have a better chance. He knows it's he who made Arthit hate him. But he couldn't do much, he knew he had to embrace what fate has for him.
"Take a deep breath Kong," he whispered to himself. Taking steady, deep breaths.
He was still wearing his wedding reception suit, he had to unpack the luggage to find his clothes. He had previously taken a quick tour over the spacious large condo that Arthit owns while he was waiting for his luggage.
There were three bedrooms, a large living room, kitchen and a study room. A pool outside the condo. It was beautiful. The place is really spacious and large that Kongpob felt soo lost in it.
The younger let out a sigh as he walked towards the luggage. Gripping over the suitcase he contemplated whether he should ask Arthit's help or not.
"Don't carry heavy objects, don't stress out. Always make sure you don't do heavy workouts, be careful during the first trimester."
Kongpob gulped remembering the words of his doctor. He bit his lips, how can he even ask Arthit to help him when the man hates him?
"It's just this one time," he mumbled. Pulling out the trolly handle of the one suitcase he started pulling the large suitcase towards the other room, beisde Arthit's.
They had already talked about this. Arthit had casually talked to him during the wedding reception when he saw Kongpob massaging his forehead that the latter could immediately take rest at their guestroom as soon as they reach Arthit's condo.
That it was better if they stayed in two different rooms. It suited their current state of mind.
And Kongpob didn't complain.
"What are you doing?"
Kongpob flinched hearing the deep voice of his husband. He looked up to see Arthit towelling his wet hair, in shorts and tank top, definitely out of the shower.
"I-I wanted to change my clothes so thought to move my luggage to the room." He gulped when he saw Arthit's eyebrows furrow.
"Move aside, I'll do it." Arthit walked forward, his towel placed over his shoulder.
Kongpob took a few steps back as Arthit moved both of the suitcases to the guest room near Arthit's. The younger followed behind, looking at the spacious room. With white and navy blue walls. A large glass window opposite to the bed.
"There you go. If you need anything call me. Mae would kill me if she knows that I let you pick us these heavy things. So yeah," Arthit shrugged his shoulders. His pale skin looked paler and tired that Kongpob wanted to ask if the latter was okay but he knows he shouldn't.
"T-Thank you."
Arthit nodded his head. He walked towards the door, not sparing a glance at his husband who just stood by the foot of the bed, gazing at him.
The elder stopped in his tracks when he was about to close the door.
"Kongpob."
The younger gaped as he looked up at the elder's back. The broad shoulders looked tensed he could see that the latter was taking deep breaths.
"I have something important to talk to you, tomorrow. Just wanted to tell. Good night."
Kongpob gasped as he watched Arthit close the door with a slight thud. He gulped not knowing what he should be doing, why did Arthit have to say it like that? It made his stomach churn. The tension was rising in him, not knowing what Arthit meant by having an 'important' talk.
The next thing the latter knew was running towards the bathroom, vomiting out all the little food he had managed to eat that night. His hands clutched over the toilet bowl as he tried to stabilize himself, feeling the headache make its way into him. He groaned as he slumped on the floor, breathing heavily.
He closed his eyes, his lips parted slightly as his breath turned even as seconds passed. A single tear rolled down his cheek.
"Really? You believe him just like that?"
Arthit glanced at his friend, sighing he nodded his head.
"What else should I do? It's my child, Nevin."
Nevin shook his head, "What if you're not the real father!? He can be doing this for money Arthit, this isn't the first time you face something like this. You can't do anything now, you already married him."
Arthit turned to the side, gazing at his now-husband who was talking with his mother over the table. It was their reception party, everyone looked soo happy and he could see they were enjoying the night but he didn't, he felt as if this is the worst day of his life.
"I think I'm sure that the child is mine, Nevin. I believe that he only had done it with me." Arthit massage this forehead.
Nevin raised his eyebrows, "How do you know that?"
Arthit sighed, narrating the story of how he met Kongpob. Nevin had been a close friend of him ever since he started working at the company after graduation. The latter wasn't there when all this mess was going on as the company had sent him abroad for working with one of their clients. Nevin was only able to arrive the day before their wedding.
"Gosh, this is really messed up." Nevin shook his head, pitying his friend.
"But I would like you to keep an eye on him. You can't just believe him like that. I think the innocent behaviour he puts on is just a facade, wait till he gets a full hand on everything, you'll see how his behaviour is going to change."
Arthit's eyes widened at what Nevin told him, looking at him in disbelief he didn't know what to say to that. His mind kept repeating about what the latter told him.
"I don't think-"
"Don't Arthit," Nevin shook his head. "As a friend, I would like you to not trust this man for now. Look, he's clearly coming from a different background than us. And he had been taking different part-time jobs too. Can smell the desperation for money there."
Arthit gulped, "You can't just judge someone with their status, Nevin."
His friend rolled his eyes, "Think about your exes. They were all there for the money in this Arthit. And now Namtan even did the same. She choose a better chance when she got one. And there were past cases where even some of our employees said that they were in a relationship with you and you weren't paying attention to them, one even told she was pregnant with your child! Even though we were able to prove the lie in it people are still thirsty for Rojnapath's money."
Arthit looked away, all calculations going inside his head. And he somehow felt what Nevin was trying to say was right. Maybe he shouldn't trust Kongpob.
"Do something Arthit, maybe put an agreement between you both or something. Get it done so that he doesn't cheat on you." Nevin leaned on the wall, sipping his glass of wine.
Arthit nodded his head, "I-I think that's right. I should do something."
"You still love Namtan, don't you?" Nevin asked after a moment of silence, observing his friend.
Arthit gulped, his mouth suddenly felt dry. "I-I don't know."
"Buddy, really?"
"I said I don't know! It's-it's just soo hard! I can't move on from her! Even though I said all that to her, told myself again and again that I hate her and will never want to see her I can't fool myself. I still have a hope that she'll come back to me, Nevin. But...I..."
Nevin watched his friend chunk down the glass of wine. Letting out a frustrated groan. He pitied Arthit, how hurt he was to be in this situation. But he knows it's not only Arthit's fault, both have an equal part in this.
"You'll get better, Arthit. I don't think she'll come back again."
Arthit opened the door to his condo, a file in his hand as he walked in. He stopped in his tracks when he saw his husband inside the kitchen.
"Oh, you came." Kongpob looked up, giving a polite smile to the latter.
"Yeah," Arthit shrugged his shoulders. Placing the file in his hand on the dining table. A pen right next to it.
"Do you want to have something? I made some sandwiches." Kongpob asked, placing the sandwiches on the plate.
"No, it's fine. You can have them." Arthit gulped, glancing between the file and at his husband.
Kongpob nodded his head. Taking the plate towards the dining table. He just woke an hour ago when he didn't find his husband inside the condo. He saw a note placed at the kitchen counter saying the latter had gone out and will return soon.
"P-P'Arthit? Are you okay?" Kongpob asked, gripping the chair as he watched Arthit get tensed.
"I-Well, I need to talk to you." Arthit stared into the younger's eyes. He bit the inside of his cheek to stop himself from tensing up.
Kongpob's lips parted, his eyes wide realising where it was going. He remembered the latter's words yesterday night. Asking him to have a talk. He had completely forgotten about it but now that Arthit brought it up it was making his heartbeat crazy.
"What-What happened? Is something wrong?"
Arthit took a deep breath. Opening the file on the table he took out a sheet of paper which had writings over it and placed it in front of Kongpob.
"What is this?" The younger asked, confused as he took the paper in his hands.
Arthit stared blankly at his husband, observing as Kongpob's expressions change as each second passes.
"I want you to sign this Kongpob. I can't risk this."
The younger snapped his gaze towards his husband, "What do you mean by this!? P'Arthit, you can't do this to me!"
Arthit shook his head, "I can't trust you. I don't know who you really are, I don't know if I can believe what you do in front of me. This is just a phase Kongpob, this marriage won't last long. This is all bullshit."
Kongpob gasped, feeling his tears whelm up in the corner of his eyes. "P'Arthit, we have just started our relationship... just-can't we give this a chance?"
"Do you think I'll ever fall in love with you, Kongpob?" Arthit scoffed when he saw the other's face turn blank.
"This was never part of my plan, Kongpob. Being with you or having this child wasn't in my plan. I-It might sound stupid but I can't forget Namtan. And aside from that, I can't trust you with what I have. What if you are like those cheaters out there? I can't risk it."
Kongpob couldn't believe what he was hearing. "I can't believe you're saying this to me! You know that my ex cheated on ME! If I was like one of those out there I could have already caused trouble for you after I slept with you at first!"
Arthit clutched his palm into a fist. His eyes glaring at the younger male. "I don't care! You'll get what you want to live further, just sign this paper!"
Tears rolled down Kongpob's honey skin, his lips trembling. "I-I can't do this, P'Arthit. Not putting my child between this!"
Arthit slammed his fist on the table, "Just do this Kongpob! If I give my child to you, you'll make them starve! We have to think practical here! You don't have enough support to look after my child!"
"Our child P'Arthit! Our child! I have right over it too! You can't do this!" Kongpob was shaking, his grip on the table tightened.
Arthit's face was flushed in anger. It always bothered him when things didn't go as he planned. It disturbed him when things didn't go as he planned.
"I don't care Kongpob! You have to sign this, you can't ruin my life!"
Kongpob gasped, tears kept rolling down his cheeks as he watched Arthit push the pen towards him. Sniffling he took the pen with shaky hands, not finding the energy to stand he took a seat. His eyes fixed on the paper in his hand.
The paper that held an agreement between him and Arthit. Stating that they will be divorcing eachother after one year of their relationship. Giving the custody of their child to Arthit and as compensation providing Kongpob with a 2 million baht cash cheque.
"How long have you been thinking about this?" Kongpob asked, not sparing a glance at his husband.
"Long enough to know that this is right."
Kongpob scoffed. With a smile on his face, he crossed out a sentence on the agreement paper.
"What are you doing!?" Arthit shouted, before he knew Kongpob had already signed on the paper and pushed it towards him.
"I had a hope that you would try to understand me P'Arthit. But I guess I failed in that too. You were cheated by your ex and you blamed her in front of me that day! And what are you doing now?" Kongpob stood up absurdly from the chair.
"How dare you to put a value to our child, to me who's carrying it for 10 months, P'Arthit!?"
Kongpob marching towards his room as he wiped his tears aggressively.
Arthit gasped as he watched his husband walk away. Letting out a troubled breath he flinched when the bedroom door was banged shut.
With trembling hand, the elder reached over to take the paper. Taking it in his hands he gasped as his eyes fell on the writing.
Kongpob had crossed out the part where he had to get a compensation of 2 million and then signed the paper.
Arthit doesn't know what he should do now. Why did Kongpob do that?
His heart started beating fast, his nose flaring as he breathed heavily.
Maybe he shouldn't have listened to his friend's words.
