These are characters that are the group that represents the underwater kingdom of Marevi (MAHR-eh-vee). Their names are Waterlily, Shelltop, Spike, Marcella (aka "Butterpearl") and Cream. Here's a fun fact: lots of aquatic people in my AU ask to have Lego legs made for them. This is to transform themselves so they can go on land and have the best of both worlds.

First off, we have Princess Waterlily Coelenta, who is the co-leader of the group and the princess of Marevi (or, as her people call her, the Young Giver). She's a jellyfish Marevian with blue skin and a moon jellyfish bell on her head. She has teal blue eyes and black curly eyelashes that make it look like she's wearing black eyeliner. She also wears a necklace that has a blue-green jewel in the middle. Occasionally, she wears a diadem that looks very similar to her necklace. Her water blue jellyfish body, which is the body of a sea nettle, resembles a dress. Her land form's outfit consists of a bonnet that looks like her jellyfish bell and a blue strapless dress. Waterlily has hair that's so light blue it's almost white, but it is usually not visible.

Waterlily is dreamy and full of life. Mostly, she tries to swim through life with a go-with-the-flow attitude. She is a good listener, so she knows how to satisfy her people very well. She likes daydreaming about what makes her happy. She loves to tenderly care for the undersea blossoms in her garden. She's also a skilled artist, working with paint and ceramics. She gets upset when things go wrong around her, but she will go to any lengths possible to change the currents. She's an extremely merciful person who is respectful towards everyone. She stays true to her kingdom's values of honoring the life of all creatures. Because of that, she fixes problems through peaceful means. Generally, she'll try to let whatever happens happen unless there's something bad happening or it gets to be too much for her to take.

Shelltop and Waterlily have been the best of friends ever since they were both hatchlings. The two of them are extremely collaborative. Shelltop is the person Waterlily trusts more than anybody in the world. They have their own secret handshake and everything. She appreciates that his assertiveness can push them through trouble, and she's always rooting for him. Although she gets a little annoyed with how loud he can be, and she wishes he'd stop trying to practice volleyball in her garden, he makes her really feel alive. Lily feels like anything is possible when he's by her side. Truthfully, the two of them would be lost and helpless if they weren't there to uplift each other through their darkest moments.

Waterlily looks up to Spike and thinks he's one of the coolest people in the world. She's very caring and supportive of him, and she's understanding of him when he needs her help. She, Spike and Shelltop act like a trio of siblings because the three of them have been friends for nearly their entire lives. Often, they try to make each other laugh.

Marcella and Waterlily are also very good friends. Lily will be there for her if she needs help with something. Lily's given Marcella inspiration for film projects, and in turn, Marcella has given Waterlily inspo for art projects. The girls also totally love jewelry.

Waterlily loves to hang out with Cream as well. To her, he's the funniest person she knows. Cream is very polite with Waterlily and will bring her something if she needs it. She can't get enough of Cream's mixed-fruit pies.

Waterlily was born to a royal sea nettle and a just-as-royal moon jelly as the heir to the throne of Marevi. She grew up alongside her best friends and brother figures, Shelltop and Spike. Her childhood consisted of her discovering the beauty of the world's nature as she got to know her kingdom and its citizens. She treated the forces of nature like friends of hers and trusted them to keep things sailing smoothly. She also developed a creative, imaginative and dreamy side, so her head would often drift above the clouds. She learned to create, nurture, and kick Shelltop's tail fin at board games as she learned to govern with the heart and mercy her land stood for. However, while she loved her friends and her people dearly, she also learned how hateful people were capable of being. A selfish, gold-digging sea urchin who lived in the castle talked down to her and used her and her family as a way to make himself look good. The worst experience of her life was when that urchin tried to lure a sea monster to a market, a plan of his that backfired. She and Spike were at that market, and the attack caused the place to burn. Waterlily caught fire while she and Spike were trying to swim out, and she was terrified for her life because she didn't know what to do. Thankfully, all the fires were put out and the urchin perp was banished for good, but the time she was set on fire still sticks with her. It wasn't easy for Waterlily to regain her trust in nature's forces, but she's had her friends and family to support her.

In the face of danger or when there's a problem, Lily usually struggles to stay calm. Sometimes, she can feel discouraged by certain issues, thinking that she can't be a good person or a good ruler if she can't allow life to just do its thing. Because of the incident that happened in the store when she was younger, she has a terrible fear of fire to the point where she can't go near it without panicking. She's had nightmares about being burned. She sometimes treats her daydreaming like a way to escape the world when she feels overwhelmed.

Waterlily and Shelltop's room is sort of in a dome shape. Her side has navy blue walls and a turquoise floor. She has a circular bed with glowing plants on either side of it, plus a few shelves to keep all of her stuff, a table with bags of clay around it where she creates her pottery, and a reading desk where she likes to read and paint. The pride of her creations is a large painting of a gray whale, which is framed and hanging on her wall. Shelltop's corner is beneath Lily's, and the door is in Lily's area. So, Shell's area is sort of like a basement, and you can reach it by following a round, stone staircase.

Waterlily's headcanon voice actress is Lauren Tom. Her voice has the playful, but also innocent, Jinx ring to it.

Next up, we've got the other co-leader of the gang and Waterlily's best friend. His name is Shelltop Molluskas. He has light orange skin and bubblegum pink eyes, with a swirly, salmon pink seashell growing out of one side of his head. A downwards triangle below his neck is hot pink, and there's also a pattern on his arms and torso that's the same color as his shell. There's pink spots on his arms that signal the color fading into light orange. (Yup, pink is another skin color of his.) His tail is a bold yellow color that fades into a pale lemon yellow as it goes from his waist to the shell fin. In his land form, his outfit consists of a salmon pink shell hat, a pink T-shirt with a hot pink triangle color, bold yellow pants and lemon yellow shell shoes. Shelltop has red hair, but like Waterlily's hair, it is usually not visible.

Shelltop is an assertive but very short-tempered sea snail. He helps others with their daily responsibilities, but this normally causes him to forget about his own, so he has to be reminded to pick up after himself. If there's one thing Shelltop really loves to do, it's playing underwater sports and watching them. His favorite sport of all time is volleyball. He's on a local volleyball team, and he is quite a tough cookie. He has pretty good problem-solving skills that he acquired thanks to years of learning the ropes of teamwork. Though he's a bit of a loose cannon, he has a good heart, and you can count on him to boost you up so long as you do the same with him. Though his eagerness fades away from time to time, Shelltop will always try to pick himself back up. He sometimes carries around a whistle with him to blow when things are out of order.

Shelltop is closest friends with Waterlily. He cares very deeply about things being fair between them. In turn with her, he trusts her more than anybody else. If she's panicking or feels sad, he'll do anything to make her feel better. She's pretty inspiring to him because of how creative she is. She's the first person who will be there for him if he's feeling hopeless, and he's incredibly grateful for that. He's also grateful that she helps him calm down if he's stressed out or angry. He might get impatient with her on some occasions, but he'll always be there for Waterlily and will never not be her ride or die.

Spike and Shell get along like brothers. Shelltop finds it pretty enjoyable to prank Spike, but he keeps it mild. When talking about him, Shell often brings up how awesome he thinks Spike is and how great it is that he looks out for him. He's also found him a bit attractive for as long as they've known each other, but you didn't hear that from him.

Shelltop thinks that the best thing about Butterpearl is how daring she is. The two of them like to combine their forces and kick butt together.

Shelltop and Cream like to goof off and get silly together, but he reminds Cream often to stay out of his room when he needs some privacy. Shelltop really likes Cream's cookies.

Shelltop's parents have served the king and queen for a very long time. He hatched about eight months after Waterlily, and the two of them became fast friends. When Waterlily's parents went out to do important royal stuff with her, his parents often went too. Because of that, the two of them have traveled together once or twice. Shelltop's had a fervor for athletics since he was young, as it helped him socialize with other creatures around him. It taught him a thing or two about working with others. Despite this, Shelltop didn't feel very safe at home, and that was all thanks to the aforementioned urchin man. Shelltop's experiences with this man warped his state of mind. The urchin constantly felt the need to talk about Shelltop and his family behind their backs, telling lies about them under the guise of "helping them improve themselves". Young Shelltop's image of himself was worsened by this, but he was convinced that the urchin was "just trying to help him," so he listened to his cruel, untrue statements. Later on in his life, Shelltop realized that the urchin wasn't helping at all when his true colors were revealed. He would consistently talk bad about everybody in the castle, which led to Shelltop feeling worthless and unsafe. He hated himself for having trusted the man who put him and his two best friends in danger. Eventually, the urchin left the castle and was later banished, but the effects he had on Shelltop's self-esteem didn't leave.

Shelltop is an extremely irritable person. He often shows his nasty side when something bad is threatening the kingdom or if someone tries to put him down. He's a very stubborn shell boy, and he also can be careless about himself. Sometimes, he forgets to brush his teeth or keep himself clean. He gets defensive when meeting someone new, and he puts lots of effort into protecting the people he's closest to. He subconsciously feels the need to prove that he is a valuable person, even when others tell him so, because he feels like the urchin man is still trying to convince him otherwise.

Shell's corner in his and Waterlily's room also has a circular bed, and it's a room made for an athlete. It's got a long, wide TV that spans across the entire wall and goes from the ceiling down to the floor. It's perfect for watching sports events! The other walls are red, and the floor is orange. There are pictures of Shelltop and his friends and sports pennants hung up on the walls. Besides that, there's also shelves and drawers, most of which contain disheveled organizations of Shell's belongings.

Lauren Tom is also Shelltop's headcanon voice actress, only he sounds a lot like the grumpy, short-fused Gizmo.

Then, there's Spike Cecae (pronounced seh-KAI). He is an octopus/sea urchin hybrid with black spines for hair and lavender purple skin. His eyes have pink scleras with black pupils shaped like rhombuses. His teeth are sharp and pointed. On his chest, his skin has black spots signaling a fade-in to his black skin. He has eight black tentacles with light pink undersides. On his arms, he has black wristbands, and he's also got a pink sash around his waist. His land form outfit is simply a sleeveless black unitard with his sash and wristbands.

Spike is very polite and well-mannered, as well as patient. He's an open person, wanting others to know how he is feeling. He's the sweetheart of the group; he wears all three of his hearts on his sleeve. Nothing lifts his spirits like the sight of other people being happy. He is a novice singer-songwriter, as singing and making music are his favorite things to do. He is also an actor and an occasional poet. He likes to experiment with different genres, and he writes and performs in a musical theater-y style. His friends make him smile a lot, and Spike has a desire to share that with other people. It also cheers him up when he's feeling down. He has a pacifistic and kind nature; he doesn't like to hurt people or cause damage to anything. His optimistic attitude has led to others referring to him as a little ray of sunshine. Spike is very romantic as well.

Spike loves Princess Waterlily and Shelltop like they're his younger sister and brother. He partakes in the secret handshake they came up with. He, Shell and Lily have been there for each other ever since that mean old urchin, who was his father, tore things apart in their home. Spike loves to do calming things and artsy things with Lily. He adores how imaginative and easygoing she is, so he enjoys talking to her. Spike spreads positivity to Shelltop, making him laugh when Shell wants to laugh. The boys are super encouraging of each other, though Spike wishes that Shelltop would pick his gills way less often.

Spike and Marcella are dating and are deeply in love. His feelings for her come from how she's courageous, smart, sweet, and creative. He admires her talents for film and how fearless she is. He appreciates that she's respectful of his boundaries and that she makes him feel loved and accepted. Whenever she forgets to take care of herself, Spike gently reminds her to do so. He likes to sing for her.

Spike gets along well with Cream, although he, too, reminds Cream to stop spying on him and Marcella when they're alone together. Spike's favorite treats from Cream are his golden batter cake.

Spike was born in a more urban area of Marevi. He moved into the castle with his parents when he was very young, as his mother worked as the royal swordswoman at the time. (I should note that's not their military; she was basically a Scarer.) He quickly hit it off with Shelltop and Waterlily; he was less talkative of a kid than they were. Spike was taught to be kind and polite by his mom. He took up guitar, acting and singing lessons at his school, plus some flute lessons from his flutist grandfather. He also developed quite a way with words. His loved ones recognized his growing talents. But, back before he realized how much he loved his passions, his father tried to use the fact that he was married and had a child to get himself achievement points. Often times, he tried to thrust Spike and his mom into positions they didn't want to be in, thinking that he knew what was best for them. At the time, glass art was quite the trend in Marevi, and Spike showed interest in it, but his father tried to exploit that for his own gain. He also said horrible things about Spike, his family and his friends, justifying it by saying he was "helping them be better." As years went by, Spike and his loved ones came to fear him and felt betrayed, as they thought they could trust him. It wasn't easy for his mom to split from him, but she was able to do it with help from the sovereigns and the law. It didn't end there, though. Spike's father lured a sea monster to the market because he thought a battle would win his mother back. This resulted in him and Waterlily being put in a dangerous situation, and his cruel father being banished. His mother later gave up swordfighting to work as a strategist (which, in Marevi, spread friendship, positivity and peace to the people by helping them). Thanks to that incident, Spike often worries that he might be in danger.

It is easy to make Spike scared or nervous. If he needs to do something that embarrasses or discomforts him, he'll have a hard time doing it. He usually doesn't have any idea what to expect from going up to the surface. He panics very frequently, and when he's panicking, he tends to eject ink. Sometimes, he has trouble falling asleep at night. He might be a little too humble, as he tends to deflect praise or compliments.

His room is pretty big. The walls are light blue, the panel molding is white, and the floor is golden yellow. His bed has blue sheets, and the headboard is shaped like the sun. Symbols of the sun are carved into the panel molding because Spike uses the sun as his symbol. On the opposide side of his bed, he keeps a case for his semi-acoustic guitar, and a smaller case for a flute of his own. This case is normally adjacent to a small stage in his room with a microphone set up on it. A spotlight shining down on it hangs from the ceiling.

Spike's voice sounds like Randall Boggs from the Monsters Inc. duology (although Mr. Buscemi wouldn't actually voice him if he were canon, especially considering that he's in his 60s while Spike is 22).

Next, there's Marcella Gilden, who goes by the nickname Butterpearl. She has golden yellow skin and tan eyes with squared glasses over them. Her hair is short and black with yellow tips and spots. On one side, there is a pale yellow flower-like clip with pearly jewels that are the color of melted butter. She wears a necklace with pearls the same color as this, and her body is black with yellow spots. The fin at the end of her tail is a deep gold color. In her land form, she wears her clip and necklace along with a long-sleeved black dress with the same yellow spots.

Marcella has a can-do attitude and a confident, intuitive and smart mindset. She's very passionate and emotional. She's also the most daring of the group, wanting to toss the dice and take chances. She loves creating and editing videos and exploring new places; she documents her findings through film with a handheld video camera. She hopes to direct her own movies someday. She is a kind and loyal friend and lover who supports her loved ones through any situation. Being fearless and determined, she's the kind of person who would be willing to go out with a bang. She has three younger siblings named Dominic, Felicia and Julien, who love to hear about what she's up to. She'll tell them everything if Cream doesn't do it first.

She's very helpful towards, and also very close to, Waterlily and Shelltop. Marcella will jump in to help Waterlily if she sees her in trouble. Once or twice, she's given Shelltop advice for upcoming sports tournaments; she's shown him how to keep his cool. Waterlily has given her inspiration for film projects, and she's given Lily inspiration for art projects as well. Butterpearl likes how mellow Waterlily is, and she'll be there for her if something's wrong.

She has great feelings for Spike as much as he does for her, and she is the best at making him laugh. She likes him because he's sweet, patient, talented, and has three very kind hearts. She encourages him to care for himself just like he encourages her to. She and Spike often kiss and embrace each other; he adores every single kiss they share.

Cream is Marcella's best friend. She reminds him to do stuff if he forgets, teaches him skills she's learned, comes to his aid if he's sick or injured, and often brings him along for her film shoots. Despite how he's not that good at minding his own business, Cream is the funniest person she knows, and she generally sees him as an absolute joy to be around. You could say that he's the Lee to her Swanna; Marcella would be pretty surprised to find out she and Cream have that in common with them. She's a huge sucker for Cream's tiramisu.

Marcella hatched in a neighborhood in the southwestern areas of Marevi. She was encouraged by her explorer dad to be curious about the world around her. Eager to explore, she started going out to make discoveries and hunt for treasures at a young age. Her folks had land legs made for her when she was a young kid, too. She was kind of overly eager about going on her journeys because she'd usually get so lost in them that her family had to catch her before she could get hurt. She's always liked to catch the things she found on camera and come up with cool action sequences of them in her mind. This ignited a passion for editing the videos she filmed to make them look cooler. That subsequently expanded into her love and appreciation for film. She nicknames herself the way she does because she's always thought that the spots on her body looked like little buttery pearls. The "butter" part of it, according to her, might come from her love for her parents' cooking, and how she generally likes her food with butter. She met Waterlily, Shelltop and later Spike when her mom, a jeweler, started making jewelry for the king and queen, or the Givers of Life, as Marevians call them. Once they came to trust her, they invited her to come live with them in the castle. While she loves exploring the world and being the swashbuckling spotted fish she is, she can't tell when she might be putting herself in danger; this has been a problem of hers for nearly her whole life. Marcella is still learning from her experiences, though, so she's trying to find a way to be more careful with what she does.

Marcella loves discovering new things, but she can venture too far, which can lead to her getting in trouble. She is somewhat reckless about her own needs since she considers the needs of others more often. She's the one in the group that heads up to the surface the most, and she can forget to stay hydrated when she's up there (aquatic people sorta need to have water with them or around them to stay alive). She struggles with being patient, too, since she wants to get her daily tasks done as fast as possible so she can go have fun afterwards.

Her room in the castle has green walls and a slate gray floor. She's got a calendar and a couple of bookshelves, and there are a LOT of very organized shelves where she keeps her collection of treasures (most of which came from on land). She also has a set of filmmaking equipment, such as her camera, a tripod, a lighting kit, a mic, a green screen and her computer. Her bed is in the shape of a canary yellow oyster. There's a desk where she can read and study her treasures, as well as a poster of a bed of clams and another poster of a rainbow.

Her other room at her family's home looks very similar to this. It has a grayish floor and light golden walls. On one wall, there's a large map of Marevi. On another, there's a poster of a sailing galleon ship. On the shelves, she keeps items that she found in the sea around her, such as uniquely shaped rocks, shedded fish scales, and a few small fossils. Her bed here resembles a shimmering stone; the frame is gray, but her sheets are a brilliant yellow color. There's also a table with a built-in shelf that houses a collection of encyclopedias. She has another computer that she uses to store her projects. 

I imagine her voice sounds like Ashleigh Ball's real voice. While she wouldn't actually voice her, that's what I imagine her voice sounding like.

Last but not least, there's Cream Pygmae. He is a pygmy seahorse with a mauve purple skin tone and orange eyes. His hair is outlined with a darker shade of mauve, and it's tied into a low ponytail. His body is also a darker mauve color. It ends with a tail that swirls behind him, which becomes the lower part of a sleeveless suit he wears in his land form.

Cream is optimistic, goofy and also very mischievous. He's always testing out new things,  mixing together different ingredients to see which ones suit him. He lives his life like there's no tomorrow and always tries to bring the party. He's funny and cheerful, as well as responsible with himself. If he's feeling under the weather or if he got hurt really badly, Cream goes to his dads' place to recover. Because his parents run a confectionery, Cream has a love for baking treats for his loved ones. In his opinion, fixing desserts is one of the best ways to make someone feel better if they're not in a good mood. Along with his loving fathers, he has a big brother named Whip, whom he trusts with all his heart.

Cream is polite to Waterlily and Shelltop, who were kind enough to give him his own room in the castle as well. Cream goes out of his way to bring some fun in their direction. Cream, as much as he can't resist sticking his tail in others' business, knows when to give them space, since he can just find other ways to occupy himself.

As for Spike, Cream is especially nosy towards him. Most of the time, he takes a peek at things he and Butterpearl are doing. Even so, Cream is respectful of his cool older brother-in-law figure, and he also helps Spike calm down when he's in panic.

Cream has a tendency to follow Butterpearl around. He loves to explore with her, and he often appears in her videos. He's learned a lot of cool stuff from her, such as how to map a route from the castle to a certain point of interest. Her lack of patience makes it hard for Cream to keep up with her sometimes, but he still has very high respect for her, and she's his best friend ever.

Cream grew up in a dessert shop with his dads and his older brother, where he learned everything he knows about baking. Cream started out as a pretty shy person; he had trouble talking to the bakery's customers, and he didn't know what kind of person he wanted to be. The establishment is popular enough for the queen and king to have ordered from it. Cream befriended Marcella when he was a kid, and he met her when he saw her passing by outside with her camera. He did start to befriend regular customers of the bakery, and that went well for him since he still goes to hang out with them to this day. He properly introduced himself to Waterlily, Shelltop and Spike, who recognized him as the kid from the bakery, and he learned a lot about what kind of people they were. Opening himself up to people turned Cream into the fun-loving goofball he is now. He also became pretty nosy (because of how curious he now was to learn about what was going on in his friends' lives). He was later invited to live in the castle, just like Butterpearl. Cream was thrilled to be moving in, but he still has strong connections with his family in the bakery. Besides just his silliness and baking, Cream is trying to figure out what else there is to him. 

Cream can be intrusive in people's personal space. It's hard for him to resist being snoopy. He can get uncertain when he sees his pals in trouble, not sure what to do to help them. Uncertainty is a notable flaw for Cream because he's trying to map his personality out. He doesn't just want to be one thing. Something that he and Marcella have in common is that he, too, has trouble remembering things.

Cream's room is a wide room that's a fair distance from Butterpearl's. It has white wallpaper with sprinkle patterns on it, the floor is light pink, and it's decorated with eco-friendly string lights on the ceiling. His bed has a board that resembles a cluster of soft coral, and his sheets are olive green. It has a poster of a sunlit island on the wall as well as posters with cakes, brownies and muffins on it. He also has a round swing chair with a giant cushion in it and a cabinet that's well-stocked with his favorite midnight snacks.

His other room in his family's home has pink walls with a curvy red stripe pattern and a purple floor. There are potted seaweed plants in two corners of the room. Hanging from the ceiling are many candy-colored ribbons and streamers. His bed in his other room has cream orange sheets and resembles fan coral, and brightly colored fan coral at that. He's also got a table with a small oven on it, a large soft cushion on the floor, and a chair that rocks back and forth like a seesaw or rocking horse.

I think that Cream's headcanon voice would be Donatello from TMNT: Mutant Mayhem.

The five friends live in a palace with Waterlily's parents, Shelltop's parents and Spike's mother. It is a humongous building with a gorgeous garden surrounding it, plus plenty of colorful lanterns in the shape of jellyfish bells. The castle has plenty of windows, and some of its features are a throne room that's decorated with bioluminescent plants, some plant incubators Waterlily also looks after, a library Butterpearl can sometimes be found in, a relaxation room Spike and his mom hang out in, a living room, a kitchen area, a few guest rooms and a medical room, which is primarily used to give first aid.
