Elatha

I stared out the window longingly. My head rested on my fist as I watched the stars twinkle in the moonlight. Sila walked in. She was short, had green hair, and blue eyes, My head slipped off my chin and snapped back up. Sila bowed.

"Uhm, am I intruding on something important..?"

"No, just me feeling sorry for myself... as usual, waiting on a throne to be useful.." I sighed.

Sila shook her head and handed me a stack of papers. "Here, make yourself useful then and do this paper work. The queen orders it. Its nothing to boring! Just..... Prisoner files and whatnot..."

I nodded my head and took the stack of papers as she hurried off down the hall.

I picked up the stack and looked and the first file. George Striyson. Imprisoned for defying the court and sneaking over to the Sunlings. I approved the file and flung it on the ground. Next. Afron Kingston. Fugitive who escaped to work with the Sunlings. Uncaught. I sighed, approved the file and flung it on the ground.

Around fifty files later, I was half asleep. Files were scattered everywhere, and as soon as I finished, Sila walked back in. Glaring at the mess, she dodged the files, walked up to my throne, and tapped me sharply on the shoulder. I jerked awake.

"I have....News. A bomb just destroyed half of Solis and the Sunlings are distraught. They are accusing us of shooting the bomb at them. But the funny thing is, we didn't. For once at least. I sent your mother, Queen Harvlen, to go reassure Queen Aelia, of the Sunlings. She just had her coronation today, actually. I would say she is around your age."

I stared curiously at Sila. "Why are you telling me about this?" I said suspiciously.

Sila blinked, confused. "Well, you are the Crown Princess, so, it is kind of your job to know these things-"

I shook my head. "No, about the Queen. Aelia. Why are you telling me about her?"

Sila hesitated. "No, No reason. Just thought you would like to know."

I glared at her. "Don't lie. Why?"

Sila nervously bowed and said, "well, that's it for today, I hear the queen calling me, goodbye your majesty."

She hurried away. Rolling my eyes, I yelled, "MY MOTHER ISN'T HOME," after her.

I picked up a silvery strand of my hair and started to twirl it around my finger, while staring out the window. I sighed. Sila would never lie to me. She never has. What would be so important that she had to hide it from ME? I got off my throne and stood up, stretching my back and yawning. Clumsily, I made my way down some steps to the door, almost tripping over my dress. Once I was out in the hall, I heard my mothers voice. Wasn't she in Solis? Lunis isn't too close to Solis......and I would recognize her voice anywhere. It was cold, sharp, and cutting, but full of authority and power. Curiously, I quietly made my way

down the hallway, and I stood right outside the throne room, just close enough to make out what they were saying. The voice talking currently was Sila.

"Your majesty, I think Crown Princess Elatha has started to catch on to your plan."

"Nonsense," My mother replied, "She certainly doesn't have the wits for that."

Offended, I glared and moved closer to the large doors.

"Your highness, based on your experience with Queen Aelia, I don't think an alliance will work."

"You dare question me Sila? We will go through with this, and war will occur if unsuccessful. I quite obviously won't be queen for much longer, so when Elatha takes over, she needs to be prepared to fight. I'm thinking of putting this plan into action around the time of the next blue moon, so around the end of this week."

"But, but your highness, are you sure you are ready for this?"

"Yes, and I-"

I leaned closer to the door, straining my ear to hear what happened next. On my tiptoes now, I arched my head up, to try and hear again. I looked at the ground at my ice colored boots. Sliding an inch forward, my boot got stuck on my dress. Stifling a cry, my other boot got caught as well. I stifled another shout, and before I could regain my footing I fell. I fell forward into the door, and the door slammed open through the weight. I fell to the ground, my legs flying through the air, my hair whipping around, and my face slammed to the ground. Eek, that was going to leave a mark. I groaned and pulled myself up. My mother, Queen Harvlen, and Sila were staring at me, Sila had a look of confusion along with my mother, whose face went from confused, to angry, to mad, to livid, in the matter of seconds.

"ELATHA HARVELEN WHAT IN THE NAME OF LUNIS IS GOING ON."
