Chapter XVII: Double Trouble

Chapter XVII: Double Trouble

"Mama! Mama!"
"Ask your father." I turned away.
"But Mama!"
"I'm sleeping, dear. Ask your father."
"Fine."
I sighed as Korea padded away, putting a fore paw on top of my muzzle.
A few minutes later someone nudged me again.
"Korea, I told you to ask your father!" I murmured, rolling over to scold her. "Mother of-"
"Morning to you too," Kelebek said softly.
"What do you want?" I grumbled.
"Where's Tanisha?" She asked. "She promised to go hunting with me today."
"Ask somebody who's not me," I snarled, rolling over again. "I don't know and I don't care."
"Okay," she said, turning away.
I sighed as someone laid down beside me. I opened an eye to find Ember laying down next to me.
"Aren't you supposed to be watching Korea?" I asked sleepily.
"Yukon and Wash are playing with them," he mumbled.
"Okay," I whispered, sinking into his side as my eyes closed again.
After maybe an hour of peaceful sleep, two small life forms barreled into us.
"Mama! Papa!" Reed squealed.
"What in the moon's name do you need now?" Ember muttered.
Wash and Yukon trotted up, panting.
"They are fast," Yukon gasped.
"Why do you think I'm still sleeping?" I mumbled, tucking my nose under Ember's neck as he lifted his head.
"Mira, get up." Wash cuffed my ear.
"Ow," I whined, turning my head and burying it in between Ember and I.
"Get up," Wash repeated, pulling on my scruff.
"Fine," I hissed. I stood up, yawning as I stretched my forepaws in front of me.
"Mama, hurry up!" Korea called, zooming off with her brother close behind.
"Coming," I yawned, picking up a lope to catch up. Yukon had collapsed on the cave floor for some rest, but Wash ran along beside me.
"How," he panted. "Do you keep up with those two?"
I shrugged. "I just think about the hare I'll be rewarded with since Ember's hunting while I watch them."
"Oh," he muttered.
"Yeah."
