Chapter XXXV: Fields Of Gold

"Nolan, come on!" Kai hollered over his shoulder, racing ahead to catch up with Kylie.
"Don't go too far!" I called.
"We won't, Auntie Mira!" Kylie yelled.
"They've grown up so fast, haven't they, Mira?" Aubrey asked.
I laughed. "Oh, Aubrey. They've still got a long way to go."
"Mama!" Reed called, trotting up behind us. "Mama, could we join you?"
"Of course," I said. "Feel free, as long as whoever you're hunting with knows where you are."
"Wash, Reed and I are going off with the pups," Korea yelled back to him. "We'll see you back at camp?"
"Sure thing," he replied, crouching down.
I smiled, dropping back to talk to Reed as Korea took up conversation with Aubrey.
"So, how's the hunting been?" I asked as we emerged into a field.
"Good," Reed said, sitting down to watch as the pups played tag.
"What's on your mind, son?"
"Nothing," he muttered.
"Reed," I said sternly.
He rolled his eyes. "Fine. I'm worried about Ross."
"Why?" I asked.
"He hasn't made a move in weeks," Reed explained. "He's bound to do something soon."
"So, what do you suggest I do about it?" I questioned.
He shrugged. "You don't need to do anything, really. Just, be careful." His eyes glinted. "And you ought to keep a close eye on Kai and Nolan."
Is he planning to kill them, like Rose talked about?

Aubrey

"Alright, Kylie," I called. "Let's start heading back to camp, dear."
"Coming, Mama!" She said, hopping through the tall grass.
I smiled as she trotted along the trail beside me.
"Hey Lily!" Korea called, lurching past us to catch up with her friend. The two fell into step as they approached the camp entrance.
"'Evening, Fudge," Lily said with a nod.
"Good evening, Lily," he replied. "Your mother would like to speak with you."
"Okay."
"Mama!" Kylie said, nudging me.
"Yes, Ky?" I said, turning back to her.
"Can I share a hare with you?" Her eyes gleamed in the sunlight.
"Yes, dear, of course," I said.
"Hurry up, Mama!"
