Arthur's shadow - Part 2 - Isaiah x Arthur x Reader
"Oh my god, Arthur. I'm so sorry..............." (Y/n) called out, as one of her punched connected firmly with her eldest sibling's chin. Isaiah rushing over to the makeshift ring, as Arthur stumbled back and actually fell to the canvas, much to his shock and the shock of (Y/n) and Isaiah too. (Y/n) tearing at the strings that held the gloves together, with her teeth, as she dropped to her knees by her brother's side. Arthur rubbing at his chin, as (Y/n) threw her gloves to the side and looked at him with concern. The older man suddenly letting out an amused snort.
"Are you alright, Arthur? I didn't mean to....................."
"Course I'm alright. And of course, ya meant to. That's tha whole point; not much use in fightin if ya don't want ta try and hit someone. That was a fuckin good punch anole. Just promise me that ya won't tell any of tha lads that ya knocked me down" Arthur said with a chuckle; (Y/n) breathing a sigh of relief and nodding, as she got to her feet and offered him her hand. The young woman helping her big brother to his own feet. Arthur pulling her into his arms and kissing the top of her head.
"Ya getting good, (Y/n). Get any better, and you'll be givin Bonnie Gold a run for his money. I can only imagine tha look on Aberama's face, if he ever saw ya knock his lad ta tha canvas. I'm sure that it wouldn't do much for the reputation, even if he did beat old Billy Mills." Arthur continued; both of them now chuckling at the idea of Romany gypsies face, if she were to get the better of his boy.
"And speakin a Bonnie, I think that that lad has a thing for ya. Ya should watch him.........." Arthur said, as he moved so that he could hold his sister at arm's length. The oldest son of Arthur Shelby senior, looking the young woman up and down.
As much as he hated to admit it, his sister was not a little girl anymore. Not the doe eyed tiny, sweet creature that he had had to tear himself away from, as he, Tommy and John had made their way to the train, so that they could go to the war. She was not even the terror of all the little boys, that they had returned to Small Heath to find. No, now she was a woman. A very beautiful, smart young woman. A beautiful, smart young woman that was not only the pride of Arthur, but the rest of the family too. A woman that was now attracting the attentions of many a young man, despite how much Arthur would growl and threaten; despite how much he would promise to maim or even kill any unworthy soul that even so much as looked in his beloved sister's direction. Yet he knew that no matter how much he tried, sooner or later some boy would come along and sweep her off her feet. Would capture his sister's heart and she would really no longer just be his little (Y/n). That was if she hadn't already found someone. Arthur sometimes noticing things. Noticing that she would drift off into her own thoughts; as if something, or someone had caught her attention. A blush sometimes coming to her cheeks.
"Bonnie..........? Bonnie is a nice enough boy, handsome too. But he's too caught up in becoming a professional boxer to even think about girls. Aberama has probably even told him that girls are no good for him or some such thing. That they take up too much time. Anyway, as handsome as he is, he isn't my type................"
"Oh, aye, and what is your type, little sister?" Arthur asked, as he looked down at her. (Y/n) about to say something when an attention gaining cough came from behind the pair. The two Shelby's turning to see Isaiah on the other side of the ropes.
"Issy............" (Y/n) said cheerfully, as she pulled away from her older brother; making her way to the side of the ring, climbing through the ropes and allowing Isaiah to help her to the floor. Isaiah holding her waist for a moment, and looking deep into her smiling eyes, sure that he would happily get lost in them for the rest of his days, until Arthur lent over the ropes and huffed.
"Alright, Arthur.............." Isaiah said, as he finally let go of (Y/n) and stood back. The older Shelby eyeing him, as he too climbed through the ropes and jumped down from the canvas. His arm resting over his sister's shoulder. Arthur protectively pulling her into his side.
"Isaiah............" Arthur greeted, before turning his attention to (Y/n).
"Come on, lets get ya back ta tha house..................."
"Actually, I was hoping that I could speak to (Y/n) for a moment............" Isaiah interrupted. His heart beating a little quicker, as she smiled at him.
"I don't think so. Its better that she come back with me............."
"Oh, please Arthur. I'm in safe hands with Issy, you know that. And I am sure that he won't mind walking me home when we are done........will you Issy...............?"
"No, no. It'll be my pleasure..............." Issy agreed. Both he and (Y/n) ignoring the glare that Arthur was giving the younger man. The breath catching in Isaiah's throat, as she bit down onto her bottom lip.
"Aye........well, don't take too long. We all got ta get ready for tonight..........." Arthur reluctantly agreed, before he kissed his sister on the forehead.
"Bring her straight home..............Oh, and don't tell tha others that she knocked me down..........." Arthur said, as he pointed a warning finger at Isaiah. Kissing his sister once again, before hesitantly letting her go, and leaving her with the young man.
