Joan's Rainbow Cake - 3 (End)

Singto pursed his lips as he slowly layered the top of the orange cake he had prepared.

He smiled pleased as he took the crust of the cake and set it aside. Stealing a small piece of it to taste he giggled in excitement of how nice it turned out.

He took the whipping cream he made from scratch and mixed it one last time before he walked to take the two-layered cake he prepared the past two days and placed it on the partition table that separated the dining room and the kitchen.

"Calm down and layer the cake! Don't mess up! Don't mess up!" Singto crossed his fingers as he slowly started to spread the frosting on top of the cake to keep the other layer.

Singto cursed himself when his hands started to shake. He stopped what he was doing and took a deep breath.

Even yesterday when he made the second layer of the cake and started to place it in layer he had to redo the cake because when he took the layer up to place it on top it broke and crumbled down. He doesn't want a repeat of it or does he want to make a mess. It was great that Krist wasn't back home yet or else he would be more nervous.

Taking a deep breath once again he spread the frosting, some of them messing his hand which he licked clean. Giggling happily as he took the orange layer he had made, without any complications he softly placed it on top.

"Yes!" Singto jumped up and down at his little success before he started to frost the whole cake.

With gentle and care, making sure every side was perfect Singto smoothed the thin icing around the cake. He moved from side to side as he covered the cake with icing.

"Babe! I'm home!"

"I'm in the kitchen Kit!" Singto called out hearing the voice of his lover.

"What are you doing the-" Krist's voice got stuck in the middle as he saw his lover standing at the counter and with an extra focused face and tongue sticking out, decorating the cake.

Krist gulped when he saw Singto lick his finger which had frosting in it.

"Babe, what are you doing?" Krist composed himself before he approached Singto, placing the small plastic bag at the side he leaned against the counter.

Singto looked up at him and signalled him to be quite as he wanted to concentrate. Krist chuckled at the other's antics, the latter looked soo cute that he couldn't help but ruffle his hair making the other whine and pout.

"Done!" Singto smiled wide as he looked at the cake. He then took the cake and kept it in the freezer.

Krist watched the other as he walked around the kitchen, a smile engraved on his face.

"Where's the chocolate, Kit?" Singto asked excitedly.

Krist pointed at the cover over the table.

"You give it to me." Singto smiled.

Krist raised his eyebrows at the other, "Why?"

Singto rolled his eyes, "Just give it to me Kit."

Krist walked over to the bag and handed it to Singto. When the other male reached out to take the bag Krist pulled Singto towards him making their chests collided.

"Hey!" Singto's eyes widened when Krist leaned down and licked his chin and then his cheek.

"Wh-What are you doing?" Singto blushed when the other male stared back at him with a smirk in as he licked his lips.

"Just cleaning the whipped cream from your face." Krist winked making Singto push the latter away.

"You could just wipe it with your hand." Singto turned around, taking the chocolate from the bag Krist handed. Trying his best to not show his smile as he focused on the work.

"I just did the same, but using my sweat tongue." Krist back hugged the other male.

Singto's lips broke into a smile. As he felt Krist's head rest on his shoulder.

"You've been busy, what are you making? You're supposed to spend time with me today?" Krist pouted as he moved along with Singto as the other melted the chocolate, his arms still around Singto as he back hugged him.

"We're spending time, aren't we?" Singto chuckled when the other lifted him a little from the ground and shook him.

"You're more focused on the cake than your boyfriend!" Krist kissed  Singto's cheek.

"You're jealous of a cake! Seriously, Kit?" Singto laughed when the other tickled him with kisses on his neck.

"What? It's about my lover! I'll get jealous of everyone who takes my time with my babe!" Krist pouted. Singto turned around in Krist's arms after he turned the stove off.

He bumped their nose together, wrapping his arms around the other's shoulder.

"It's a special cake Krist, I want you to complete the cake with me." Singto leaned forward, touching their foreheads.

Krist smiled, placing a quick peck on his lips he nodded. "Anything for you, love."

Singto giggled. He pulled away and walked towards the fridge, taking out the cake he placed it on the table.

"Take the bowl, babe." Singto pointed towards the chocolate bowl.

Krist happily took the bowl and almost burned his finger but he managed. He gave the bowl to Singto who chuckled at him.

Singto then placed the cake on a higher base and placed a large plate down the base. He took the bowl and looked at Krist who kept staring at him.

"Give me a hand?"

Krist chuckled before he walked around the table confusing Singto. He stood behind Singto and placed his hands on top of his on the bowl.

Singto smiled from ear to ear, feeling the warmth of the other he, along with Krist poured the melted chocolate over the cake.

Feeling the kiss on his shoulder Singto couldn't help but feel happy, moments like this always made him feel how lucky he was and still is to have Krist in his life.

When the coating was done Singto tried to pull away from Krist but the other whined making him move around the kitchen with his clingy lover behind him.

Singto moved the cake onto a cardboard base and then decorated it with a strawberry on top.

"Done!" Singto looked at them happily. It was his effort of three days including today.

"What cake is it, Sing? You've been busy on it the previous days." Krist asked pulling the other closer to him.

"It's called Joan's Rainbow Cake. I wanted to make it for us, for this day. To seal our bond." Singto turned around and smiled at the other.

"You don't know the story behind this?" Singto asked when he saw the confused expression on the other's face.

Krist shook his head making Singto laugh at the cute face.

"You're a restaurant owner! Don't know about this!"

"I'm run a restaurant, not a pastry shop." Krist pouted making Singto pinch his cheeks making both of them laugh.

Singto smiled as he hugged the latter, placing his face on his chest he sniffed the scent of the other.

"The story goes that, at the end of the Second World War, a French soldier's wife started baking a strawberry cake to give her husband when he returned from the War. He didn't turn up that day, nor did he the next day when she had added a pistachio-flavoured layer to the cake. On the third day, she baked a third layer, one in orange flavour, but he didn't come that day either." Singto chuckled when Krist bobbed their noses together.

"On the fourth day when she was about to lose hope, her husband arrived bearing a box of chocolates. The woman is said to have melted the chocolates and made a fourth layer, and served the rainbow of layers to her husband, sealing their bond of love forever."

Krist's heart swelled with love hearing what his lover said. The fact that Singto thought soo far about their relationship, to seal their bond of love forever made him love the other man more than he already did.

"Sing..." Krist cupped the latter's face as he stared at him in the eyes, drowning himself in the dark eyes he smiled placing a soft kiss on his lips.

"Let's cut the cake, Kit." Singto smiled placing a kiss on the other's cheek.

Krist chuckled. Singto took the knife he placed near the cake and handed it to Krist who placed his hand over Singto's.

With wide smiles and pure love strengthening their bond they cut the cake and gave small pieces to eachother.

Krist damped his finger with chocolate on the other's cheek. Singto didn't let go as he damped the others cheek with chocolate.

The two laughed at their own antics, pulling eachother closer in the embrace, placing their foreheads together, they whispered.

"Happy one year anniversary."

Sealing their bond one more step ahead, they moved their lips forward, softly touching eachother as they kissed. With pure love overflowing their souls, with smiles and laughter accompanying their journey along with the challenges they might have to face.
