Where I'm From

For this one we had to make our own versions of George Ella Lyon's poem "Where I'm from".

I'm from grandma's house

From flour filled air and crys of "Happy Birthday"

I'm from the back yard filled with leaves

To the smell of trees out back

I'm from staying back to help with dishes

To we'll watch the kids for you

I'm from the softness of stuffed animals

To the slickness of fresh mud

I'm from all of the sleepovers with Mel

From the pullout couch

To my little pony movies

I'm from the house my uncle has lived in forever

I'm from clutching stuffed animals

To watching Netflix all day

I'm from going to Great grandma's house

To her room of creepy dolls

I'm from my family in all

I'm from time for church

To maybe next Sunday

I'm from I'll ride with grandma

To I need my sleep

I'm from all the days dad randomly announces things

To shooting at his friends houses

I'm from you can just trim it

To can you dye it red

I'm from "get out of the kitchen"

To putting cream on my burn

I'm from come in when the streetlights come on

To seeing bats fly in the sky

I'm from the summer

To Winter, Spring, and Fall

I'm from smiley face french fries

To the cousins eating ketchup with a spoon

I'm from the big house with the sand hill

To the house my uncle will always have

I'm from the house on Forrest street

I'm from the days spent and grandma's house

To the days on the couch

I'm from watching Naruto with my dad and brother

To watching it with Libby, Emmy, and Maddie

I'm from the park on sweet street

To the one calles Briggs

I'm from being one of the oldest grandchildren

To being one of the oldest

I'm from all night parties at Uncle Matt's

To going home at ten so his kids can sleep

I'm from doing little cousins nails

To them doing mine

I'm from being driven to school early

To walking even earlier
