Chapter VI: How Dare You?!

I growled, my hackles rising. "What did you say?"
"O-our mom," he stuttered.
"You do not share a mother with me, you little-"
"Now, Mira, calm down," Ember said. "What's the big deal anyway?"
"I have one brother, and only one," I snarled. "His name is Jay, not Tuff, damnit!"
Ember leaned back. "Geez."
"But- but my mom is your mom too," Tuff whispered.
I rolled my eyes. "I'd suggest you heed Frito's advice and buzz. Off."
Tuff whimpered, scampering away. I turned back to the forest angrily.
"Good grief, Mira, wasn't that a bit excessive?" Ember asked as we trotted through the trees. "I mean, what if he is your brother?"
"How dare you, Ember?!" I seethed.
He shrugged. "I'm just special like that."
I rolled my eyes, picking up speed. "Yeah, sure."
Ember galloped next to me, his tongue lolling. As we reached the edge of our territory, I took a sharp turn and ran along the border. Eventually we reached a cliff, and I slowed down, stopping near the edge and laying down. Ember eyed the rock warily.
"That's awfully close to the edge," he commented.
I closed my eyes. "Don't be a chicken, Ember. It isn't that bad."
I heard him shuffle forward and sit next to me.
"There you go." I smiled.
