Happy 3rd Anniversary To Unikitty!
Today is the 27th of October.
Three years ago on this day, the very first episode Unikitty!, Spoooooky Game, was released as a sneak peek to the new show. I didn't watch it when it first came out; my first episode of Unikitty was actually No Day Like Snow Day. Or was it Sparkle Matter Matters? My memory's pretty bad. Still, I had no idea that this show was going to click for me just like a certain Mojang-Telltale game did. This one, though, was pretty different.
Without Unikitty, I don't think I would have been able to draw so well or have even been inspired to improve my art. I don't think I would have gotten into other amazing shows like Teen Titans and Mao Mao: HOPH. I don't think I would have even wanted to start exploring the world of cartoons. I'm in a lot of cartoon fandoms, but Unikitty was the one that started it all. With MC:SM by my side in the before time, I had wanted to become a game developer, but now I want to learn to animate. (What makes it even more convenient is that from what I can tell, animating is hard, but at the very least, it's a little bit easier than making video games.) If I wasn't in all of these cartoon fandoms alongside my video game fandoms, I also wouldn't have a purpose to be on the Internet. I originally wanted Wattpad to meet other MC:SM fans and let them see my fanfiction, but that was pretty much it. Look at me now, am I right?
Back in 2018, I used to write down stuff in my notes app to simulate having a Wattpad account, which I didn't at the time.
As you can probably see by these screenshots, 90% of what I wrote was Unikitty-related. I made memes, I drew fanart and I freaked out on basically anything having to do with Foxodile. If anything, it was even my motivation to get through middle school. As of today, I'm a high school sophomore, but I can't actually go to school right now, and we all know why. Even so, cartoons like Unikitty still keep me going, what makes it even better is that I met great people who like it as well.
The show does have some flubs here and there, but I still very much enjoy it thanks to how fun and cute it is and its surprisingly likable characters. It's also thanks to 2014 me liking Unikitty after I first saw the LEGO movie outside of theaters. That's a crucial reason in my opinion. So, now...
UNIKITTY, thank you for brightening mine and practically everyone else's days with insane happiness, fun adventures and lots and lots of sparkle matter. You can be pretty obnoxious sometimes, but people like you are the kinds of friends that not everyone is so lucky to have. I'm grateful that you're there for other people when you need to be and that you understand what makes them happy. The show wouldn't be the same if you weren't the star.
PUPPYCORN, thank you for being such an adorable and funny young pup. You might not exactly be coordinated, but you sure are charming. You provided many hilarious moments that I enjoyed watching. If I met you, I'd ask, "Can I give you a hug?" Even though there's a possibility that you'd be a little gross (and I mean no offense when I say that), I'd definitely do it.
DR. FOX, thank you for your smarts and your loyalty. You can be a little bit, uh, psychotic from time to time, but you still come through, and you know when you and your friends are or could be in danger. The costume I wore for the school play back in 7th grade looked a lot like you, and that made me think of dressing up like you for Halloween one year. I mean, we're both as sharp as a tack, so why not? Oh, and by the way, Hawkodile's got it bad for you in case you don't know already.
HAWKODILE, thank you for being such a trustworthy bodyguard and a radical action hero, as you call yourself. You're always there for the gang when they need you, and even though you're not very good at expressing your feelings (once again, no offense), you still are able to put your toughness aside when needed. I didn't really like you all that much in 2019, but I eventually warmed up to you after analyzing you more. Sorry about being so pushy with you and Dr. Fox in my earliest days.
RICHARD, thank you for keeping the castle and the Unikingdom as a whole fromfalling apart. You are pretty boring by most people's standards, but if it weren't for you, the kingdom would be a destroyed cesspool of chaos by now. Unikitty and her friends are lucky to have you. Come what may, but I'll support you no matter what you have to go through.
MASTER FROWN, thank you for being such an amazing and very hilarious villain. I loved watching you as a bad guy, but I'm very happy you came to your senses in the end. As Unikitty told you, you might be a huge grumpy-grouch, but that's cool with me. Besides, it's one of the things that make you who I know and love.
BROCK, thank you for your lovable nature and how you're such a good friend. You make me happy with how funny you can also be. You and Master Frown have a very healthy relationship, and it's pleasing to see because of how good you are at working through problems. I also like you because of your easygoing nature and your lenience. I'd totally try one of your cookies, too.
I would also like to thank all of the other villains, heroes and characters in the show for being awesome and the people who worked on the show for making them so awesome. They all played a part in entertaining 12-year-old to present me, and I'm the most grateful I possibly can be for that.
Ultimately, I hope that though the show may be over now, people will still continue to talk about it with me and read my Unikitty fanfiction. Made to Love isn't going anywhere and neither am I. Unikitty truly means a lot to me and that is a fact. Even years into the future, it will still have a special place in my heart because I'll be sure to remember it whenever I look back on why I love cartoons so much. I'll always look to the bright side of things, too. Once again, thanks to everybody who had a part in the show for making it so great, thanks to the show itself for being so fun and high-flying, and thanks to all of the characters for being so lovable. Happy 3rd-year anniversary to Unikitty!, a cartoon that changed my life. I loved it so much, I still do, and I always will cherish it.
