Chapter 10 - Future Vision

With Garnets future vision, you managed to see what would and could happen. This did come in handy; catching falling objects, knowing the answers on your maths papers, seeing your Mum die...

Yeah, that was tough.

It seems to be in years time where she sacrifices herself to help the gems. This would have most likely happen because of your association with them. This left you a bit shaken up, but nonetheless, you continued fowards. At least it was just a possibility. And if you avoided her ever meeting the gems, then it was never going to happen.

Now, time to get to business! You needed to figure what to say to Pearl and how things would work out between the two of you from there. At first, you didn't really want to have any spoilers but then you realised how much power you had right now.

The ability to see the future! You could have extreme bettings, win the lottery by having the exact numbers, save lives, prevent bad things from occurring and so much more!

Your mind was blurred by all these thoughts - some evil, some beneficial to others as well as yourself. You only really wanted to have this power to see how it will go with Pearl and if you really is a chance but now, you saw everything so differently.

You saw through Garnet's perspective. How since they're gems, they could potentially live forever, whereas all these humans will die. The people of beach city, including yourself, are just insignificant parts of a gem's long life.

That made you think about your importance to Pearl. Was it non-existant or real? She must've met so many different humans who somewhat changed her in a small way, but didn't usually have a big impact on her. Admittedly, Mr. Universe did date her leader and crush who then died because of childbirth caused by their relationship, but that was about it. Well, at least as far as we know.

If you did magically end up dating Pearl, what would you mean to her after your death? You understood that Rose meant a lot to Pearl and she still mourns her absence ever since that day, but she had known Rose for thousands of years. They spent countless human lifetimes with each other - what would one be to her now?

This depressing fact made you contemplate your life and others'. Even if you did go out with Pearl, she'd most likely move on to another person, and then another, and then another. Whether they are gem or human, it's bound to happen at some point.

This made the whole concept of being close to Pearl less special. That your life was just a tiny fragment of the universe, like a shard from a broken mirror. Rose believed that all life was precious - especially human ones. But you weren't Rose, another reason why you thought that it would be a bad idea to confront Pearl in that way. The relationship between the two of you was going great so far so what's the point of risking it?

But Pearl did kiss you. Maybe it was because of her alien life, she deemed those types of things less special than we do or maybe, she actually liked you. Pearl wasn't stupid and you'd imagine that by fighting and protecting earth, along with the inhabitants, she'd learn simple aspects of their lives.

This really brought you down and all your hope of having a future together was drained. You weren't thinking about getting married or anything but still wanted to have that chance to. Although the future vision was tempting, you managed to keep her head straight and not use that power.

Well, Garnet did temporarily transfer a big responsibility over to you and it would be a shame to waste such effort...
Maybe you could just experiment a little bit.

You didn't take huge courses of action, just small ones, like predicting - well knowing - how to win games against Steven. Despite how amazing he is at his favourite video games, you managed to beat him once. This victory let your mind stray away from the thought of Pearl.

It was quite awkward when you frequently saw Pearl out and about or just at the temple. Amethyst being Amethyst knew what was up and wiggled her eyebrows or just smirked at your blushing face everytime Pearl simply walked past you.

The future vision ability was wearing off and you felt like Garnet would be disappointed in you for not actually using it properly. Of course, she'd have been able to seen you reporting back before it had even happened but whether it was a surprise or not, you were almost certain that Garnet wouldn't lend you her powers again - or maybe even trust you again!

~le timeship brought to you by Kulsumas philange which hurts~

"H-Hey, Garnet?" You called out to the shady figure firmly standing on the sand while staring straight at the sea. It was illuminated by the moon's light and the city's lights reflecting onto the water.

"You already know, I guess and I'm just here to say that I am so so sor-" She unexpectedly pulled you into a hug, silencing you half way through your sentence.

"It's okay, (Y/N). This was all a test, to see how well you could understand us as gems. To see what you would choose; good or bad. And trust me, you made the right choices. Consider yourself one of the Crystal Gems and Humans, of course." Garnet put a comforting hand on your shoulder, squeezing it slightly on the process.

"Thank you, Garnet. Thank you." You wrapped your arms tightly around her with excitement and she chuckled while ruffling your hair. You figured out why Garnet was the unwritten leader of the gems and could really view how much of a good friend she is to fall back and rely on, as Pearl and Amethyst do.

But little did you know, a jealous Pearl was watching you and Garnet from the balcony of Steven's house, muttering how Garnet needs to bACk oFf.

Don't worry, I'm not turning Pearl into a yandere; she's just quite protective - especially since Rose's death.
