Double update :))  I went missing for almost a month lol. Enjoy  💓

Mira POV

"Gloxinia, com'ere."

I watched in silence as he poked his head around the corner of the tree. His eyes looked at mine with a bit of disappointment.

"How did you know I was here?"

I looked at him in silence before scoffing,"Isn't it obvious. You're not slick."

He smiled as he came near to me.

10 more days.

10 more days until the ruler of fairies was chosen. It was so close yet it felt so far away.

"You've improved a lot haven't you?" he said with a smile on his face.

I smiled a bit before walking towards him,"Did you expect me to still be the same?"

Suddenly Gloxinia's expression dropped.

"What's wrong?" I said as I watched his eyes stare at something behind me.

I turned around slowly to see Amaro. He had a smug expression on his face.

"Hello Mira," he said looking at Gloxinia.

I looked back at Gloxinia and his facial expression was the unamused.

He had greeted me but was looking at Gloxinia.

How strange.

I grabbed Gloxinia's arm,"Well it's nice to see you but we'll be going now."

"You should give up on trying to be the ruler of fairies."

I turned around at once glaring at him intensely.

"What did you say?"

"Give up."

I felt anger fill me up and I immediately began walking towards him.

Quick as a flash Gloxinia grabbed me and pulled me towards him.

"It's not even worth it. Can't you see he's just trying to get you angry."

He smirked, "I gave up."

My eyes widened and Gloxinia stiffened.

"What? Why?" I asked confused.

He rolled his eyes,"Don't you know anything? Haida the speared fairy. There's no way anyone but him would become the ruler of the fairies. Have you seen him in the tournament? There's no point in trying anymore."

I looked at Gloxinia, "Did you know about this?"

He looked at me before nodding, "It's just a way of division. I don't watch tournaments like those."

I grabbed Gloxinia's hand before flying away from Amaro not bothering to say goodbye.

"Where is this tournament?" I said.

His eyebrow rose, "You're not thinking of entering are you?"

I looked at him with disgust,"Of course not. I'm not stupid. I just wanna see what I'm up against."

He narrowed his eyes at me skeptically, "I trust you but I don't want you to start doubting yourself. Are you sure about this?"

I nodded before looking deep into his golden eyes and taking a deep breath, " So where can I find this place?"

He sighed, "It's in the east side of the forest. You know the side where the trees look haunted at night."

"Can you take me there?"

He nodded slowly so we flew towards it together.

We sat on the grass around the match watching in silence among the crowd.

Haida.

It was him. The same guy who I had seen at the tree the other day. The one who had acted all snobby.

He looked so cool with his long blue hair and his spear fitting nicely in his hand.

I wondered what kind of techniques he had up his sleeve.

I felt nervousness, annoyance and excitement fill me up as I stared at him. This was his last match and within seconds it was over.

His magical energy seemed to be very stable, as he sent his opponent into a whirlwind.

I didn't know what to think but now that I saw him I knew I was stronger. It was comforting.

I looked at Gloxinia who was staring at me, "So? What do you think?" he whispered.

"He's actually not bad," I whispered in his ear to which he responded with a nod and a smirk.

He knew I was comfortable. He could see it on my face. I wasn't intimidated.

One of the fairies stepped onto the place where the match had ended and looked towards the audience.

He spoke, "Is there anyone here who thinks that they can go against the ruler of fairies, Haida?"

There was a silence as nobody dared to speak but I was feeling rather peculiar.

I looked over at Gloxinia but he didn't make eye contact with me.

For some reason I felt like he wasn't telling me something. There was something about Gloxinia that was so strange, as if he was stronger than he appeared.

It was at that moment that my curiosity peaked and I tickled underneath his arm.

He immediately jumped.

"Oh, do we have a contender?" the fairy said.

Gloxinia looked back at me with confused eyes, "Really Mira?"

I smiled, "Go up there. I know you can do it."

He looked straight at me and I sensed pure anger. His eyes were burning with rage and his fists were clenched.

I immediately stiffened and as soon as I did his eyes quickly turned into a sadder expression.

He then turned around and began to walk away from me.

He slowly made his way to where Haida was and the two made eye contact.
I watched them in silence and I felt an unexpected feeling come up. I was uncomfortable.

I wonder why I had done this to Gloxinia, he looked sad. Was he scared? Was he mad inside?

I told him I wouldn't participate but I didn't tell him anything about himself. I felt as if I had done something wrong but it was too late.

The fairy had already began counting down.

...

This was Gloxinia?

...

...

...

I felt sweat drop down my face slowly as my mind went blank.

My heart was beating so fast, my inner self had been shaken to the point of no return. I was scared. I was so scared.

I swallowed hard.

I was intimidated, for once.

How was it that he had so much magical energy? How was it that he was so accurate?

I felt myself shudder as I looked at the giant cocoon in front of me. Everyone did and everyone was silent. The trees around us had been warped into a cocoon that seemed to reach the clouds. Haida was somewhere in that big cocoon and he couldn't get out. Gloxinia had made it only about thirty seconds.

It was if Haida was a child who had attacked a warrior at full force and, of course, lost miserably.

There was silence everywhere,  the fairies that had come to watch were shocked and I sat there shaking.

How the hell was I supposed to compete with that?

Gloxinia came walking towards me and his eyes were calm.

"Can we go?" he said his voice barely above a whisper.

I faked a smile, "Good job, yeah, let's go."

I stood up and we made eye contact. His eyes silently scanned me over as if he was trying to spot any change of emotion.

As if he was trying to say, 'did I scare you?'

In that moment, for the first time, I felt pure hatred towards him.

I hated the feeling I had inside, but in the next second the hatred disappeared, all I was left with was despair.

I took his hand and we flew. We flew away together and as we flew we didn't say a word to each other.

It was complete silence and for the first time I heard something.

Crack.

Somewhere in my heart I felt it.

I felt like crying.

How was it that Gloxinia, the one I loved, was the same fairy who could strip me of my goal?

I immediately stopped flying, "I think I should go home."

Gloxinia nodded.

He didn't say a word.

He knew what just happened.

He heard the crack too.

::

For the next ten days I didn't see Gloxinia. I didn't want to and I couldn't bring myself to.

I trained, and trained, and trained.

I had to catch up. I had to be enough.

I barely slept and yet I kept pushing and pushing waiting for that day to come.

And I knew it would come, eventually.
