Ugh.

Your Mum always nagged you to go outside more. And today was one of those days. The days where she'd force you out of the house.

Admittedly, it was a lovely day. A slight breeze blew through the air and the Sun rays illuminated Beach City. And just like any other collection of pleasant hours to yourself, it was a perfect time to visit the beach...
Again.

Who can blame you? It's right by your doorstep and there's not much to do inside. Maybe read, but you do most of that in the winter months, instead.

As you made your way down to the sandy floor, you spotted Steven and his friend. It appeared that they were dancing so you thought that you should join them.

On your way down, Steven spotted you in the near distance and ran up to you, delivering a hug at the same time. His friend followed him to you and looked up at your figure.

"(Y/N)! This is my friend, Connie. Connie, this is my friend, (Y/N)." Steven introduced the both of you to each other. She held her hand out infront of her and you took it.

Being older than them by a couple of years, you were already tall compared to the kids. They hadn't had a growth spurt yet, however, the same does not apply to you.

"It's nice to meet you, (Y/N)." Connie said, politely.

"And it's a pleasure to meet you, Connie." You said, giggling at how similar the greetings were.

All in all, Connie seemed to be a really caring friend. She remembered EVERYTHING that Steven told her about the Gems - even the little things like that Garnet was the first publicly seen fusion of two different types of Gem.
Very quickly, Connie became your friend. And you became hers.

You learnt that Pearl was training Connie quite well and you wanted to have that much attention, too. She showed you some of her tricks and you were impressed. Fighting like an adult at age 12.

Steven stared at Connie when she was ranting about her latest book and he had a glint of adoration for her in his loving gaze. You thought you said try to get them together but figured they were too young and would work it out in their own time.
