Chapter 6: Before you Go...

Last time on Penpal Buddies From Different Worlds:
"O-Oh yeah sorry, well your parents invited some guess over for dinner. She wanted to let you know to get ready for it," he said, clearing his throat, "and from the looks of it, you have already started."

~*~

"Well then, I'll get ready" I quickly state, shutting the door in his face. Running over to my closet, my mind starts turning, wondering about who our guests are for tonight.

I look around, wondering about what outfit I should wear. Sooner or later I decided on a simple (f/c) dress. But before I changed- I ran back into the bathroom. Grabbing a hairbrush and a blow drier, I quickly dry my (h/c) hair- trying not to get my hair frizzy.

(Style dress you will be wearing- any color you want)

"(Y/N) your parents and the guests are waiting for you."

"I'll be down in a couple of minutes!" I yell back, wishing that my hair can miraculously dry. After what felt like forever, I run out of my bedroom with my indoor formal shoes in my hands putting them on as I go along. I finally reach the stairs as I gasp for more air.

"Breathe" I murmur to myself as I mentally curse myself for running even though I have asthma. Yeah, that's right, I have asthma. One of a million things that make me imperfect. Out of nowhere, I heard an unfamiliar voice, drawing me out from my daze.

"Is young Miss. Taylor going to come down?"

I quickly straighten my posture- feeling a spurt of pain rush through me due to my aching lungs. Taking a shallow breath, I slowly descend towards the bottom of the stairs.

"Ah, that must be the young (Y/N) Taylor" I stopped for a moment to look around. Trying to find whose unfamiliar voice belonged to. My gaze finally falls upon an older man who is standing in front of my parents.

"Yes, that is our daughter Gabe" my mother responded who was holding onto my father's arm. My (e/c) eyes widen to the realization that the man standing by my parents was Adrien's father.

Gabriel Agreste

Without any hesitation, I glide down the stairs heading towards my parents. Hearing the echo of my shoes tapping against the granite floor.

"Hello, Mother and father," I say as I finally reach them. I stop walking and looked at Gabriel- trying to figure him out. From what I could tell, Adrian didn't look anything alike from his father. If anything he was the exact opposite.

"You must be Adrian's father, Gabriel Agreste" I smiled and bowed with my head down, "please to meet you, sir"

"Likewise"

I raise my head, and to my surprise, Gabriel was looking at me with a smile on his face. From what I remember, Adrien told me he was a cold person.

"Alright, shall we head to the sitting area?" My father asks, putting his hands on my shoulders. He squeezes his hands and then walks away towards the living room with my mother. I just stood there, trying to figure out what is going on.

"(Y/N)?" I turn my head towards the direction of the voice, "I am pleased to know that, out of anyone that Adrien could have had, that you are the one that was chosen."

"I'm glad too, he seems like a good person" I state looking into Gabriel's blue eyes. Like I said they looked nothing like Adrien's. They are different colors, Obviously, but in these man's eyes- lays something more than what he is telling. Knowing that brought chills down my spine

*~* Time Skip *~*

A warm breeze gently passes me, as I just stare at the stars in disbelief. It's been hours since Mr. Agreste showed up at the house and I just couldn't believe his reasoning on being here. He announced it during dinner, which to my understanding, I couldn't believe. He stated that he's been talking to my parents quite sometime now and they think now is the best time to go.

My phone rings in my hands, bringing me out of my thoughts. I quickly excepted the call without a second thought. It's not like I care right now either.

"This is (Y/N)"

"Oh good you picked up"

"Uh, who is this?" I lay down, feeling the tiles of the roof dig into my back.

"Ouch, you don't remember me" he laughs, "it's
Carter"

"Carter?" I paused for a second, "Who gave you my phone number?"

"You did. You gave me your phone number before you left school?"

I did?

"That sounds more like a question then an answer" I laughed.

"Hey, I was trying to remember- Give me a break"

There is a pause between us, it's like we can't find the words anymore. All we could do is soak up the silence.

I close my eyes and sigh. I could hear the maids going through my room- grabbing everything that I need for this trip. I wonder how long my parents have been talking about this.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"Huh? Yeah, I'll be fine"

"That isn't a yes"

"Well I will be fine"

"(Y/N)..." He whispers, "what's wrong?"

I stand up, making sure I don't fall off the roof. Here I feel like I'm on top of the world, seeing the city skyline in a distance.

"I'm leaving," I say, breaking the silence. I'm not sure if I should tell him.

"Wait, what?

"I'm leaving for Paris, France after school tomorrow"

"Oh..." silence fell between us again. More uncomfortable this time around.

"(Y/N)! Time to come down! Your parents want to talk to you" one of the Maids yelled.

"Alright, I'm coming down" I yelled towards the maid, before talking back to the phone.

"Hey, I-"

"I know, I know- you have to go" Carter interrupts, "I'll just see ya at school alright?"

"Yeah" I smiled, "I'll see ya at school"

"Alright" he paused for a couple of seconds, "Goodnight, (Y/N)"

"Goodnight, Carter" right before I was about to end the call, Carter spoke again. This time I could barely hear him, he was talking a mile per minute.

"What did you say?" I heard him sigh on the phone, before continuing.

"Before you go..."

*~* Time Skip *~*

"Come on (Y/N) smile a little more. We only need one or two more pictures left!"

"Yeah, just like Lexie said, 'smile a little more"

"Don't push it, Barlet" I scowled, crossing my arms across my chest, "Why am I here in the first place? I accepted because I thought that we were going to hang out before class, not skipping. I will rather be in class instead of being suck in the photography room filled with weirdos."

The photography room is used for many things in this school. But for most of the time, this room is used for the Yearbook Committee. And if you haven't guessed it already, all my friends are part of the Committee. Yep, that's right- Jasmine, Emily, Lexie, and even Carter work on the Yearbook.

Emily helps out by writing articles about a series of things that deal with Winston Idea community. Though most of her work is for fillers and backups if someone didn't publish their work on time. I guess that happens when you are also the Editor and Chief of the newspaper.

"Anyways," Jasmine chimes, "We are here because we need a picture of you for the school yearbook."

Jasmine is the one who plans on which designs- *cough* not surprising *cough* - to make anything appealing for the eye. It goes as far as making custom outfits for the ones that are getting their photos taken to updating the website of the Winston Idea Private School. I am now a victim of this never-ending cycle. Nothing new here.

"I can't get a break from work when I'm in school" I mumble.

"This is what happens when the students vote for you to be the school representative," Carter states, cleaning the lens from the camera, "Your face will be everywhere- yearbook, flyers, magazines, banners- you name it. Anything to promote the school for the public."

"Tell me something I don't know," I say as I walk closer to Carter, "It's not like your the one in front of the camera. All you do is just position the camera and click a button"

"And all you have to do is pose and look pretty," Carter replies, "you already have that, so just wait for me to do my magic."

"Well, your magic is taking too long" I whine poking him in the chest.

"It takes time to work my magic okay- Jeez you are so impatient today" Lexie, all of the sudden, starts laughing hard- and I mean hard like gasping for air hard.

"For one second Lexie, can you not think dirty?"

"How can I not?" Lexie tried gasping for air, "You guys sound like a married couple-" After that, I couldn't hear what she was saying. Her laughing, gasping and coughing covered up her words.

"Whatever, don't mind her Carter. She-"

"She isn't as annoying as you?" Carter asks with a playful smirk on his face. My (e/c) eyes narrow, throwing daggers towards his direction. If only looks can kill...

"Whatever..." I mumble, looking anywhere but him after staring at him for a while. I cross my left arm towards my right arm- holding my right bicep with my left hand while my right arm hangs down. My (e/c) eyes wander over to the right side of the room where a glass window stands in between us and a series of computers.

We are in 1 of the 3 rooms where students could take photographs without interrupting anyone. The rooms are quite big with a couple of monitors opposite of me that is connected to the camera and the lights. Once Carter takes a photo- for example- the photo is uploaded to the computer to be seen in a better light. That's when Em and Jasmine will adjust the lights or edit some minor things to the photo. Lexie here is the only one that doesn't have a job- but she is the one who booked the room since she is on the Student Council. Student Council gets first dibs on basically everything- which some don't understand including me.

All of a sudden, a flash of light blinds me, leaving me in a dazed state for a couple of seconds. After blinking a couple of times, my sight returns- with dots of colors interfering with my vision. I quickly tip my head over to the side to see the only man responsible.

"Carter!" I yelled, "I wasn't ready"

"Well, my magic was ready and I saw a great moment to capture," Carter smartly remarks, with a smirk, "Besides if I warned you, I wouldn't have been able to take the remarkable picture of you."

"He's right you know" my head turns over to Lexie who has a smile plastered on her face, "He's magic is quite remarkable." All of a sudden, Lexie starts laughing- again.

"Lexie, I wear that your mind is tainted with perverseness" I mumbled under my breath.

"Anyways," Jasmine cuts in, "I think that we all should head out for class. We got enough pictures to go through."

"Yeah, I'm probably going to go through them since I have this class now" Em states, not looking away from the Computer screen.

"Wait- What period is it?" I ask

"It's 4th period, why?" Jasmine states.

"Oh shoot!" I exclaimed, rushing over towards my (f/c) backpack.

"What's the hurry?"

"I have to go to Mrs. Sawyer's classroom for my last lesson today" I quickly put my (f/c) backpack on my shoulders and run over to the door, "I'll see you guys later!"

I opened the door and rushed out of the classroom into the halls. There isn't a lot of people in the hallway, so it was easy getting over to the language hallway. I quickly made my way over towards Mrs. Sawyer's door and whipped it open.

(Note- when speaking in a different language it will be shown as this for example: "French". English will be in normal quotes when anyone is talking in English. It would be easier for you readers to understand what characters will be saying instead of me translating everything afterward. I will also be making it clear what language you will be speaking during these events *hint for future*. Anyways let's continue this very long chapter)

"I'm sorry that I am late!" I exclaimed in French, "The yearbook staff wanted some pictures before I left."

"Not surprising," Mrs. Sawyer said, getting up from her desk while pushing some papers around, "However, next time don't barge in here like some wild animal."

"Sorry" I apologize breathlessly, grabbing a piece of my (h/c) hair and twirling it between my fingers. I take deep breaths to try to control my breathing, so I don't get an asthma attack.

"(Y/N) come here, let's start our last lesson before you head off."

"Alright" I walk over to her desk, dropping my (f/c) backpack on the ground before sitting down in one of the chairs.

"Let's begin" she states handing out some warm-up sentences, "I want you to fill out this paper as accurate you can. Just like last time, I will be timing you to see how long you can finish this sheet."

I grab out a pencil as Mrs. Sawyer grabs out her iPhone to time me. A minute or two passes and we are finally ready to start this timed warm-up.

"Ready, Set, Go!" She exclaims pressing her finger on her screen to start the timer
I quickly flip over the sheet and start filling out the answers for the questions. Every question, it gets harder and harder, but I still fill out the answers. Midway through, I pause as I start seeing the letters float on the page, turning into new sentences. My (e/c) eyes widen as I stared in shock- watching the letters finally settle down to something that I understand. French words that were there before now are replaced with English words. Without a moments notice, my body starts moving on its own. Writing the answers in their corresponding languages. In no time, I slam my pencil on the table.

"Time- two minutes and eleven seconds" Mrs. Sawyer states, grabbing my sheet of paper. She takes out her red correction marker and reads my answers. After a couple of minutes, she sets the paper down and stares at me questionably.

"Have you been studying ahead?" She asks.

"Uh, no I haven't. I have been studying the things that you have assigned to me... Is there something wrong?" I answer worryingly. Mrs. Sawyer sighs and pushes my warm-up sheet back to me.

"(Y/N), you answered everything correctly- the thing that shocks me is that most of these questions are many chapters away from what we are learning." She answers, "You are an excellent student so I decided to give you a bit of a challenge by using my advanced class questions into your warmup. Some of these vocabulary words that you have used, we haven't even learned them in class yet. But somehow you put them in the right context- even the grammar is used correctly."

"Wait?! You're telling me that we haven't learned that at all?" I ask in shock.

"Yes, right now we are in French 2A. What you just completed goes all the way up to French 4A. Not to mention that you did that in a little over two minutes. New stuff like that takes normal people at least five-ten minutes to finish."

"Normal people?"

"Miss Taylor you're a special case" Mrs. Sawyer honestly answers, "Let's see on how far you can go.

~Time Skip by World Languages~

"You amaze me (Y/N)!" Mrs. Sawyer exclaims, "You answered every question correctly and can speak fluently without no trouble. Tell me (Y/N) when did you figure out this gift of yours?"

"Well..." I paused, wondering if I should even tell her. After a couple of minutes of awkward silence, I finally gave in.

"It all started when I was kidnapped by an Akuma when I was at the New York Fashion Runway."

"By Prime Queen correct?" She asked.

"Yes," I sighed "Anyways, I somehow ended up in Paris being used as bait. She planned to use me to get Ladybug and Chat Noir attention so she can get what she wanted. Well, that didn't happen and I ended up being freed by the heroes. Then when I saw that girl trapped in that coffin. So I ran to her location- with fans chasing after me I may add- to help save her. When I got there, I helped out and saved the girl. Right before I got sent back by the Ladybugs I saw something."

"What did you see?"

"I saw the open scrolls that were on the wall. It wasn't just any scroll, it was filled with Egyptian symbols." I paused, looking at Mrs. Sawyer. "After this please don't think I'm crazy"

"Why would you think such a thing?"

"Cause, for a while I thought that I was crazy. That it was just a dream, but no it happened when I was taking the warmup"

"Just tell me already," Mrs. Sawyer replied impatiently, "I won't judge you, I promise" I sighed, took a deep breath, and looked away from her gaze.

"After a while of staring at it, the letters seemed to pop out of the paper creating a something that I could understand," I continued, "It changed from Symbols that I can't read into English sentences that I can read."

I force my (e/c) eyes back at Mrs. Sawyer to see her face with mixed emotions. Something that I experienced when I figured out that this happened to me, mixed feelings.

"I freaked out, hoping that that was a dream or that I imagined it there. So for a while, I ignored it- hoping that it didn't happen again. Well, sadly it happened again when I was doing French homework one night. The letters on the page popped out and rearranged themselves," I explained, "After that my body feels like it is being controlled- more like an instinct- by writing or verbally answering the question. I didn't have to think twice about it."

"I see... We should-

"Mrs.Sawyer?" The speaker announced scaring both of us.

"Yes!"

"If (Y/N) Taylor is in the room, please send her down so her ride can pick her up"

"I'll send her down!" Mrs. Sawyer replies turning towards me again, "Well, I'm sorry that I'm cutting things short, but you have a plane to catch."

"Alright," I quickly sit up and sling my backpack onto my shoulders, "anything else?"

"For now? No, but keep me updated on your gift of yours. Don't worry- I'll keep my mouth closed about it. It was obvious that you want to keep that on a down low."

"Thank you!" I go around the desk, pulling Mrs. Sawyer in a hug.

"It's no problem sweetie," Mrs. Sawyer hugs back, and we finally let go, "You know there is going to be a lot of people missing you in class~"

"Like Lexie?"

"No- Well yes, but no"

"Don't tell me you are referring to him~?"

"Yes him~" Mrs. Sawyer chuckles, "He can't take his eyes off of you."

"Nor his hands" I mumbled to myself.

"Well, I'll make sure Jonas is in check when you are away. Now run along- you don't want to miss your flight." I nod, running out of the classroom. There weren't too many students in the halls, but it was more than earlier since class got out 4 minutes ago.

I finally arrived near the front doors of the school, but I decided to take a short break. I take a long deep breath- feeling my lungs get heavy and sending a surge of pain through my body. I stood there breathing for maybe about two minutes, finally to be able to breathe semi normally. During the time I was having a mental argument with myself of 'Alright lets go' to 'Never mind- this isn't a good idea' thoughts. Pulling myself together, I force myself to walk towards the doors and pull open the door.

"Ready or not here I come"
