Week Six. #7.
A Delayed Return
Dearest Antoine,
Have you heard?
I'm getting married,
It's quite absurd.
Mother and father,
They've forced me to marry.
And in a year,
They want a baby to carry.
My love, Adeline,
I miss you everyday.
I would come to see you,
But your miles away.
One day I promise,
I'll have enough money to see you.
I'll hold you in my arms again,
It will feel like deja vu.
Oh Antoine how I miss you!
Please come and stop the wedding.
My future is now controlled,
I'm entering a life I'll be dreading.
I invite you as a guest,
You must object to this marriage.
Run away with me my love,
Take me on your carriage.
Adeline, I'm working everyday,
Extra shifts, I'll see you once again.
For now, I'll communicate by mail,
Hear me with the stroke of my pen.
I love you Adeline,
Please wait for my return.
Without you I struggle,
My heart continues to burn.
---------
Antoine, have you read my letters?
I wrote to you but you never came.
Maybe it wasn't really love we had,
I was a fool, it's myself I blame.
I wish you well in the future,
Don't worry about my life ahead.
I'm ready to give up on our affair,
My hope for us are dead.
Adeline, I finally have enough!
I will see you once again my love.
Tomorrow we will will reunite,
My heart will flutter like a dove.
Have you read my letters?
For you have not responded.
But I promised I would come,
That's what we've always wanted.
----------
Dear Antoine, I am sorry for this,
I assumed you knew.
I wrote to you many times,
I thought my letters went through.
Dear Adeline, I am sorry for this,
But life just isn't for me.
I cannot live without you,
But I cannot have you sadly.
Promise you won't forget me.
