To sleep or not to sleep...
Always a good question.
I never go with the latter; especially on lazy afternoons such as today. My help isn't needed at the base even if I was supposed to work today. I could always go and bother my former deputy...but when I did that last time, going in unannounced...
I walked in on his wife and him having some...fun in the living room. I have never ran out of a room so fast in my life.
I am still scarred.
Maybe I can bother Kazuki-nope, he's working. Minako might be at home or she might be at Hanako's place. How many months has it been...
Four months? I think they can determine the gender pretty soon, too. Hopefully it ends up being a Kazuki Jr. rather than a Minako Jr. I've known them for maybe five years now and she still scares me with how emotionless she could get.
Even when she's pregnant it takes a miracle to make her smile! Only her husband can do that.
The three chimes of the grandfather clock right beside my head caused me to jolt up in complete shock! It's already three!
"Shit!" I grabbed my coat hanging at one of the dining chair tables and my keys laying on the kitchen counter. I wrapped a red scarf around my neck as quickly as I could.
This is not good! And it's snowing, too!
Frantically as I stuck hand after hand into the orange jacket, I tried to start the car. The snow started falling more heavily by the time I already backed out of the driveway; shifting it into gear and driving down the road. I'm so lucky none of the snow has collected yet otherwise I'd be spinning out of control.
As the building came into view, I slowed down a bit. I was forced into stopping completely just as a cross guard in an bright orange vest walked into the middle of the street with a red stop sign. The little grade school kids scrambled after their parents. The cutest of these kids, warmed my heart in this terrible weather.
I was finally allowed to drive around the school towards the pre-school section just in time to see three little kids standing against the door; staring out.
I am about to be roasted...
I didn't even park the car in the lot. Instead, I just stopped by the curb pulling it on park and flashing the emergency lights.
The moment I opened the door, the moment three little voice exploded my ear drums.
"Daddy!!!" I barely had time to walk around the car to open the back door just as two boys and one little girl ran out, each wearing their jackets and matching red scarves.
I bent down just in time to scoop up my eldest son in my arms. Shortly after, another body slammed into my side then finally, a smaller one ramming into her brothers' back.
My balance wasn't good to begin with. Now with three lumps attacking me like this, I was forced onto my butt into the freezing cold sidewalk.
That didn't matter.
Hajime. Boruto. Himawari. My three little babies.
Well, Hajime is six; Boruto is five and they're the ones that believe they're all grown up. Himawari is three and she knows she's the little baby of our family.
"Sorry I'm late guys," I ruffled Hajime's orange hair. "It won't happen again, believe it!"
Boruto was the first to respond, "It better not! Or else, we're telling Mommy."
Mommy will murder Daddy if you did, but I didn't tell them.
"That's why," I put my fingers to my lips. "Let's not utter a word to Mommy, okay?"
Hajime sighed, "Okay. Just this one time."
"What are we not telling Mommy?" Himawari suddenly asked, looking from her brothers to me. Her brilliant blue eyes sparkling with complete interest.
"Nothing!" Boruto crossed his arms in an 'x'. "Because Daddy doesn't want to get into big trouble with Mommy."
My daughter turn to me, "But Daddy never did anything bad, right?"
"He picked us up late, Hima," Hajime replied. "And it is cold."
"But that doesn't matter, right?" she then turned to me; my familiar goofy grin spread across her own face. "'Cause in the end, Daddy is here and he will always come!"
The love of a parent for their kids. Something that anybody can experience. Also something that is worth waiting for.
Something I will never give up for or trade for ever.

Hinode General Hospital

"It's a traumatic aortic rupture patient!" the EMT yelled loudly through the entrance of the ER. "A two car head-on crash! Male, 27. Was temporary trapped until the firefighters could get them out!"
My ears twitched briefly as I heard two sets of feet scramble behind me towards the cry for help. A man, and a woman.
"Anything else we need to know about?" it was the male doctor who asked.
"Yes," the frantic EMT continued. "He's been complaining about neck, back, chest and knee pains!"
"Let's transfer him, Kazuki," the female grabbed her husband's sleeve.
"Alright, get a bed read, Mina. You guys! Come with me."
I waited a few more heartbeats until the transfer was complete, "He is still conscious so it can't be too severe," I suddenly spoke up, closing the chart and sliding the pen into my lab coat breast pocket.
The EMTs have backed out of the ER as I made my way over towards the groaning patient. He had cuts all over his face; a neck brace making it uncomfortable for him over all. His supposed to be nice button-up white shirt, stained and ripped from the accident. Little pieces of glass were still present in some of the cuts in his arms as well as his legs.
Taking the stethoscope from around my neck, I placed the two ear tips of the headset end of my equipment in my ear; the tunable diaphragm ready in my other hand.
"Sir," I said over his pain. "I'm going to check your lungs to make sure you're okay. Deep breaths on my mark, please."
He barely grunted in response.
I ripped the only button covering his chest then slid the tunable diaphragm against his chest.
"Breath," one air in; the tunable diaphragm against his right chest.
"Out," normal.
I move to the left, "Breath."
So far so good.
"Out."
Wait, cackling sound.
"One more time for me sir," I asked. He responded with the movement and sure enough; the same sound came through the ear tips.
I put my stethoscope back in its original position then reach for his shirt again. I ripped it opened and just as my suspicions told me, a bruise was present on his chest.
"Senpai?" Minako suddenly called.
Sighing, I stood back up stuffing my hands in my pockets, "I suspect traumatic aortic rupture. Because he was injured by shearing forces at high speed, it could've caused a tear in his aorta. I can't be 100% sure without an x-ray so Kazuki, can you get it done? Hurry. He's lucky to be alive right now."
"Right away," the male doctor flashed me a smile. Giving his wife's arm a small squeeze, he scrambled away.
"Minako," I turned to her. "I need you to contact the cardiovascular department and tell them to prepare an OR."
"On it," she rushed away as well.
I turned back just as two more doctors walked up to me, awaiting my orders. Another couple, might I add. Ready for action the moment I give the mark.
"So what should we do, Hina?" the man spoke with a small smile.
"I don't think I need to tell you, Hisao-senpai," I replied.
He only shrugged, "It'd be nice to have some sort of idea, Chief."
"Alright," I looked at the patient once more. "I need you to examine him carefully for any injuries that could interfere with the surgery and treat it. Hanako-senpai..."
"Hm?" she tied her long hair into a ponytail.
"Let's go prepare for surgery."

Uzumaki Household - 12 AM
I shut the front door as quietly as I could; knowing there was no way my family was still awake. The entire household was dark so it told me that much.
Taking off my shoes and my coat, I headed towards the coat closet first; utterly exhausted from a sixteen-hour day. I could sure use a hot bath and maybe some pizza would be nice...
I wandered into the living room, my hand reaching for the light switched when I stopped completely. My eyes widened at a scene that I rarely came home to.
My entire family sleeping in the living room.
The TV was on, playing a cartoon for the kids that were knocked out cold. All three were resting on the coach, using their father as a pillow. My daughter's head was resting on his side while Boruto's golden head rested on one of his legs. Hajime sleeping on the other with their chests raising and falling soundlessly.
A soft scent of rice and some teriyaki chicken dulled my senses for a bit. I caught sight of two bowls of rice waiting, covered in the clear wrap and a big bowl in the middle.
Gently, I pried each of my kid off their father and made three trips to tuck them in. Hajime was a little harder since he was indeed a lot bigger than his brother and sister. I was barely able to place him down and my back was already cramping up. He paid me no mind as he flipped onto his stomach and continued snoring.
With the kids finally tucked into bed, I managed a quick shower before changing into one of my husband's shirts and my own pair of sweats. Making my way downstairs, I made my way to my said husband still sleeping in the same position he was earlier.
As softly as I could, I sat down beside him; watching his sleeping face for a bit. I noticed his cheekbones were just as firm as they always were; the way his nose barely twitched every time he took a breath.
Every little detail about him shaped him into Naruto Uzumaki.
A man of his word.
A daredevil who would do anything to save the world.
A perfect father to his three children.
And a man that I can never stop loving.
He has come such a long way from his college days. Naruto has grown up into a man that every single faculty member at the hospital adored. The same man who learned how to cook because I couldn't due to my late hours. Since he was the former leader of the Special Forces Task Force, Naruto still received the recognition he earned.
Nowadays, he would take care of our kids and take them to school in the morning then head to work as a training instructor at the military base. He'd finish an hour before their day comes to an end and picks them up.
Naruto was willing to do everything he can. He wanted to start a family with me and he sacrificed his time to make it perfect.
I could never ask for more.
"I love you, Naruto-kun," I reached up, gently stroking his whiskered cheek.
"And I love you," his lips suddenly moved.
He opened one blue eyes, watching me, "How was your day?"
I adjusted my position until I was sitting beside him, my head on his shoulder and his lips against my hair, "Tiring. How was yours?"
"The usual," Naruto smirked.
"So work and picking up the kids late, again?"
"Yeah exactly that," he stopped. "Wait! How'd you know I was late?"
"I didn't," I sighed, looking at him. "But you just told me."
The fear in his eyes were apparent, "I can explain."
"You promised you wouldn't do that again, Naruto-kun!" I raised an eyebrow.
Without warning, Naruto grabbed my head and slammed it against his hard chest, "You must be tired and hungry."
"Naruto-kun!" I grabbed fistfuls of his sweater.
"Let's eat so we can go to sleep," he ignored me though. "It's Saturday tomorrow so we don't have to wake up early."
"Naruto-kun!" I started giggling. "Come on, I-I can't breathe."
He suddenly loosened his grip, enough for me to sit up, "Thank you."
"No prob-"
But I tackled him, pushing him until his back was flat against the leather coach and I loomed over him; my hands on either side of his handsome face. The shock from before returned as he watched me.
"I'm sorry, Hinata," he cracked a nervous smile. "I didn't mean to!"
I raised an eyebrow.
"It won't happen again," my husband continued. "Believe it!"
I scoffed, "You said that last time."
"Please," Naruto stuck out one finger. "One more time, okay?"
"Okay?"
He nodded, "Okay."
Then reaching up, the love of my life wrapped his hands around my body; pulling me until I was squashed against him completely. Naruto kept me there, his arms still around me and I was way too tired to fight.
"Rest now," he kissed my hair.
My eyes grew heavy with every blink I could usher.
"Go to sleep, my love," Naruto murmured. "Welcome home."
