Chapter 5

Leo,

I can't wait for our first meeting. I'll see you then, but I still hope we'll continue to send these short letters.

Your anxious pen pal,

Pisces

P.S. If you want to bring a friend along, feel free!

I threw the letter onto my desk as I opened my closet doors, ready to spend hours, searching for something to wear. I began debating with myself on whether or not to invite Aries or not. On the one hand, I wanted some alone time with Pisces to just chat and get to know each other, on the other, I needed some moral support. I sigh and pull my phone out, texting Aries:

Leo: Hey, you free in like 2 hours?

Aries: Nope, sorry bro, have fun on your date ;)

Leo: NOT A DATE

Aries: Surrreeee

Leo: stfu

I groaned and threw my phone onto the bed, heading back into the depths of my closet. After about an hour, I was able to find a nice white t-shirt, boring, but I put a jean jacket on over it. Realizing I would have to leave soon since the meeting spot was kind of far, I threw on my shoes and ran out the door. It was a little chilly, signifying the start of fall, but the sun was bright.

I parked my car quickly and easily, tapping my leg anxiously as I headed for the gazebo at the center of the park. I sat there for what seemed like centuries before a girl approached me. "L-leo?" she asked, her voice clearly nervous. "You must be Pisces," I flashed her a smile and held out my hand. Her face lit up, "It's so nice to finally meet you!" I felt a tingle in my hand as she shook it. I nodded back at her words. "This is nostalgic... almost like seeing an old friend," she hummed, taking a seat again. "Yeah..." I sat down next to her, making sure to leave a comfortable amount of space between us, "I know so much about you even though this is this first time I'm seeing and meeting you for real." I smiled at her again as she laughed lightly. "I'm glad this isn't awkward, I was so scared it was gonna be," she laughed again, tension clearly lifting from her shoulders. For the third time in those few minutes, I nodded, "It's nice, hopefully we can do this more...?" I said it more as a question. "Sounds nice," she looked me in the eyes and smiled. "Now, what do you say we have some fun?" I stood up, now that the greetings were over with I was looking for a good time. She gave me a confused look before her eyes lit up and she ran for the swing set while I tailed only a few feet behind.

She hopped onto a swing quickly, instead of sitting next to her I moved behind her and began pushing her on the swing. She jumped in surprise as I grabbed the chains of the swing and pulled her back far before releasing it. She laughed loudly and joyfully as she quickly picked up speed with my help.

At the end of our get together, I walked her to her car and watched as she left the park before retreating to my own car. I didn't leave the park immediately, I sat in my car, a natural smile on my face. Before I could do anything, my phone buzzed loudly.

???: This is Pisces! Wanted to make sure you could put my contact in :)

Leo: Thanks! I'm about to drive, we'll talk later

Pisces: (^.^)b

I put my phone on silent and threw it into one of the cupholders. I made the long drive back home, jamming out to music in my car the whole way. When I entered my house, I threw my keys onto the kitchen counter before heading to the pantry. I grabbed a bag of chips and made my way into my room to eat them. Pulling out my laptop, I turned on Netflix and started watching The Office. I fell asleep to the sound of the show, not remembering much of what I watched.

I jolted awake, still sitting at my desk, and I check the time. Realizing I woke up late, considering it was Monday, I hopped up and quickly brushed my teeth and got dressed. I ran out the door and to my car. As I approached the parking lot of the school I heard the bell ring and I cursed silently to myself. I ran inside crossing my fingers that my teacher would choose to show mercy on me today. As I reached the classroom I slowly slid into the room, hoping she wouldn't notice me, Aries was staring at me, obviously trying not to laugh. I sat down, thinking I was in the clear, but the teacher suddenly slammed a note onto my desk. "Detention. No ifs, ands, or buts," She said and as I opened my mouth to argue she gave me a look that very clearly told me I didn't want to do that. I gulped and chuckled lightly before Aries' laugh was finally released. The teacher grabbed another slip and placed it on Aries desk. "If you think detention is so funny, you can have one too." Aries gaped at the teacher, but silenced his laughter, not wanting to make her even angrier. I stuck my tongue out at him, smirking and he rolled his eyes at me. At least I wouldn't be suffering alone in detention.

School went by quickly, but that wasn't necessarily a good thing since I still had to go to detention. Aries and I were put on trash dude, luckily, that was one of the best options. We talked whenever teachers weren't looking as we walked back and forth between the school and the dumpster. "Dude, I hope we always get detention together," Aries laughed at my comment before whacking me with his trash bag. "Oh it's on!" I shouted. Before I could hit him, I heard a teacher clear his throat behind us and I grinned sheepishly before scurrying off to the dumpster.
