Week Seven. #26.

Title: Today's Girls

Brutalized, Sexualized, Sexism, Racism

For every ism there is girl crying on her pink sheets wondering

Wondering when her length of her skirt will no longer be punishment

That her breast won't be objects for sexualization

And her sexuality the only topic for conversation.

For every one shot of alcohol she takes

Won't be the sole testimony for her rape

Because somehow her only worth is found centered

And not on her workings of her brain.

The capacity to which she endures bears hardships

She cries in pain

Her womb tired of bleeding tears of subjugation

Lashes out in agony.

Feminism, Equality, Justice, Hope

Today's girls are tired of protesting

Protesting what her mother and grandmother said before

But it seems Mother Eve is forever cursed

Her future daughters lack freedom in their earth.

White girls, Black girls, Brown girls

Stand in house divided

Black and brown die unloved

Told be something they are not because we hold white as pure.

Change only comes in dim futures

Life's freedom bear fruit in womanhood

Tears of a mother baptizes the earth

Now new flowers to pick for future earth.

Today's girls are breaking molds

Molds that were used against them

Breaking the chains of past and future

Becoming one and same in a house unified in today's division.
