Few Days Later
Caesar and (Y/N) sat in the trunk of the car. "Where we going?" Caesar signed to his sister.
"Redwoods. Lot's of trees, tall ones." (Y/N) replied speaking and signing. Caesar's eyes widened and his excitement grew. He stared out the window and watched as more and more trees came into view. After a while, they reached a stop.
Will came around the back and opened up the trunk. Caesar and (Y/N) hopped out. Will pulled out a leash and connected it to Caesar's collar. "He won't need a leash, he'll be fine!" Charles yelled.
"Just to be safe, come on." Will said.
"I don't like this thing." Caesar complained to his sister. (Y/N) looked at the strange leash thing as they got onto the bridge that led to the forest.
"Does it hurt?" She asked.
"No. Just annoying." He replied.
"Caesar?" Will got the kids attention. "If I take this off, you cannot leave my sight. Or we'll never find you again. (Y/N)?"
"I know, I'll watch him." (Y/N) smiled.
"Good girl." Will smiled too. Suddenly, Caesar bent down and reached his hand out towards Will.
"What's this?" Charles asked.
"What's he doing?" Will asked.
"I don't believe that! He's asking your permission. It's a supplicating gesture. Here." Caroline stated as she grabbed Will's hand and showed him what to do. She gently slid Will's hand over Caesar's.
"Come on kids. Off you go!" Charles encouraged them.
Caesar looked at (Y/N) and signed, "race?"
"You're on." Caesar climbed the trees while (Y/N) flew to the sky and soon they reached the biggest tree they have ever seen. They both stood at the bottom, looking up at the extremely tall tree. They heard Will, Charles and Caroline run towards them, calling their names.
"Come on kids, go!" Charles yelled. In a matter of seconds, both of them were already half way up. Caesar using his strong arms to climb and (Y/N) used her strong wings to fly. They went up, and up, and up. Caesar jumped and swung to and from different tree branches while (Y/N) flew over and under them. In about a minute they both reached the top of the tree.
Caesar stood on the top branch and looked over the city. He looked around to find (Y/N) and saw she was flying above him. "I've never been this high up before." He signed.
"Me neither." She said. "Feels good though." Caesar nodded in agreement. "We'll always be there for each other right?" (Y/N) asked out of nowhere. Caesar smiled his classic cheeky smile.
"Always. Brother and sister." Caesar looked down at the ground then back up to (Y/N). "Why?"He signed. (Y/N) thought back to the day when the strange man watched her through the window. She looked back to the 4 year old chimp and gave a half smile.
"No reason."
