Chapter 18: Music
A/N
(Y/N) Your Name
"Signing"
"Talking"
All the apes were home and continuing on with their regular activities. Caesar was sitting in his tree just waiting for (Y/N) to get back. And right on time, she did. (Y/N) flew through the village and up into the tree. She landed on the branches above Caesar.
"I was worried!" He signed.
"Why? Those humans can't hurt me." (Y/N) said as she hopped off the branch and stood next to Caesar.
"You never know. I just want to protect you."
"I know. And I appreciate it. But I'm over 18, not to mention I'm not entirely human. Please Caesar, I've learned to defend myself over the years." She explained to him.
"I understand. I'm just protective."
"I can see that." She said as she motioned to Blue Eyes down with the other apes. "He's getting older and stronger. You need to trust him a bit more." Caesar looked down but he knew (Y/N) was right. He just wanted to be a good father and brother. "Has he not talked to you at all?" (Y/N) asked. Caesar shook his head. "It's getting late." She said as she watched the apes start the fire.
"I think I'll go to sleep early tonight. I'll get something to eat first." (Y/N) smiled and hugged Caesar as he hugged back.
"You're such a caring idiot Caecae." (Y/N) sighed. Caesar laughed. They separated and made their way down to the fire and soon after, (Y/N) went to bed.
The Next Day
(Y/N) slowly woke up and stretched. She looked out to the main part of the ape home. She watched as some apes started to wake up and moved around. As she looked around, Caesar, Maurice and Rocket caught her eye. They were huddled in a small circle on the main large rock. (Y/N) stretched her wings and flew down to them. "Morning." She signed. They all returned the gesture. "Where are the humans?" She asked.
"In the waterfall." Rocket replied as (Y/N) nodded.
"We also found something else." Maurice signed.
That Night
The apes led the humans through the forest to an abandoned gas station called '76'. Malcolm, Ellie, Alex and two other guys walked with Caesar and Rocket, who were on horses, a couple other apes and (Y/N). The humans stood and looked at the gas station but what amazed them most was that the lights were on. The electricity was working again.
One of the guys went inside and started messing with the front desk. Everyone sat outside, waiting for something to happen. (Y/N) sat on the roof of the station, her wings wrapped around her as she looked at the stars. Then suddenly, music started playing. And out of all types of music, country. Playing on the loudspeakers, loud enough so only the people surrounding the building could hear it.
All the humans gasped as they listened. They chuckled as they watched their friend dance inside the building. Since there was no electricity, that meant none of them had heard music for a few a years. But for (Y/N)... for (Y/N) it had been 12 years. No people, no outside and especially no music. But hearing it now, after all this time, she couldn't do anything except smile and let tears of happiness roll down her face.
(Y/N) sat there for a minute before wiping her tears and flying down next to Caesar. "You okay?" He asked.
"Never better." She signed back. They both walked over to Malcolm. Well, Caesar on his horse.
"It worked. Well, at least here it did. We'll know when we get back to the city." Malcolm mentioned as they walked over. Caesar looked around then back to Malcolm.
"Trust." He said as he held out his hand. Malcolm shook it.
"Trust." He repeated then looked to (Y/N). "Sorry for what Carver did to you. Do you think you could at least trust the rest of us?"
"I guess I can think about it." (Y/N) smirked.
"Come." Caesar spoke, getting all the humans attention. "Something to show you."
