Encanto- Valentina and Lucian

How are we doing this morning/afternoon/evening, my fellow Encanto fans? After seeing the movie a bunch of times, I decided to come up with my ideas for the next generation of fantastical, magical Madrigals. Why didn't I make them a part of the movie's story? Because I didn't want to, there's a lot of them, and doing this would be much better for them mentally.

I haven't drawn either of them yet, but Valentina and Lucian are Julieta's grandchildren and the children of one of her daughters. I haven't decided which one. I'll flesh this out better once I do.

Valentina Adela Jiménez Madrigal is 16 years old. She was given Mirabel's middle name (I checked the wiki, that's what her middle name is). She has a tannish complexion, brown eyes, and straight blackish-brown hair that goes down to below her neck. A strand of her hair usually hangs to her front. She also has a wide nose, freckles, and a mole on the right side of her chin with hairs sticking out. There are two fish gills on either side of her neck. Her usual clothing is a light grayish-blue blouse and a long, water blue skirt with a pattern of fish sewn along the bottom. She wears blue sandals with teal ribbons as her footwear.

Lucian Mauricio Jiménez Madrigal is her 9-year-old little brother. He has a lighter skin tone than his sister. His hair is black and curly, and his eyes are hazel. His eyebrows are very thick. He also has puffy cheeks. Usually, his eyes look very bright because of his gift of night vision. He often wears a dark blue shirt (to represent the night) with a triangular pattern on the bottom that is a lighter shade of blue. With it, he wears gray pants and tan sandals.

Valentina is known for her keen senses, her sharp mind and her good reflexes. She can help you look for something you've lost. She is one to never give up, and her endurance can go on for a long time. Val is much like water itself; she's helpful to others, and she's tranquil and relaxed a lot of the time. But in stormy times, her currents speed up and get more turbulent, and soon she's as ferocious as a crashing wave. Val really, really loves to swim, and her prowess as a swimmer has become excellent thanks to her gift. She'll get tuckered out and want to sleep if she stays in the water for too long. She tries not to overexert herself.

Valentina was born into the Madrigal family many years after they rebuilt their beloved Casita. Her mom met a man who showed up in the Encanto one day in search of something (what he was looking for will be elaborated on once I figure out which sister is her mom). When she was little, Val loved to play around in any river or stream she could find; she frequently went into the now-grown-up Antonio's room to splash around in there. In this time, the children could decide whether or not they wanted to have a gift of their own, and Valentina decided she wanted one. She was given the gift to breathe underwater, and they say it's because of a time she bravely helped Isabela retrieve something she'd dropped at the bottom of the pond in her upgraded room. When she got her gift, her magical fish gills appeared on her neck. Her human respiratory system closes up when she's in the water, and her gills open, allowing her to breathe.

Val's room has a very tranquil atmosphere. It has a grassy and sandy floor and an open sky as her ceiling, making it feel like you're sleeping by a lake. Besides her bed and dressers, there is a large, wide and deep pool with some sand surrounding it, and it goes all the way to the back wall, which is the side of a mountain. A bunch of fish swim around in this pool.

Lucian is a light that refuses to go out. He has a big sense of confidence and self-assuredness. Though he can be bossy sometimes, he usually knows what to do. He gets nervous or frightened by new things, but he is able to overcome those fears. He acts as a guiding light to his family and his friends at school, though he gets riled up if someone tries to question his leadership. Lucian has a bit of a problem with taking advice, and he'll shout, "Don't tell me what to do!" whenever someone tries to talk to him about it.

Lucian came along when Val was 7. He was super frightened of the dark and everything that might lurk within it during his earlier years of life. He'd always ask Casita to turn on a light when it was bedtime; otherwise, he wouldn't be able to sleep and would lie under the covers, sweating. He was also a bed wetter. He also decided to receive a gift, hoping it would help him combat these fears. He was later gifted with the ability to see in the dark. When he's in darkness, his eyes start to glow, allowing him to see where he's going. Other people see beams of light coming from Lucian's eyes, making him look like a living flashlight.

Lucian's room is illuminated very well. His room is shaped circularly. He has a slate gray wallpaper and a dark blue floor. There is an enormous lamp in the center of the ceiling, with a space in the ceiling caved in for it. There are also a bunch of wall lamps placed between the windows. The blanket on his bed is dark blue with a bunch of beams of light streaking across it. His clothes are kept in an armoire. There is also a piano in his room.

A very long time before they were born, Alma peacefully passed away. Val and Lucian often think about what it would be like to have met their great-grandmother because she sounded like a very nice woman.

The movie is heavily implied to have taken place during the late 40s-early 50s because Pedro looks to have been killed during the Thousand Days' War. I am going to confirm that for Valentina, Lucian and their second cousins (Dolores and Mariano's kids), it's the late 70s-early 80s.
