•Ch.7•
AS THE MONTH WENT BY Lillian had excelled in her classes, she was very clever as seen through the teachers. She was just as intelligent as Hermione and both of them were the star pupils of the first years.
She was also growing closer to her brother as they both bonded and talked over the past few weeks. Feeling as if they had known each other their whole life, and making sure to stick together.
Even in her Hufflepuff house, many of students agreed that Lillian had one of the biggest hearts in the house. Cedric and Hannah could see how she didn't care which house you were in and nevertheless still helped people, whether it be homework, getting to class, or making sure they were okay. It was already a huge thing that the Potters were at Hogwarts but it was already spreading like wildfire about how Lillian Potter was popular.
Lillian had also gotten tons of mail from her loop and more dolls made by Enoch, A flower from Emma, and a couple more items. She missed them dearly but she always had her friends in Hogwarts to cheer her up, especially Fred.
Ever since she tried to help prank the Slytherins that night her and Fred had actually started to talk a lot whether it be in the halls on the way to class, or when he would walk her back from Gryffindor, or even in the library which was the last place Fredrick Weasley would ever be in Hogwarts. It was clear that red headed boy had a crush on her and each time they hang out that familiar feeling hit his chest.
It was Halloween and everyone excited, especially Lillian since it was her favorite holiday besides Christmas. This was her first real Halloween out of the loop and was excited for Hogwarts to celebrate, usually she would play games or read scary stories, but she never did the traditional things such as trick or treat or eating candle apples. She heard from Fred that it was a huge celebrations and the Halloween feast was a big deal.
Today she was taking Charms with the Gryffindors and she was sitting next to Harry while Hermione sat next to Ron. Professor Flitwick began his lecture and everyone grew silent.
"One of wizard's greatest skills is levitation, or the ability to make objects fly. Do you have your feathers?" He asked as he looked around and saw that each had their own feather and continued. "Now don't forget the nice wrist movement we've been practicing. Thus swish and flick, everyone!"
All the students grabbed their wands and repeated after the Professor and mimicking his moves.
"Annunciate Wingardium Leviosa, off you go then." He exclaimed happily.
Everyone began to work trying to see if their feathers would fly as the Professor told them. Lillian grabbed her wand and looked at the feather and repeated the words told to her.
"Wingardium Leviosa." Lillian said, when doing so Lillian's feather flew into the air. Everyone looked at her feather in awe while Professor Flitwick smiled at the girl.
"Well done Miss Potter five points to Hufflepuff."
Lillian smiled and soon everyone tried to mimic Lillian's action. Many tried to lift the feather and some didn't even budge and others were close, Ron was having the most trouble and when seeing that Hermione looked over to him and rolled her eyes.
"Stop your going to take someone's eye out, beside your saying it wrong it's Wingardium LeviOsa not LeviosA." She said making Ron look at her and rolled his eyes.
"Then you do it then if your so clever then, go on." He said annoyed.
Hermione looked at her feather and did the same thing Lillian did and upon doing so succeeded. Everyone looked at her in amazement just like Lillian. Hermione saw Lillian and Lillian gave her a thumbs up and a smile. Except Ron had an unhappy face and wasn't so amazed.
••••••••
As class ended Lillian walked beside Hermione as they exited class. The two had their books in hand were making their way to the next class. The two girls chatted away about their levitation in class.
"Nice job on levitating the feather, you did better than me!" Lillian said, amazed at Hermione and Hermione gushed in flattery.
"Oh please you were the first one to get it, did you read the spell on it?" Hermione asked.
"Maybe." Lillian said trying to hold in laugh but the two ended up laughing and walking outside to see her brother, Ron, and a couple of other Gryffindors.
"It's LeviOsa, not LeviosA!" Ron mimicked and causing all the other boys to laugh at his impression of Hermione. Lillian's and Hermione's laugh stopped and heard what Ron kept saying. "She's a nightmare, no wonder she hasn't got any friends."
The boys laughed once more and Hermione's eyes teared up. Lillian looked over to Hermione as she kept her head down and ran away from Lillian.
"Hermione wait!" Lillian shouted as she saw Hermione push past them all.
The boys stopped laughing as they saw the retreating figure. Some of them feeing quite guilty and looked away from Hermione.
"I think she heard you." Harry said.
Lillian looked at boys furious and never had felt so angry ever. The boys gulped as they looked at her, her face almost as red as her hair.
"Of course she heard you! I can't believe you would laugh at her for that, she was just trying to help you Ron!" She seethed and Ron's face turned white as a sheet. "Also she does have a friend she has me for a best friend and I'd rather be friends with her than the lot of you! I'm rather ashamed of you Harry for laughing at her I hope you feel guilty for what you did!"
Lillian ran after Hermione and was hoping that she could comfort her friend in need. The boys felt guilty especially Harry, guilty that he made his sister upset.
•••••••••
It was later in the afternoon and Lillian was still attempting to cheer up Hermione. She decided that she would got to the feast and would bring sweets for Hermione when they go back to the dorms and would asks one of the girls to bring it to her. Seeing that she was too angry at Ron or Harry to do it. Lillian sat next to Cedric and Hannah, as they ate some of the candy apples.
"So you mean to tell me, that for eleven years you have never had a candy apple?" Cedric asked, shocked.
"I don't know what to tell you." She told them. "Miss Peregrine didn't have the luxuries like you do."
"Tell me you at least had chips." Hannah asked and Lillian looked confused.
"What's chips?" She asked and Hannah put her hand on her heart, offended.
"Cedric call the paramedics, I need to lie down." Hannah said and fell into his arms. Lillian stuck her tongue out and turned to the Gryffindor table and still saw no Hermione. Lillian decided to go over to some of the Gryffindor girls and went to ask them where Hermione was.
"Hey, Lavender, Parvarti have you seen Hermione at all? I'm getting worried." Lillian said and Parvarti looked at Lillian in sadness.
"She still won't come out of the bathroom after you tried cheering her up. We tried to get her to come to the feast but she refused." Parvarti said to Lillian.
"Where's Hermione?" Harry asked, Lillian heard Harry's question as he looked over to her and she scoffed and glared at him and Ron.
"She's been in the bathroom all day crying because of you two idiots. I've been trying to get her to come out all day, I'm going to ask Professor McGonagall if I could bring her some sweets after the feast to make her feel better." Lillian said glaring at Harry and Ron.
As soon as Lillian is about to get up and leave, the doors to the dining hall opened to a frightened Professor Quirrel.
"TROLL IN THE DUNGEON! TROLL IN THE DUNGEON!" He yelled and everyone looked at him in shock and he spoke before passing out. "I thought you'd like to know."
He fell to the ground and once doing so everyone screamed running towards the door.
"SILENCE!" Dumbledore yelled causing everyone to be still. "Everyone please do not panic, now prefects lead your house back to their dormitories. Teachers will follow me to the dungeons."
Everyone did as their told and Lillian was making her way back to Hufflepuff when Harry grabbed her hand and stopped her from going further.
"Lillian you need to help us!" Harry exclaimed and Lillian glared.
"Why should I help you?" Lillian questioned.
"Because Hermione doesn't know about the troll." Ron says and Lillian's eyes softened and knew that this was trouble. Lillian looked at them in worry and Harry gave her a serious look.
"We need to know where she is." Harry said.
Lillian sighed and walked in the opposite direction of the Gryffindor house.
"Follow me." She said and the three of them ran to Hermione before it was too late, as they ran through the halls, they drew closer and closer towards the girl's bathroom.
As Lillian, Harry, and Ron made their way towards the girl's bathroom but were too late. The troll had made its way out of the dungeon.
"It looks like the troll left the dungeon." Ron says scared.
"It's going in the girl's bathroom!" Lillian shouted, running first toward the room.
The boys followed after Lillian and came in quickly when hearing Hermione yell. When they entered their way into the bathroom, they could see a destroyed stall and Hermione under it. She wasn't passed out but she needed to move.
"Hermione Move!" Harry shouted.
The troll then destroyed all the stalls and Hermione started to yell for help. Lillian went over to help Hermione while the two boys distracted the troll. Lillian helped Hermione get up, but when the troll saw them get under the sink. It aimed its club at Lillian and Hermione and the two girls screamed as it kept breaking each sink they were under.
Lillian felt pain on her arm when he hit the last sink too close to her and could see her arm bleeding under her robes.
"Help us!" Hermione yelled.
Harry ran over to the troll and grabbed onto his club only to be thrown on top. Harry kept being thrashed around and accidentally got his wand stuck in the troll's nose. The troll grabbed Harry and tried to hit Harry multiple times.
"Do something!" Harry yelled at Ron.
"What?" Ron asked, not knowing what to do.
"Anything!" Harry pleaded, not knowing how much longer he had. Ron pulled out his wand and Hermione demonstrated the spell they did today.
"Swish and flick." Hermione instructed him.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" Ron said and pointed his wand at the club and soon it flew into the air.
The troll looked confused as to wear his club went but when looking up his club fell on his head making him pass out. He dropped Harry and soon fell after. Hermione helped Lillian up but Lillian hissed in pain, Lillian looked at her arm and saw a red blotch and could tell the glass from the sink had cut her.
"Are you alright Hermione?" Lillian asked, focusing on Hermione for injuries.
"I'm fine but we need to get your arm fixed up." Hermione told her and looked back at the troll and looked over to Harry. "Is it dead?"
"I don't think so, just knocked out." Harry said and pulled out his wand and as he did it was covered in troll snot making the four gag in disgust.
The four of them then heard footsteps running toward the scene and were soon greeted by a shocked Professor McGonagall, an angry Snape, and a nervous Quirrel that came rushing in and seeing the disastrous scene.
"Oh my goodness." Professor McGonagall said placing her hand on her chest. She looked at Ron and Harry and she was furious.
"Explain yourselves both of you!" She exclaimed.
"Well uh- you see-" Both boys were stuttering not knowing how to explain themselves until Hermione stepped in and helped them.
"It was my fault Professor McGonagall." Hermione said with shame, causing everyone in the room to look at Hermione. The three Professors looked baffled, seeing that Hermione a star student had done this.
"Miss- Miss Granger?" Professor McGonagall asked.
"I went looking for the troll I read about them and thought I could handle it. But I was wrong if Harry, Ron, and Lillian hadn't come and found me.. I would of been dead." Hermione said and looked at the three with a grateful smile.
The boys looked surprised after what they did to her and wondering why she would help them. But Lillian smiled at Hermione proud of her action, knowing that this wasn't something easy for her but a brave act.
"Be that as it may it was an extremely foolish thing to do, I expected more rational behavior from your part and I'm very disappointed in you Miss Granger." Professor McGonagall told her sternly and making Hermione look down to the floor in shame. "Five points will be deducted from Gryffindor for your serious lack of judgement."
McGonagall then looked at Ron, Harry, and Lillian with a stern but shocked look and sighed.
"As for you three I just hope you realize how fortunate you are not many first year students could take on a fully grown mountain troll and live to tell the tale. Five points will be awarded to Gryffindor and Hufflepuff for pure dumb luck." She said and the three smiled at one another from earning points.
However when moving her arm she hissed in pain and suddenly she felt a headache, she leaned onto Harry as the three Professors looked at Lillian in worry. Blood was stained on her robes as it seemed more was coming out. Lillian soon started to feel dizzy and felt her vision go blurry.
"I don't feel so good." She said.
"Lillian!" Harry shouted as he caught her from falling and Lillian's vision was soon black and dark, but could hear her friends and Professors shout as she slipped into darkness.
•••••••••
Lillian had opened her eyes to a bright room, her eyes adjusted to the bright light and when she moved her left arm she felt a bit of pain. She could see things more clearly and realized she was sitting in a bed and noticed her left arm bandaged up.
She felt something on her lap and could see Jewel was curled up and sleeping on her lap soundly. She looked around and saw little cards for her and even sweets from other students, all get well cards, and could see a big one made for her from Harry. Lillian heard footsteps and when she turned her head she saw Madame Promfrey come in and smiled to see Lillian awake.
Madame Promfrey, the school's nurse placed the food down and came over and checked her vitals.
"Hello dear how are you feeling?" She asked, checking her arm.
"A bit sore, what happened?" She asked confused, not remembering much.
"Well you passed out from blood loss, after taking down that troll with your brother and Mr.Weasley. Professor Snape carried you here and we were all so worried. You've been out for 3 days, everyone has been bringing you gifts. Miss Abbott brought down your Niffler since she had been riled up from not seeing you, she's been down here ever since. Dumbledore had sent a letter to your guardian but we haven't gotten a response yet."
Lillian looked back at all the gifts and smiled happy that many people gave her gifts, even a few Slytherins had brought her a few things and she felt touched that so many people brought her things. Jewel eye's opened and when seeing Lillian awake, ran over to her and snuggled her. Lillian laughed and kissed the top of her head and used her right arm to pet her.
"Now dear I'll ask someone to take these gifts for you upstairs but as of right now you can go change and go into the dining hall for lunch. But you must come straight back here okay?" Madame Promfrey told her and Lillian nodded her head.
"Yes Madame Promfrey." Lillian said to her.
Lillian put her robes on replacing the attire she was already wearing and looked at herself in the mirror and could see her hair was a mess, and decided to brush it out, since she couldn't put it up.
She exited the hospital wing and walked all the way to the dining hall with Jewel and when coming in, everyone looked at Lillian. Some of the Professors smiled, Hermione and Hannah came running over to Lillian and hugged her.
"I'm so glad your okay." Hannah said and Lillian hugged her back and walked over to the Gryffindor table as Hannah was eating over there and speaking to Neville. "Cedric is in the common room but he'll be racing toward the hospital wing to see you now that your awake."
"You gave us quite a fright." Hermione told her and Lillian came over to her brother and he hugged her tightly, and helped her sit down.
"I have been so worried, I thought the worst had happened when you didn't wake up." Harry said.
"You had m-us worried." Fred said and George elbowed him in the shoulder.
"I'm alright, Madame Promfrey said I could come down and eat and then come back to the hospital wing." Lillian said and grabbed a few things from the table. "I'll probably catch up on my work since I've been out for 3 days."
Hermione took a few papers out from one of her textbooks, and handed Lillian all of her notes and Homework.
"No need I did homework for the both of us so you wouldn't be drowning in homework." Hermione handed it to Lillian and Ron looked at Hermione in amazement. "Just let me know when you finish."
"Can you do that for me?" Ron asked Hermione.
"No the difference between Lillian and you is that she had an excuse." Hermione told him and Ron stuck his tongue out at her.
Lillian smiled at everyone's antics and was glad to be around her friends again, and every so often someone from Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or even Slytherin would come over and would say they were glad she was okay.
However when lunch was ending that was Lillian's cue to leave the bunch and gave her final hugs and goodbyes to everyone.
"Hey Lillian, I can walk you back." Fred said and grabbed his bag and came over beside and Lillian smiled.
"Alright, can't have the pretty twin go walk alone. Sticking together." She said and took the notes Hermione gave her and headed with Fred back to the hospital wing.
"Did you prank anyone since I've been knocked out?" She asked.
"We used some dye spell and turned the Ravenclaw's hair pink." He said, laughing. "Boy were they angry."
Lillian laughed, wishing she was there for that moment and Fred looked at her bandaged arm in worry.
"Is your arm okay?" He asked and she looked at her left arm and shrugged.
"As good as it can be, but it'll heal. Besides I'll have a cool scar to show to people." She said, looking on the bright side and Fred shook his head.
"Your peculiar Lillian Potter." Fred said causing Lillian to laugh and go to the doors of the medical wing.
"Well you better go, before Madame Promfrey kills you for being here." She said and Fred winked.
"A great risk I'm willing to take." He said and waved goodbye. "See you later Lillian."
Lillian waved goodbye and when going through the doors to the medical wing and she looked up and saw Miss Peregrine. Lillian smiled happily and ran over to her guardian and hugged her with her good arm and tried to ignore the pain.
"Miss Peregrine!" Lillian said and Miss Peregrine kissed her head.
"Hello my dear, I received the letter and came as soon as I could and wanted to see if you were okay." She said worriedly looking at her arm.
"I'm fine I just cut my arm that's all." Lillian showed Miss Peregrine the bandage. "What if your outside the loop for too long?"
"I'm alright, there was another loop not too far and I was able to stop by for a few moments. I also came to deliver these gift for you from the rest of the loop. They begged me to bring as much as I could." Miss Peregrine told her and handed her a package. When giving her the items Lillian was very happy to be given pictures taken and more dolls from Enoch. Lillian hugged Miss Peregrine once more.
"How is everyone?" Lillian asked.
"We all miss you we love receiving letters from you, we read them at dinner and enjoy some of the things you send back to us." Miss Peregrine told her and looked at her pocket watch and sighed. "I must be going, I don't have much time."
"I love you." Lillian said, feeling saddened by Miss Peregrine leaving. "I can't wait to come back home with you all."
"I love you most, now remember it's very dangerous to have you out in the world. If Barron hears of you, you'll be in great danger and I will tell the children on how you are doing and send your love to them." Miss Peregrine kissed the top of her head and flew away back to the loop. When doing so Lillian went back into bed and sat comfortably as Jewel came over and snuggled up to her. Lillian went over to a few of her gifts and grabbed a chocolate frog and began to read the homework Hermione gave her and enjoy the sweets.
