Oberyn Martell-Princess Of Dorne part one
Author note: Hello all! So I know I said I'd be taking a break and I will be, but maybe more just a part time one, as I wasn't really planning on doing much writing.
Unfortunately, for those of us that are writers, our brains tend lock up and don't always want to work when we'd like them to. And then, other times, our brains just start going and going and won't leave us in peace until we get out what we need to.
So I was just sitting there, thinking about stuff, not even writing and my brain starts going into hyper drive. So I'll be doing a possibly three part one shot for Oberyn Martell.
It might not be super long, but I'll see where I end up with this one and how long it ends up being.
Thanks again for the support and understanding. You guys are awesome!
.................
You've been forced into a marriage with Oberyn Martell. You know his reputation and are not pleased with this arrangement.
You can't stand him at first, but after learning more about him, you at least learn to respect and even care about him just a little.
Some strong language and mention of sex, although not much. And some mention of violence.
................
No. This can't be happening. You fight back the tears as you stand next to...him. He doesn't even acknowledge you and seems bored by the whole matter. As if you're nothing more than an inconvenience to him.
Once the damn priest finishes, he dares to take your hand as you slowly make your way out. You keep your head held high, although your face is flushed with shame and rage.
The moment you can, you tear your hand from his and announce in a harsh tone that you'll need a few moments alone before you'll rejoin him for the wedding banquet.
He merely nods, not even bothering to speak. Fury rises up within you as you turn away. You make your way down the long, dark and empty corridor. You make certain that you're alone before allowing the deep sorrow to consume you.
.................
You'd be glad of the fact that the day is nearly finished. Except for the matter of...having to share not only bed chambers with him, but also a...bed with him. It makes your skin crawl.
You loathe the idea of him...touching...you in any manner. You shiver as you wrap the blanket tightly around your slight frame, still fully dressed. You don't even know where he's at.
Perhaps luck will be on your side and he'll get so drunk on that expensive wine he'd made sure was to be served at the banquet and will pass out somewhere and you'll get the entire bed chamber all to yourself.
The heavy wooden door that leads to the bed chambers and...he...steps inside. Shit. You turn your head gaze into the flickering flames of the fire. You can't look at him without wanting to vomit.
He strides over to the bed, making no attempt to speak with you. You hear him beginning to undress and you can feel your stomach starting to churn. Oh God. You can't do this!
You begin to tremble and cry very softly. He'll...hurt you! He'll force you to make love to him, rather you want to or not. And if you refuse, he'll either lock you up in the dungeon or...kill...you.
He slowly walks over to where you're sitting and kneels down in front of you, surprising you by his...gentleness.
You dare to look at his face. He seems almost like a different man. More sensitive and...dare you think it, kind?
"Will you come to bed with me, my princess?" You tear your hand free from his and immediately stiffen with fear.
"You have my word, Y/N," Oberyn says quietly. Something stirs inside you. You don't know what, though.
"I shall not force myself on you. I just want my beautiful bride next to me this evening. Will you?"
You look into his eyes. You never realized how beautiful they were. You immediately chide yourself for even thinking about that. You remind yourself that you can't stand this horrible man.
"I'll sleep in the bed with you, Oberyn. As long that's all we'll be doing."
"That's all I'll expect from you." Oberyn rises from his kneeling position and moves to begin undressing himself.
He leaves his undergarments on and turns to you. You start to tremble again.
"May I have the honor of assisting my bride with her clothing?"
"Isn't that what the servants are for?" You snap. Oberyn's face takes on a wounded look.
"If you don't want me to assist you, I could call in a servant girl for you."
You silently curse yourself. You'd fully expected Oberyn to behave like an ass. And yet here he is, acting like a gentleman and an honorable man.
"You may assist me." Oberyn grins and you feel that shiver of fear once again. He comes to you and you reluctantly drop the blanket as Oberyn slowly unbuttons your dress with ease.
You're not all that surprised. As much as Oberyn engages in his, ahem, fun with others, he's probably undressed several women. Oberyn gently brushes his fingers across your back and you stiffen again.
Your dress drops to the floor and pools around your ankles. Oberyn slowly begins to unlace your corset and you really have start to tremble.
"I won't harm you, my beauty. Here is your dressing gown. Slip it on as soon as I've pulled your corset off."
You do as Oberyn says and then step over to the bed. Oberyn joins you. It feels so strange to be in a bed with someone you hardly know. You don't know if you'll even sleep this night.
"Thank you for allowing me to assist you this night, my princess. Good night. May I kiss you goodnight?"
You find yourself nodding and Oberyn gives a gentle kiss. You hold yourself very still. Oberyn moves, settling beside you, his back to you.
Within minutes, Oberyn is sound asleep. You roll over, your back to Oberyn's. Slowly, the tears consume you and the ache for your family and home is so strong that you're worried that you'll never be able to live in this awful place, with this awful man.
..................
You do sleep, although not well. You're sleepy all day and long to go lie back down and sleep forever. At least then, you could be away from everyone. Especially...Oberyn.
Although...he wasn't terrible last night. Just because he wasn't acting like a monster last night, you tell yourself. Doesn't mean he'll always act like that.
You wander aimlessly through the palace corridors, feeling lost and unwanted and lonely. A few tears escape from your eyes and you dash them away as you pass by several women, who cover their mouths with their hands and start whispering about you.
You pick up your pace and hurry out to the gardens, hoping to find some solitude from everyone and everything.
...............
Oberyn finds you, sitting under a tree out in the garden. He sits down beside you, but doesn't say a word. You don't speak to him, either.
Finally, Oberyn says something. You don't want to listen to him. You want to scream at him to let you go back home and never come here again.
"I know how unhappy you are here," Oberyn says quietly. "I know you didn't want this marriage. I didn't, either."
Oberyn gazes out into the distance and you can see the pain on his face.
"I have nothing against you personally, Y/N. This marriage was only for the good of our kingdoms."
"Yes, and I hate it!" You shout, standing to your feet and scowling at Oberyn.
"I hate all of this! And I hate you! I want to go back home and have nothing to do with you or any of this ever again!"
You take off at a fast pace, running straight to the palace. You're going to lock yourself in the bed chambers and never come out again.
