•Ch.5•
IT WAS THE FIRST DAY AT HOGWARTS and Lillian was the first to wake up in the room. She got out of bed and found Jewel sleeping soundly on top of her pillow cradling the money she had. Lillian put her feet on the cold floor and shudder, she decided to get ready and she tied her hair up in a bun and wore her robes and was about to get her stuff. Newt came over and went on top of Lillian's supplies implying to take him with her.
"Alright get into my pocket but don't let anyone see you understood?" Lillian said and extended her hand to Newt. Newt nodded happily and climbed onto her hand and into her pocket.
Lillian went into the common room and could see a few people already up and ready. She looked over and saw Cedric was sitting in one of the chairs, reading one of his books for class.
"Hey Cedric." She said, causing him to look up and smile at her.
"Hey Lils." He said and closed his book. "Ready for your first day of the rest of your life?"
"Yes, I'm so excited for classes and what's with Lils?" She asked and raised her eyebrow and he laughed. "I have to give you a nickname."
"Well then Ced, there's your nickname." She jokes and both of them laughed together. "You going to breakfast?"
"Yeah, I was just doing some quick reading before Herbology." He said pointed to his satchel. "Your lucky you don't have to deal with that stuff yet. When your in Hufflepuff professor Sprout expects you to be your best."
"She's the headmistress of Hufflepuff?" Lillian Asked.
"Yep you should of seen her when she came into the common room happy about you getting in Hufflepuff." He said. "She's a kind lady really. Do you want to head to breakfast?"
"Sure, I have to get my time table." She said, and both of them walked into the halls and went up the stairs and to the grand hall. There were a couple people in the grand hall, but mostly the early birds were in the hall.
Lillian noticed that only Headmaster Dumbledore, Professor Flitwick, Professor Snape, and Professor McGonagall were there enjoying break fast.
Lillian and Cedric both sat down and began to eat breakfast. She grabbed bacon, toast, some fruit, and two waffles to enjoy and as she was talking to Cedric, Professor Sprout came to the table.
"Hello Mr.Diggory and Miss Potter, here is your time table it tells you which classes you have every day. We all are very happy to have you in Hufflepuff, you got the Hufflepuff spirit I can tell." Professor Sprout said. "Hope you've been treating her well Diggory, you already support the quidditch team."
"Yes Professor, she's in great hands." He said and Lillian blushed.
"I'm very excited as well Professor." Lillian said and when the professor left she continued to talk to Cedric and eat breakfast until she was full, Hannah joined the two and soon all three of them began to talk and the Hufflepuff trio was then born at Hogwarts.
•••••••••
Transfiguration was beginning to start and Lillian had no idea where Harry and Ron was. She saw them at breakfast but Hannah, Hermione, and her decided to leave early to get to class early. She decided to sit with Hermione for Transfiguration and Hannah for potions seeing that she could sit with both of them. She was writing down notes with Hermione when the sound of the door stopped everyone from writing and focusing on the two who just arrived. Hermione rolled her eyes and began writing again, while Lillian was worried what would happen when McGonagall reveals herself.
"Made it." Ron said out of breath.
"Can you imagine McGonagall's face if she saw us arrive late?" Harry asked.
But Lillian only laughed quietly as the cat that was once on the desk transform into a lady and it just any lady but Professor McGonagall. Both boys went white and looked at the Professor in amazement.
"That was bloody brilliant." Ron said.
"Thank you for that assessment Mr.Weasley, perhaps it would be better if I transfigured Mr.Potter or yourself into a pocket watch that way one of you would be on time!" She said sternly.
"We got lost." Harry said looking down at the ground.
"Then maybe a map, I trust you two don't need one to find your seats?" Then Professor McGonagall walked up to her desk and began working on other things.
Lillian handed her brother her notes as he walked past her and he gave her a smile, glad that she was helping him. The two boys went up to one of the desks and placed their things down. Hermione looked at Lillian in confusion and whispered to her.
"Why did you do that? I mean your brother was late and you need those notes." Hermione said to her and Lillian shook her head.
"He needed the help, besides I can get them back." Lillian said and Hermione smiled.
"You definitely are a true Hufflepuff." Hermione said to her and the two girls continued to write down their notes for the remainder of class.
•••••••••••
It later after transfiguration and was then Potions with the Gryffindors. Lillian was sitting with Hannah on her left and her brother on her right and excited to be doing Potions. When reading Potions it was her second favorite book next to Care of Magical Creatures.
"I heard this was mother's favorite class, I hope I can do good." Lillian said worriedly looking at Harry, nervous.
"Oh Lily you've already read potion books up to fifth year and you've read your first year potion book three times your going to excel in this." Hannah says looking at her.
"I'm sure you'll do wonderful Lillian." Harry said to her.
As everyone was waiting for the Professor to come in they all sat down and were chatting with one another until the door swung open catching everyone by surprise. The loud noise caused everyone to be silent and to take the gaze to the teacher who walked in.
"There will be no foolish wand waving, silly incantation in this class. As such I don't expect many to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion making. " Snape then looked over to Lillian. "However for those select few. Who possess the preposition, I can teach you to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper to death." Lillian was on the edge of her seat and her face showed beyond excitement as she was already excited eager to learn potions.
"Then again..." Snape began again looking directly at Harry. "Maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so imitable and confident enough to not pay attention." He said glaring at Harry. Lillian poked his arm and told him to look up. Snape glared at the young boy and began to walk close to Harry.
"Mr.Potter our new celebrity." He said with distain, Harry looked confused and looked at Lillian not understanding why he only said him instead of them both. Lillian looked confused as well and was taken from her confused state when Snape began to speak.
"Tell me what would I get if I added powder asphodel and worm wood?" Lillian raised her hand immediately but Snape ignored her and responded
"You don't know? Well let's try again, where would you mister Potter if I asked you to find me bezoar? " He asked and Lillian's hand raised again and Snape looked at Lillian.
"Miss Potter can you answer that?" He asked.
"A bezoar is a stone take from the stomach of a goat." She answered confidently, smiling from when she read that in her potions book.
"Correct Miss Potter five points to Hufflepuff for answering it correctly." He said, and everyone in the room was shocked that Snape gave points to a Hufflepuff and a first year no doubt. Everyone knew from countless other students that Snape was one of the most scariest teachers at Hogwarts and was proud to be one.
"What is the difference, Mr.Potter, between Monkshood and Wolfsbane?" He asked to Harry once more and once again Lillian then raised her hand again and Snape then called on her again.
"They are the same plant and goes by the name of aconite." She answered once more.
"Correct another five points to Hufflepuff for correction." Snape looked at Harry and glared. "Pity that fame isn't everything as it turns to be Mr.Potter."
Snape then walked over to his desk and everyone began to listen to the first lesson of the year.
•••••••••
After potions had ended everyone in the room left as soon as they could and leaving Snape to clean up the cauldrons. Lillian was about to leave with Hermione when Lillian told Hermione she'd catch up. Lillian put her books on one of the tables in the back and began putting cauldrons away.
Snape turned to see Lillian helping put the cauldrons up and came forward confused as to why she was cleaning.
"Miss Potter what are you doing?" He asked.
"I'm helping you clean up, it's hard for one person to do it alone I can skip a few minutes of lunch." She replied grabbing another cauldron and putting away.
"You don't need to." He told her.
"But I want to, plus you most likely have 4th year Potions next and with that they'll probably need different sized cauldrons and different assortments since they are higher leveled." Snape looked at the girl in surprise.
"How do you know that?" He asked
"I read about it in the 4th year's potion book." She said casually.
"You've read 4th year's potion book?" He asked quite surprised.
"Twice actually, I've read all potion books from 1st year to 5th year. My mother's favorite class was Potions and I can see why, but I really like transfiguration and I can't wait to go to Charms and Herbology." She ranted, moving her hands around and realized she was rambling and her face turned red from embarrassment.
Snape smiled at the girl and thinking how she was just like Lily, how she would ramble about things that would excite her and making people smile when entering a room. How could she show how much she knows without even realizing it.
"Did you know my mother?" Lillian asked causing the Professor to freeze at question.
"Yes- yes I did." He said, turning away and grabbing a cauldron.
"Was she your friend?" She asked, curiously. Snape looked at the young girl and tried to hide the sadness and remembered her mother fondly.
"She was my best friend." He said. "Your mother and I were very close."
Lillian's eyes brightened and knew this was her chance to get to know her deceased mother. Miss Peregrine never knew her mother, in fact Miss Peregrine was her mother and she was glad enough to have her as a one. But with coming to the wizarding world everyone said she looked like her mother but never knew who she was.
"What was she like? Everyone says I look like her but if you knew her can you at least tell me what she was like?" She asked and Snape grabbed one of the cauldron to put away and began to think what to say.
"She was like you, she was always helpful a person who could understand anyone and be a shoulder to cry on. As well when it came to school she was on top of everything she was known as one of the smartest girls at Hogwarts." He said, remember the times of him and her mother. "She would be happy that you got into Hufflepuff, the only reason why she didn't go into Hufflepuff was because of her temper."
"Really?" She asked, laughing. "My mother had a temper?"
"Your mother had quite the punch that even I feared." He said and when Lillian put one of the last cauldrons away and grabbed her books.
"Thank you for telling me this, I'm glad she had someone like you as a friend. I have to go though, that food isn't going to eat itself." She said heading towards the great hall.
As she left Professor Snape looked at her in pain, seeing her as a reminder of his departed Lily. Knowing that if Lily was here she would have wanted him to look out for her, even in death he could hear her voice saying to help her daughter.
••••••••
It was lunchtime and Lillian arrived to the Great Hall walking over to the Gryffindor table and sat right next to Hermione and Harry. She wanted to spend time with them for a few minutes and enjoy the company of the Gryffindor table.
"Hey Lillian." Harry said as Lillian sat down beside her brother and hugged him.
"Hey Harry, how's your first day been?" Lillian asked, grabbing a sandwich and began to eat.
"It's been swell, though Snape has a target on my back for no reason. I don't understand why he was so harsh on me." He wondered and she nudged him.
"Maybe he thinks I'm the prettier twin." She said and caused her to laugh, and making Harry lightly punch her shoulder.
"I told you I would see you again." The familiar voice said and when Lillian looked over she saw the boy from the train.
"Indeed you would, it's nice to see you again." Lillian said, smiling to him.
"Oh no, you've got bad luck if you've met my brothers." Ron said with food in his mouth.
"Brothers?" Lillian asked.
"There's whole thing about the Weasley family, were everywhere." Ron said, and pointed to the boy. "That's Fred and George."
Lillian looked over and could see a boy that looked exactly like Fred and Lillian's eyes widen at the realization.
"And just like she said to Harry, I'm the better looking twin." Fred said and made a face at Ron.
"Well it's nice to meet you Fred." She said and took another bite out of her sandwich and turned to Harry. "Do you need my notes for potions? I think-" Lillian was then cut off when a flash of light and puff of smoke came out of a goblet a boy named Seamus was working on and Seamus having soot on his face.
Lillian grabbed a napkin out in some water and gave Seamus the damp napkin.
"Here you go." She said trying not to laugh and as the Gryffindor table held in their laughter it was silenced by screeches that could be heard throughout the hall and Ron looked up.
"Mails here." Ron said excitedly.
Ron's delivered mail was the daily prophet, Harry saw it and asked if he could see it. Ron nodded that he could and Harry began to read it. Lillian's mail was dropped on the table and was given a huge stack of letters that everyone at the table looked at.
"Oh everyone in the house sent a letter." Lillian said.
"It looks like a brick of mail." Harry said, and held the heavy stacks of papers.
"Look Neville got a rememberall." Seamus said and everyone turned to Neville.
"I've read about those, when the smoke turns red it means you've forgotten something." Hermione said.
"The only problem is I can't remember what I've forgotten." Neville said sheepishly.
"Hey Ron look, someone broke into the Gringotts. Listen, belived to be the work of dark wizards or witches unknown. Gringotts while acknowledging the breach insists nothing was taken. The vault in question number 713 had been in fact emptied earlier that day." Harry said and put down the daily prophet.
"That's odd that's the vault Hagrid and I went to." He added. Lillian looked at the daily prophet and looked back at Harry. "I went there to grab money from Mom and Dad's bank they left for us."
"Well whoever wanted must have been to late." Lillian gave back the prophet and looked over to the Hufflepuff table and saw Cedric and Hannah sitting together with a few other Hufflepuffs. "I'll see you guys later, Hermione let me know if you start your research on the assignment for transfiguration. We can work on that together, and I hope we can talk again Fred us pretty twins need to stick together."
"If you need help in transfiguration I can help, George and I excelled in that class." Fred said to Lillian. "We can meet in the Gryffindor common room."
"When did you ever excel in anything at school?" Ron asked Fred, wondering why he was offering to tutor.
"Maybe if you didn't focus on food you'd realize George and I are excellent students." Fred said, glaring and looked back at Lillian. "Plus I can help you with the topic."
"Thanks Fred, I'll let you know." She said, and gave him a smile that made his heart flutter.
With that she left the Gryffindor table with her letters in hand, and sat beside Cedric and continued her lunch.
"Does our little Freddie have a crush?" George asked teasingly.
"Dude she's like eleven." Ron said stuffing his face more.
"And my little sister." Harry said, glaring a bit and Fred put his hands up.
"I don't have a crush on her, I've only seen her three times." Fred said, not knowing that he was lying to himself. He turned to look at Lillian and smiled once more as he watched her laugh with Hannah and Cedric, talking about their first day and their enjoyment at school.
