two ☮ mother knows best
As Juniper slowly nodded her eyes over she turned to see Clarke. Clarke looked to be fast asleep, but she slowly opened her eyes.
"Is she gone?" Clarke hissed as they heard a door close and a small beep. Juniper turned to look in that direction and nodded her head. "Good, why are we in the hospital?" Clarke asked sitting up. Juniper sat up as well as she sighed.
"My mom is here. She came down here instead of being floated. They have her locked up in a room. She told me to go to the hospital." Juniper explained really fast and Clarke was shocked.
"Your Mom is alive?" Clarke asked and Juniper nodded her head.
"My Dad fought for her to come down to Earth, she made it to Mount Weather." Juniper answered as she looked around. There was nothing in here that could help them, why did her Mom want her to go here.
"Why the hospital?" Clarke asked and Juniper shrugged her shoulders.
"That's where I thought you would come in? You have already escaped, you must know something we don't." Juniper answered as she looked at all the patients. Then Clarke did her famous Clarke look before she stood up.
"I did see something weird today." Clarke said before she walked over to a different bed. Juniper hated when Clarke just ran off, she needed to explain things.
"Clarke." Juniper hissed as she followed after Clarke, trying to keep quiet.
"Langston. Langston." Clarke whispered as Juniper watched her try to walk up the unconscious man. "What are they doing to him?" Clarke whispered and Juniper squinted her eyes. How was she meant to know?
"Clarke, explain." Juniper asked as she tried to figure out what her best friend said.
"When I saw him, he was exposed to so much radiation that he was going to die, look at him now." Clarke explained as she pointed down to his body, their was barely any radiation marks left on him.
"He barely has any." Juniper whispered and Clarke took down his hospital gown.
"It's got something to do with this." Clarke said as she pointed at this thing in chest. Juniper looked at it closely.
"What is that?" Juniper asked before she looked up at Clarke.
"It's a dialysis shunt. They all have them in case of exposure." Clarke explained as the girls watched it work. One tube had blood seeping out of his body, and another tube had blood coming into his body. "But more importantly, where does it lead to?" Clarke asked as she started to follow the tubes around the room.
"How is this going to help us escape?" Juniper asked and Clarke just ignored her. Juniper could not tell if Clarke was concentrated or annoyed with her after the things that Juniper said. "Clarke, I think we should talk about the things I said, I never meant them, I just needed us to fight." Juniper said holding onto Clarke's hand.
"I know." Clarke smiled sincerely. "I am sorry about Bellamy." Clarke said as she hugged onto Juniper. Juniper thought about staying in Mount Weather at that point, she thought to herself, 'what do I have left?'. Her Mom, and her Mom was a prisoner in Mount Weather. But, at the same time, she had Clarke, she had the people who fell from The Ark, she had her Dad, maybe, not that she really wanted to speak to her. She also had the necklace from Bellamy, she needed to get it back. She could not lose the only thing left of Bellamy.
"Thanks." Juniper whispered as they broke out of the hug. Juniper quickly wiped away her tears as she watched Clarke pull on a locked door.
"Now help me get this door open." Clarke groaned as she shook the door to get it open. Juniper saw the key card panel beside it and side, there was no way they were getting in.
"There has got to be another way in." Juniper sighed as she looked up and saw a vent. "Clarke, look." Juniper said as she pulled off the vent's door. It fell with a smack. "Oops." Juniper whispered awkwardly as Clarke sighed. There were trying their best not to get caught, Juniper needed to stop being a clutz.
"Boost me up." Clarke said as she held onto the vent. Juniper furrowed her eyebrows.
"Why me?" Juniper asked, why couldn't Clarke not boost her up.
"Cause you are taller." Clarke said as if it was obvious. Juniper sighed as she held out her hands to boost Clarke up.
"By one inch." Juniper stated as she slowly got Clarke into the vest. Clarke turned around slowlly in the vent. "Now, help me up." Juniper smirked as she held up her arms and Clarke pulled her up. They jumped out the other side of the vent. "Oh my god." Juniper whispered in shock.
They were just looking at two people, hung upside down as their blood was being drained from them. Behind the two people, there was hundred and maybe thousands of cages filled to the brim with people. Some cages were even hanging from the ceiling. It was insane.
"What is this place?" Clarke asked as they walked deeper in. Juniper inspected someone and saw the tattoos up their arms, they were Grounders. They were draining Grounders blood, that was how they were able to metabolize radiation slightly.
"Clarke, this is Grounders." Juniper stated but there was no answer from Clarke. As she walked further in, she saw Clarke looking into a cage.
"Juni, it's Anya." Clarke whispered as she saw Juniper. Juniper ran over and looked in the cage. Anya looked broken and weak, her blood had definitely been drained.
"Why are they doing this to them?" Clarke asked before she looked into Anya's eyes. "We are going to get you out of here." Clarke promised Anya.
"Them, like us, can metabolize radiation through their blood. So their blood is useful." Juniper explained and then it all made sense to her, what her Mom was trying to tell her. "Which means we are too, Clarke they could start doing this to our people. We need to get them out of here, my Mom. This was her warning." Juniper rambled on as everything started to make sense.
"We need to leave now." Clarke stated and Juniper shook her head.
"I'm not leaving here without my Mom." Juniper stated as she stood her ground.
"We can't leave this room, we can't get to your Mom but we can save her once we get reinforcements." Clarke explained and Juniper got angry, if she could not take her Mom then she sure as hell was going to free someone else. Juniper looked into the cages and saw a boy in the one next to Anya. He looked no older than twenty, he had tattoos all up his arm and was pleasing to the eye. But not Juniper's, Juniper could only think about Bellamy.
"Fine, then we take him." Juniper said as she pointed to the boy next to Anya.
"Why?" Clarke asked as she sighed. she hated when Juniper did these kinds of radical things. They were wasting time, time they could have used escaping.
"He's strong, he has hardly any bandages." Juniper explained and Clarke looked at him. Juniper was right, he looked the strongest one out of them all. He would be useful if they needed to fight their way out.
"Fine." Clarke answered and Juniper smirked at the boy as Clarke went off to find something that could pry open the cages.
"It's your lucky day." Juniper stated as Clarke pried Anya's lock open before handing the crowbar to Juniper. Juniper unlocked the cage just as Dr. Tsing entered the harvest chamber.
"Get back in!" Clarke hissed as she shoved Anya into the cage before getting in. Juniper sighed before she got into the cage with the boy, she was practically sitting on him.
"Juniper." Juniper introduced as she heard Dr. Tsing get closer and closer to them.
"Archer." Archer introduced and even is voice was beautiful. Juniper ignored him as she peered out of the cage and watched Dr. Tsing run off. The Grounders in the cages had clearly
"Come on." Juniper said as she got out of the cage, just as Clarke and Anya did. Archer threw Juniper up against a cage and held onto her.
"Na oso trust emo, Anya?" Archer asked if he could trust the girls to Anya in trigedasleng. Anya shook her head.
"Nou oso na't." Anya answered in trigedasleng. Juniper pushed Archer off angrily before she held up her finger.
"You can trust us." Juniper promised as she pointed to her and Clarke. Clarke looked at them frantically.
"We've gotta go, now!" Clarke shouted as all four of them tried to find a door out. Clarke was holding onto one side of Anya whilst Archer held onto the other.
Juniper found a sign that said this was the end of safety, basically on the other side was radiation. Which meant the real world. Juniper opened up the door and all four of them ran in. The door began to close just as an alarm sounded.
"What is that?" Anya asked panting steadily as Juniper looked around the room. They were trapped.
"I was not brought out of that cage to die." Archer stated as he glared at Juniper.
"You are not going to di-" Juniper began to say before all four of them lost the ground under their feet. They screamed as they were thrown down the trash chute and onto a mass of dead bodies.
"Oh my god." Juniper hissed loudly as she saw that she had fallen on dying people's body. Clarke just shrieked as she finally got out. That fall hurt Juniper's leg even more so Archer offered to take her out of the skip. Anya took Clarke's hand and they leapt out of the cart.
"We're out." Clarke sighed before she saw there was clothes by the wall of the tunnel. "Hey come on, get dressed. We won't cover any ground like this." Clarke instructed as she walked over to the clothes.
"I won't leave my people behind." Anya said and Clarke moved back to her.
"Anya listen to me, my people are still inside there. But they have guards they have weapons once we're out we can find help and come back and get them." Clarke reassured and Anya took a step back.
"There is no "we"." Anya stated and Juniper looked in shock as she saw a light and people coming towards them.
"Someone's coming." Juniper hissed and Clarke looked over to see who it was.
"Not just someone, Reapers." Clarke stated worried, Juniper had never seen a Reaper before, but she had heard stories of them.
"Hey, Anya, you can't fight you can hardly stand." The girls heard Archer say as they watched Anya try to pick up a rock and fight them off.
"I have a better idea come on." Juniper instructed as she jumped into the cart as the rest of them followed in suit. They all pretended they were dead. Juniper flinched as she watched a body thrown onto Clarke. Soon enough, more bodies were thrown on them before the cart was wheeled away.
Five minutes later, the cart stopped and The Reapers hauled out a half-dead body. Clarke waited about ten seconds before she peered her head out. All they could hear was screams and screams. The Reapers were killing the body they hauled out first. That was going to be the fate of all of people in the cart.
"Come on." Clarke instructed as Juniper and Archer both followed after her. Anya was holding onto a half-dead Grounder. "Anya what are you doing, let's go." Clarke hissed and Anya looked down at the man.
"Yu gonplei ste odon." Anya said in tridasleng, which means 'your fight is over'. After Anya mercy-killed the Grounder, the four of them took some spare clothes they found and ran off. They found a quiet spot where they quickly got changed before running off again.
"Damn it! This place is a maze!" Clarke cursed because it felt as if they had been running for hours but ending up in the same spot.
"What are they doing to us?" Anya asked curiously.
"They use your blood. Clarke saw a soldier come in with radiation burns, hours later he was fine. It's like your blood is healing them because we can metabolize radiation." Juniper explained.
"I've never seen anything like it." Clarke stated as she saw another way out. "Come on this way!" Clarke instructed as her and Juniper started running, but they realized the other two were not following. "Hey what are you doing? That's the way back to the Reapers." Clarke asked confused, the girls thought all four of them were leaving together.
"You both go your way, we'll go ours." Archer instructed and Clarke shook her head.
"We need to stick together." Clarke stated.
"I did not save you for you to leave us." Juniper argued with Archer as she got defensive.
"You killed our brothers, our fathers, our uncles." Archer said back and Juniper just scoffed.
"You killed the man I love, my friends, yet I still saved you." Juniper stated back and Archer looked at her with sympathy almost. He displayed his weakness to her.
"I told you there is no "we"." Anya groaned as she was getting impatient with the girls.
"I saved your life." Clarke argued back thinking that would mean something.
"You saved because you need me. I know the way back to your people, I know where all the traps are hidden. You'd never make it alone." Anya sneered and Juniper was not going to let anybody talk to her best friend like that.
"She's not alone, she has me." Juniper stated as she rolled up the jackets sleeves. Anya took a step forward and Clarke yanked Juniper around to face the way that she was facing.
"We don't have time for this. Our best chance to get out of here alive is together. All we can doing is keep moving and hope-" Clarke began to say before Juniper sighed as she turned around. They had gone. Clarke looked annoyed as she began calling their names.
"Leave them, we've got this." Juniper reassured as they began to run in their own direction. They kept on running until they saw Reapers come up one side of the tunnel, they turned to go back but Reapers were coming after them. Soon enough, the best friends were surrounded.
"No. Please!" Clarke begged and Juniper looked at the Reapers repulsed. They did not look like Grounders, they looked like demons. The radiation from Dooms Day had clearly messed around with their bone structure.
"Clarke." Juniper scared as she held onto Clarke's hand. Just as the reapers got closer to them, a screeching noise made the Reapers fall back in pain. Juniper and Clarke looked in the direction it was coming from and saw Mount Weather Guards coming there way. They were finished, they had failed.
"Get back! Get away from them now!" The Guard shouted as the noise came from a weird machine, how were they able to control the Reapers with a sound. What the hell was Mount Weather doing was all that Juniper could think about. "Clarke Griffin, Juniper Green, you're coming with us." The Guard instructed as Guards grabbed onto Juniper and Clarke, both girls started to struggle. The Guards were leading them back to the Harvest Chamber.
"I saw everything, I know what you're doing to them." Clarke taunted as Juniper nodded her head in the background.
"That's why you're going in the Harvest Chamber with them." The Guard replied and Juniper shook her head in response. There was now way she was going to be doing that. "Alpha building two, we've reached the intake, one prisoner in custody." The Guard said into the door's microphone.
"Your mission was to bring back both of them. The outsider can not leave this base. Alpha one is coming out now." The Guard from the opposite side of the door scolded and Juniper just giggled at the Guards.
"Oh no, looks like you four are in trouble." Juniper sang sinisterly as she laughed up at the guards. They looked down at Juniper, just as Anya and Archer jumped down onto the Guards and started wrestling them. Juniper quickly kneed a Guard in the gut before tearing off his mask.
"Get his mask!" Juniper shouted at Archer just like Clarke shouted at Anya.
"I found a way out this way!" Anya shouted as she started to run. Clarke picked up one of the dead guard's gun and followed after Anya. As she lagged behind, Juniper quickly slipped a gun into her boot before she caught up with everyone else.
"Why did you come back?" Juniper asked Archer as she caught up with Archer, despite the pain in her ankle.
"Couldn't leave a pretty girl like you to be locked up in one of those cages." Archer teased as he ran even fast, swerving through the tunnels.
"How gentleman like." Juniper scoffed as she ran faster than him. Archer caught up laughing to himself. They all finally made it to the exit, which was a huge dam. Juniper shook her head.
"That's suicide." Juniper stated as Clarke shook her head as well.
"Wait there has to be another way!" Clarke said frantically as they heard the Guards catch up with them. Juniper's heart was beating like crazy, they were trapped.
"There isn't!" Anya shouted back as the Guards reached them.
"Give up girls, there's no place left to go." A Guard said speaking to only Clarke and Juniper. The girls looked at Archer and Anya who had all intentions of jumping. Anya looked at them before she jumped down. Clarke looked down in shock whilst Juniper glanced at Archer.
"I can't go back there, I'm free like a bird now." Archer grinned before he jumped off the cliff. Juniper looked down and swallowed, it was a big drop. One wrong move and she could end up with a broken bone. But, she could fly like the Red Robin inside of her. What would Red Robin do?
"We don't have to do this Clarke, Juniper, you hear me? Doesn't have to end like this." The Guard tried to reason with the girls. There was no way any of them were going into that harvest chamber.
"Clarke, let's just do what they say." Juniper whispered and Clarke nodded her head in return. Clarke dropped her gun as her and Juniper slowly walked towards them. Just as the Guards turned around to put their weapons away.
"Now." Clarke screamed and the pair of them ran off the side of the cliff and jumped into the Dam. Juniper opened up her arms and flew like the bird she was.
Juniper turned her head to see that Anya had thrown Clarke against the shore bed and Clarke began to cough up blood. Juniper tried to crawl over to her but she looked down at her tied hands. Archer and Anya had betrayed Clarke and Juniper.
"Clarke." Juniper whispered as Clarke began to sit up, completely oblivious to Juniper tied up as she sat down next to Archer.
"I think we should go back to the dropship first. So we can see if our-" Clarke began to say before Anya whacked her over the head with a rock. Juniper winced as she tried to wriggle from the ties. Clarke looked over at Juniper as Anya began to tie up Clarke.
"They aren't taking us back to the dropship, Clarke. They need us to pay from the crimes." Juniper stated coldly as she looked over at Archer. He was trying not to lock eye-contact with her, he clearly felt bad her.
Juniper used to think that they were nothing left to live for after the loss of Bellamy, but not that she knows that her Mom is alive and in danger, Juniper knew that she would stop at nothing to get her Mom back.
