Hinata's Apartment

Hinata

I stumbled through my front door, sore and exhausted from the entire day of packing. I love Mina but the girl needs to start caring about life. How can someone be so damn carefree, seriously?

I dropped my bag on the sofa and sat down, gingerly taking my shoes off one by one.

Tomorrow we leave for a completely different country for three months. I'm not complaining or anything, it's more of I'm a little scared of what Eskon had in store for us.

To top things off we're staying with complete strangers as well.

My phone suddenly vibrated twice in my jacket pocket. Probably Mina wondering where her toothbrush is. Half way through packing, I got a little angry and hid it in the kitchen.

Imagine my shock when it came from a completely out of this world number.

Are you the head doctor in charge of the volunteer team?

Who..?

That is me. Ummm who is this and how did you get my number?

Two minutes passed and I was almost convinced that the person was some creepy dude that somehow got my number by accident or I'm just waiting 'sorry wrong number'.

No wait... whoever this person is knows I'm the leader of the doctor team.

The buzzing catches my attention again.

I apologize if I had startled you. I am the captain of the Special Forces team here in Eskon. I will tell you my name when you and your team arrive tomorrow at noon.

Or you can tell me now so I can Facebook stalk you before having to spend three months with you.

I wasn't too startled don't worry. But when we do land tomorrow, how will I know who you are? In the binder, it only gave me a description

Don't worry, you'll be able to know who I am immediately tomorrow.

Well that was very helpful of you, kind sir.

But if it makes you feel at ease, I have spiky blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. I'm the one with the three stars on my collar and most likely will be the one wearing sunglasses.

Almost immediately after his description of himself, another picture of my college boyfriend came to mind again.

Spiky blonde hair that shone like the sun.

Ocean blue eyes that I always get lost in.

The cute whiskered cheeks I liked placing my lips against.

A soft wet splat hit the screen of my phone. It didn't take me long to recognize the salty taste coming from the corner of my lips.

What the hell is wrong with me? I thought as I wiped the tears that followed the first.

It's been ten years since everything had happened. I remember the first few months, I kept breaking down at random times. Literally falling on my news when a single mere thought or a flash of his perfect face passed my eyes.

I've already met Hanako-senpai and Hisao-senpai by that time. Hanako-senpai would sit with me for hours at a time, a hand on my back and her brown eyes waiting for me to stop being in pain. Hisao-senpai simply threw me over his shoulder and took me out for an expensive dinner then some ice cream afterwards, making me laugh on the way.

Then Mina and Kazuki came along. Mina keeps telling me on repeat to move on whereas Kazuki threatens to castrate my ex.

For me, I've busied myself so much that I forgot him for a good few months around year three. And now, I just sometimes remember or dream about him then wake up on tears.

The actual happy moments we had are always haunting me.

The sad moments murdering me.

Two more buzzes signaled another text.

Hey Doctor, my eyes widened slowly at the words, my heart completely picking up its pace. I will do everything in my power to make sure that you will never get hurt.

Eskon - Japanese military support base

Naruto

Just as I sent that text, my phone face attacked me. I shot up, grabbing the right side in pain but didn't say anything.

Hopefully I didn't really frightened the head doctor. The only information I had on her is that she's a she. Sakura refused to give me any more information because that would probably be violating privacy rights. She didn't even give me the doctor's name.

I guess I only have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

It's not the first time we've had a hospital volunteer group at our base. But this is the first group from Tokyo and apparently from one of the best hospitals there is. The commander wanted us to be on our best behavior so they could bring back word that the Specials Forces team and the soldiers dispatched here are doing everything we can to help the citizens of Eskon.

It's not that we're not but since it's literally two dozen men and a few women who have all known each other for years. Let's just say we like to goof around a lot despite being almost thirty years old.

Yet Sakura is not giving me any information other then there are three women and two men coming? How am I supposed to be prepared for all this?

Wait hold on.

If this big, great hospital is doing this volunteer project, they must've advertised it on something. Let it be a newspaper or -

Their website!

I leapt out of bed, grabbing the walkie by my bedside table.

"Shadow come in," I pressed the side button just as I sat down.

Two seconds later, "What?"

"I need you to connect the Wi-Fi router for eight minutes," I continued, booting up the HP desktop. "Do it now."

Within seconds of my computer booting on, the little Wi-Fi button flashed then showed that I was connected.

"Alright," I clasped my hands. "Let's do this."

My fingers typed into the Google search engine, 'Hinode General Hospital.' It didn't take long for my native language to pop up with the first link of the website of the hospital. Clicking on it, I leaned in; my fingers resting on my chin.

So they are working on a new cure for some disease that is impossible to pronounce. Oh and they're planning on finding more volunteers for their pet program. Let's see... oh! Looks like they're having some Sukiyaki and mabo tofu on their menu for dinner yesterday night. Just thinking about that made my mouth water a bit. I sure do miss that authentic Japanese food. It sure does beat the Eskon canned tomato soup Sasuke makes to feed then entire base...

But not a single mention about the volunteer tea -. No wait, I spoke too soon.

My mouse hovered over the blue kanji letter, my right finger ready to press.

Alright doctors, just who are you people?

But right when I clicked, my door burst open and two people spilled in, faces red as if they ran across the entire base just to get to me.

Not just any two people, my idiotic deputy and his wife.

Working hand in hand, Sakura leapt at me covering my eyes.

"Sakura! What the fuck?!" I shouted, trying to pry her strong fingers off my eyes.

I heard the sound of wire unplugging.

"Sasuke!" I snapped at the soldier. "Are you unplugging my monitor?!"

Sakura finally let me go just as Sasuke was standing there, eyes wide and wrapped in his arms; my HP monitor.

"What the fuck is going on?!" I snapped at both of them, getting out of my seat.

The married couple exchanged a look of uneasiness before Sakura took a step forward, "Naruto. We can explain."

"Explain why you ran all the way from your room at full speed to steal my damn computer monitor, now!" I demanded, my annoyance and irritation these two are running very, very thin right now.

Sakura looked down at her feet, scuffling it a bit, "Well you see."

My ears pricked a little; awaiting her explanation. This had better be good.

However instead of the explanation I wanted, she whipped around to her husband, "Run!"

Then the couple bolted out of the room faster than they did coming in. It took me a few seconds to register what just happened. And when I did, I sprinted out of my room then towards the opened door they left open when they ran away in a hurry.

I ran out onto the front porch, angry and frustrated. Why don't they want me to see who's on the Hinode medical volunteer team? Are the doctors on there that bad at their job or something?

"You assholes!" I snapped at them but they disappeared into the setting sun without making any more sound. Sasuke even dropped my monitor once, scrambled to pick it up then disappeared behind the old truck blocking their room.

Dammit, I'm wasting my time.

They might've stolen my computer monitor but I do indeed have a smart phone that can connect to the internet. I cursed them under my breath once more before returning into the eating place, closing the door then locking it. If those jerks want to steal my phone this time, they're coming in through a window or up from a hole in the ground.

I walked towards the small kitchen, fetching myself a glass of water before settling down at the extra long dining table phone in hand, and straw in mouth.

Again, I typed in the hospital's name and this time instead of figuring out the menu for next week's lunch I went straight to the kanji words writing, 'Members of Volunteer Project named.'

The first picture, a photo-shot photo of a pretty handsome doctor filled my screen.

Then a female doctor that was almost breathtaking was right after him.

These guys must be the third years. That's probably why they were mentioned first. But how can doctors look like idols anyway? This hospital must require brains and look.

I continued to scroll to see my theory slowly becoming more and more true as a doctor in his first year took up my phone screen.

He definitely looked like a first year. His child-like yet attractive face is definitely going to bring him trouble here with Ino and despite being married, Sakura. She still likes chasing around cute guys even if her husband is around just for the fun.

Her aura screamed be careful. Unlike Dr. Miyahima who seemed cheerful and the go to person whenever you need cheering up, Dr. Soga is someone who I would not go to to talk about my life problems. They're both very beautiful but Dr. Soga screamed sexy.

These four doctors have looks and brains. I guess this is why Hinode General Hospital is so popular in Tokyo. You really can't get doctors anywhere else that look like this.

Alright, I got to see four of the five are. I need to see who the leader is in order for this whole scouting thingy to end in success.

Just as I was about to scroll down, a text came across my screen. Puzzled, I opened it to read what the sender had to say.

Words of advice: don't use empty words on girls unless you really mean it. If you're trying to flirt, don't make impossible promises.

I had to read the message a good ten more times to realize that something is eerie familiar with the words. Empty words? Unless I really meant it?

Of course I remember her last words. Her last words had haunted me every single night along with the way those beautiful unique eyes turned dull when she said those words as she was leaving.

"Don't use empty words such as I will never hurt you or I love you on girls unless you really mean it."

They were it.

Then, h-h-h-how come?

I left the message unreplied and went back to the webpage with the too attractive doctors. My thumb began shaking as I scrolled through the news post one more time.

Right when I reached Dr. Soga's picture I stopped. If she is really the leader... then what? What am I supposed to do?

But that's impossible, right?

No, she did study medicine before she left me.

And she's very smart. Hinode General Hospital probably did a lot in their power to be able to hire her for their own hospital.

I gulped, only one way to find out.

My thumb scrolled slowly, revealing the features of the leader one by one.

And unlike the warm, setting sun reaching out to touch me from behind; my heart sets as well into the cold reality that my next three months is literally a slap across my face for all my mistakes in the past.

Why?

Because Dr. Hinata Hyuga is coming to Eskon.

Shakingly, my hand reached into my belt towards the pocket. Pressing the side button and holding the communicator up to my mouth, dry as sand.

My eyes never once left her beautiful picture. Her perfect cream skin looked absolutely stunning with the same unique eyes shining no longer with the lifeless look she gave me before leaving.

No, she looked geniuely happy.

"Paper Fan, Blossom," my voice cracked a bit.

Not much later, Sasuke came through with a heavy sigh, "Shit. He has a phone with Internet connection."

"Nice going, dumbass," Blossom growled at her husband in the bakground.
