Sophia Green

Wrote this when I was really tired so it's not the best.
Also this is the same Sophia from my other one shot: Charlotte Wonders

Today had been a pretty good day, Percy thought as he exited the building that was Goode High School. Well, as good as high school can get. Percy thought about how he woke up, ate breakfast, and caught a ride with Paul to school. He had no monster attacks, making this particular Friday even better.

His classes weren't too bad and, much to his surprise, Percy's ADHD and dyslexia had stayed under control. Literature at the senior level was difficult enough without dyslexia but put them together and it's a complete nightmare. So, he was very grateful that he was actually able to read today.

But it went by so slow. For two main reasons; it was finally Friday and Annabeth was supposed to come over for dinner. Percy was ecstatic to see his girlfriend after two months of separation. She'd been too busy with school work and designs Olympus to stop by every few days.

Percy could almost smell the delicious scent of his mom's infamous blue cookies. He just couldn't wait to get home, eat some cookies, spend some time with Annabeth, and actually get a full night of sleep since school started.

"Percy!" A voice shouted out to him from behind. He turned around from his spot on the stairs and saw his friend, Sophia Green, walking towards him. She sat down beside him. "It's finally Friday."

"I know," Percy breathed in relief. "I can't wait to get home."

Sophia smiled, her eyes darting around the parking lot. "What are you up to tonight?"

He shrugged. "My girlfriend's coming over."

"Oh?" She gave him a suggestive smirk and side glance.

His cheeks colored. "Oh, no, not like that." Percy held his hands up and shook his head, looking like a deer caught in the headlights. "We haven't gone that far."

"I was only kidding," She laughed.
"Oh." Percy nodded. "What are you doing tonight?"

"Nothing special. I'll probably just hide out in my room while my dad sits around and gets drunk." Sophia smiled sadly out into the horizon, readjusting her backpack strap on her shoulder. "The usual."

Percy nodded, understanding that her dad was a sore topic. Sophia had told him the story a few months after they became friends; her mom left when she was a baby, breaking his dad's heart. According to Sophia's information, her dad got a girlfriend but wasn't completely over her mom. His girlfriend found out and, well to put it bluntly, left. After that, he drowned out his sorrows with alcohol, leaving Sophia to take care of herself most of the time.

"Well," Percy started. "You could come and hang out with Annabeth and me."

Sophia perked up, sighing in relief, and asking eagerly, "Really?"

"Of course." Percy smiled and turned his head, catching a glimpse of blonde curls and piercing grey eyes. His breath caught in his throat and he stood, staring intently at his gorgeous girlfriend. She had let her hair down, letting it fall over her shoulders. She hadn't changed out of her uniform she was required to wear as a student at her boring boarding school. Percy noticed that the first couple buttons on her shirt were undone and her tie was loosened the slightest bit.

In other words, she couldn't have looked more perfect in that moment.

He quickly jogged down the steps and left Sophia to talk to her dad over the phone about where she'll be the next few hours.

----

Sophia pressed the 'end call' button on her phone with a sigh. Her dad was simply impossible to talk to when he was drunk so she gave up. Her head snapped back up to Percy when she heard a sharp intake of breath.

He seemed to be staring at something at the bottom of the staps, his eyes shining with excitement. Wanting to know what the commotion was about, Sophia followed his gaze and her forest green eyes froze on a teenage girl; Annabeth, Percy's girlfriend.

She watched with a small smile and soft gaze as he jogged quickly down the steps, enveloping Annabeth in a tight hug. Percy pulled away and mumbled a few things in his girlfriend's ear before turning around, gesturing for her to come over.

"Hey," Sophia said, her cheeks turning pink when she came to stand beside Percy. "I'm Sophia Green, Percy's friend from school." She stuck her hand out, a welcoming gesture.

Annabeth clasped her hand firmly and shook. "Annabeth Chase, this idiots girlfriend," She joked, laughing at the face Percy made at her.

"Nice to finally meet you," Sophia voiced in respect. She was actually very excited to meet her after hearing many stories and mentions of Annabeth. "I've heard a lot about you."

Percy gritted his teeth and leaned towards her ear. "Sophia!" He whined in a short whisper. "Don't expose me!"

Sophia shrugged, not feeling guilty. "Sorry."

Annabeth's grey eyes shone in amusement, flashing between her and Percy. She was kind of surprised to notice that Annabeth didn't have an ounce of jealousy towards Sophia. Usually, when she talked to taken guys, the girls always had to make a snarky comment or pull their boyfriend's away.

But, Annabeth was different. Sophia could just feel it. "So." Annabeth smiled, moving to stand beside Percy and slipped her fingers between hers. "Are you coming with us? Sally makes the best cookies."

"If you don't mind. I could always go home if you two wanted some alone time," Sophia offered and fiddles anxiously with her fingers. Because, honestly? She did not want to go home.

Annabeth waved her off. "Don't be an idiot and come with us."

"A-alright," She stammered in shock.

On the way to Percy's, Sophia stood beside him the whole time quietly and listened in on the couple's conversations. They swung their intertwined between them as they walked and it caused Sophia's heart to lurch. They were just too cute.

But at some point, she stopped listening. Their words became muffled in her ears when she stopped walking when she heard a soft hissing noise. Sophia strained her ears to pick up the odd sound again. Percy and Annabeth must have heard it to because they instantly closed their mouths and stood back to back, their eyes roaming the streets and sidewalks.

"Did you hear that?" Annabeth whispered as she pulled a...dagger out of her purse.

Sophia decided that now was not the time to ask.

Percy nodded, taking out a ballpoint pen and uncapped it. The pan transformed into a three foot long bronze sword. He held it in front of him protectively and looked ready to lunge at anything that came their way. "Yes."

Then, a woman with green slitted eyes walked- no- slithered out from the alley. Her bright green hair floated around her back in fiery flames. Sophia noticed that her skin was tinted green and looked a bit...scaly? And instead of legs she had a very thick and long scaly tail.

"Demigodsss," The monster hissed, her slit tongue peeking out from between her lips. "Just in time for snack time." She rubbed her hands together in anticipation.

"Well, you see here, Ms. Snake Lady," Percy said, getting ready to attack when the monster wasn't expecting it. "You might not want to eat us."

"Why issss that?" She asked, her pointy eyebrows slowly raising.

Annabeth stepped out from behind Percy and glared. "Because we would like to live and maybe, oh you know, not die?"

The monster rolled her green eyes. "Too bad." She stretched her hands out and talons protruded from her fingers. Her teeth sharpened themselves and she lunged towards the small group of demigods.

It happened all too fast. Percy and Annabeth slashed their weapons but the monster dodged them and swiped her talons towards Percy. He jumped backwards and took another jab at Percy.

Sophia was dumb enough and called out their names. The monster, or Dracanae as she heard Annabeth call it, whipped her head around and hissed. "What do we have here?" She whispered, slithering towards Sophia and leaning down. "Smells tasty. New and fresh demigod; my favorite."

She held in a scream as the sharp teeth came closer and closer to her skin but all of a sudden she was coated in gold dust. Breathing heavily, Sophia opened her eyes and stared at Percy and Annabeth. "What. Was. That." She demanded.

"A Dracanae, a Greek monster." Annabeth sheathed her dagger.

Sophia furrowed her eyebrows and asked disbelievingly, "A Greek Monster?"

"Yes." Percy capped his sword and it turned back into a pen. "We have to go to Camp Half-Blood. We'll explain everything on the way but right now we have to hurry."

----

After calling a cab and convincing the driver to take them to a nonexistent place, they finally reached Camp. Sophia stepped outside the taxi and stretched her legs, taking a look around. "All I see is a hill and strawberry fields."

"Climb the hill," Annabeth suggested.

Percy glanced behind them and his eyes widened in alarm.. "Don't look behind you and run up the hill."

Sophia didn't ask questions and darted up Half Blood-Hill. But she did glance behind her and saw three more dracane following them. He breath caught in her throat and she turned back around, running faster than she ever did before. She made it to the top, Percy and Annabeth right behind her.

"The Dracanae!" Percy shouted and suddenly four kids dropped down from the trees sporting different types of weapons.

"We've got them!" One of the kids exclaimed. "You get the newbie inside!"

Annabeth shoved Percy and Sophia forward and they passed some sort of barrier. "I'll stay and help them right these things off." She drew her dagger.

Percy nodded. "Be careful."

"Always." She winked and placed a Yankees cap on the top of her head, disappearing.

"Okay, this is Camp Half-Blood." Percy lead her down the hill where a...half man and half horse stood. Okay, now she'd seen everything.

They made it to the bottom and the Centaur smiled. "Welcome back, Percy!" He exclaimed, shaking his hand. He looked over to her and smiled, holding out his hand in which she shook. "And who are you, Dear?"

"Sophia Green." She let go of his hand. "And you?"

"Chiron."

Sophia's eyes widened comically. "As in the Centaur from Greek mythology who helped train demigods?" She asked disbelievingly.

Chiron nodded. "Yes, Dear. Now, I think Percy shall give you a tour of Camp." He looked at Percy with a raised eyebrow. Percy nodded, saluting the Centaur.

Then something green glowed above her and she looked up. A green conrucopia glowed over her head. "What does that mean?"

Percy and Chrion bowed to her along with other demigods. "All welcome, Sophia Green, Daughter of Demeter!" Chiron exclaimed and cheers erupted from around them.

"My mom is the Greek Goddess, Demeter?" Sophia asked.

Chiron nodded once again. "Yes, Child. Now on with your tour." He frowned and turned to Percy. "Where's Annabeth?"

"She's-"

He was cut off by an urgent shout, "Hurt Demigod! I repeat, hurt demigod! In need of immediate attention!" Campers suddenly started bolting up the hill, carrying all sorts of different things. Some carried more weapons, some carried first aid kits, and others carried a stretcher. "Hurry, hurt Daughter of Athena! There was poison!"

Percy's eyes widened and Sophia heard the breath get caught in his throat. "No," He whispered and started to sprint up the hill, Sophia right behind him. They broke through the barrier and Percy squeezed his way through the crowd of half-bloods and Sophia followed.

The sight would simply haunt her for years.

Annabeth laid on the ground with her hair fanned out around her, a long and deep cut on her thigh causing the blood to seep into her skirt. The skin surrounding the cut was once tan but now it was turning a light green. It seeped out blood and what looked like to be green goo that sizzled against her skin. Annabeth clenched her teeth and a single tear escaped from her eyes, rolling down her temple.

"Annabeth," Percy breathed, dropping on to his knees. He reached for her hand that was holding her thigh and grabbed it, blood now on his hand. "You're going to be okay."

"Okay," She whispered through her teeth, nodding. "AH!" She screamed, dropping Percy's hand to hold the side of her leg, another tear rolling down her face.

Sophia looked back down to see that the green stuff was now turning parts of the cut black. Was it burning her? "Oh gods." She'd heard other people say it and now since she was part of it, why not?

"Will!" Percy shouted.

A boy around the same age as them rushed forward, dropping to his knees next to her leg. "Oh, god." He inspected the cut and grimaced when Annabeth cried out again. "Get her on a stretcher, NOW!"

She was instantly lifted onto a stretcher and Percy grabbed her hand, holding on tight. He gave Sophia a look and she nodded, following them. They walked across camp and then entered a building called 'Infirmary'.

"Lay her down on that bed." Will pointed to a bed furthest away from the door. "Pull the curtains around her too." He glanced over at Sophia and forced a grin. "You can stay if you think you can handle it."

"I can. She's my friend." Sophia stood her ground and took a seat next to Percy who was staring down at his girlfriend with concern.

"It hurts," Annabeth whimpered, squeezing Percy's hand.

Percy bent down, pressing his lips to her sweaty forehead, and brushed the hair away from her face. "I know, Wise Girl."

"Okay, let's get started before the poison goes any further." He slipped on a pair of rubber blue gloves and sat down next to Annabeth's leg. Will grabbed a bottle of golden liquid and a rag. "Ready, Annabeth?"

She nodded, squeezing Percy's hands so tight that Sophia could see his fingers turning blue but he didn't care. Will slowly poured the liquid carefully over the wound and Annabeth cried out in pain. He then started cleaning the cut with the rag.

Sophia looked up from Annabeth's leg and noticed her hand began to shake. Passing it for nerves, she didn't think anything of it but then she noticed Annabeth's eyes roll into the back of her head. "Uh, Will."

"Busy." He continued to clean the cut.

"Will!" She shouted. "She's starting to seize!"

"What?" He looked up from her leg and his eyes widened. Annabeth's eyes had rolled into the back of her head and she started to shake uncontrollably. "Get the IV in her!" He looked at Sophia and Percy. "I need you guys to leave."

Percy nodded, tears in his eyes as he quickly left the infirmary. Sophia walked out after him and saw him sitting on the steps, his face in his hands. "Hey," She said. "Annabeth's going to be okay."

He looked up. "I never should have let her stay and fight."

"She's a demigod and I'm guessing that's what you guys have to do," Sophia told him, trying to comfort him and take his mind off of his girlfriend but nothing worked so she settled for silence.

About an hour later, the door opened, and Will appeared.

Percy stood up faster than lightning and looked at Will pleadingly. "Please tell me she's okay."

Will nodded. "The poison got into her bloodstream and caused the seizure. While she was seizing her heart stopped but we got it beating again." He took a deep breath and ran a hand through his shiny blonde hair. "We managed to get all the poison out of her and stitch the wound up. She's stable and should be waking up in a few minutes."

"Her heart stopped?" Sophia asked, following Percy inside the infirmary.

"Let's not talk about that part," Percy muttered.

There was a loud gasp then the cry for, "Percy!" Hearing the call of his name, Percy jogged over to Annabeth's bed and immediately enveloped her in a hug.

"Oh my gods, Annabeth." He hugged her tighter, pressing her side of her face to his chest while he stroked her hair. "Your heart stopped." His voice cracked at the end.

"I'm okay now." Annabeth wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her face into his chest. "I'm okay."

Percy pulled away and held her face in his hands. "I almost lost you."

"But you didn't." She kissed him.

Sophia smiled and walked out of the infirmary, giving them some space to be alone. She sat down on the porch and stared out at Camp. It was amazing. Demigods were everywhere. Playing volleyball, sparring, just running around camp. Some were climbing a rockwall and others walked around chatting amongst themselves.

She was so deep in thought about Camp that she didn't someone come to stand in front of her. "Excuse me?"

"Yes?" She snapped out of her thoughts and looked up.

"Do you need a tour?" The boy asked. He was around her age and had brown curly hair, chocolate colored eyes that seemed to glow in the sunlight, and he had a smile that could light up a dark room. "My names Tyler. Son of Hephaestus."

Sophia smiled. "Yeah, I do need a tour."

Tyler smiled and held out his hand in which she took but once she stood, he didn't let go. "Well? What's your name?"

"Sophia Green," She said as they started walking. "Daughter of Demeter."

"Well, Soph, let's show you around."

Sophia couldn't help the way her heart fluttered when he called her that. She's been slightly jealous about Percy and Annabeth and of how in love they were but maybe, just maybe, she'd found her perfect someone.

And that's how she met Percabeth ...and Tyler.
