"Talking" 

Damon woke up when the sun hit his eyes. He noticed that his brothers weren't next to him, and (Y/N) wasn't on the branch above. He slowly climbed down the ladder, still a little tired. He walked to the main area of the ape home. He was a little cautious because he was extremely new to the place. Damon looked around as he tried to find his brothers. Then he heard the sounds of laughter. He looked to the right and saw his brothers, Nova and a few chimpanzees playing together, including Cornelius. Then he heard the sounds of wind above him. 

WHOOSH! 

Damon looked up to see (Y/N) flying in the air. She performed twists and turns while soaring at rapid speed. He watched her in awe is she majestically flew through the sky. (Y/N) stopped and lowered herself next to Maurice and Rocket. 

"How are the new humans going?" Maurice asked. 

"They're okay. Slept in my tree. They seem nice but I'm still not 100% sure they should stay permanently." (Y/N) replied. Maurice nodded in understanding. 

"I saw you talking with the eldest. What's his name?" Rocket asked. 

"Damon. He's had a tough past." 

"Not as tough as yours I'm sure." Maurice chuckled as (Y/N) joined him. Maurice looked over (Y/N)'s shoulder and saw Damon watching them. "He seems interested in you." Maurice smirked. (Y/N) turned around and looked at the boy. Damon immediately looked away, pretending nothing happened. (Y/N) shook her head as she gave a light chuckle. 

"Shut up." She said playfully. "They're just some people that needed a place to stay for a bit. Not a big deal." She finished. (Y/N) then took off to the sky and flew over to Nova, Liam and Andrew. 

"Hey Nova!" (Y/N) called as she landed. Nova smiled and got up from where she was sitting and ran over to (Y/N). With (Y/N) being busy with the humans, she hadn't had much time to hang out with her. Nova hugged her then pulled her over next to Liam and Andrew. 

"He's like me!" Nova signed as she pointed to Liam. "I'm teaching him how to sign." 

"That's nice of you. What has he learnt so far?" (Y/N) asked. 

"Not much. Just a few names and greetings. But we did make signs for their names." Nova explained. She showed (Y/N) Liam's name sign, Andrew's name sign and Damon's name sign. (Y/N) smiled slightly at the three children as they laughed at their accomplishments. She sensed Damon walking towards them. 

"Show Damon how to sign as well." (Y/N) said as she winked to Nova. Damon sat down in between his brothers. 

"Hi Damon!" Andrew smiled as he hugged his eldest brother. 

"Hey Damon, how's it going?" Liam signed. 

"What?" Damon questioned, not understanding what his brother 'said'. 

"He asked 'how's it going'." (Y/N) answered for him blankly. 

"Oh.." Damon laughed. "Then I'm good. Well done on learning to sign, you dork." He said as he ruffled Liam's hair. 

Andrew interrupted by asking, "hey um..(Y/N)..can I feel your wings?" He asked quietly. Nova's smile disappeared as she looked to (Y/N). She knew (Y/N) was sensitive when it came to her wings. They're what made her different. A good different, obviously. (Y/N) slowly stretched out her right wing and let Andrew feel her feathers. Multiple scars, some bigger than others, covered her wings. But they were covered by her black feathers. "Wow..." Andrew said. "They're so pretty." (Y/N) smiled as a silent thank you. 

A few hours had past of the five people talking, learning signs and having fun. Nova told stories about her life with her dad and them running into the forest, away from the Northern military camp (with (Y/N) helping her translate). (Y/N) gave a brief explanation of her life but never went into the violent parts. She had told a few people of what happened to her but she'd never told anybody the pain and suffering she'd been through, except for Caesar. 

It was around noon when (Y/N) was called for their hunt. There weren't many deers (the animals in the beginning of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) near the apes home so they had to travel a bit further out to catch their food. (Y/N) stood up after an ape had informed her that it was time to hunt. 

She said, "I gotta go hunt. I'll be back soon. Nova, you're in charge." 

She turned around before hearing, "Wait, hunt? Like 'hunt hunt'?" Damon asked with a strange worried expression. (Y/N) looked at him confused. 

"Yes? What, you worried?" She asked with a smirk. "Don't worry. I've gotten used to killing." She said with her eyes giving a flash of red. Then she turned around and joined the apes to put their war paint on (they did this in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes so why not here). 

A/N

(The paint that Caesar had on was different to everyone else's. The ape's paint depended on their authority ranking. Search up "planet of the apes war paint" and you'll see the difference. Oh, and (Y/N) wears the same paint as Caesar did)

The apes made their way in and out the forest and started to search for deer. They searched until they reached another forest and found hoof prints in the dirt. (Y/N) listened carefully for any signs of deer in the forest. And there was. The apes made their way up the trees and swung from branch to branch. (Y/N) flew through the air while looking for the deer. Once she found them, she flew down into the forest and told the apes where the deers were. They took their time and eventually caught five deers. Then they made their way back to their home. 

(Y/N) and the apes had been gone for about two and a half hours and nobody was worried. Except for Damon. For some reason, he didn't want (Y/N) to go in the first place. But from what he's heard, (Y/N) is extremely skilled and even deadly. He sat on a hill and watched where (Y/N) and the apes had left. Then Maurice came and sat down next to him. 

"Oh, um... hi?" Damon said with a nervous smile. 

"You're... worried." Maurice said, with his voice becoming clearer this past year, his speaking has improved. Damon looked at the orangutan confused. 

"About what?" He asked. 

Maurice smiled, "(Y/N)." Damon laughed awkwardly and shook his head. 

"I don't even know her that well." He said. Maurice nodded. 

"But, you like her." He added. Damon was about to argue with him, but no words came out. Did he like (Y/N)? Was it only because she was the only girl his age? Was it because of her gorgeous looks and magnificent wings? It's only been less than 48 hours since he met her, and boy, was she intimidating yet irresistible. But he knew that despite, maybe, having these emotions, he must not let them ruin his job that he'd been told to do. His thoughts were interrupted as Maurice stood up and walked over to the group of apes that walked through the main area with deers lying dead on makeshift wooden 'trailors'. And (Y/N) walking through, covered in blood.
