Chapter XLI: Shining

Tanisha

"Maria, Jericho!" I called. "Major, stop biting your father's tail and get over here."
As the three skidded to a halt in front of me, I smiled at them. "Now, you're getting to be bigger, and it's time you started learning to hunt."
"Really?!" Maria exclaimed breathlessly.
I nodded.
"Yay!" Major squealed.
Jericho blinked. "Okay."
"Now, show me your hunting crouches..."

Mira

"Reed!" I anxiously looked around. "Reed! Where's Reed?"
"Yes, Mama?" He asked, trotting up to me.
"Oh, thank the stars, you're okay." I sighed, relieved. "Where's your sister? And Kai and Nolan?"
"She's collecting herbs with Papa. And they're playing outside with Kylie, Aubrey's watching them." He frowned, confused. "What's wrong?"
"Oh, don't worry about it," I said, brushing it off. "Now, what're you doing?"
"I was going to go on a walk with Lily, but if you want me to go hunting with you I can," he offered.
"No, no, it's fine, I was going to go find your father anyway," I said.
"Alright. Well if you need anything, I'm sure Korea would be happy to help," Reed said before trotting off. Lily joined him at the entrance and they made their way out of camp.
I sighed, stretching my legs before exiting the clearing, picking up a lope as I crested the hill.
"Mira?" Ember asked, frowning as I walked up to him.
I sighed.
"Oh, hey Mama," Korea said, not looking up from what she was doing.
"Mira, what's wrong?" Ember murmured.
I scrunched my nose. "I had a nightmare."
"The one from before?" He asked.
"No, no, this was worse," I said, shuddering. "You and Korea and Reed and Kai and Nolan and the whole pack were killed."
"Come on, let's head back," he said. "Korea, would you mind bringing those back to camp when you're finished?"
"Sure," Korea said. "See ya."
Ember turned to head back to camp, and I followed. A few moments passed in silence.
"So who was it?" He asked abruptly.
"Father," I muttered, looking back at him. "My Father."
