Arthur's shadow - Part 4 - Isaiah x Reader
(Y/n) placed the lipstick to her lips; the bright scarlet colour spreading across them. Normally she didn't get too dressed up for these things; normally she dressed much like the boys. But tonight, tonight she wanted to do something different. She wanted to look beautiful for Isaiah. She wanted to impress him.
"And who are you getting all tarted up for?" Polly asked, a broad smile gracing her features, as she looked at her youngest niece through the mirror.
"I'm not getting tarted up.................."
"Rubbish. Ya hair's done, ya wearing make up and a dress. Normally, ya look like the lads. So, ya going with someone tonight............"
"Shhhhhhhh, Aunt Pol. Please." (Y/n) pleaded, as she hushed her aunt and quickly made her way to the door of the room. Opening it slowly and looking up the stairs to make sure that Arthur was nowhere to be seen. The young Shelby breathing a sigh of relief, as she saw no one. (Y/n) closing the door again, before turning to look at the older woman.
"You can't tell Arthur about this. Promise me you won't tell Arthur anything before we get to the Garrison. You know what he's like; if he thinks that I'm meeting a boy, he either won't let me go to your party, or he will threaten him and throw him out, even if it is Isaiah.................."
"Isaiah...........? Isaiah is taking you...............?"
"No.....well, yes. I'm meeting him at the pub. I didn't want him coming here and having the Holy Trinity of the Shelby brothers, breathing down his neck. Issy is my friend, he always has been; but.........well I like him too, and I don't want my big brothers putting him off. It's not easy getting boys to talk to me when they know I'm Arthur, Tommy and John's little sister. They're all scared to do or say the wrong things in case they end up on the wrong side of Arthur's fists." (Y/n) sighed, as she continued to look at her aunt. Polly taking her hand and leading her to the sofa, the two women sitting down.
Polly knew that Isaiah was a trusted member of the firm. That there were worse boys in town that her niece could have her eye fall on; the two having known one another since (Y/n), Finn and Isaiah had been little nippers; but she also knew that the young man had quite the wandering eye. That he was not one to ignore a pretty face, and the last thing she wanted was for (Y/n) to be hurt. But she had to say, now that she thought about it, that she had noticed a change in the young man. That she had seen Isaiah watching her niece when he didn't think the other boys would catch him. That his eyes were focused on (Y/n) and not any other girl. So, she was glad to help. Polly wanting to see the little girl that had cried in her arms the day that Arthur, Tommy and John had gone to war. The girl that had almost pined away as Arthur fought in France, happy. Wanted to see her make a life for herself, beyond her older brother. To find herself someone that loved her.
"Fine. I'll send the boys on ahead. You can go to the Garrison with me. I want to make an entrance anyway." Polly smiled. That smile getting broader, as (Y/n) hugged her.

"Where's (Y/n)............?" Arthur asked, as he looked at the others. The boys all ready to pile into the car and make their way to the pub for the celebrations.
"She's coming with me." A voice came, the boys turning to see their aunt poking her head around the door to the front room.
"Now, go on......................."
"I can wait, I'll take ya both in." Arthur offered; Polly simply shaking her head in reply.
"I am perfectly capable of driving myself to my own party. No get lost, the lot of you..............." Polly continued, before she closed the door and locked it. Tommy just giving Arthur a shrug, before John put his arm around his older brother's shoulders, and they all made their way to the front door.
"Thank you, Pol." (Y/n) said, giving her aunt a smile, before she brushed her hands over her dress.
"You look beautiful. Isaiah won't be able to keep his eyes off ya............"
"If Finn had seen me in this, he would have laughed. John would have made the same comment as you did...........and then he would have laughed; Tommy would have given me a disapproving look and Arthur would have sent me upstairs to get changed into something decent. Do you really think that Issy will like it.............?"
"Like it.........when he sees you, he'll want you out of it............"
"Polly!...............Do you really think so?" The young Shelby gasped. Both the women beginning to laugh, as they grabbed their coats and bags.
"I don't think, I know. Now, come on, let's go and make that entrance........."

Isaiah smiled, as the Shelby boys and Michael made their way into the pub; Arthur going straight to the bar to get the drinks in. He felt as though he had been waiting for (Y/n) for hours. It feeling as though time had never gone so slowly. He was dressed in his best suit; his hair done just right, and his shoes polished to the point where he could see his face in them. Yet the one thing that he couldn't see, was (Y/n). Isaiah wondering why the young Shelby wasn't with her brothers, like she normally would be.
"John..............?"
"Yeah..............?" John replied, as he helped pass out the drinks.
"Is (Y/n) not with you................?"
"What.........oh no, she's coming with Aunt Pol. Pol said she wants to make an entrance, and (Y/n) is joining her." John explained, as he gave Isaiah a drink of his own. John, Isaiah and everyone else turning to look, as the doors to the pub were opened. Isaiah unable to stop himself from smiling, as he saw (Y/n) stood in the doorway with her aunt. His heart beginning to thump rapidly, as she made her way over to him.
