Kongpob leaned against his headboard, feeling tired.
Glancing at his phone on the nightstand, he stretched his hand to get it and once he did his fingers automatically took his boyfriend's contact number.
Kongpob bit his lips, should he call him? What if he's busy?
It's been a week since he saw his boyfriend, and he was missing the latter soo much, adding to it his stress was making him feel soo weak.
He looked up at the clock and found that he still had half an hour for his first class for the day. His morning classes where cancelled so he had taken that time to rest more since he had been feeling off from yesterday evening.
Kongpob took a deep breath before he pressed the call icon. He placed the phone to his ear and waited for his lover to pick up the call.
"Hello, Kong! What's it?"
Kongpob smiled when he heard his P's voice, "Are you busy P?"
"Will have a meeting in 10 minutes, Kong. Don't you have classes?"
"Yeah, I'm about to go." Kongpob sighed, he had told Arthit that his morning classes were cancelled when he messaged 'good morning' to him.
"You okay, Kong? You don't usually call me during these hours." Arthit asked worriedly.
Kongpob smiled, "I just miss you P, not feeling really well."
Arthit chuckled from the other end, "The last time you said that to me, you tricked me."
"Come on P." Kongpob whined, he moved his phone away as he coughed. Making sure Arthit didn't hear him, he doesn't want the other to worry about him.
"What? Aren't I telling the truth? You whined like a baby telling me you're soo tired, I was soo worried about you."
Kongpob bit his lips, standing up he walked towards his table to take his bag. He had already dressed to go to campus, he just has to leave now.
"And what happened in the end? You just tricked me so you could see, telling me you just miss me. Cheeky brat." Arthit giggled at the memory.
"But P thi-"
"Kong, can I call you later? Our meeting will start soon. I'm a little busy Kong."
Kongpob smiled, forcing a smile on his face even though he knows his P can't see him, he hummed. "Okay P, call you later. Love you."
"Yeah. Bye."
Kongpob sighed as he pulled his phone away from his ear. He looked at the screen, his lover's name on it.
Kongpob kept his phone inside his pocket and slung his bag over his shoulder. Coughing into his fist, he couldn't help but feel a tug inside him at what Arthit said.
It's true that the last time Arthit came over worrying, Kongpob said that he was just missing him, but the truth was that he was feeling really down. He just wanted to see his P and lay in his embrace, he didn't want him to worry about him. He knows Arthit has a lot on his plate so he didn't want to bother so he came up with the excuse.
As a fourth year, they had a lot of assignments and exams. Along with that being the ex-head hazer he had duties to look after the third year hazing, they had meetings and other occasions. Him being nice to others are taken as an advantage by all, his classmates ask for his help, even the juniors ask him to tutor them. Being the nice person he's, he couldn't say no when someone asks him for help. So even though he had to sit past midnight to cover up his works he helps others. And eventually, it was taking a toll on him.
Arthit had already warned him about being taken advantage of by others when he was a sophomore and a third year, his P knew him soo well. He knows his lover only meant good for him but being the soft-hearted person he's, he can't deny when someone asks him for help. He just can't feel the heart to say 'no'.
Kongpob sighed, feeling a headache he decided to not take his bike since he doesn't think he could focus if he has to drive. He knows Arthit doesn't mean whatever he said but still, it made him feel hurt.
He could felt warm from inside, an odd kind of warmth but he just ignored it. Maybe the stress he was feeling was just bothering his mind.
Sometimes he wishes that he wasn't soo nice to others, that he could say no to their faces. What hurts him the most is that, after all the helps he had done for them, some of them never show the gratitude for what he had done for them. If Kongpob was the one asking for their help, they would find thousands of excuses and move away from. He's not a person who accepts something in return but when he needs someone the people who he helps with all his heart isn't there for him.
For that case he's thankful to his group of friends. They're always for him and that's all he needs.
Kongpob massaged his temple, there's no use in dwelling upon it.
"I don't even understand anything in this! Was this even there in our syllabus!?" Oak groaned as he turned the pages of the book.
"Concentrate in class! Then you'll get it!" Maprang smacked Oak's head.
"I don't even remember this!" Oak cried out.
"Tune down Oak! It's a library." May glared at her friend.
Oak puffed some air, he looked up at Kongpob who was marking in a book. He pushed his book towards Kongpob who looked back at him.
"You're the only one who'll help me! Please rescue me, your highness!" Oak joined his hands together.
"Do it yourself! He already has a lot on his plate!" Aim pushed the book away from Kongpob.
Oak cried out, "Kong!"
Kongpob chuckled, shaking his head he took Oak's book.
"Just write down these points, and read them you'll be able to tackle it. It's an easy topic." Kongpob replied weakly as he underlined some lines with his pencil.
"Thank you, Kong! You're a lifesaver!" Oak gave a flying kiss making Kongpob chuckle.
"P'Arthit shouldn't see you do that," Prae teased.
Her smile faded when she didn't get a reaction from Kongpob. It was weird. She shared a glance with her friends who had the same confused expression on them.
"Oh! Aim, here you go. My part."
Aim snapped out of his thoughts when Kongpob handed him a file.
"Kong, why did you do this early? Its submission date is in two days." Aim raised the file that Kongpob gave him.
Kongpob just shrugged his shoulders, "I won't be able to submit it then if I postponed it to do another day. I'm having other works in the next two days."
"What's making you soo busy? We're studying with you and we don't feel soo busy, except for the assignments though." Oak pointed out.
Aim watched his friend's movements, he could see that something was bothering Kongpob and something didn't sit well with him.
"Didn't P'Arthit call you today, Kong?" Aim asked before Kongpob could reply to Oak.
"Of course he did, why did you ask Aim?" Kongpob gave a forced smile to his friend.
"Ah-nothing, just asking."
Kongpob gave a strange look to his friend before moving his attention to the set of books in his hand.
"You look pale, Kong. Are you okay?" Prae asked as she observed Kongpob.
"It's nothing, I'm fine." Kongpob dismissed it.
"I'll go give this to the juniors. They had asked for this yesterday." Kongpob stood up from his seat and walked towards the end of the library where the juniors where seated.
"He seems really off these days, he's overworking himself," Prae said as she sighed.
"Yeah I felt it too," May agreed.
"He had been running behind the third years with Tew, they had caused some issues so they asked them to help them out." Wad added, Tew wasn't there with them as he's at with the professor.
"It's Kong we're talking about, he's always ready to help everyone in this world except for himself." Prae pointed out.
Aim sighed hearing it, it's true, Kongpob had been like that since he started to see him. Aim knows how much Kongpob cares for his fellows even if they don't care back. Kongpob always helps anyone who approached him with a request, he gives his heart to it.
Aim won't deny it, Kongpob had helped him a lot. In academics and in life, not only him but others in his circle too. But the fact that was different is that, they know where their limit was. They never made Kongpob overdo anything but he could see how the juniors were taking advantage of Kongpob and also their classmates.
They're having several group projects and Kongpob is set up with different groups, not only his circle. And all of them knew how the other group of students were taking advantage of Kongpob's kindness.
He just hopes Kongpob won't overwork himself. Even though he doubts it.
Aim turned his head back to watch Kongpob who was explaining some things to the juniors. His eyes narrowed when he saw Kongpob's legs swaying.
He had been observing Kong since he came to the classes, Wad even caught Kong dozing off in between lectures, which was not Kongpob at all. Maprang also told them her worry when she didn't see Kongpob checking his phone at all, she even said that he and Arthit might have had a fight. Kongpob always checks his phone to message Arthit or to see if the other had sent him any whenever he's free.
"Guys, I think we need to help Kong." Aim stood up from the chair, he had a nagging feeling inside him.
"Huh? Why?" Oak asked as he looked up from his book.
"I don't think Kong is well, look at him. He's trying hard to stand upright." Aim pointed at Kongpob who was at the other end of the library.
All of them turned their heads to face Kongpob, worry took over their features when they saw Kongpob massaging his forehead as he leaned his weight into his other hand on the table.
"Am going towards him," Aim said before he left their table.
"I'll join too," Wad volunteered as he stood up and walked along with Aim.
"P'Kong, are you okay?" One of the Freshers asked seeing Kongpob massage his forehead.
"Yeah, just...just a headache." Kongpob dismissed it. Be felt a burn in his throat as he spoke.
"You can sit here P."
Kongpob looked at the seat, that one of them vacated for him.
"No Nong, it's fine. I'll get going. I hope you understood the topic, you can read the notes I gave if you have any doubts." Kongpob tried to stand straight, he felt his legs go weak. He swayed making him clutch onto the table to stand straight.
"P'Kong, are you really okay?" A junior stood up and caught Kongpob's hand.
"P you're burning!"
Kongpob politely withdrew from the junior's hold when he heard what the other said.
"Nong, I'm fine. Please excuse me." Kongpob nodded at the group of juniors who looked at him worriedly.
Kongpob blinked his eyes a few times to make his vision clear as he started walking, he could feel his knees go weak and it felt as if his whole system was shutting down.
"Kongpob!"
Kong looked to see two figures walking towards him, he clutched his head when pain shot through it. The next thing he knew was that everything turned black.
*****
"Yes P'Earth, I'll hand it." Arthit smiled politely as he took the file from his colleague.
"Thank you, Arthit." Earth smiled back at him before she took a seat.
Arthit nodded his head before he walked out of the room to hand the file to the department head. He slowly pulled out his phone to check whether there were any messages from the younger man. He couldn't help but feel down when he saw there was none. It was soo not like Kongpob, his lover uses every chance to chat with him, the latter knows his schedule so he messages him with cheesy lines making him smile in his seat. It was always a source of encouragement for him.
He doesn't remember Kongpob telling him he might be busy so it was worrying him. An unknown tug forming in his chest.
Or did Kongpob forget to message him? No, that wasn't his lover at all. He's not the one to forget things. Especially if it's related to Arthit.
It was past four in the evening, still, there weren't any messages. The last time they contacted eachother was before Arthit went to attend the meeting in the afternoon.
Arthit couldn't help but let out a sigh, maybe he's just overthinking. He pocketed his phone back before he entered the cabin to give the file.
After coming out of the cabin he walked towards his department room when his phone started ringing in his pocket. He took out his phone, anticipating it was his lover.
He raised his eyebrow when he saw Aim's name on his phone screen. Answering the call he kept his phone in his ear.
"Hello, Aim."
"P'Arthit, Kong is in the hospital."
"What!?" Arthit felt his heart beat fast against his chest
"What happened? Is he okay?" Arthit asked worriedly, he walked faster to his cabin.
"He fainted P, the doctor said he exhausted himself. That's the first-hand information we got, the doctor is still checking on him."
Arthit bit his lips, the latter was completely fine when he last chec-
Arthit's eyes widened when the sudden realization hit him. Kong wasn't joking.
"Okay Nong, thank you. You're at the hospital near the campus, right?"
"Kharp P."
"Okay, I'll arrive soon." Arthit hung up, controlling the tears that were threatening to fall from his eyes he entered his cabin and took his bag. Bidding an early goodbye to his colleagues who looked at him worriedly, he walked out.
He reported his emergency at the reception, his shift was about to end in half an hour so it wasn't much of a huddle to leave early.
Arthit took a cab to the hospital. He felt like crying, not because Kong was in the hospital, sure he is worried sick for his lover but he knows the latter will be fine, what caused him more pain was the fact that he didn't believe Kong when he said he wasn't feeling well.
Now that he thinks back to their conversation, he realises that Kongpob's voice was not the usual cheerful ones. And the latter didn't talk much to him too. Arthit buried his face in his palms, why didn't he observe those signals. In his tensed phase for the meeting he didn't even notice that his lover was trying to talk about his health state, he felt like a failure.
By the time he reached the hospital he saw Wad waiting outside. They greeted eachother.
"I know you would be panicked, so I waited outside for you." Wad gave a small smile.
Arthit smiled back thankfully, "Thank you Wad."
"Come with me P."
Both of them walked to the emergency room, Arthit's heart ached to see Kongpob's pale face. The latter was sleeping and an IV drip was put to his hand.
Arthit greeted the doctor who was about to walk out of the room.
"How is he, doctor?" Arthit asked concerned.
"You're the patient's?"
Arthit gulped, "His lover."
The doctor gave a wide smile at him as he nodded.
"The patient is fine. You can take him home after two drips of IV. I had talked to the patient before he fell asleep again. Had run some tests too. It seems that he had been experiencing insomnia, his coffee intakes are also high so it affects his health too. His blood level has decreased. Make sure he eats healthy and get enough sleep."
Arthit nodded his head, "Thank you, doctor."
The doctor patted Arthit's shoulder before he walked away. Arthit sighed, he looked up from Kongpob's figure when Aim stood beside him.
"What really happened, Aim?"
Aim and Wad shared a glance at each other, Wad nodded his head.
"He fainted at the library. We took him here." Aim answered Arthit's question.
Arthit rubbed his face tiredly, "He had told me he wasn't feeling well, I thought he was joking to see me. I should have listened to him."
"P'Arthit, it's not your fault. We know how Kong is, he didn't even tell us that he was not well. We asked him a million times whether he was fine or not, he said he was. We noticed that he wasn't being himself today but he kept on dismissing it."
"He'll never learn," Arthit mumbled to himself.
"Thank you Aim and Wad, sorry for the trouble. You can go back now, I'll stay here."
"It's okay P, we'll take our leave now." Wad and Aim waied at the elder.
Arthit placed his bag at the table nearby and walked towards Kongpob's bed, he sat beside the latter and placed a hand on the others, caressing it with his thumb.
Now that he was observing the latter closer, he could see dark circles under his eyes and his face was pale. Arthit bit his lips, controlling his tears.
"P'Arthit."
Arthit looked up to see Kongpob staring back at him.
"I'm sorry," Kongpob whispered, guilt taking over him.
Arthit shook his head, "Why didn't you tell me?!"
"I tried to tell you, but you said I was joking. And you were busy, I didn't want to dwell upon it again."
Arthit groaned, "Kongpob, you knew you were not well! Then you could have taken rest!"
"I had works to do P. Had to submit group projects and I had promised the juniors that I would tutor them. I couldn't let them wait." Kongpob reasoned.
"Now I get why you exhausted yourself! You're helping everyone around but not yourself!" Arthit glared at Kongpob.
"I told you to stop drinking coffee every time. Why do you have to drink it soo much that you started experiencing insomnia?"
Kongpob bit his lips. He doesn't think Arthit will take it easy if he tells him everything.
"Stop thinking that bullshit! If you dare to hide it again from me you'll face your head hazer again 0062!" Arthit was flaring, he was blaming himself inside at the same time he wanted to know what Kongpob was hiding from him.
Kongpob sighed, he knows he's doomed if Arthit gets anymore angry.
"I have to stay up late to finish my assignments P, to make me stay awake I drank more coffee than I used to. And I'm really sorry about that." Kongpob gave a small smile to Arthit when the latter helped him to sit up.
"Knowing you, you're always punctual about your works. Why do you have to stay awake soo late? Don't tell you are soo busy helping others that you neglected yourself." Arthit narrowed his eyes, he knows that's the truth. He just wants to see how the latter reacts to him.
"I'm sorry," Kongpob looked down at his hands.
Arthit just wanted to scream but he knows he shouldn't do that, not when Kongpob feels soo emotionally down.
"Kong, I have warned you many times. Stop being a hero." Arthit took Kongpob's hand in his.
"Accept that you're no superhero, you're a human too. You have your own limits. I have told you numerous times that people are taking advantage of your kindness. You shouldn't give your all into the people who need your help. Give attention to the ones who only deserve it. It's them who need your help, it's not your responsibility but theirs. Try to take control of things Kongpob."
"They're the ones who need you. So it's you who have control over it. Don't let them take control of the situation. If you are not able to help them then tell them! You're the one who makes decisions on it! Don't think everything is on you! Let them take their part in it. You do yours, let them do theirs. You don't have to take their duties on top of yours."
Kongpob bit his lips, "I'm sorry that I made you worried P. I know that you've been struggling with work so I didn't want to make it hard for you by telling my problems."
Arthit took a deep breath, "I'm your boyfriend Kongpob."
Kongpob smiled, it's rare to hear words like that from Arthit's mouth.
Arthit rolled his eyes seeing the toothy smile on the other.
"Work is work, but that doesn't mean I don't have time for you. Yes, I might be busy some times and it might affect our time together but that doesn't mean I don't care for my lover."
"I'm lucky to have a lover like you, P'Arthit." Kongpob placed a hand on his lover's.
Arthit rolled his eyes, "Can you stop being cheesy for a day?"
"But you love it!" Kongpob winked at Arthit.
Arthit let out a chuckle, "Repeat this then you'll face who your lover truly is."
"Oh... P'Arthit Kharp." Kongpob whines making Arthit ruffle his hair.
"Speak up Kong, share more things to me. Speak the things out that bother your mind. I don't want things to be heard from others. I want to know it form you, it makes me happy knowing you trust me." Arthit sighed.
"I'll speak more from now on P. I'm sorry."
"Shut up and take rest now." Arthit caressed Kongpob's hair.
"I love you P, and I'm sorry." Kongpob was still feeling guilty that he made Arthit worry about him.
Arthit placed a small kiss on the other's forehead. "Silly, stop saying sorry. Take rest now, I love you too."
Kongpob smiled, feeling happy that he had an understanding lover like Arthit.
