Ch 7 - Compromise
Sensei is about to tell you what happened to her career.
Enjoy.

Before we begin this is just theory on my take. I tried to research and do not believe it was mentioned. So here we go.
The tea was ready as she came out with two mugs. Ironically hers said bride and the other one said groom. She poured from the kettle and you were have the curtains dry from over the tub they it doesn't drip everywhere. It was nice that you were able to sip some nice hot tea and just talk freely. Especially since there always seems to be a chip in both of her shoulders.
"Sensei?"
"I know you're concerned with my prior career. What you think should be gloating and showcasing talent is really now painful and it is in the past." Such a serious tone. Sounded painful. Maybe this is why she has that bite in her voice.
"Of course I am. It's proof you were amazing. Yet you hide it. You seem unproud of it." You state to her because why would someone hide their goals?
She took a breath. "Because of the flexibility needed a figure skater at most only lasts until usually their mid 20's. I was at the top of the competition until my father came into my room while I was studying. It was in my senior year of high school at Ichinose. He came in and said that was my last medal."
"No..." Her father told her that was it?
"I asked him why. I just won that conference gold medal the day prior and I was doing my homework and essay for my Japanese class. Doing what I was supposed to do. It was part of the deal. I remember being so confused and sad when he told me that that was my last competition. The way he decided it for me when I thought I had a few more years to go. I wanted to be an Olympian."
"Incredible." You gasped softly.
"But he said now that I was seventeen it was choose a school, choose a major that he approves of, and my new life was now excel at school and head to a university. That was that." She said sadly.
"Sensei, I'm sorry."
"No need." She looked away at the certain covering her accomplishments. "With that said, he wasn't going to pay for anything more and wanted me to accept the college that would be local and pay most of the tuition through scholarships available. And with everything going on through that sad time, I found myself knowing history books well. Thought it would be a good spot for me. Many openings and many history teachers retiring. That said, this was my new track I was on. Teaching students to have talent and use it. Talent wasted is sad."
You didn't understand that. "But you were still in prime when he cut you off."
"I argued and tried to make my point valid. I used my knowledge and did my very best to reason. It proved to be no use. And now I do my very best to prepare students for tasks ahead. Want them to try their hardest and give maximum effort."
So you are trying to scramble of what is going on. Hmmm. Her Father stopped funding her to skate and be an adult. Even though she could have been one of Japan's all greats. But maybe that's why she is a teacher. "Sensei is this why you're a teacher? To make sure they know what they want for the future?"
"One of the reasons. My father approved of it. Had a scholarship cover everything except books. I couldn't pass it up."
"The way you are determined and driven Sensei you could have been anything you wanted. But you got here. Do you like it?"
She nodded. "Naturally. Had to do something. Discipline is in my favor."
She's a pain in the ass. "I see..." Then you see something near the floor behind her. This is where you go into an old baseball technique. You take off your slipper and put it in your hand.
"What are you doing?"
You leap and slide across the floor. Slapping the slipper against the floor. Killing the cockroach that has been scaring Kirisu Sensei this whole time. "Gotcha. Damn vermin."
"You got it!?" She gasped.
"Well ya know. Baseball dive. You think I just pitched my whole life?"
"Let me grab you some paper towels."
"That would be nice." Especially since you have to the point where these things crawl in here.

In another hour you were done. Cleaned up everything and you are saying goodbye to her. It took an awful long time to clean. But thankfully, what's done is done. That would be it. No sign of any more bugs which is surprising and you are ready to takeoff.
"I won't speak a word of this to anymore. I give you my promise. I'll head back to my cousin and say it took a while but it's done."
She handed over a couple bills. "Thank you for doing so."
"And everything is in order? No vermin, place is tidy, and there isn't a problem having a man in here right?"
She shook her head. "No. Good evening." With that she closed the door behind you.
You chuckled with a happy end to it. Then you ring your cousin Asumi back to report in the news. "Hey Cuz. Just got done."
< Wow. Place must have been a mess. >
"Oh yeah. It was. Top and bottom. Even bras on the floor in the living room. Like come on now."
< Was it a woman alone? >
"Yes."
< Good looking? >
"Very."
< Might send you again over there. >
Concern much. "Well then. I guess if it pays. Right?"
< Exactly. But since that took you a few hours, I think that will be it. I guess just rest up and I will keep you informed. That good by you? >
"Yeah. Thanks Asumi."
< No problem. I got to bring you by work sometime too. Might really enjoy yourself. >
"I will. Till then."
Though the problem at hand wasn't your injury. Nor was it Kirisu Sensei with her former career, cleanliness, and demeanor. It was that you had know idea where your cousin's work establishment was. Or the two men that guarded the place like they were mercenaries...
