Chase Family Reunion Part 5
Author: It is the day of the reunion so this chapter may be really long.
Annabeth POV:
I woke up to Luke's cries. I looked at the clock that was placed on the wall. 7:30 a.m. I sighed and got out of bed. I walked over to the packing play and looked at my screaming baby. "Ah, Luke. What's Mommy going to do with you?" He kept crying. I leaned down and picked him up. I bounced him a little bit. "Are you hungry?" I sat on the bed and leaned against the backboard. I lifted up my shirt and Luke latched on and started eating. I grabbed his blanket and covered myself. As Luke ate I looked at my sleeping husband. Percy was still in the same position as the one he fell asleep in. The only difference was he was hugging his pillow instead of me and drool was coming out of his mouth. I quietly chuckled. I raked my fingers through his hair. Luke stopped eating so I adjusted my shirt and started burping him as I grabbed the diaper bag and walked down the stairs. I walked into the kitchen to see no one there. I guess no one's up yet. I walked over to a chair and sat down. I unzipped Luke's onesie and took it off.
"Let's take a bath, Lukey." I said. I held him against my chest as I turned on the sink water. I set the diaper bag on the counter next to the sink. I adjusted the water so it was warm but not too cold and not too hot. I took Luke's diaper off and then set Luke in the water, keeping a hand on his back. The water reached up to his bellybutton and he splashed the water with his hands and laughed. "No Luke. No splashing." I said. I reached over and grabbed the soap and a towel from the bag. I took a cup from the drying rack and filled it halfway with water. I poured it on his tiny blonde curls. I then took the soap and put some on my hands. I rubbed my hand together then washed her hair. I filled the cup and put me hand over his sea green eyes. I poured the water washing out all the soap. I grabbed a washcloth and dipped it in the soapy water and poured soap on it. I continues to was Luke's little body. I grabbed the towel and laid it across my chest. I picked up Luke and brought him to my chest, wrapping the towel around him.
"You're all clean now! Doesn't it feel nice?" I whispered. I grabbed the diaper bag and brought it to the living room. I laid Luke on the hard wood floor carefully and unwrapped the towel. He was shivering so I looked in the bag for his clothes. I found a onesie that had the feet cut off. The onesie was thin and a cream color and had long sleeves and legs. There was writing on the front that said, 'Daddy's little man.' Sally got it for us when Luke was born. I put a clean diaper on him then slipped the sleeper on. I picked up my baby and kissed his head.
"I love you, Lukey." I sat on the couch with Luke in my arms, cradling him. In a couple minutes he was sound asleep. I chuckled. "Just like your father." I muttered. I reached for the remote and looked through Netflix. I clicked on a 'Glee'. and picked the episode I left off on. I rested my feet on the table in front of the couch and leaned back. I adjusted Luke so he was laying on my chest with my arms under his butt, holding him up. His face was turned away from me as he slept. I watched two more episodes when I heard two sets of feet running down the stairs. Then the twins ran in the living room bickering. After about two minutes of watching them Bobby, the shorter twin, said something funny. I laughed and they turned their heads and looked at me. Then they turned back at each other to start fighting again. Then they turned around and looked at me again. They stared a me for a minute until Matthew yelled,
"ANNIE!" Then Bobby smiled and ran over to his sister and hugged her, almost squishing Luke. Then Matthew came over and joined the hug.
"Careful." I said as they pulled away. Bobby looked around, confused.
"Where's Percy? He's my main man!" Bobby shouted. Luke stirred in my arms. I rubbed his back.
"Don't shout, Bobby." I scolded as Luke quickly fell back asleep. I continued rubbing his back.
"I'm right here." Percy said, walking into the room. Bobby ran forward and hugged Percy. My husband hugged back. "Hey Bobby, how's it going?"
"Good! I got on the swim team!" He explained loudly.
"Bobby, not so loud." I said.
"Really? That's great!" Percy said as he gave Bobby a high five. Matthew came and sat next to me.
"How old are you and Percy?" Bobby asked me.
"19. How old are you and Bobby?" I asked.
"12. 6th grade. You're in college?" He asked. I nodded. "Wow! Bobby, Annabeth's in college!" Bobby faced us.
"Cool! So is Percy. He wants to be a Marine Biologist!" Bobbys said as if it's the coolest thing in the world. "What do you want to be, Annie?"
"An architect." I said proudly.
"What's that?" Bobby asked as his twin rolled his eyes at his brother.
"It's a person who designs building and houses." I explained.
"That's cool!" Bobby shouted. I glared at my brother as Luke let out a little whine. I rubbed his back.
"Shhh." I whispered in Luke's ear. He fell back asleep. Bobby and Matthew's eyes widened.
"You have a kid?!" Matthew asked, a smile making way on to his face.
"Yup. He's about 5 and a half months." I said as I kissed Luke's head.
"What's his name?" Bobby asked.
"Lukas Charles but most people call him Luke. Some kids at camp call him Charlie, though." I explained.
"Can I hold him?" Matthew asked.
"Yeah, of course." Percy said as I nodded. Matthew held out his arms in a cradling position and I laid Luke in them.
"How'd you know how to hold a baby?" I asked.
"Aunt Teresa had a baby about eight months ago." Matthew said. He smiled down at Luke and kissed his nose. I smiled at them then my smile fell.
"Wait. Aunt Teresa? That's dad's brothers wife, right?" I asked them confused.
"Yeah." Bobby said.
"She had a baby?" I asked.
"Yeah. Baby boy named Kade." Matthew said.
"How come I didn't hear of this?" Aunt Teresa (28 years old and married at 26 ) had always been kind to me and told me almost anything. Until I was 17 she stopped talking to me.
"I don't know. I thought you already knew. You were always Aunt Teresa's favorite." Bobby said as he sat in front of his brother and Nephew. I leaned back against the couch and ran my hand over my braid. "Can I hold him now?"
"Yeah." I took Luke from Matthew. "Matt scoot down." He scooted to the end of the couch and Bobby sat next to him. Percy came over and sat between my legs on the floor. I handed Bobby Luke.
"Hey, Buddy!" Bobby whispered. I smiled and ran my hand through Percy's raven black hair. Luke opened his eyes and smiled at Bobby. "Wow, he has Percy's eyes!"
"He likes you." I said. Hearing my name the baby looked at me and smiled. "Hi, baby!" Luke reached out his arms for me and Bobby handed him over. I sat Luke down on my lap holding him. My right hand on the small of his back and my left on the nape of his neck. Luke reached up and tugged on my braid. Percy laughed.
"Lukey, what have we said about pulling Mommy's hair?" Percy said. Luke tugged it again.
"Luke... I'm going to have to tickle or kiss you now." I said. I laid Luke down on the couch and started tickling him. He squealed and giggled.
Frederick's POV:
I woke up and walked down the stairs. I walked into the living room where I heard a bunch of voices. What I saw made me smile. My three children where sitting on the couch talking nd laughing. Bobby was talking with Percy who was sitting in between Annabeth's legs on the ground. Matthew was laughing at Annabeth as she tickled her son. And Luke was laughing when his mom tickled him. I chuckled and Percy turned around.
Percy POV:
I heard a chuckle and turned around. I saw Frederick standing by the french glass doors that close off the living room and kitchen. "Morning." I said.
"Morning Percy." He said. He walked into the living room and opened the curtains. Then bright son seeped in through the windows, brightening the room. "Morning kids."
"Morning Dad." Bobby and Matthew said. Annabeth as still tickling Luke's stomach. I nudged her leg. She looked up and took Luke into her arms.
"Morning Dad." She said. She turned Luke around so her arms were wrapped around his stomach and his back pressed against her stomach. I yawned and leaned back. I felt a little foot kick between my shoulders. I turned around and playfully glared at Luke.
"Lukey. Don't kick daddy." I said. I then unwrapped my wife's arms and took Luke. I lifted him in front of my face then gave him a big kiss on the cheek. I pulled away and he was smiling his gummy smile. I smiled back then kissed his little nose. Annabeth stood up.
"I'm going to the bathroom." She said then walked out of the room. I laid out Luke's blanket and laid him down. I handed him his rattle and he shook it. then Helen walked in.
"What's all the ruckus?" She said sternly. She then saw Luke shaking his rattle. "Oh. Can you take that away? It's giving me a headache."
"Uh...sure" I said. I took his rattle and gave him his stuffed fish of Nemo. He started crying very loudly after I put away his rattle. Annabeth ran with super speed into the room.
"Luke!" She yelled. She ran over to Luke and picked him up and bounced him. Once he calmed down she hugged him tight and kissed the top of his head. She looked at me, "What happened?"
"His rattle was giving him a headache so I asked Percy to take it away." Helen said. Annabeth turned around and glared at her stepmom.
"It's not all about you, you know." She said sternly. Helen glared back.
"It was causing problems." Helen said.
"You were the only person bothered by it. And I don't-" Annabeth started.
"I really don't care what you have to say, Annabeth. I'm starting breakfast. Come on boys, I don't want you near her right now" Helen said, walking out of the room. Frederick followed his wife saying, "I'll try to calm her down." Annabeth sat down next to me when the twins left the room.
"Sorry went into protective mom mode." She said. I stood up and she did soon after.
"It's all good, Wise Girl. Let's get dressed." I said.
Annabeth's POV:
"Let's get dressed." Percy said. I nodded and walked to the kitchen. Helen was cooking eggs, my dad was reading a newspaper while drinking coffee, Bobby was doing something on his phone, and Matthew was sitting there looking bored. I walked over to him and tapped his shoulder. He turned around.
"Can you hold him for a bit?" I asked.
"Yeah." He took Luke out of my arms. I thanked him and walked up the stairs. I opened the door and saw Percy putting his shirt on. He was wearing blue basketball shorts and a white long sleeve NYU shirt. The sleeves got tight at the wrists.
"What's the temp? The party's going to be mostly outside." I asked. Percy checked his phone.
"50 degrees." He said. I nodded and walked over to my suitcase. I took out my Nike leggings and a grey T-shirt. I then walked to the bathroom to take a shower.
LINE BREAK---
After my shower I got dressed and walked downstairs. I walked to the kitchen where everyone was eating. Percy was sitting down holding a sleeping Luke while eating. I walked over and took Luke out of his arms. I held him the same way I did when we got on and off the plane. I walked over to the counter and grabbed a plate. I put two pancakes and two sausages on my plate. I walked over to the table and sat next to Percy. "Sorry, I started eating without you." He said.
"It's fine." I said as I put a piece of pancake in my mouth.
I was almost done with my breakfast when I smelled something and Luke let out a cry. "Percy, he's dirty. Can you change him?" I asked. Percy nodded. He took Luke and walked upstairs. My dad looked at me.
"You did good, Annabeth." He said.
"Thanks. For what, exactly?" I laughed.
"For choosing Percy as your husband." He said. I smiled.
"Yeah. I know. He's great." I got up and put my dishes in the sink. "When are people coming over?"
"Around 12:30" My dad said. I nodded and looked at the stove's clock. '11:45' Percy walked back downstairs without Luke. I was about to ask where he was when Percy told me.
"Sleeping. I wouldn't let anyone hurt or take him, Annabeth." He said. I sighed.
"I know." Percy and I walked into the living room. I laid on the couch with my head in my husbands lap.
"See, Helen hates me." I said. Percy ran his fingers through my hair.
"I know but everyone else loves you." He said. He leaned down and kissed my lips. I kissed back.
"I love you." I said as we pulled away.
"I love you too." He said.
LINE BREAK---
People would be arriving in about five minutes. I must have been shaking pretty bad because Percy grabbed my hand and kissed it, telling me it was going to be okay. I took a deep breath.
"I'll be right back." I said. I ran up the stairs and opened my bedroom door. I stepped in and checked on Luke. He was still sleeping peacefully, his tiny hands in fists, chest rising up and down, pacifier moving as he sucked. I smiled and walked out the door, closing it, and walked down the stairs. I sat next to Percy on the couch. My dad was cleaning the french doors, Helen preparing food, and the twins were cleaning their room. I asked if they needed help but they all said no. The doorbell rung.
"Annabeth, can you get that?" My dad asked.
"Yes." Is all I said. I shakily got off the couch and made my way to the door, Percy following. I opened the door to see Helen's parents looking at me.
"Hello, dear. Who are you?" The older woman who looks to be in her mid 60's asked. They've only seen me when I was three and five.
"Uh. Annabeth. Frederick's daughter." I said. Their eyes widened.
"Oh! A-annabeth! Goodness you've grown."
"Yeah. I'm 19. Come in." I told them opening the door wider and stepping aside. So far so good.
"I haven't seen you since you were five!" The man said. He looked about 70.
"Uh, yeah. What are your names?"
"Maya and Josh. Who is this young man?" Maya said. I smiled.
"That's Percy. My husband." I said. Their eyes widened.
"Oh! Was not expecting that. Well uh, hello Percy. We're gonna go see the boys." Maya said awkwardly. Then they walked away. I sighed.
"Hey, Dad!" I called.
"Yes?" He called back.
"Do you just want me to open the door for everyone?" I asked.
"That would be great!" He said. The doorbell rung again. I opened the door to see Helen's sister, brother-in-law, and niece.
"Hi Loren, Mark, and Sophia." I said. They looked up at her. Sophia hid behind her dad.
"Hello, Annabeth." They said. Then they walked away. I shut the door and turned towards my husband.
"What did I tell ya?" I asked. The doorbell rung again. I opened it.
"Annabeth, Darling!" My grandma said.
"Grandma!" I hugged her. "How are you?"
"I'm doing well, thank you. I haven't seen you since you wedding day." My grandma said. "Oh! Hello, Percy!"
"Hi, Margaret. Wonderful to see you." He said giving her a hug.
"Well come on in." I said. I helped my grandma wheel in my grandpa. I kneeled in front of him. "Hey gramps."
"Hello, Annabeth." He said.
"How are you?" I asked.
"Well not being able to walk sucks but other wise I'm great." He said. He stuck his hand out at Percy. "Percy, my boy, how are you?"
"I'm wonderful, thank you." Percy said as he shook my grandpa's hand. They wheeled and walked away. Doorbell rung again. I looked to see Helen's brother and his wife with their 15 year old son.
"Hello, Welco-" They walked right passed me. "Okay, then." Percy wrapped an arm around my waist. Opened the door when I heard the doorbell. Helen's aunt was standing there.
"Hi Annabeth." Then she walked inside the house quickly. The doorbell rung again. Annabeth scowled.
"Percy go write a 'please knock' sign. The doorbell's gonna wake up Luke." I said. Percy nodded and walked away. I opened the door. There was standing Helen's cousin and her daughter. Her daughter was 18 and wore short shorts and crop tops. Her name was Kiara. We did NOT get along. We glared at each other. Then Kiara and her mom walked inside the house out from my sight. When I lived here when I was 14 they came to visit. Kiara always told me I'd die alone and no one would ever love me. She told me how ugly I was. She's always call me Uglybeth and Lonelybeth. Percy came back and put a 'please just come in' sign on the door then shut it.
"Good idea." I said. We walked to the kitchen and I heard Helen's brother and sister talking to Helen.
"What's she doing here?"
"She'll put our children in danger!" They said. Helen sighed.
"I don't want her here either but he is Fred's daughter and it is a family reunion. We'll just have to deal with it. Her husband's here too."
"Oh we don't care about Percy. Just her." Then I stopped listening. I grabbed Percy's hand and walked to the living room. I sat on the couch with my legs over Percy's and sighed. The house filled up quickly. The only family who I couldn't find was my Aunt Teresa. Then I heard my name being called.
"Annabeth?" A boy said. I turned her head and groaned.
"Hey, Liam." he turned to Percy and whispered, "Airport kissing dude." Percy laughed.
"What are you doing here?" He asked. "Your not a Chase or whatever Helen's family is called." Liam said walking over to them.
"Yeah but I was. And Helen's last name was Davis." (IDK just roll with me)
"Uh so who are you related to?" He asked.
"Frederick Chase is my dad and Helen is my stepmonster, I mean stepmom." I said.
"Ew. I kissed my 3rd cousin. My mom is your dad's cousin." He said. I made a face.
"Ew." Then someone caught my eye. " Angela?!" The older woman turned around.
"Annabeth? Percy? What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Frederick Chase is my dad." I told her as I hugged her. She gasped.
"Your my great niece!" She exclaimed. I laughed. She walked away.
"That's actually quite funny." Percy laughed. I laughed with him. Then the loudest cry I've ever heard erupted from up stairs. Everyone froze. Percy and I jumped up. It was Luke's.
"Luke!" I yelled. Then we bolted up the stares.
okay there will be another chapter.
