•Ch.14•
THEY HAD LANDED BUCKBEAK IN ONE OF THE COURTYARDS. Lillian got off, then Hermione, then Harry, and lastly Sirius.
Lillian kissed Buckbeak's cheek and he chirped. Hermione looked at Lillian and nodded, letting Lillian know that she would be with Buckbeak.
"Good boy." Lillian said and went over to Sirius and Harry as they hid in the hallway.
"I'll be forever grateful for this." Sirius said and looked at all of them. "To the three of you."
"I want to go with you." Harry said determinedly. "Lillian will come too."
"One day- perhaps." Sirius said. "For some time- my life will be too unpredictable. And besides you and your sister are meant to be here."
"But you're innocent." Lillian told Sirius and he smiled and placed a hand on both of Harry's and Lillian's shoulder.
"And you both know it." Sirius said tearfully. "And for now that'll do. I expect you both are tired of hearing this but Harry you look so like your father- except for your eyes and Lillian so much like your dear mother- except I can see a bit of your father's spirit in you."
Lillian laughed at this and Sirius touched Lillian's cheek gently and sighed.
"It's cruel that I spent so much time with James and Lily and you two so little." Sirius said. "But both of you, know this. The ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find them in here."
He placed a hand on both of their chests and Lillian tried not to cry but a tear slipped out.
"Don't cry Lillian, It'll be alright." Sirius said and hugged her tightly and then whispered in her ear. "I'll see you with Remus sooner than you think."
Lillian looked up at him and he smiled, he got up and walked away from Harry and Lillian and watched as he got up on Buckbeak. Sirius looked down at Hermione.
"You really are the brightest witch of your age." Sirius said and looked at Lillian. "The both of you."
"Take good care of Buckbeak!" Lillian said. "And don't let him just eat rats and ferrets! Add some vegetables too!"
"I will." Sirius laughed and with the chain that was still attached to Buckbeak, Sirius grabbed them and Buckbeak chirped and flew into the sky with Sirius with him.
Lillian hugged Harry and watched as Sirius figure in the sky became farther and farther away.
"I think it's time we went to bed." Hermione said and Lillian sighed tiredly.
"I need sleep, it takes a lot out of you when you save lives." Lillian said and jumped on Harry's back. Harry and Hermione laughed. "Onward!"
Harry walked and Lillian rested her head on Harry's shoulder as they walked back through the Hogwarts hall. Three of them feeling proud of freeing a wrongly accused man.
••••••••••••••
It was the next morning as people began to prepare to go home. Lillian saw the common room busy and full as students had their stuff together and running around making sure nothing was missing.
Lillian didn't worry much about packing since she packed earlier than others. She decided to check on her godfather after the events that took place, wondering if he was alright.
Harry went with her and two decided to walk up to his office and talk to him.
They walked up the steps and when they came into his office, they saw him packing his things.
"Hello Harry, Lillian." He greeted as his back was turned to them. "I saw you coming."
Remus said as he pointed at the marauder's map, and then pointed his wand at one of his cases and the case folded together neatly.
Lillian and Harry could see Remus's state, he liked pale and could see a few new scratches on his face. Lillian and Harry looked worried and Remus could tell.
"I've looked worse, believe me." Remus said and continued to pack.
Lillian saw all his things together and Harry's eyes widened.
"You've been sacked?" Harry said dumbfounded.
"That's not fair! You are the best-" Lillian was cut off by Remus.
"No, no. I resigned, actually." He said and the twins looked at him confused.
"Resigned, why?" Lillian asked and Remus sighed.
"Well, it seems that somebody let slip the nature of my condition." Remus said and tore up papers and threw it in the fire. "This time tomorrow, the owls will start arriving and parents will not want a- um- well someone like me teaching their children."
"But Dumbledore-" Harry tried to explain but Remus smiled sadly.
"Dumbledore has already risked enough on my behalf." Remus said and looked at Lillian's head. "I almost risked a student's life, I'm used to it by now."
Lillian touched her head and shook her head, coming over to her godfather quickly and taking his hand.
"It was an accident, I transformed to lead you away. I did the same thing Sirius did and I knew the consequences." Lillian explained and pointed at her bump. "This is not your fault."
Lillian took out her wand and pointed it at his trunk and put all of his things in his trunk, closing it shut and locking it.
"Besides someone is going to have to help you. Who's gonna get you chocolate?" Lillian asked cashing Remus to chuckle.
Harry looked solemn and Remus turned to Harry and looked at him with a sad smile.
"Why do you look so miserable, Harry?" Remus asked and Harry looked down.
"None of it made any difference." Harry said. "Pettigrew escaped."
Remus and Lillian looked confused, just last night Lillian saw Harry happy, happy that they freed Sirius, saved Buckbeak.
"Didn't make any difference?" Remus asked and Lillian went over to Harry and hugged him.
"Harry, it made all the difference." Lillian said. "We saved Sirius, we saved Buckbeak, it may not be how we want it but at least they're alive."
"Lillian is right Harry, you uncovered the truth, you saved an innocent man." Remus shook his head and grabbed a stack full of books and put it in a box. "You and your friends made a great deal of difference, I'm proud of you both."
Remus grabbed his coat and stood before the twins.
"You two have learned so much this year, good and bad." He said and put his coat on. "Now, since I am no longer your teacher, I feel no guilt giving this to you both."
Remus pointed to the marauders map, Lillian grabbed it and looked up at him.
"Really?" Lillian asked with a hint of mischief.
"I think I should give it to you Harry, your sister has that same look your father did when he caused trouble, mischief managed." Remus said and the map closed up and gave the map to Harry, the three of them laughed.
"So now I'll say goodbye, Harry." He said and looked at Lillian. "Do you have all your things packed?"
"Yes, it's all packed and ready to go." She said and Remus nodded, Harry looked sad as his only family was leaving and Lillian could tell. "I'll see you again Harry, don't you worry."
"We'll both see you again." Remus said and Lillian hugged Remus. "I'll let you say goodbye and afterwards go get your things. We have a long trip ahead of us."
Lillian nodded and took Harry's hand, leaving Remus alone to put the last things together.
Harry glanced at the map, smiling at one of his possessions that reminded him of his real family.
••••••••••••••
Harry and Lillian decided to walk to the great hall, seeing that most people were there.
She and Harry walked side by side and when they entered the great hall, the Gryffindor table was crowded with their friends, Lillian could see some of the Hufflepuff at the table as well.
Seamus and Neville saw them and ran up to them excitedly.
"Hey, Harry and Lily!" Neville shouted and Seamus was excited. "Wherever did you guys get it?"
Harry and Lillian were confused as some of the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff students looked at them.
"Yeah Lillian, why didn't you tell me you got it?" Cedric asked.
"What are you talking about?" Lillian asked and both of them went up to the table to see two packages poorly wrapped.
"Uh- I didn't mean to open it Harry." Ron said and looked at one of the packages. "It was terribly wrapped, they made me do it!"
Ron pointed at the twins and they looked at him with annoyance.
"Did not!" They both said and Lillian laughed and shook her head.
"Don't worry Lillian, I protected yours at all cost." Hannah said and Lillian smiled as Hannah let her look at the package more closely.
The twins both grabbed their packages and opened it at the same time. They both gasped at what they received.
"It's a Firebolt." Cedric said and Lillian picked hers up and held it up. "It's the fastest broom in the world."
"For us?" Lillian asked excitedly but then had a look of confusion as did Harry. "Who's it from?"
"Does it have a name on it, besides ours?" Harry asked and Hermione looked through the package until she saw a familiar piece and held it up.
"This came with it." Hermione said and held up one of Buckbeak's feathers. Lillian took it in her hand and smiled sadly.
She couldn't wait to thank Sirius when she had the chance, she was excited to tell Remus about it as well.
"We'll definitely destroy the other houses next year as n quidditch." Cedric said and Oliver scoffed.
"Sure Diggory, we've got Harry if you haven't noticed." Oliver said. "We'll see next year."
"Come on Wood, where's your friendly competition spirit?" Lillian asked and Oliver smirked.
"It's there, but I got priorities." Oliver said and Lillian rolled her eyes.
"As much as I would love to stay, I'm afraid I'm leaving a bit earlier than I thought." Lillian said and everyone's face fell.
"Really?" Fred asked. "You have to?"
"I have new living arrangements and my godfather and I have a long journey." Lillian said.
"Your godfather?" Hannah asked.
"Professor Lupin." Lillian answered and some people gasped.
"You mean your living with a werewolf, isn't that dangerous?" Seamus asked and Lillian glared.
"That's none of your concern, you've seen Professor Lupin. He eats chocolate and folds his socks, really scary." Lillian said and Seamus gulped for making Lillian angry. "Besides being a werewolf doesn't make him any less of person, he's still the same man you guys liked as a professor."
Some of the students looked down in guilt as they had the same thoughts as Seamus and as Lillian lectured them, they knew it was true.
"Now, I have to go grab my things and leave." Lillian said with a sigh and smiled. "I'll see you guys next year, I'll write to you guys."
Harry hugged his sister, and soon more and more people hugged her. She hugged people tight and the last person she need to hug was her tall, redhead, goofy boyfriend.
"Here I'll walk you to your dorm." Fred said and Lillian nodded. He grabbed her free hand, and said goodbye to everyone in the great hall and Lillian walked towards her dorm with Fred.
"Sooo..." Fred said and Lillian looked up at him with a smile. "You gonna come visit us this summer? Mom has been asking about you."
"Yeah, I'll have to see. I gotta ask Remus if it's okay." Lillian said and Fred nodded. "But I'll try everything to see you and send you lots of letters."
"I'd like that." Fred said and when they got to the entrance of the Hufflepuff dorm. Fred sighed and Lillian smiled sadly as she knew she had to go.
"Promise you'll write?" Lillian asked and Fred laughed.
"If I don't you can feed me to your animals." Fred said and leaned down to kiss her. She kissed him back and felt Fred's hand gently touch her cheek.
When they parted Lillian was red in the face and Fred laughed.
"Oh shut it, you always know how to make me blush." Lillian said and Fred kissed her cheek.
"It's the best thing I know." Fred said and hugged her tightly. "See you later Lillian."
"Bye Fred!" Lillian said and watched as he walked away from her view. She had a big smile as she went into her dorm to grab all her things.
•••••••••••
"You've got everything?" Remus asked.
"Yep!" Lillian said as she had all of her things together. Jewel was a bit jumpy as she kept squirming in Lillian's arms. Newt stayed in Lillian's pocket on her shirt.
"Alright, there's a room that I rented at one of the inns, we'll be staying there for the week." Remus explained. "Your guardian sent me a little bit of money, which we are very fortunate for."
"Alright!" Lillian said, once again Jewel squirmed and Lillian huffed. "Okay Jewel just go into the bag, sit tight in there."
Remus was looking at his papers that secured the reservation and while he wasn't looking she pulled out the carpet bag.
Lillian opened up the carpet bag, and Jewel ran into it. Lillian also remembered that Thor needed to be fed and quickly grabbed some dead rats she had left over from Buckbeak.
"Jewel!" Lillian said and Jewel popped her head in. "Give these to Thor and I'll give you six coins."
Jewel grabbed the bag and disappeared into the bag. Remus stopped looking and Lillian quickly came up and held her stuff together as Remus was going to apparate them.
"Let's go then!" Remus said and with a flick of his wand, the two of them then appeared right out front of the inn.
"It's nice." Lillian said as she looked at the inn, it was small from what she could tell. They stood on a cobblestone road and saw a small little garden on the side.
"Off we go." Remus said and Lillian grabbed her items and followed Remus.
When they went inside, they saw an old woman in her 60s. Wearing a warm knitted sweater and a cat sitting on her desk.
"Hello dearies, welcome to Lilac inn." She looked at their luggage. "Room for two?"
"Yes, I actually already booked it for the week. Lupin." Remus said and the woman grabbed her glasses and placed them on her face and squinted at the book in front of her.
"Ah, yes. Lupin." She said and went to the wall and grabbed two set of keys. "Here's one for each of you. Just to let you know I make breakfasts in the morning if you'd like and make the best cocoa, as well there's a small reading nook to the left open all hours."
"That sounds lovely." Lillian said. "Thank you, Miss?"
"Miss Sybil, now your room is just upstairs and the first on the left." She said and Lillian and Remus thanked her and took their things carefully up the stairs.
Lillian used the key and opened the room for them both and saw the quaint little inn they were staying in for the week.
"Welcome, summer break." Lillian said as her and Remus began to get comfy.
As they got settled Lillian felt something she hadn't felt in a long time.
It was peace and quiet.
