2:FIVE

Vienna yawned as she stretched out her arms, the shadow fairy still tired after doing patrol from the previous evening. She made sure to rotate both arms, with emphasis on her dominant arm that she uses to throw knives.
“I’m glad we’re on target practice this morning,” Bex spoke with a large grin, clutching her bow to her chest as if it were her child.
“Tell me about it,” Adri added as she did up the straps of her gloves. “I used to love combat before but now it sucks.”
“Yeah,” Natia said with a pout as she grabbed her knives. “Like, first to draw blood? With how much practice we have in close combat we’ll be completely covered in scars by the time we graduate.”
“Oh, by the way, guys,” Vienna cut off. “Did you guys hear about that student?”
The other three girls looked at each other in confusion.
“What student?” Bex questioned as she moved to hold her bow by her side.
“I think he was missing for a while? Devin I think his name is. Anyway, he stumbled into the main building covered in blood, and the only thing he said was ‘Rosalind’”
“Well, that’s not suspicious at all,” Adri muttered under her breath.
“Yeah..” Vienna trailed, eyes falling on Andreas in the distance. “And I bet she’s not alone in the matter.” The fairy pulled back her arm temporarily, before precisely launching her knife at the target in front of her. Unsurprisingly, it was a bullseye.
“Damn, girl, do you mind sharing your boyfriend with me?” Natia jokingly questioned.
“Huh?”
Vienna looked past the target, only to find Sky training with Riven. Without a shirt.
“Hey, eyes off,” Vienna jokingly warned as she planted two hands on Natia’s head and turned her away from the sight. Of course, Vienna was not going to miss a single second of watching her hot boyfriend beat up her enemy. An enemy that wasn't Bloom, Rosalind, or Andreas.
“Please,” Bex began, staring at Natia with raised brows. “Why do you need Vienna’s lame boyfriend? I’m a better boyfriend than him.” She crossed her arms in a huff, to which Nat pouted.
“Nooo, you’re the only one I neeed,” she cooed as she threw her arms around her, trying to appease her sulky partner, her lips planting several kisses on Bex’s cheek.
Vienna couldn’t help but snort at their antics. She pulled out her phone as she heard a stream of text notifications come in, and noticed that it was Terra texting her.
“Hi Vie, can you call me when you’re free.”
“Or come by the dorm.”
“Calling is probably better right?”
“Whatever’s easier for you of course.”
“Sorry for the spam.”
After finishing up her morning training, Vienna waved off her suitemates, before making her way to the fairy dorms.
“Hey guys,” Vienna greeted as Terra let her into the suite, noting that Stella and Bloom were the only other fairies present in the shared space. “What’s up? It seemed kinda urgent.”
“Well, Bloom managed to not so secretly snoop in Rosalind’s office,” Stella revealed.
“Okay? And what did you discover?” Vienna questioned as she turned to Bloom, who fidgeted under the shadow fairy’s strong gaze.
“Uh-”
“She found this book that Rosalind was keeping in her desk,” Terra cut off, almost as if she could sense the tension. “We think it might be some kind clue as to what she’s up to but it’s in a different language. According to Silva, it’s one of those dead ancient languages.”
“Sebastian is trying to translate it right now, but he’ll be able to do it quicker if he has the translation guide.”
Vienna slowly nodded as she followed along. “Okay, that’s good news. I’m still failing to see why you need me.”
“Oh, yeah, Silva said there’s a copy of the book in your house. So we need you to get it. Pretty please?” Terra pleaded.
The shadow fairy sighed. What mess was she gonna find herself in next? She side-eyed Bloom before turning to Terra and nodding. “Okay, I’ll get it. I can’t guarantee it’ll be today though. I need to figure out how to get there since it isn’t exactly close.”
🗡 🗡 🗡
Vienna covered her face with her textbook before letting out a groan. Why couldn't her life just be simple. She partially lifted her textbook when she heard Sky chuckling from beside her.
“What's wrong?” he questioned as he reached out to move her hair out of her face. “You've signed like ten times and it looks like you're gonna start hitting yourself with that book next.”
“Sorry,” she apologised as she rested her hand against his, leaning into his touch.” I’m probably not being a very good study date right now, am I?”
“You're fine, love,” he assured as he cupped her cheek, temporarily leaning down to peck her on the lips. “Tell me, what's up?”
“It's a long story, but I need to sneak off to my house to get some random book.”
Sky raised his brow. “Okay? What's the issue?”
“The issue is I don't know how to get there. It's way too far for me to shadow travel and I don't know how to drive either. Not to mention I gotta keep a low profile ”
“Hmm,” Sky ponders, “Have you tried asking your amazing boyfriend?”
“Please, what's he gonna do?” Vie questioned as she looked up at him.
The blonde simply stared at her.
“Okay, amazing boyfriend of mine,” Vienna spoke as she sat up, her hand still holding onto her boyfriend’s hand. “Whatever can we do about this conundrum?”
“Glad you asked! If I hypothetically managed to get my hands on some keys for a car, I can hypothetically take you to your house and back before they realise you're gone.”
“Wait what?” she questioned as she straightened up. “You can drive? Since when?”
Sky shrugged. “Since Silva taught me.”
Vienna gaped her mouth, causing Sky to let out a laugh. “That traitor! I cannot believe this. What the hell.”
“Well, I heard it's cause someone almost crashed his brand new car into a tree.”
“Okay, first of all, how do you know about that? And second of all, I did not almost crash his car, he's just dramatic.”
She pouted as she laid her head against Sky's shoulder, her forgotten textbook tossed somewhere on the picnic blanket they were sitting on. “Anyway,” she began, her hand playing with Sky's hand. “I can get my Dad's car keys if they're still in his office. We can probably go later this afternoon.”
“When did I say I'd take you?”
Vienna pulled back with her jaw dropped. “What the hell, you just said you would.”
“Hmmm, I said hypothetically.”
The girl took in a deep breath. “Lord give me strength.
Sky burst out laughing as he wrapped his arms around the girl. “I’m just kidding, darling, of course I'll take you.”
“You're lucky I love you,” Vienna said with a huff, a smile threatening to break out on her face.
“Yeah?” The boy questioned with a raised brow. “How much do you love me?”
“Wellll,” she trailed off as she leaned dangerously close to his face, their noses ever so slightly touching. “Maybe this much?”
As Sky's eyes closed in anticipation, Vienna pulled away abruptly with a laugh, quickly grabbing her book before darting away.
She turned around to see Sky with his arms in the air, causing a large grin to appear on her face. He deserved it.

the only thing i like about this chapter is vienna's disdain towards bloom.
I really didn't think that people were still interested in this fic but the last chapter got over 500 reads in less than a week 🥹 that alone has given me some more motivation to write.
