One Year More Into The Promise

"Happy Birthday, Krist!"

"Aw! Thank you all!" Krist hugged his artist friends who wished him.

"Come on! Cheer up, birthday boy! Didn't your dear phi call you?" Tay teased Krist who only rolled his eyes while chuckling.

"Come on P, really?" Krist chuckled.

"I'm just tired from work!" Krist whined. He just finished his work and had come to the company to fill in reports and have a talk with the directors.

"If you say so. So what is your plan?" Gun asked the younger.

"I've to go home, having a small birthday celebration of our own." Krist winked.

"I still can't get used to seeing your face all around the company! Krist is everywhere!" Off raised his hands in the air.

"That's called love, P'Off. My fans love me," Krist stuck his tongue out.

He has already been seeing those posters and pictures around the company pillars and walls way before his birthday. His fans are always so loving and he's so happy to receive all those love. He just feels down that he can't meet them and celebrate his birthday with them like that past years due to the pandemic.

Nevertheless, he's so happy to see the symbol of love and food supports his fans had organised for him on his birthday. It really means a lot to him.

"You're 25 and still act like a baby!" New chuckled.

"What can I say? Age is just a number P!" Krist chuckled when he saw them roll their eyes.

Krist slung his bag on his shoulder before waving at his friends. He received many calls in the morning from his friends and family members wishing him a happy birthday. The wishing started from midnight and he's so happy to see all the wishes his fans gave him through social media. It warms his heart.

The only wish he hadn't received yet is from that particular person who means the world to him. He knows the latter might be busy with work but a lover can wish, can't he?

He knows how his lover is. His Singtuan always has a special way of showing his love for the younger.

Krist knows the drill. If he didn't receive the wishes from the elder at 12am on his special day then the elder would only wish him before midnight.

As Singto says, he wants to be either the first person to wish Krist or the last person.

Krist chuckled to himself. One thing he knows, the elder would never forget about this day. How can they forget this day?

When Krist arrived home it was completely dark. He chuckled to himself thinking that his siblings might have planned it.

He had lunch with his family today and they already wished him and gave their small gifts to him. He can't help but think what his siblings might be planning for now.

"Pa! Mae!" Krist called out, trying to put the lights on.

"Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you."

Krist's eyes widened at the source of the voice. He turned his head to see a figure walking towards him with a birthday cake in the hands. He could see the wide smile of the other, the other's face glowing with the candles' light and he couldn't help but break into a smile.

"Happy birthday, happy birthday. Happy birthday to you...." The other's soft voice sending chills down Krist.

"P'Sing," Krist whispered as the latter came close to him and the lights were turned on.

Singto smiled widely at the younger, "Make a wish, Kit."

Krist closed his eyes and wished to the powers above his deepest wish. He opened his eyes and blew the cake.

"Happy birthday na Kit." Singto's dashing smile flashed on his face and Krist couldn't help but launch himself in the arms of the elder's not minding his parents and siblings who watched them with a proud smile on their face.

Singto hugged Krist with one of his hands while the other had the cake.

Krist closed his eyes as he took in the scent of the elder that always calmed his mood. He missed his lover a lot. Being in his arms again made him feel happy and safe.

"Happy anniversary, Kit." Singto placed a kiss on the younger's hair.

Krist pulled away and stared deep into the elder's eyes. He pecked the elder's lips and pressed their foreheads together.

"Happy anniversary, Singtuan."

Singto smiled at the endearment. He bumped their nose and giggled.

"We can stay like this later, your parents and siblings are watching," Singto whispered and Krist pulled away with a blush creeping on his cheeks.

"I thought I'm only going to receive a video call from you." Krist pouted before he faced his parents and greeted them.

"Well, Singto called me today and told me that he'll come here to surprise you." Krist's mae smiled warmly at them.

Krist glanced at Singto and smiled.

"Yeah, P'Singto have been here since an hour ago. Now you both have your time!" Krist's sister shooed them away making everyone laugh while Krist looked at Singto confused.

"Don't look at me like that, I want to spend some quality time with you on our anniversary day and your birthday too," Singto smirked.

"Go on boys." Krist's Pa teased them.

Singto and Krist chuckled before they bowed their respect to the elders.

"And! Happy anniversary you both! Always stay blessed and happy." Krist's mae wished them making them smile.

"Thank you na Mae." Krist smiled at her.

"Thank you, Mae," Singto bowed his head.

"Wow! P'Sing, this is so beautiful." Krist looked around in pure wonder, his eyes filled with happiness.

They were in Singto's place. Singto took him to the balcony and Krist can't help but stare at the settings the elder had organized.

"Well, P'Jane helped me." Singto rubbed his nose as he stared at his boyfriend who was looking around the place in pure bliss.

"This is really beautiful, thank you Singtuan." Krist leaned his head on the elder's shoulder.

There was a small table near the balcony rail and a candlelight dinner waiting for them. The place was decorated with LED lights and there were red rose petals around the table.

"I'm happy that you like it." Singto caressed the other's arm before he led the other to the table.

After they took their seats, they stared at the night city. Even with everything going on in the country they've found their own reason to celebrate this occasion.

"Kit, I know we usually doesn't share gifts with each other." Singto words made Krist look at him.

Krist raised an eyebrow at the elder.

"But, this time I want to give you something." Singto smiled before he took out a box from his pocket.

Krist stared at the latter confused. They've not been giving each other gifts during special occasions. They've always given each other their own personal time to celebrate these occasions. They spend time with each other in the privacy of their four walls. Being celebrities time for themselves are one of the aspects that's very precious for them.

"When I went to visit Pa, I saw a lady in the market. She gifted me this and told me to give this to my true love." Singto smiled as he remembered the incident, that lady's words brought a special feeling inside him. He handed the small antique box to Krist who smiled widely as he opened it.

A few weeks back when he went to visit his Pa he had taken a toll over the market when he came across a small antique shop. Being the curious person he's he went inside, only a few people were there while he curiously observed the things.

He  had been looking over some stuff there when two chains caught his attention. It looked so beautiful and artistic. There were small words written over them but he couldn't make out what it was. It looked like a couple chain and unconsciously a smile formed on his lips.

That's when an old lady approached him.

"You like them, young man?" The lady smiled at him.

Singto smiled softly as he bowed his head, "It looks beautiful, Khun. Just curious about things like this. It looks really artistic and I could feel love by just staring at it."

The lady smiled as she took the chains on the velvet cloth.

"Actually, this is a gift my husband gave during our first wedding anniversary." She stared at it with longing in her eyes.

"Where is your husband, Khun? He really does have taste in art." Singto smiled.

The lady chuckled, "He passed away ten years ago."

"I'm sorry." Singto watched as the lady shook her head.

"Do you have a lover, nong?" The lady smiled looking sweetly at Singto.

A warm smile spread across Singto's lips, "I do, khun."

"You love your faen a lot I guess." She smiled reading the expression on Singto's face, she could see pure love in the young man's eyes.

"I do, Khun. I love my faen a lot, I'm happy to have that person in my life and I hope it stays forever." Singto looked down at his hands.

The lady turned on her heels and walked towards the table. Singto watched the lady take out a small box from the drawer and walk towards him.

"Take this nong, my husband gave this to me when we're still dating each other. It's a promise ring we shared. I believe that it holds love and care. The art inscribed on it is a symbol of love and care. This was always close to our heart."  She handed it to Singto.

"Give this to your lover if you think that person means a lot to you. I'm sure you both love each other, may you both have happiness in your life and the strength to overcome all the obstacles life put forward."  The lady placed her hand on Singto's head and caressed his hair.

"This is so beautiful, tuan."

Krist's voice brought Singto back to the present.

"Let me see," Singto stretched his hand forward. Krist took a ring inside it and gave it to Singto.

"I didn't open the box, I wanted to see it with you." Singto smiled as he looked at the ring.

Krist couldn't help but smile seeing how happy his lover looked. He wants to see his boyfriend always being happy like this. He wants to always stay by the elder's side and face everything the life put forward to them.

"It really is beautiful," Singto whispered.

"How about we exchange them P!" Krist asked excitedly.

Singto chuckled and nodded his head.

Krist took the ring in his hand excitedly and asked Singto to give his hand.

Singto placed his hand on Krist's and he watched the younger slide the ring to his finger.

"I hope we always stay strong like this. May we able to keep our promise we made." Krist made eye contact with Singto and they shared a knowing smile.

Singto took the other ring and slide it into Krist's finger.

"Let our love last until the end of time. Let our happiness never fade. And let's keep our promise."

The two stared at each other into their eyes. Eyes filled with love and care and untold promises.

The promise they made years back on their first anniversary flashing through their minds.

A promise to stay beside each other and always been there for each other. To never let each other face problems alone and to be a pillar for each other.

And one more year into their promise, they wish to lead it into many more years ahead.
