The shadows chase me,
Through the abysses,
Darkness and death,
Are my constant companion.
I feel your shadowy presence,
Whispering words of comfort,
The ghost of emotion,
Trailing behind me.
Sometimes I hear the
Rustle of your wings,
Feel them gently brushing
Against my pale cheeks.
When I try to grab you,
You evaporate in smoke,
My hands cut through air.
And it breaks me to know
That it isn't you,
It's a spirit, an apparition,
An aura and a mirage.
I scream and cry,
Into the unending void,
And I remember the moments
We spent together
Under the boughs
The touch of your hands,
The warm rush of desires,
Unending and immortal,
The flame of eternity,
Burnt in our eyes once.
Mystic powers you possessed,
In the Grove of Fairies.
The scintillating sparks,
The crystal wings.
The smile so pure,
The way you tossed your hair
And how I used to,
Observe you from afar,
Seeing your reflection,
In the lake of swans
You saw me once at hiding,
And you tried to realise
What I feel for you
At first affections were obscure,
Feelings unfelt at times,
But soon it changed,
Distances became familiarity,
And I got to see a love,
That defined my life.
It wasn't smooth,
Neither rough,
We fought and had clashes,
Ego issues and mood swings.
But you always,
Kissed me a sorry
And that kiss seems to be
Hanging always in the air,
Taking me, breaking me.
Suffocating me with its grip.
Tempting me to call on the devil,
To bring you back
Sacrifice my soul in return,
For your resurrection,
I won't surrender still.
Give me a cause to believe
That you're gone.
Your presence is felt,
I'm not all alone.
I'll traverse fearlessly,
The land of death.
To bring back my love.
I'll stay forever here with you,
The words you gave me,
Will transcend dimensions,
Life, births, time and space.
Uniting us into one,
Unfathomable entity.
Of love, magic and death.
Evanescent love,
Merciless wheels of fate,
Love goes on even in death,
I couldn't love you,
Any more than I do.
I just want to blend in
To your spirit, your darkness,
And let your presence engulf me
Moving to that perfect destiny
Even if it's elusive.

This poem is a free verse encompassing the genres of Romance, Fantasy and Paranormal into on blend. The lover is no more and yet the beloved feels his touch, his presence and the shadows. She was tempted by the devil to exchange her soul for his life but she refuses to believe he's gone because he's showing her the same love which she remembers when they were together. I know it's a bit complicated... But it was fun...
