Chapter XXXIV: Golden

"Mama!" I screamed. "Mama, where are you?!"
"Shh, dear," she murmured softly. "I'm right here."
"Mama!" I said, turning to find her beside me. "Mama, I'm scared."
"Don't be, darling," she soothed. "Everything will be fine. Miracle, why don't you sit with your sister, please?"
"Of course, Mama," I complied, scurrying over to Ava's side and settling down for the night.
"Good girl," she praised, turning back to watch the entrance of the cave. "I'm sure your father will be back with the others soon."
"What about Skyler and Mila and Thebes and Sadie?" I asked timidly.
"They'll be fine, dear," she said. "Now sleep."

I sat up, panting. I sighed in relief, laying back down. With a shake of my head, I cleared my mind and laid my head back on my paws.
"Mira?" Ember muttered.
"Mm?" I hummed.
"What's wrong?"
"I had that dream again," I whispered.
He sighed. "Just try to sleep."
"I know," I murmured.

"Father!" I squealed. "Father, you're back!"
"Good morning Miracle," he said with a yawn.
"Father!" Ava exclaimed, jumping up and racing across the den.
"Shh," Father said. "You'll wake everyone."
"Sorry, Father," she murmured. Suddenly she perked up. "Do you have any new stories for us, Father?"
"As a matter of fact, I do," he said, sitting down. "Now, once upon a time, many many years ago, there was a magnificent wolf..."

So, sorry there's not a lot in this chapter, but I'm doing a double update this week, so hopefully that will make up for it. ^^
So yeah, just a little more on Mira's backstory and her childhood.
