Vienna jolted awake to something crashing on the floor, her hand automatically moving to the knife on her bedside table as she sat up in shock.

She let out a sigh of relief as her eyes fell on a sheepish looking Adrianne, who was standing over several daggers which were strewn across the floor.

"Sorryyy," the girl apologised with a wince, and leaned down to pick up the daggers one by one.

"It's okay," Vie breathed out with a sigh, one hand running down her face to rub away the tiredness she felt.

"What are you doing up so early?" Vienna questioned as she moved her legs over the side of the bed, a hand moving to her mouth to stifle a yawn.

"I'm trying to decide which daggers to take to practice with me," Adri revealed, placing the blades in an organised manner on her table. "I'm hoping to get paired up with Riven so I can whoop his ass."

Vienna let out a chuckle at the statement. "I can't wait to see that happen. Maybe Nat and Bex should have a go as well."

Adri snorted as she sat down. "Hopefully that'll knock down his ego a couple pegs. Sorry again for waking you up."

"No it's fine," Vie brushed off as her eyes fell on the digital clock beside her bed. "I need to see my dad before the Fairy-Specialist training begins anyway."

"Which category do you fall into?" Adri questioned as she leant forward slightly, a confused expression on her face.

"I guess both?" Vie responded as she stood up and grabbed her toiletries. "I feel more confident as a specialist in terms of combat, but I'll probably train as both."

The girl let out another yawn as she left the room to go to the bathroom, and found Bex sitting on the floor with her back against the sofa, her head bobbing as she listened to what Vienna assumed was music through her headphones.

"Natia, what are you doing?" Vienna questioned, eyeing the girl who was sprawled across the sofa upside down, her legs thrown over the back of the sofa.

"Shhhh, you're interrupting my relaxing, yoga vibes,"

"Oookay," the raven-haired girl responded, before quickly moving into the bathroom as she let out a small laugh at the girl.

🗡🗡🗡

"Good morning, Dad. How's-"

Vienna stopped short as she walked into her father's office, finding the man hunched over with his face in his hands as he sighed aggressively.

"Okay, spill. What's wrong."

Silva looked up from where he was sitting on the sofa, and plastered a smile on his face. "Everything's fine." The younger Silva raised a brow and leant against the doorway, her arms moving to cross themselves in front of her. "I may be a little stressed."

"Geez, I never would have noticed," the girl said as she closed the door behind her, and moved to sit next to her father. "What's wrong? Is this about Beatrix? Or is this about the thing with Bloom?"

"Uh, both?" He took a deep breath as he ran both hands down his face. "What do you know about Aster Dell?"

The girl threaded her brows together slightly. "I've never heard of it."

"Sixteen years ago," he began as he fiddled with his fingers, his eyes cast down as he spoke. "The threat of the Burned Ones was significantly high. Rosalind, the headmistress at the time, led a small group of us to track and kill them. Me, Farah, Ben, and Sky's father, Andreas." He paused momentarily, as if he was trying to find the courage to continue. "Around the start of winter, we managed to track the final of the Burned Ones in a small village called Aster Dell."

Vienna listened intently as he spoke, her hand gently running down his back as she tried to comfort him.

"We were told that all the people there had been evacuated, so Farah, Rosalind and Ben went ahead of me and Andreas to combine their magic into one power surge, one that would destroy the Burned Ones in one fell swoop. But.. but I got word at the last minute that the people hadn't been evacuated. I told Andreas that we needed to stop the others, that they were about to accidentally slaughter hundreds of innocent lives. It turns out that Rosalind and Andreas knew the whole time, but they wanted to follow through with the plan anyway."

Silva choked up slightly, tears beginning to run down his face. "I didn't want to. I really didn't want to but I-" his breath hitched slightly, causing Vienna to immediately wrap her arms around him as she frowned. "I killed him, Vienna. I tried to tell him that we needed to stop the attack but- but he just wouldn't listen. He was my best friend, and he drew his sword at me so I wouldn't warn Farah and Ben." Vienna simply held him as slow tears continued to fall down his face.

"That's why you were constantly visiting Sky and feeling the need to train him like you trained me." Vienna realised as she pulled back slightly. "It was more than the fact he was your best friend's son. You felt guilty." Silva nodded slightly, his gaze still directed towards the floor.

"I was the one to take his father away from him. The least I could do was train him to be the great warrior his father once was."

The girl sighed softly. "Dad, the only thing you should be guilty of is not telling Sky the truth about his father. You tried to convince Andreas to do better and he forced your hand. If you didn't kill him, he would have killed you. Also, I know you're just trying to protect Sky, but he deserves to know what really happened."

The two of them sat in silence for a few moments, before Vienna spoke up again. "Wait, what actually does this story have to do with Beatrix and Bloom?"

"Oh erm. Well, after I told Ben and Farah what had happened, they were of course devastated by the events that had occurred. Eventually, we managed to trap Rosalind using strong magic and lots of warding. The false bookshelf in Farah's office leads to a small room, and that's where Rosalind is being kept. We think Beatrix-"

"Beatrix is trying to break her out," VIenna breathed out in realisation.

"Yeah," Silva nodded. "I told Sky to keep on eye on Bloom because we think Beatrix may be trying to manipulate her into helping Rosalind escape."

"If it'll make you feel better, I'll keep an eye on her too," Vienna volunteered. "Becoming friends won't work, you know, considering how much she seems to hate you, so she probably hates me by association. I'll just blend into the shadows to see what I can find."

Silva nodded as he turned to her. "Thank you, sweetheart." He reached down to plant a small kiss to her temple. "I love you so much."

"I love you too, Dad," she responded as she smiled at him softly, reaching her hand up to wipe away the remaining tears on his face. "Now, put on your scary mentor face so you can scare people into training."

The man let out a soft chuckle. "Aye aye captain. See you on the field."

not thoroughly edited, I'll do that tomorrow.

I think some people are still confused by how sky and vienna weren't close pre joining alfea. I changed the plot a little so that Sky grew up with his mother, and Silva would occasionally visit them to help them out a little. Vienna never crossed paths with Sky that often through their childhoods.

So yeah Silva helped Sky's mother out here and there to raise Sky but he wasnt as present in Sky's life as he is with Vienna ofc.

I hate Andreas I wanna just 🤛🤛🤛

A x
