Andrew Scott

Andrew Scott was an interesting sixteen year old boy. He wasn't very into sports but he wasn't a huge nerd either hence he didn't do very well in school but he liked to read. He also wasn't very social. Didn't have many friends. He was more of the silent and brooding type. Like one of those kids you see in the hallways, lurking or watching. But Andrew wasn't creepy either.

No one at his boarding school in Manhattan really found interest in him.

He did have one friend though. Her name was Annabeth Chase. Earlier in the year she had seen him sitting alone at lunch and since she was new incoming sophomore -( she wasn't there during freshman year like Andrew was.) -she decided to sit across from him.

They immediately hit it off when he mentioned a book he had been reading. Apparently, that was one of Annabeth's favorites too. Andrew wasn't sure if she was telling the truth or lying to make him feel better but he didn't really care.

The only downside to being friends with Annabeth was that she was never available to hangout over the weekend. She never told him where she was going though, just that she was busy.

Andrew really wanted to hang out with her. He didn't know what they would do or talk about because they really only talked about school or books. Maybe they could go to the library and just read?

Maybe, he had the tiniest crush on her. Okay, who wouldn't? Annabeth was beautiful! Her golden curls glowed in the sunlight and her sharp grey eyes bore into your soul whenever you upset her. Andrew found her highly attractive.

And why did the school uniform make her even more attractive? No one, no girl in their school could make the plaid skirt and white button up shirt look good. But Annabeth did. The skirt revealed her long tan legs that went on for miles or how she unbuttoned the first couple of the buttons on her shirt and loosened her tie. Andrew tried very hard not to stare because he didn't want to come off as a creeper.

Anyway, today was Friday and Andrew was determined to hang out with Annabeth this weekend. He wasn't going to straight out ask her, no, he had a plan.

After school, he saw Annabeth heading out of her room and ran to catch up. "Hey! Annabeth!" She turned around and grinned. "I'm failing math." Of course he really wasn't. He had a solid B in that class.

Her eyebrows scrunched together, perplexed. "You are?"

Andrew nodded. "Yes, and I was hoping that you could help me understand the lesson we learned today?"

Annabeth pursed her lips and readjusted her backpack strap. "I guess. You can come over today and I'll help you." She turned around and called for a taxi.

"Thank you so much," Andrew said as they slipped inside the taxi, silently praising himself for his brilliant idea.

After paying the taxi driver, Andrew and Annabeth headed up the stairs to someone's apartment. Annabeth didn't tell him who she stayed with on weekends. Maybe her parents? An older sibling? A cousin?

Annabeth took a key out of her backpack and unlocked the door to room 232. She pushed the door open and stepped inside, taking off her worn out grey converse that had a faded heart written on the white part. "Sally, I'm home!"

Was Sally her aunt? Andrew really wanted answers.

A woman maybe in her upper thirties came out of the kitchen wearing an apron that was stained blue in spots. "Annabeth! I thought you weren't coming this weekend?" She enveloped Annabeth in a hug and waved at Andrew while doing so. He awkwardly waved back.

"Hannah cancelled so I decided to come." Annabeth shrugged. "Besides, I miss him."

Who was 'him'? Andrew felt something stir inside him.

Sally smiled warmly and gestured for them to come further into the house. "I made cookies. Fresh out of the oven." She lead them into the kitchen and sat them down at the table in front of a plate full of...blue cookies? "Dig in!"

"This is Andrew, by the way," Annabeth introduced with a mouthful of cookie. "He's a friend from school and needs help understanding the math lesson we were taught today."

"I hope you like my cookies, Andrew," Sally joked. "My son prefers them blue."

Andrew nodded and took a bite out of one of the chocolate chip cookies. His eyes widened at how good they tasted. Blue cookies definitely hit different than regular cookies.

Andrew and Annabeth were walking into the living room to start their math homework when the door opened. Andrew gazed over and saw a boy around their age enter, clad in black sweatpants and a blue AHS sweatshirt. Did he go to Goode?

He wasn't bad looking either with his black windswept hair and his sparkling sea green eyes. Andrew was a bit jealous, his brown hair and brown eyes dulled in comparison. Hopefully this boy was Annabeth's cousin.

"Mom, I'm home!" The boys landed on Annabeth who was turned away from him, rummaging through her backpack. "Annabeth!" He dropped his backpack and full on ran over, wrapping his arms around Annabeth's shoulders from behind. The force of the hug was so strong that they fell onto the couch.

Annabeth laughed and sat up, pushing the hair away from her face. "Missed you too, Percy."

So his name was Percy. That was even more impressive than Andrew. Something really started to burn in his stomach. Was it jealousy? Was he jealous that Annabeth seemed to take a liking in this Percy kid? Probably.

Percy sat up and pushed some hair behind her ear, letting his hand linger by her jaw a little longer. "I missed you." Then he kissed her, cheeks a light shade of pink.

Andrew expected Annabeth to push away since she never mentioned a boyfriend or an interest in dating boys but she didn't. Instead, she kissed back. She set her right hand against his neck, her thumb brushing against his jaw while her other hand did the same thing on the other side.

A couple seconds later, they pulled away with a smile on their faces. "Seaweed Brain," Annabeth muttered. "We saw each other last weekend."

"I don't care." He kissed her cheek.

Andrew cleared his throat and the couple jumped away from each other. "Sorry," Annabeth said and sat back down on the floor, behind the coffee table, across from him. "Percy, this is Andrew. He's a friend from school and I'm helping him with something."

Percy nodded and squeezed Annabeth's shoulder affectionately before standing up. "Okay, I'll let you guys get to it." He grinned down at Annabeth and Andrew could see the pure love in his eyes. "I'll be doing my homework in my room." He grabbed his backpack before leaving the living room.

Once he was gone, Andrew spoke up. "Is he your boyfriend?"

"Yeah." Annabeth flipped open her notebook.

Andrew felt his heart crack a little. "How long have you guys been dating?"
"Uh..." Annabeth looked up at the ceiling in thought. "A little over two months"

There was still hope. High school relationships didn't usually last long. Two months seemed about the longest relationships at this age lasted. "Oh. Are you guys going to last?"

Annabeth looked up from her notebook. "What kind of question is that?"

"I-uh-I don't know." Andrew bit his lip. "Well?"

"I hope so." Annabeth smiled to herself. "I really like him."

Andrew nodded, keeping to himself that they probably wouldn't last much longer. But then again, Andrew saw the way Percy looked at Annabeth. The guy was head over heels for her and Andrew wished he was the one looking at Annabeth like that.

"Anyway, math." Andrew opened his notebook.

"Right." Annabeth nodded. "Okay, so..."

-----

"Thank you for helping me, Annabeth." Andrew smiled.

She waved him off, ignoring Percy calling her from the living room. He kept interrupting them, which Andrew found very rude. Percy kept asking for help on his homework but then gave up when his mom offered to help. Then, he wanted Annabeth to snuggle and watch a movie with him. Andrew wanted to yell at him so badly to leave them alone.

"Don't mention it." She shrugged.

Gaining up the only courage he had, Andrew surged forward and kissed Annabeth, setting his hands on her waist.

It lasted less than a second but the sparks that ignited in his stomach didn't go unnoticed. Annabeth pushed him away. "Get off of me!" She stared at him with wide eyes and Andrew didn't miss the hurt that flashed through them.

"I-I'm sorry, Annabeth," He apologized. "But I like you, okay?"

"I have a boyfriend, Andrew." Annabeth tried to shut the door but he stuck his foot inside, stopping it from closing.

"High school relationships normally don't last!" Now he was just desperate. Great. "Please just give me a chance!"

Annabeth laughed humorlessly. "Are we not in highschool? But Percy and I am? Is that what's going on here?" She pointed between them. "Because we are in high school and you just said those relationships don't last."

"Well Percy looks like a player," Andrew said. "And I would never hurt you."

"Percy is the last person who would ever hurt me." She tried to shut the door but he held it open. "Just give me a chance. Please."

"No. I'm sorry but no." Annabeth kicked his foot so she could shut the door. "And please, don't do that again. I have a boyfriend and I'm happy."

"But-" He was cut off by the door slamming in his face. "Okay... plan two."

And great, he had to walk home in the rain.

----

On the other side of the door, Annabeth sighed and leaned against it. How weird was that? Her friend had just kissed her. Why does almost every friend that she had that was a guy had to have a liking towards her? There were probably a couple guys at camp and a couple more at her school. Well, she knew there was a couple people at her school but Andrew? She never would have expected that.

"Annabeth?" Percy called from his spot on the couch in the living room. "Are you okay?"

Annabeth nodded and walked into the living room, grabbing her backpack. "Yeah."  He didn't believe her though, she could tell. She moved to walk out of the room when he asked where she was going. "Just changing, that's all."

After she changed out of her school clothes in exchange for some sweatpants and a sweatshirt, she strode back into the living room. Percy patted the space beside him and she flopped down, laying her head on his chest and her hand rested against his stomach.

His arm wrapped around her shoulders. "Are you okay?"

"He kissed me." Percy's hold tightened against her. "I thought that he would be a good friend to have. One that just wanted to be friends and didn't want to be anything else."

Percy kissed the top of her head. "You're not thinking of leaving me for him, are you?" Annabeth laughed and shook her head. "Thank the gods."

She snuggled deeper against him. "No, don't worry, Seaweed Brain."

"I'm not." Percy leaned his head against hers. "What are you going to do about Andrew?"

Annabeth shrugged and sat up. "I don't know. Let's not think about it right now." She smirked. "You're the only boy on my mind."

Percy blushed. "That's just fine with me."

Breathing out a laugh, she kissed him.

They wouldn't have to worry about Andrew. Annabeth already knew what her permanent something was and it wasn't Andrew. It was the black haired boy beside her. Percy may not have figured it out yet but Annabeth was head over heels for him too.

And that wasn't going to change.

I'll write a part 2 soon
