Chapter 12 - Blue Princess
WARNING: May contain traces of Lapidot
------------------------------
After the mini tour, you felt a bit more comfortable around Lapis and Peridot. They hadn't completely warmed up to you but it was early days and you wondered if you'd see them in the future.
Peridot invited you to watch a TV Show with her. At first you were going to accept her offer but realised you wouldn't be able to jump up to the car platform and certainly wasn't keen in asking Lazuli for help so you politely declined. Peridot seemed disappointed but then sprung up with another idea.
"Well, human! I-I mean (Y/N), I will just show you our brilliantly grown fields of plants!" She took your hand eagerly and pulled you over to some wheat. Pearl followed you two, making sure neither got into some form of trouble.
This distraction gave Lapis a good idea. She needed to talk to Steven about something.
"Steven, I don't know her." Lapis said bluntly. Steven just shrugged and thought of a reply.
"Well... you won't know her until you talk to her. (Y/N) is really nice and won't hurt you. Look! She even brought home-made brownies for you guys." Steven pulled out the tray of fresh baked goods.
"A good point. I'll see what Peridot says." Lapis crossed her arms and blushed a darker blue from the thought of her short triangle friend.
A few minutes later, the three of you came back. Much to Peridot's surprise, you were already knowledgable of fruits and vegetables. However, she claimed that her friend/pet was a barking pumpkin. You looked at Steven laughing but he gave you a smile that suggested that she wasn't lying.
Lapis, observing your every move suspiciously, noticed your doubt about Peridot's crazy stories and spoke to her in private while you, Steven and Pearl just chatted about training and missions.
When they were out of earshot, Lapis began questioning.
"So? What's she like? Is she evil? Does she want to hurt us?" Lapis held Peridot's shoulders while asking agressively.
"Lapis! We can trust her! Believe me, she is a good human who even deserves to be in the company of me. Don't worry, my blue princess, she shall not harm us purposely." Peridot looked into Lapis's blue eyes and hugged her tightly. It was sweet and reassuring. Lazuli was flustered by her new name 'blue princess' and didn't particularly like it but Peridot thought it fitted her perfectly as she is like a princess and is blue.
Pearl was mid-sentence when you randomly squealed with delight. She looked dumb-founded until you pointed in the distance at two silloutes hugging each other.
You were too far away to hear their conversation but close enough to see the blush radiating off of both of their cheeks. It was a glowing blue and green blur but it was obvious who was sharing this action of affection.
They came back over as if nothing had previously happened. You tended up as Lapis was staring right at you. This instantly made you think that Peridot said something about you that upset her.
Lazuli got closer and looked down in embarrassment when she was infront of you.
"(Y/N). I'm sorry for assuming you were bad and being mean to you. I just... I'm just afraid to be hurt again so I don't like trusting people. But I should have known better because Steven likes you and I believe him sooooo yeah. I, uh, wasn't thinking." She said this quite awkardly and it seemed like she didn't mean it but only sis it to make Peridot proud. Either way, in today's society, it is really brave to face your mistakes and admit to your wrong-doings so this was still sweet of her to try.
"Thank you, Lapis. I understand." You said with a smile and she returned a slight one back.
"Sorry to break this up, guys but we've got to go home." Greg shouted from his van, startling you.
Steven hugged Peridot and Lapis goodbye, Pearl exchanged smiles and you waved awkwardly and gave them a high-five. When you raised your hand to Lapis, she pulled you in for a hug and naturally, Peridot joined in. It was all very sweet but you departed from their farm in Greg's van.
You didn't realise how late it was and your Mum would be either mad worried. Pearl said that she should trust you more which made you feel a bit better.
The four of you arrived back to Beach City at 8:30. It wasn't pitch black and only just entering night time but you said you'd home by 7. Weirdly, you only had one missed-call from your Mother and when you called her in the way back, she didn't answer. She could be busy or be ignoring you.
But only one call.
You jumped out of the van and thanked Mr. Universe for taking you there. Steven invited you to come around after school the following day which was an offer hard to reject.
Pearl hugged you goodbye and wished you well with a possible argument with a certain parent.
After that, you ran a couple of blocks to get home and fiddled with your keys to unlock the door. It was usually unlocked when your Mum was waiting for you so maybe she had gone to bed already.
You plonked your stuff onto the carpeted floor and stretched out on your bed.
After 10 minutes of a quick rest, you snuck into your Mum's room to see if she was there. Huh? No one. Her bed was neatly made and her make-up bag was emptied across the bottom of it.
Curious, you explored. Fancy dresses were sprawled on her chair but several really beautiful, expensive ones were missing. From her make-up selection, a deep maroon lipstick, a brown eyebrow pencil, black mascara, that face powder stuff thing and gold eyeshadow was gone. You knew this as it was present you got for her on her birthday and she only used them for special occasions as they were not cheap.
You looked around the room some more and noticed her calendar had a date circled in red. It was today and read "Nesta's Hen Party!!!".
Oh.
Okay.
That explains it.
Her fancy and most expensive products were taken, the door was locked and she only called once. It really does make sense.
On that thought, you yawned and went to bed. Pulling out your phone, you got a text from Steven asking how your Mum reacted and you replied saying nothing happened.
Then you fell.
Asleep.
