Kongpob glanced up at his best friend, who was glaring at him.
"Don't look at me like that."
Aim groaned, "Then what should I do!? This is the 10th secretary that you're firing Kongpob! What was wrong with the last one!?"
Kongpob glared back at Aim, "Your choice of secretaries is really poor Aim! The last one didn't even know where to keep the files at! She kept keeping them in false orders that it became a double job for me!"
"Kong, you could just speak to her about it."
"No, I have better issues to look into than teaching her things. And I'm not comfortable around her either."
"You never find anyone that's comfortable." Aim groaned, taking a seat in front of Kongpob. He is surely getting headaches with his best friend's behaviour.
"Exactly! I'm comfortable with myself and I can manage everything without a secretary. I told you to stop looking for a secretary already."
Aim raised his eyebrow, starting a staring contest with Kongpob who didn't back down either.
"The world won't end if you ask for help, Kong. Stop being stubborn."
Kongpob rolled his eyes, "You're the one who's being stubborn now. Why are you soo adamant about hiring a secretary for me? Just leave it Aim. If Pa is the one forcing you I can talk to him."
"No one is forcing me, Kongpob. You didn't even want me to become your secretary. And I don't want my friend to be a workaholic. You were a nerd back at school too. At least, enjoy your life now, Kong. The business world isn't the only place you can explore."
Kongpob sighed, turning away, he broke his gaze with Aim. He knows Aim has a point there but he isn't comfortable with it. He's perfectly fine with his life now. He's comfortable in his own space, he doesn't want anyone to disturb him in it.
Aim sighed, he know Kongpob is stubborn. Really stubborn. He feels pity for all the employees who have to see the grumpy face of his friend every single day. Even though Kongpob is still a COO of Siam Polymer the latter is getting trained to be the next CEO. And the works that fall upon his shoulders isn't a joke. Even Kerkkrai, Kongpob's father had put forward his concern for his son to Aim.
Kongpob is young, being graduated just three years ago, the young man had walked through a lot and everyone was proud of him. But in the process, Kerkkrai and his wife, Rin, is missing their son. Their son was reserved since school days but he had this double personality of an enthusiastic kid when he's inside the comfort of his home and now, Kongpob is more reserved than ever. Forming a shield around himself. Telling it was necessary to live in this world.
"I'm leaving now. I have a date with May. See you later, Kong."
Kongpob just nodded his head, forcing a smile on his face when Aim gave a soft smile to him. He watched his best friend walk out of his cabin. Sighing he massaged his forehead. Tension took over his features. He turned around, facing the large glass wall behind him, staring out at the city, the evening sky gracing beautifully around the large expanse of the city, the hue of orange and purple falling on the busy city. He loved sunsets and sunrises, it provided him with a sense of calmness and beauty.
He knows he's being stubborn. He just doesn't want to trust anyone else. He can manage everything by himself and he's comfortable with it, then why bother having a secretary. It was useless. He doesn't want any help. Why can't people just understand him?
Kongpob had his next set of headaches when he was sitting for dinner with his family. He was hyper-aware of his father and mother who had been stealing glances at him ever since he sat to have dinner. And it was annoying him.
"Can you guys stop doing that and ask me whatever that's on your mind?" Kongpob lifted his head, settling his utensils at the side as he leaned on the chair. Finished with his dinner.
"You fired your secretary." Kerkkrai rested his arms on the table.
Kongpob took a deep breath, "Yeah I did. She kept on making mistakes, I'm better off myself."
"Kong," Rin reached out to hold her son's hand. "We all make mistakes, dear. Even you made mistakes on your first days. Can't you give her a chance?"
"Mae, I worked with her for more than a month. I can't handle it anymore. I'm faster than her, I told you already that I don't need anyone."
"You had been saying all these excuses for the past 9 secretaries you had. If not this another set of excuses. We're worried for you, we don't want our son to get tired of all this works. Even I have a secretary, Kong."
"Your secretary is mom. There's nothing for you to worry about on that." Kongpob glanced at his parents. He knows they're worried, but why can't they understand?
"Kong, dear-"
"Mom, Pa, please. Let it go. I'm perfectly fine with how my life is going, you don't have to worry." Kongpob gave an assuring smile. Excusing himself he took his empty plate and utensils, walking towards the kitchen.
Kerkkrai and Rin waited for Kongpob to go back to his room upstairs before they let out stressed sighs.
"I'm worried for him. If he wasn't staying with us here, I'm sure he would have starved for days due to work." Rin bit her lip.
Kerkkrai cleared his throat. The look on his face made Rin raise an eyebrow.
"Kerkkrai," the warning in her voice brought a sheepish smile on her husband's lips.
"What are you doing? If you hurt him I'm not-"
"Relax, my lady." Kerkkrai pulled his wife towards him, smiling widely at his pouting wife.
"I've been stressing about this a lot. I even talked to Aran about it, it's his idea. I trust him with it. Let's see how it goes."
"I don't think Kong will be happy with this, honey."
Kerkkrai leaned forward, pecking on his wife's lips. "Come on, trust your husband. If I fail in this I'm not going to force our son anymore. One last try, ok?"
Rin sighed, nodding her head. Chuckling when Kerkkrai leaned in to kiss her again.
"Excuse me, may I come in?"
Kongpob raised his head from the file he was studying. Confused as to who was outside his cabin. As far as he knew there weren't any visitors for him today. The voice was unfamiliar too.
"Yes, please come in."
Kongpob's breath hitched when he saw the man that walked through the door. Clad in a crisp beige shirt and brown pants. Hair jelled to the side. Confidence shining in those dark hazel eyes. The dashing dimpled smile that displayed on his face made Kongpob unconsciously smile back too.
"Good morning, sir."
Kongpob gulped, the voice of the other male felt like a soothing wash over him.
"Good morning, please have a seat." Kongpob cleared his throat, watching the other take a seat after thanking him.
"May I help you?" Kongpob leaned over his table, resting his arms over it.
"Oh? You don't know me?"
Kongpob's eyebrows furrowed at the question from the pale man in front of him. "Do I have to know you?"
Somehow the smile that graced the other male's lips at the moment irritated Kongpob. Confusion washed over him.
"I'm your new secretary. Arthit Rojnapath. It's a pleasure to work with you, sir. Thank you for this opportunity."
Kongpob's eyes widened at the words that spilt out of the other man.
"What!? But I didn't hire any secretary!" Anger suddenly rose in the COO's mind.
"Who are you?! Are you lying to me!?"
Arthit shook his head immediately, "Sir! Of course not!"
Kongpob stared blankly at the latter. Analysing the situation at hand. The impression he first had on the man completely vanishing.
"Did-did Pa send you?"
Arthit gave a soft smile, nodding his head. "Yes sir, senior Suttilak hired me. But I thought you knew."
Kongpob sighed, looking down at his palms on the table. Of course, he wouldn't know. Everyone knew that he doesn't want a secretary. His Pa knew that if he came to know about him hiring a new secretary he would oppose first hand.
Taking a deep breath he stared at Arthit, the fact that the man was unfazed with his attitude bothered him somehow. Others would have stuttered or visibly shiver when they sit in front of him.
"Where's your resume?"
Without much waste of time, Arthit handed him the file he had in his hand. Comfortably sitting across the CEO who was giving him a cold shoulder since he knew he was his new secretary. Well, he expected it of course. He was warned about it.
Kongpob's eyes lingered on his new secretary's name. He found it familiar yet he couldn't pinpoint where he had heard the name. Rojnapath did ring a bell in his head but he don't think that the man in front of him would apply for this secretary position if he's the one Kongpob thought he would be.
"You're highly educated I see," Kongpob mumbled, talking to himself but when Arthit replied with a thanks he knew the latter heard him. Making him blush.
Kongpob took a last once over on the resume. He realised Arthit was the same age as him. Arthit was just five months older than him. His new secretary had more educational qualifications than him, just being returned from abroad after his masters. He thought why Arthit was here in Thailand, joining as his secretary when the latter would have got a much higher job with a higher salary in a foreign country with how successful he was in academics.
"Why did you join here? You could have stayed at States and work there." Kongpob handed the resume back.
He was expecting to find at least one flaw in it so that he could reject Arthit from being his secretary but no, he found none and it irritated him, annoyed him.
"Family, sir. My family is here, and some other reasons too." Arthit smiled, his dimples in display that caught Kongpob's attention. Kongpob stated to himself that the latter's smile made him feel at ease, the friendly yet professional posture Arthit let out was making Kongpob comfortable somehow.
"I don't have a choice, do I?" Kongpob sighed, he bit his lips when Arthit let out a chuckle.
"I don't think so, Khun Kongpob."
Kongpob shivered, hearing his name from the honey-coated voice of the latter. He leaned over, his eyes on the file he was previously checking on before his so-called secretary walked into his cabin.
"There are several files that I have to check on from the HR and Finance Department. I want you to check on them, if they haven't finished tell them they have to report to me within an hour. Your first task, you may start."
"Sure sir."
Kongpob's jaw dropped on the floor as he raised his head to stare at the figure of his secretary, who very confidently, walked towards the table at the far corner of the large cabin room, the spot where the secretaries sit. Placing his bag and things on it, Kongpob watched Arthit efficiently walk out of the cabin.
"Damn shit," Kongpob let out a troubled sigh. It looked as if Arthit had owned the whole place within mere seconds. It looked as if he had been working there for months with how smooth he was.
Usually when Kongpob gave the first tasks to his previous secretaries most of them would either give him a troubled look or ask him again what he wanted them to do. But here, Arthit was soo confident, giving a dashing dimpled smile. Kongpob felt confronted.
Kongpob tried every single way to get a reaction from Arthit other than those positive responses to all the burdensome work he asks the latter to do for the next few days.
When COO had enough of those it irritated him to the core that he couldn't help but ask his secretary why he wasn't tried with all the work he does for him.
"Khun Kerkkrai appointed me to help you out Khun Kongpob. I'm your secretary, I'm bound to do all of these. And besides, it will always be my utmost pleasure to follow the orders of my gorgeous boss."
The wink that was followed by the statement made Kongpob blush mauve all over his face. He had snapped at his secretary the very next second, ordering him to bring his coffee while the one on his table was still half full. The only thing Kongpob needed at the moment was to be alone. Scream into his palms at the butterflies he was feeling.
The subtle flirting had been present from time to time that Kongpob cursed his secretary in his head every time it happened. The teasing moved to subtle touches here and there when files are exchanged and coffee drinks are passed on. Or when Arthit leans in a little too close to Kongpob while giving a brief on the documents, their shoulders brushing softly.
Kongpob can't deny that Arthit had this unique charm in him. He who doesn't usually go out of his cabin started to take walks outside from time to time ever since he came to overhear some of his employees squealing about how much of a perfect 'boyfriend material' Arthit Rojnapath was.
He isn't a boyfriend material! It's just a fucking flirt! Kongpob had grumbled.
Something in him didn't settle well at that time. He wanted to make sure no one gets too close to Arthit. He knows his secretary mostly spend time outside the cabin, being the extrovert the latter was, so he made it to himself to check on the scenario going on outside his cabin.
And when he comes in view with 'few' of the employees getting overly touchy with his secretary who laughs at all the foolish things the others say Kongpob finds himself getting grumpier that day.
Eventually, he stopped taking the occasional walks. He doesn't want to see Arthit and his employees being all fluff-fluff. Why does he even bother about it!?
"Can you at least stop staring at me as if I had grown a horn or something? Go and give the files to the CEO!" Kongpob rolled his eyes as he pointed at his secretary.
"Aw, Khun Kongpob! I didn't look at you like that! You should go on dates once in a while so you can know what these stares mean." The secretary placed his hands on the COO's table.
Kongpob glared at him, feeling humiliated by those words, "How dare you!? Are you telling me I don't have a love life!?"
"When was the last time you went on a date?"
Kongpob gasped, biting his lips as he blushed darker, feeling the heat creeping up his neck and cheek.
"I thought so," Arthit smirked.
"Get out!"
Arthit couldn't hold it in anymore as he laughed out loud. He didn't bother about the fact that he was laughing at his so-called boss.
"Stop laughing!" Kongpob stood up absurdly, feeling embarrassed. The fact that Arthit was laughing at him didn't help either.
"You're adorable, do you know that?"
Arthit muffled his laughter, taking a few steps back as he watched Kongpob's eyes go wide as he glared at him. Shoulders heaving. Face flushed red. Those doe eyes looked soo cute glaring at him.
"Khun Arthit!"
And there came a flying pen. Followed by a folder, another pen, then a plastic centrepiece which hit the wall letting out a loud thud. All the while the secretary dodged the items that flew his way.
"Geez! Khun Kongpob! Relax!" Arthit raised his hands seeing that the other was ready to throw the flower vase that was on the table.
Kongpob's hands halted midway. His breathing was uneven as he furrowed his eyebrows at Arthit.
"You're adorable and all when you're angry but I love my life a lot. I don't want to die anytime soon."
Just as Kongpob took the flower vase in his hand Arthit took the files from his table and ran towards the door.
Arthit paused on his steps when he stood face to face with his colleges who were trying to eavesdrop. He closed the door behind him when Kongpob shouted his name.
"What are you guys doing?" Arthit chuckled, carrying the files in his hand nonchalantly as he made his way towards the CEO's cabin.
"We're sorry N'Arthit! But we couldn't help it! We thought Khun Kongpob was setting you on fire out there! Are you ok?"
They were soo concerned when they heard the sound of things being thrown from inside the COO's cabin. And the muffled shout of their COO. They were concerned for the poor secretary.
"I'm perfectly fine, P'Martha. You don't have to worry."
Arthit gave an assuring smile at the middle-aged woman who was staring at him in concern, four other employees behind her.
You don't have to know what really happened out there.
"This is not a new occurrence for us but seeing a handsome man as you get scolded by the Ice Prince is painful to watch." Cherry pouted at him, the employee's face filled with sympathy for the new secretary.
"Ice Prince?" Arthit turned around, facing the set of workers.
"Yeah! With all the experiences we have towards Khun Kongpob, we call him the 'Ice Prince'! He's such a handsome specimen! He's all drool-worthy but his tsundere self is something else!" Cherry was practically in his full mood as he talked about the company's COO.
"A tsundere that he's," Arthit mumbled to himself, smirking.
"All the secretaries he had in the past would either resign within a month or get fired by him! I would be heartbroken to see you fired, N'Arthit! We don't want to lose you! You're such a gentleman!" Martha wiped her fake tears making others giggle.
Arthit laughed, shaking his head.
"None of you has to be worried, I'm not going to leave anytime soon. Maybe I can bring some changes to the Ice Prince's life," he wiggled his eyebrows making others gasp.
"Oh, N'Arthit! Please! We don't want our boss to erupt like a volcano! If you want to work in peace don't get on his nerves!" Cherry stated in horror.
Arthit shook his head, hiding his smile. He turned on his heels, walking away leaving the others to stare at him worriedly.
He halted in his tracks, a smirk evident on his lips as he turned his head to face the bewildered employees.
"Let's see." He winked at them before walking into the CEO's cabin.
Chucking when he heard Cherry squeal.
"May I come in sir?" Arthit peeked through the door, getting the approval from the senior Suttilak he stepped into the cabin.
"Arthit!" Kerkkrai smiled wide, standing up from his chair he walked to the other side of his table, towards his son's secretary.
"Here are all the files that contain last week's reports." Arthit cheekily replied to the CEO, pointing at the files in his other hand.
"Aw Come on!" Kerkkrai rolled his eyes before pulling Arthit into a tight hug.
The younger man placed the file on the CEO's table before hugging the elder back.
"How is everything going? Kong is being hard on you, isn't he?" The elder inquired, pulling away as he stared at Arthit in concern.
Kerkkrai had been out of the city for a business meeting for a week along with Rin, he was concerned for the young lad. He knows he's the one responsible for Arthit being Kongpob's secretary but he had no other choice, especially when Arthit volunteered himself.
"You're being worried unnecessarily, Khun Kerkkrai. Don't be." Arthit gave his signature dimpled smile, pocketing his hands.
Kerkkrai shook his head, chuckling. He asked Arthit to sit which the other declined as he chose to lean on the table.
"I doubt that, young man. I know my son, he'll do anything to fire you. My son thinks asking for help from others is some kind of sin."
Arthit chuckled, "I understand. I have gone through that. You don't have to worry Khun Kerkkrai, even if he tried to fire me I won't give him a chance to. This is a mission I asked for myself."
"Kong is going to go hysterical when he finds out who you're."
"That's the reason I told you not to! Trust your son with me, Khun Kerkkrai. We'll break down his Ice Prince facade." The younger winked making Kerkkrai laugh out loud.
"You know about the names, huh?"
"Of course. The employees aren't very silent about it." Arthit shrugged his shoulders.
"I don't blame them." Kerkkrai chuckled. He himself had heard those names on various occasions, he knows Kongpob knows too. It's funny looking at it from one side.
"I'll get going then, Khun Kerkkrai. I don't want to get another set of reprimands from your wonderful son."
Kerkkrai could only laugh as he nodded his head, his eyes on the man as the latter walked away. He's having a very positive look at this situation. Maybe in the end there would be phases of his sulking son to be seen but he's sure all of it will be worth it! Especially with Arthit around Kongpob.
The young lad was the complete opposite of his son. Arthit is a social butterfly, always having that charming smile on his face, the confidence he radiates is a positive vibe for everyone around him. Despite the latter having only been working there for a few weeks, Kerkkrai on the times he had observed, can clearly state the changes in his son.
Arthit had a unique way to deal with Kongpob's moods. Even when the latter was scolded for measly issues by Kongpob Arthit always had this positive outlook that made his son speechless at times.
He had caught Kongpob being flustered a few times.
Kerkkrai chuckled to himself, walking over to his chair he took the files Arthit had placed on his table.
"Good luck, son. You've got a really unique secretary for now. I hope you would be able to escape from that young man." Kerkkrai couldn't help but smile.
Maybe this time his son is going to gain an additional presence in his life, someone who's more than just a secretary. And he don't mind at all.
****
"Khun Kongpob, it's already past lunchtime. You should-"
"Can you stop nagging, Khun Arthit!? I told you that I'm not hungry!" Just as those words slipped out of the COO's lips, his stomach growled loudly, making him immediately wound his arms around his waist.
His whole face flushed red as he heard a snicker escape from Arthit. He didn't dare to look up at the cocky smile on his secretary's face.
"Why are you laughing!? Shut up!" Kongpob straightened, aggressively turning the pages of the file in front of him.
"I didn't do anything, Khun Kongpob," Arthit replied nonchalantly, his eyes trailing on Kongpob's lips that have formed into an adorable pout. Marred with his grumpiness.
"I'll order pizza for you if you want," Arthit smirked internally, observing the way Kongpob's eyes widened his delight.
Kongpob cleared his throat, his mouth watering at the mere thought of a full plate of pizza, "Do whatever you want! And leave me alone!"
Arthit rolled his eyes, walking over to the COO he snatched the file from the other's hand.
"Khun Arthit!"
Arthit played deaf on the young man's outburst, he leaned on, turning Kongpob's desk chair to face him. Leaning in with two hands on either side of the hands of the chair. Making Kongpob gasp and immediately push himself away as his back pressed the leather chair.
"I-Idiot! What are you doing!?" Kongpob glared at his secretary but the smirk on the latter's lips made him gulp. The dark hazel eyes stared at him as if he was going to get consumed.
"You should take care of yourself, Khun Kongpob. If the boss is not healthy, you won't be a good example for the employees." Arthit raised his hand, softly caressing Kongpob's hair.
The COO let out a content sigh, feeling the soft touches of his secretary. He could find himself relaxing, feeling warm and safe. He didn't know he needed this.
"So, go out for lunch?"
Kongpob raised his head, meeting the dimpled smile of the other male. God, what is this feeling!?
"You said you'll buy pizza for me." He unconsciously pouted.
Arthit laughed, caressing the tip of Kongpob's nose with his finger. "There's is a nice pizza place near our office. We can go there. It's good to have some changes in your everyday habit, Mr Suttilak."
"There is a pizza shop nearby? But I didn't know!" Kongpob unconsciously whined.
The secretary couldn't help but be amused at his boss. "Try to go out at times Khun Kongpob. Maybe you'll notice then."
The other male rolled his eyes.
"B-but I never go out to have lunch." Kongpob sighed. He wasn't fond of going out, he's already having more than enough human interaction at the office, he don't want any more of it. He prefers to stay indoors.
"Come on! I'll accompany you. Your business won't lose millions if you go out for lunch and come back, Khun Kongpob." The pale man's face was filled with soo much enthusiasm and delight that Kongpob didn't have the heart to say no once again. So he just nodded.
Kongpob let out a puff of air when Arthit pulled away, standing straight. He can't believe that they almost had their faces on eachother just a few minutes ago.
His eyebrows furrowed when Arthit held out a hand for him. He slapped the warm, big hand and stood up.
"I can stand on my own, Khun Arthit." Kongpob glared at him and the only response he got was the melodious laughter of the other.
"As you say, my king."
"Khun Arthit!" Kongpob could feel his whole face heat up as Arthit smirked back at him. He was getting confused now, who's really the boss in here?
"It would be my utmost pleasure if you quit that 'khun' when you call me. Arthit is perfectly fine." The secretary took a step forward making Kongpob step back. His lips quivered with the intense gaze of his secretary but he managed to pull his stoic face and glare.
"Shut up! Say one more word you'll get out from here!"
"Feisty." The corner of Arthit's lip lifted. His jawline sharp, eyes sparkling. The black shirt that he wore hugged his figure in too much perfection for Kongpob's liking.
Kongpob's eyes trailed all over it. Finding himself go weak in front of the mesmerizing man that he didn't realise how the space between them had reduced. His breath hitched when Arthit's hand slipped around his waist, grasping the situation Kongpob gulped. Not being able to make a move.
"Kongpob are you busy?"
The two immediately pulled away, more like Kongpob pushing his secretary who staggered backwards and almost landed on the floor.
"Aw, what happened?" Kerkkrai raised his eyebrows, eyeing the two males.
His son was breathing heavily, face flushed red, lips parting in a slight gasp. Arthit on the other hand looked as if he had the best time in his life, even though the latter looked a little...shocked? Yet a smirk on his face.
"N-Nothing, Pa. You need anything?" Kongpob cleared his throat, walking towards his father.
"I was just checking on you whether you had lunch or not. You haven't moved out of your office this whole day." Kerkkrai smiled at his son.
"Don't worry Mr Suttilak. Khun Kongpob and I are going out to have lunch." Arthit stepped forward, standing behind his boss, the smirk never leaving his face.
"What!?" Kerkkrai's eyes widened as he stared at his son.
"What?" Kongpob raised his eyebrow.
"Y-You're really going out for lunch?" Kerkkrai couldn't help the smile that stretched across his lips, he glanced at Arthit who nodded at him.
Oh, he should really thank the man for coming up with the new changes in his son's life.
"Yeah, so what?" Kongpob shrugged his shoulders, adjusting his blazer. He very well knows the reason why his father is being the way he's. But he's not ready to acknowledge anything.
"Nothing. Have a great lunch, son." Kerkkrai patted his son's shoulder. Immediately making his way out of the cabin so that he could call his wife and announce the amazing news to her!
"Let's go? Khun Kongpob?" Arthit stepped forward, a smirk on his lips as he pocketed his hand.
Kongpob rolled his eyes, a deep blush making its way on his cheeks at how attractive Arthit looked with his hands in his pocket, head held up high, dark hazel eyes staring at him in an intensity that made his insides do summersaults.
"Whatever."
Arthit shook his head, chuckling at his boss as he followed him outside. Obviously catching the other blushing that made him extremely proud of himself.
As they made their way through the company hallway Arthit smirked internally as they saw the employees gasping at the two. Staring at them with wide eyes, seeing their COO, Kongpob Suttilak outside during the lunch hours was a miracle, if not for any meetings scheduled for the day.
"Khun Kongpob, what type of pizza do you like?" Arthit eyed the employees who tried to move closer so as to listen to their conversation.
Kongpob's whole face brightened, "I love all kinds of pizzas! But Neapolitan Pizzas are the best! Have you tried those?"
Arthit shook his head innocently as if he wasn't aware of the gasps and shocked faces of the employees.
"No, I haven't. Maybe I can try it when we go now to the pizza place."
Kongpob nodded his head, a small enthusiastic smile on his face as he waited for the elevator door to open.
"Of course! You should definitely try them!"
Arthit, with a wide smile his face followed the other male into the elevator, feeling soo proud that he could bring out the emotions that his so-called boss bottled up for all these while.
He was here on a mission. And he knew, he was going to get his reward soon, for completing the said mission with flying colours. Soon.
So far, this is the best improvement they have made since Arthit joined as the tsundere boss's, aka, the ice prince's secretary.
The walk to the pizza place was filled with silence. With Kongpob following his secretary as the latter guided him. It was just a ten-minute walk from the office building.
The pizza place was beautiful, a style that Kongpob loved. The slow music playing inside the restaurant and the fairy lights around the dimly lit wide expanse of the place gave it a soothing ambience. Kongpob felt relaxed, after a long time.
And it wasn't only the fact that he walked into a wonderful restaurant that made him feel so, it was the presence of the man who stood ahead of him, talking to the waiter, asking whether they could find a place to sit which was less crowdy, and had more privacy.
Kongpob eyes lingered on the male in front of him, back facing him. Assessing him from head to toe. Kongpob knows there's definitely changes happening around within him and his secretary. Despite him being on his toes all the time and snapping at everything and anything at Arthit, that feeling of butterflies dancing in the pit of his stomach and the feeling of warmth seeping into his skin at each and every glance that the other male had initiated towards him was making him feel things.
Arthit's burning gaze on him and the subtle touches here and there, all of them set him on fire. Making him gasp and feel as if he was up on the clouds. The smirk Arthit always direct towards him when others aren't looking at them or when they're in the privacy of the COO's cabin made Kongpob feel things tenfold greater than what he would feel in the mere presence of his secretary.
"Found the perfect spot, follow me?" Arthit smiled wide, his beautiful dimples in display as his eyes sparkled at the shy nod from his boss.
They made their way to the far corner of the restaurant, making themselves seated opposite to eachother at the sofa-like chairs. Large windows beside them, that gave them the view of the water fountain that was situated on the restaurant's premises, cold breeze entering through the opened gap of the window as it caressed their skin.
"This is beautiful." Kongpob found himself smiling, gazing out of the window. Eyes fixed on the fountain, finding peace in the movements of the water. His chin on his palm.
"Yeah, really beautiful." Arthit folded his arms on the table, his gaze on the perfectly handsome man in front of him.
His boss had removed the brown blazer he had worn, placing it over the space beside him. Three of the top buttons were undone, rolling the sleeves of the white shirt to his elbow. Arthit couldn't take his eyes off the man.
Kongpob turned his face towards his secretary, his breath hitched, realising that the other was staring at him. It wasn't the usual smirking face or overly blooming smile that decorated the other's face. Instead, Arthit's lips formed a soft, small smile, that only brought one of his dimples to be displayed. The calm and serene look on his face as he gazed right into him was making him feel tingles all over his skin. And not to mention the butterflies.
He never knew someone could look at him with soo much adoration and warmth. It felt soo foreign for him.
"S-Stop staring at me!" Kongpob fake glared, his cheeks heating up.
Arthit shook his head, chucking. "Come on, we're here to spend some quality time. We're out of work. So we're not boss and secretary for now. Can you stop being a tsundere now?"
"Who's a tsundere!? How dare you!?" Kongpob pointed his finger at the latter, his nostrils flared in anger and embarrassment.
He very well knew about all those names his employees have for him but he didn't give much deed to it. But hearing it from Arthit made him feel irritated? Shy? Embarrassed? He doesn't know.
"Aw Kong! I'm sorry I made you angry."
Kongpob gasped, his eyes widened as Arthit's caught his finger, smiling wide at him as he called him by his short name. The look on Arthit face portraying the exact opposite of his apology.
Shit, his name sounded soo beautiful coming from the latter!
"Y-You! H-How dare you call me that!? I'm your boss!" Kongpob clenched his jaw, roughly pulling his hand back from Arthit's hold. Glaring at him he wrapped his arms around his tummy, feeling as if something was crawling up inside him.
"As I told you, we're outside work. I already told you to call me Arthit. I want to be a good friend to you too, Kong. Can't we do that? What's the issue in there?" Arthit tilted his head, pouting. His doe eyes staring softly at Kongpob.
"Whatever," Kongpob puffed his cheeks, trying to look irritated but noticing how the latter's face brightened up from the corner of his eyes he couldn't help but bite his lips to stop himself from smiling.
A few minutes in they ordered their pizzas, Kongpob subconsciously pushing Arthit to try his favourite pizza just as how they talked about it earlier. And of course, Arthit agreed with a wide smile, letting his boss to order food for them.
He hadn't seen the man soo cheerful at all. It warms his heart at the same time knowing small things like these made the latter happy. And he's glad that he's the one who could witness all these.
"You should try the traditional Italian pizzas! Those are the best! Last year I went to Italy for a business meeting and I had to try the pizzas there! It's the birthplace of this wonderful dish after all! The pizzas there are soo different from what we get here! Oh, they were soo amazing!"
Kongpob kept rambling about all the different types of pizzas he had tasted, stating that he would trade anything to get one slice of this delicacy!
Arthit all the while listened to his boss's rambling, which was soo adorable to him. It wasn't the COO Kongpob Suttilak in front of him, but an ordinary man who was expressing his happiness towards his favourite dish.
They say 'A way to man's heart is through his stomach' and now Arthit's believes it to an extent.
When their pizzas arrived on the table, Kongpob stared at Arthit, expectantly looking at him as he urged the other to try his favourite pizza. Arthit could only smile, seeing how much of a child Kongpob was being in front of him, an adorable baby. He wanted to tease Kongpob, to see those flustered cheeks, but those eyes staring at him with soo much expectation made him take a slice of his pizza and bite into it.
A moan escaped his lips as the bust of different flavours melted into his mouth, the melted cheese swirled around his tongue.
"See! I told you that you'll love it!" Kongpob giggled, satisfied with the other's reaction he dug into his own pizza.
And Arthit had a hard time listening to his moaning boss right in front of him as he took bite after bite from the pizza. Arthit's eyes lingered on those rosy lips.
Arthit! Control!
"I tried Calabria pizza once, it was soo damn tasty but it wasn't for me! It was soo spicy! I can only handle mild spiciness! I didn't know the pizza was soo spicy or else I wouldn't have bought it!" Kongpob sighed, pouting at the miserable memory as he munched on his pizza. He wasn't able to enjoy that lovely pizza because of his pathetic spice tolerance.
"Oh, Arthit! You could try them! After all, you love spicy food." Kongpob unconsciously stated.
Arthit who stayed silent all the while, just listening to Kongpob's rambling with the ever so loving look on his face as he observed each expression that made its way on the honey skinned, gorgeous face, perched up at what the latter said.
He raised his eyebrows, "How do you know that I love spicy food?"
"Oh! It isn't soo hard to find it out! You basically eat the spiciest meals every day! I wouldn't even be able to take a bite of that foo-"
Kongpob's eyes widened, the slice of pizza in his hand stopped midway as he realised what he was saying. Now he didn't want his secretary to know that he observes what the other eats or drinks daily. He doesn't want to be seen as a stalker!
"So, I guess you observe me a lot," Arthit leaned forward, smirking as he took a bite of his slice. Licking his lips, the COO's eyes clearly on the lips of his secretary that lingered on the pizza slice longer than it was supposed to.
Kongpob cleared his throat, diverting his gaze. Taking a large bite from his slice.
"I-It's not my fault that you always accompany me while having lunch. I'm not blind, I can see what you eat."
"Fair point."
Kongpob let out a sigh of relief. Glancing at the other from the corner of his eyes, he smiled. Even though he wanted to run back to the company and hide himself from the specimen in front of him, he enjoyed this moment.
But that didn't last long. Just as Kongpob thought the day can't be any more wonderful a shrill voice of a woman who called out for Arthit somehow irritated Kongpob.
"Namtan! Oh my! What a pleasant surprise?!" Arthit stood up in a flash, hugging the lady who looked soo excited to meet the man.
Kongpob frowned, his eyes fixed on the woman's hand that wounded around his secretary's neck.
"It has been soo long! How are you?!" Namtan pulled away, her gaze fell on Kongpob who stared at her coldly. She immediately gave him a wai, she recognised the COO of Siam Polymer.
"You're here with your friend, I see."
"Yeah, we have been friends for a few months." Arthit eyed the other male.
"Oh well! Nice to meet you Mr Suttilak. I'm Namtan, Arthit's childhood friend." She offered a warm smile which wasn't returned but she wasn't faced with it.
"Nice to meet you, Khun Namtan." Kongpob nodded his head, returning his focus on the pizza. A question bugging his mind. Why didn't Arthit tell that he was his secretary?
Kongpob's temper was getting to its peak as he listened to Arthit and Namtan speaking as if they were high school sweethearts. Giggling and teasing eachother. It lasted for at least 10 minutes before Namtan excused, informing that she had to meet her friend who was at the restaurant.
"We'll catch up some other day then. Tell Jay that I asked for him. We'll meet soon, ok?" Arthit flashed his dimpled smile, much to someone's displeasure.
"Sure Arthit! See you! Convey my regards to aunty and uncle too."
"I will."
Arthit sat back in his place, happily continuing to have the second last slice of his pizza. Unaware of the strong glare from the person opposite to him.
"So, she is your friend?" Kongpob tried to start a conversation, his nerves were not letting him stay quiet.
"Yeah! Childhood friends actually! I, Namtan and Jay are best friends. Funny thing is that, I had a crush on her back then," Arthit shrugged his shoulders, chuckling.
Kongpob's eyes widened, before he knew he exclaimed out loud, "What!?"
Arthit raised his eyebrows, his focus turned to his boss. "What happened?"
The latter cleared his throat, shaking his head. Mentally punching himself for not having control over his senses.
"Ah well, all of that was in the past. She's actually in a relationship with Jay now. They're such a cute couple."
Even though knowing Namtan is in another relationship brought a sense of relaxation to him, the fact that Arthit had a crush on her was still bugging his mind.
Kongpob found himself pouting at the thoughts that clouded his mind. Why is he feeling like this?! Was he...jealous?
The COO shook his head in horror.
No more conversations took place between them as they hurriedly finished lunch and returned to work.
Kongpob was still pissed and Arthit had a little idea on why the latter behaved so. The secretary could only giggle in secret as Kongpob ordered him to do things with his aggressive shouting accompanying in-between.
Then it happened that the very next day Arthit applied for three days leave. Which Kongpob had no choice but to grand him with it since the latter hasn't taken any holiday since he started working for him.
"What's the emergency?" Kongpob had asked to which he only received a nonchalant shrug followed by a boring reply.
"Nothing much. I need some rest, going to meet my family and friends."
And Kongpob wanted to ask if that lady, Namtan, was included under the title of 'friends'.
No one. No one at the company knew why their Ice Prince of a boss returned being a tenfold greater version of his usual Tsundere self - which had toned down after the arrival of the new secretary much to their surprise- for the next three days. Making everyone walk on shells around their boss.
