A crazy vacation

Hello everyone and welcome to  the first chapter of my new chase x marshall book titled "Paw Patrol:The Holy Veil. This is a chapter that I thought I'd make. In this book the paw patrol looks for the veil of veronica. The veil of veronica is a holy christian relic that is a cloth with the face of jesus. It was created via a miracle when Saint Veronica wiped the face of Jesus during his crucifixion and it left the face of Jesus on it. It has since been lost but in this book the pups will try to find it. So buckle your seatbelts because this book is going to be an adventure.

It was a beautiful day in Los Angeles. Chase and Marshall were on their 4 year anniversary. It was June 12th 2026. It was 7:30 pm and they were at a special dog bar called El manos. They were having some drinks and having a good time. It was calm and everyone was relaxed and happy.

I Can't believe it's our four year anniversary. Time really flies. Chase said to Marshall. He looked at Marshall. He was wearing a white shirt and some special black dog sneakers. I know. It felt like last year we got married and it still hasn't sunk in that it's been four years. Marshall agreed with Chase. Chase smiled as he reached for his drink, and Marshall turned to see the sun slowly disappearing from their view. "Beautiful sunset, don't you think?" Marshall asked Chase. The said pup turned around and he too saw the sun setting in the sky. They looked at the majestic beauty that was the sun setting. The Colors of orange, Red, Yellow and purple filled the sky as they looked in awe. Watching The sunset reminded Chase and Marshall of how they would see the sunset on the beach and talk about their life. And there was a time where they talked on the pier. Them talking about the fears they had. But even then they had each other to comfort and hold up. Watching the sunset reminded him of those times. Marshall looked over to chase and tapped his shoulder. Chase looked over to Marshall as he began to speak. "We should get going soon. It is getting late." Marshall said with a bit of rushing tone. It was obvious that he wanted to get out of there. Chase noted Marshall's tone and nodded and called the waitress over. He then gave the waiter his money as he paid for the drinks and they quickly left.

Chase and Marshall were walking down Ocean Ave and Chase noted that Marshall was jogging. Chase was keeping up. As he was doing that he was obviously very worried. "Slow down Marshall." Chase said as they ran down Seaside Terrence. "We are almost there, chasey. Just a little longer." Marshall said happily. Soon enough they arrived at the Santa Monica beach. It was there that they stopped. Marshall then sat down and patted the ground Which signaled Chase to sit down which Chase did so. "What's with all the jogging? Is everything alright?" Chase asked as he ran out of breath, then sat down next to Marshall. "Of course, it is." Marshall reassured him. The waves tumbling over the sand and Chase's exhausted breaths were the only sounds Marshall heard. Then he turned toward the sunset and breathed in the fresh air. "So why were you in such a rush to be here?" Chase asked as he turned his head towards Marshall. "Oh, I just wanted a perfectly clear view of the sun." Marshall replied. Chase smiled and snickered under his breath as turned to see the sunset. "Besides, there's one last thing we haven't done yet that we almost haven't done today." Marshall spoke. "And that is?" Chase asked as finally regained his breath. Marshall got up and stood in front of Chase and held out his paw. Chase switched his eyes between Marshall's paw and his blue eyes. Marshall raised his eyebrows and nodded his head, believing Chase knew what he wanted to do. But he only raised one eyebrow. "A dance, Chase?" Marshall spoke, then the penny dropped for Chase. "Oh, sorry." Chase laughed in embarrassment. Chase grabbed Marshall's paw and Marshall pulled him up until all four of his paws rested on the sand. Both of their eyes looked up and met the other's. "Happy anniversary, Chase." Marshall softly spoke. "Happy anniversary too, Marshall." Chase softly replied. As the two exchanged smiles, Chase wrapped his right paw gently around Marshall's waist and Marshall held Chase's right arm. Then they held each other's remaining paw in the air and began stepping in one direction then another, and slowly turned as they went. Both of their hearts skipped with glee and their eyes never lost contact. Their paws were untroubled by the dry sand beneath and brushed it to the side as they danced in the setting sunlight. As Marshall allowed Chase to lead him in his steps, his mind flashed the past before him.

The day that I met you

The world had just spit me out

On my way to the bottom

Sure I'd never be found

Marshall closed his eyes and felt his past breeze through him. Though he could still feel his loving husband guiding him, he relived the times of his past that he cherished or regretted. But then he could sense a hand draped in void black reaching out with a wicked desire to grab him, but then he felt being turned around by his paw. He opened his eyes to see Chase keeping him close as they danced on through the final hours of their anniversary.

Then you saw me for me

Made me believe in myself

On the day that I met you

It all turned around

Chase repositioned his paw back on Marshall's back and the two repeated their first steps.

As they came to a halt after their romanticizing dance, Chase and Marshall gave each other glittering looks before leaning in for a kiss to put a close to their dance. Their bodies were close to each other as they danced. Chase and Marshall were on their back legs attempting to dance their hearts away. Chase moved his left paw forwards followed by his right paw He then moved his right paw to the right followed by his left. They looked at each other and held each other closely. Then Chase moved his left paw back followed by his right paw. Chase then moved his left paw left, followed by his right paw and after that Chase twirled around with Marshall while Marshall followed Chase's lead as they continued to dance in a state of ecstasy and love. Marshall then took hold of chase and lightly pulled chase and held onto his back as he lifted him towards him Marshall brushed Chase's fur and kissed him passionately. After that he lifted Chase up and held him in the air for a bit as he held him for a bit before letting him down in the position they were before. After that we went back to what they were doing before. Right and left foot forwards, then right, then back, then left. And they continued to do it throughout the night. The moon had already begun its climb to the top of the sky. Chase and Marshall slowly made their way back to the hotel. "That was a lovely dance." Chase complimented. "Why thank you." Marshall replied. "I'd say that was a very romanticizing way to end the night of our fourth anniversary." Chase added. "I had been saving that moment for the right time." Marshall pointed out. Chase turned to Marshall who gave a loving smile to his husband as they walked on. The journey back to the hotel was calm, then suddenly Chase and Marshall heard a male voice scream from behind. "Give me your money! Every last coin on you!" The voice demanded. Chase and Marshall spun around to see a man wielding a knife in his hand, tight fisted around the handle with no intention to drop the weapon of choice. Chase jumped in front of Marshall and snarled in defense. "Sir, drop the knife." Chase tried to reason. "No chance." The man answers back. Chase locked his eyes on the man and hoped that a blade wasn't the first thing he'd come into contact with. Then with one breath of air, Chase lunges at the man and snaps his jaws on the man's hand like a venus flytrap. He saw the knife fall onto the walkway and heard growls from the man. The man charged Chase with malicious intent. He grabbed Chase and threw him to the ground and started to beat him  but Chase kicked the guy in the stomach knocking the wind out of him. He then gets up and proceeds to punch the guy. Right hooking him at least 5 times before the guy responded with a kick to the leg knocking chase down a bit. Marshall tried to intervene and grabbed the guy. He proceeded to punch the guy in the chest 6 times but he was suddenly punched in the face which knocked him down. Chase saw this and growled in rage. "You'll pay for that you bastard" he screamed as he charged the guy. He jumped on the guy. Firing burning in his eyes and rage built up in him. He tackled the guy and proceeded to viciously beat him. punch after punch after punch he struck the man in the head until the man was knocked out. He then got up and spit on him in disgust. He then ran over to marshall and picked him up and he was starting to come too.. Chase carried Marshall down the street as he tried to find help. Chase then saw a sheriff's deputy running towards him. Chase yelled to him. "I need help. My Husband and I were attacked by a man with a knife. He was trying to rob us. I knocked him out though. He was a white male who was about 25 years old. He was 6 '1 and wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts, black socks and black nike sneakers. He was at Venice Boardwalk a few blocks down." Chase said frantically. The officer looked at Chase and petted him. "It's ok.. We will get your friend help and arrest the suspect." The officer said as he got on his radio. "This is Adam 181 We have a  211 and 245 at venice beach. Suspect is a 25 year old white male. He is 6'1 and wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts, white socks and black nike sneakers. Suspect is armed with a knife but is knocked out. Show me on scene. Requesting multiple 32's. Over" the officer said into the radio. A few seconds later the radio dispatcher responded. "Copy. All available units we have are 245 and 211 at the Venice boardwalk." the dispatcher said as multiple units said they were responding. The officer watched the suspect as he checked on Marshall. Soon sirens appeared and officer officers arrived. Chase noticed that the guy was getting up and going for the knife. "He's going for the knife." Chase yelled out. 'The officers noticed this and drew their guns on him. One officer deployed his taser and the suspect went down. 3 officers went over to the guy. One cuffed him, the others helped hold him down. One officer even had his knee on the suspect's back and had a gun to his back and was yelling at him not to move. The officers then called an ambulance which arrived quickly. The emt's put Marshall in the ambulance and asked him multiple questions. Chase was by his side and hugging him as they drove to the hospital. Soon they arrived at the Santa Monica Medical Center emergency room. Chase waited with bated breath for the news on his husband's recovery path. His heart raced faster than ever, his paws began fiddling with the other. Then a doctor wearing a white coat, a purple tie, and black trousers exited the operation room. Chase got up and stared at the doctor with raised eyebrows. "Is he okay, doctor?" Chase asked. "He's performing well. We might need to keep him overnight, just to keep an eye on him." The doctor reported. Chase sighed in relief. Then a little question popped into his head. He knew it was one little question, but a question he couldn't take no for. "Could I see him?" Chase asked. "Sure thing, but you only have a couple of minutes." The doctor answered. Chase nodded and headed toward Marshall's room. Chase knocked on the door and gently pushed it open. He squeezed through the gap he made with the door, then turned to see the state Marshall was in. Marshall had bandage plastered over his nose in which blood slightly seeped through, and another bandage wrapped around his head. The sight of his husband in a hospital bed struck alarm into Chase's heart, let alone the bandages around his head. He closed the door behind him once he had fully entered the room, then proceeded to carefully creep toward the bed. Chase could only hear the reverberation of his paws tapping the floor with each step he took. As he stood in touching distance between himself and Marshall, Chase extended a paw up to Marshall's and softly held on to it. He looked at the machines he was hooked up to and was thankful that it wasn't too many. Chase teared up because he knew that his husband was hurt and he was scared. He knew that he would be ok but he was worried about Marshall because of his condition Chase looked at and hugged him. "I'm sorry that I couldn't stop this from happening." Chase cried as he held onto marshall. Chase went to Marshall's face and kissed him. He let go and turned around. But then he heard a groan. Chase whipped his body around as looked at Marshall.. He seemed to be moving a bit.. Chase rushed over to see this for himself. Chase looked at Marshall as he slowly opened his eyes.. He groaned because of the lights being bright to him. "ow ww my eyes.. Where--" Marshall said but was unable to finish because he got tackled by Chase. He groaned in pain as he felt the impact which hurt because of him being sore because of the previous events and response to this he yelped.. Chase heard this and got off him. "Im sorry marshall." he said as he lightly hugged Marshall which thankfully didn't hurt. Marshall hugged him back and stared at him in awe.. He looked horrible. He had bags under his eyes and looked tired."what happened.." Marshall asked in a worried tone. "You got knocked out. A guy tried to mug us but we fought him. He punched you and knocked you out but I knocked him out and alerted the Police. And now we are here" Chase said in anger.Marshall looked at Chase with a surprised look. And then the memories all flooded in. He remembered.. He teared up at the thought of what happened. Chase noticed this and hugged him. He went over and kissed him on the lips. "It's ok sweetheart. He got arrested and can't hurt you. You Don't have to worry about that douchebag anymore." Chase said as he growled the last part. Marshall had never really seen Chase this mad except for when he got kidnapped by harold. And that led to Chase killing Harold. Marshall, who was worried about Chase hugged him and comforted him as they both cried. The hurt was being released and now they would heal. Chase got off marshall and stared at him. Then the doctor came in and went to Chase.. "I'm sorry to say this but visiting time is over. You will have to leave.. I'm sorry." the doctor said calmly. Chase nodded and turned to marshall and kissed him. "I'll see you later. I love you.. Bye" Chase said as Marshall kissed him back. Chase then walked out of the room and out of the hospital. Chase called an uber and took the uber to his hotel room. A straight face with the outer eyebrows overlapping his eyes was the facial expression he had on him all the way to the hotel. His jaw hung ajar to which the inside of his mouth nearly dried up. Chase walked straight through the lobby, rode up the elevator and headed to his room without a sound or greeting. He slowly waddled to the bedside and checked the clock at the side. 9:57 pm. Chase got ready for bed, climbed on to the mattress and rested his head against the pillows. His eyes had not blinked since he departed from the hospital. It wasn't the noise of the couple next door arguing or the blaring horns from the streets outside that kept Chase awake, someone close to him was missing. Resting away on another bed that Chase wasn't on. The thought circulated around his head for some time. He rolled his head to the side, then saw that the clock said 10:21 pm. Chase felt the hours go by as he tried to get sleep. Then he heard mechanical beeps echo in the distance. He raised himself up and turned to the door. 3:00 am the clock then showed. The beeps became louder and faster, then shouting faded into the noise. With a heart beating at the speed of sound, Chase slowly got up from his bed and snuck to the door. "Quickly, he's going into cardiac arrest." A voice with a ghostly echo hurried. Chase raised an eyebrow and swung open the door. His paws froze in place as he exited his room. Instead of a luxurious hallway, Chase looked around to find himself in a bright hallway with metal trollies and portable beds parked alongside the walls. "How did I get here?" Chase whispered to himself in dismay. He looked back to see his room had disappeared without trace. Chase felt a void opening up in his stomach. "Are you Chase, husband of Marshall, if I might ask?" A ghostly voice asked. Chase looked around in the hallway, searching for where the voice came from. Not a body was around. "Where am I? What's going on? Where's Marshall?" Chase cried out in defense. He pulled back his lips to reveal his enraged teeth, ready to strike anything down that threatened him. "All in good time, Chase." The voice returned. The said pup spun around to see a doctor standing in the middle of the hallway, with his hands behind his back. "He's right this way. And a chance to repent your sins." The doctor spoke with a menacing tone. Still keeping his guard up, Chase tilted his head on the doctor's last words before he wandered off down the hallway. Chase slowly followed the doctor down the hallway. He felt his heart dreading as he pushed on. His lungs pulsed and his legs became jelly. As he came to a corner, the screaming became louder and recognisable for Chase. Like he knows the voice like the back of his paw... "Marshall!" He called out. He ran around the corner and saw double doors with circular windows at the end. Chase skidded to a halt and peaked through one of the windows. He saw Marshall in his bed whilst surrounded by surgeons, covered in surgery gear from head to toe. To the side in clear view for Chase, the heart rate monitor sped up and Chase tried to enter. The doors clanked without a single gap opening up. Chase tried again but the doors wouldn't budge. Suddenly, a steady tone ringed in his ears. He slowly peaked through the window and observed the heart rate monitor. Flatline. Chase's pupils shrunk to the size of a pea and his eyes widened on first notice, then began to douse in tears. He punched the door several times before resting his head on the unshattered window. "It's all my fault!" Chase cried. "I was meant to protect him with my life! It should've been me in his place! It's all my bloody FAULT!" He punched the doors with both his paws one last time, before noticing all the surgeons around Marshall's lifeless body were staring at him. As they raised their hands and pointed at him, Chase heard illusory voices chant "Dies irae, dies illa, Solvet saeclum in favilla". "Have you repent your sins yet?" The same ghostly voice asked from behind Chase. He turned around to see the doctor leaned over Chase with a scalpel gripped in his hand. Chase let out a scream as he raised himself out from the covers of his bed. Chase looked around in fear and saw that he was back in his room. He looked at the time. It was 6:59 am. He sighed and got up. He went into the bathroom and brushed his teeth. He then got into the shower and showered. He then  dried off and changed his bandages. He then went out and went to dunkin. He got a sausage egg and cheese on an english muffin and a glazed donut. As he ate while walking down the road he looked around. He
Saw a lot of stores and restaurants but not much to do. He then got an idea. There is a "Madam Tussauds" in LA. they would go there. Chase walked down the road smoothly as we looked at the sights. He was walking by restaurants and stores but nothing stood out. Then he walked onto oceans ave and then route one.. We walked down there and looked at the ocean. Even though he was sad, looking at the beach made him feel at ease. He saw the people enjoying themselves.. People even walked up to him and showed sympathy for him and apologized for what happened. Chase obviously told them that it was no one's fault but the criminal's fault. Chase soon reached the spot where they danced.. He sat there and teared up.. His brain  raced because of the thoughts of what happened. The thoughts  flooded his mind and caused him pain. He looked at the ocean and cried. People obviously took notice and comforted him saying that marshall would be ok. Despite those words he still felt sad. Chase talked about the moments that they had and the life they lived in Florida and that despite being happy that the paw patrol was back together he still missed the time that he and Marshall had together alone. The intimate moments, The happy times, The beach that they went to. But still despite all that he still loved the pups and cared about them and was happy to have them back. Even if he missed florida. The people were pretty stoked about the moments he talked about and that despite some hiccups like Chase getting mad at  Marshall and him almost dying of alcohol intoxication. Despite that Chase still made it up to marshall. Chase then got a call and walked away and answered. "Hello this is Chase. How May I help you?". Chase said in a now happy tone. "Hello this is Doctor Thomas with the Santa Monica Medical Center emergency room. I am calling about Marshall Dally. You are his husband right?.' The doctor said calmly. Chase looked at the phone and responded.. "Yeah I am. Is he ok?" Chase asked nervously. The doctor coughed which made Chase worried.. 'Helloo." Chase said before being interrupted. "I'm here. Sorry I had to clear my throat. Your husband is fine.. He is being released today at 1:00 pm. I just need you to come down before he is discharged so I can explain the release plan and how you  can take care of him." The doctor said calmly. Chase sighed a sigh of relief and smiled. "Ok.. I will be there at 12:20." Chase said. Suddenly the doctor laughed a bit. Chase was confused until the doctor spoke again., 'you are very eager to get your friend out of here.. You really love him don't you? I've been married for 6 years and have 2 kids. I know how it feels to be in love.  So I will see you at 12:20. Just enter through the main lobby and they will direct you to the ICU." The doctor said as Chase nodded and jumped for joy! "Yes, I will see you there.. Thank You doctor!" Chase said as walked back to his hotel room. "Your welcome.. See you there chase '' the doctor said as he hung up. Chase then ran as fast as he could to the hotel room While yelling that Marshall was coming back to the hotel with him. People yelled happily and clapped as the chase ran by. Chase then arrived at the hotel and stopped in the loppy and panted. He was out of breath and tired. He slowly walked to his hotel room and laid down. Today was going to be ok.. His heart raced in jubilation and his mind could not slow down. He looked up to the clock and it read 9:48 am. Plenty of time, he thought to himself. He rested his head back down and waited for the time to pass by. He felt his smile being cemented onto his face as he waited. His heart had relaxed but his mind hadn't. Then Chase saw the clock at 10 on the dot. Feeling the excitement rush back into his veins, Chase jumped back onto all four of his paws and headed into the bathroom. He hopped into the shower and washed himself after his nightmare sweat overnight. He then dried himself and sat down as the clock slowly ticked towards the 11th hour. As he waited he was looking at photos of him and Marshall and he teared up. It was 2 photos of them in Las  Vegas on their honeymoon. They were hanging out at the poker room at the bellagio hotel. Chase had just won against 5 other people. He started playing poker in 2018 and never stopped even after the paw patrol ended.he was actually pretty good. And that night he won 3 games and won $13400. One of them was both of them behind a pile of poker chips. The next one was them in bed making out with a pile of money in the background. He remembered that and cried. The night earlier Chase had now $5600 in poker chips so between the two of them they had $19000. He remembered how they split it and went out and got drunk. They were having the night of their lives and when they got home they had a little ''fun" during that time at their hotel. It was the best week of their lives but now their honeymoon turned into a nightmare and the chase was broken beyond belief because of what happened. He couldn't stop Marshall from getting hurt. It was his fault.. These thoughts went through Chase's head as he audibly cried tears of sadness and pain. Chase then looked at the clock. It was 11:40. He had to get going. Chase grabbed his car keys and exited his room. He walked down the hall as he looked at the crimson red  walls of the place. He reached the front desk and waved to the receptionist. He then exited the hotel and breathed in the air. It smelled of the ocean. A nostalgic smell for him. It reminded him of Adventure Bay except he was at a popular tourist site. Chase walked over into this car and unlocked the door. He then got in the car and put the cra into drive and drove off. As he drove he looked at the sites of Santa monica. It was pretty cool to be there. Soon he reached the hospital. He parked in the parking garage and entered the hospital and went to the check area. "Hello, I am looking for my husband. Marshall Dally" Chase said in a calm voice. "Ok let me see something  real quick." The person behind the desk looked up Marshall's name on the computer. "Ah yes he is in room 4444. That is on floor 4. You can walk down the hall to the left and go to elevator B and take it up to the 4th floor then you will be there." The lady said with a kind voice. Chase walked down the hall. He saw the elevator and went over and gently pressed up the.. After waiting about a minute the door opened and he entered.. Chase was nervous, Chase was scared. He was worried about taking him home because he was worried about something happening. But he had to stay strong. For Marshall. Chase then pressed the number 4 button and the doors closed and the elevator went up. After what seemed like ages, even hours, the elevator stopped and the doors opened. Chase then calmly but nervously walked out and went over to the check in desk to let them know he was there to pick Marshall up. "Hello I'm here to pick up Marshall Dally. I was supposed to be here for his discharge.. My name is Chase Shepherd." Chase said very nervously. The nurse stared at him and typed in the computer. After a few seconds she looked at him and responded. "Ah yes, come with me Mr shepherd." the nurse said as they walked over to Marshall's room. After the horse knocked She opened the door and they both entered. Marshall looked at Chase and smiled in happiness. Chase walked over to him and hugged him. He also kissed him on the muzzle for good measure. "Hey baby, how are you doing?" Chase asked him in a very nervous tone. "I'm doing better now that I can go home. And I can tell you're worried. Don't worry baby, I will be fine." Marshall said as he kissed Chase again. The nurse then coughed and they looked over. "Oh sorry about that," Chase mumbled. "It's quite alright. I'm happy that you both can go home and rest. Now here is the Form sheet that you have to fill out. By signing you agree that You are able to take care of yourself and manage any injuries that you have on your own and that you consent to leaving the hospital. There are 2 sheets. The first one we keep for record and the 2nd you get to keep and will have instruction on taking care of yourself." the nurse said to marshall as she handed Marshall the flipboard. He and Chase read over the medical steps needed to take care of himself and Marshall signed the sheets. She then took the one sheet and gave him the other one. "Ok Mr dally you are good to go. Just please take care of yourself." She said to him, caringly. Marshall slowly made his way out of his room with Chase following behind. He then paused in the middle of the hallway, staring down into emptiness that lay ahead of him. Chase stood at a side feeling a hint of worry filling up in his legs, then his fearless boyfriend marched onward. The worry drained away and the corners of his lips raised in relief. "Thanks for everything, nurse." He spoke then caught up to him. They rode down the elevator and left the building. Already, Marshall felt the stimulating air through his nostrils. "Can't remember the last time I felt a breeze of air flowing through me." Marshall said. Chase looked at Marshall and smiled. "It's been quite a while but now we can go home." Chase said as he hugged Marshall causing him to blush. , and beautiful moments that would remain etched in their hearts forever. As they packed their bags and got ready to head back to Adventure Bay, there was an undeniable sense of contentment and gratitude that enveloped them. Their journey together had been filled with adventures, both big and small, challenges they had overcome, and love that had only grown stronger with time. This anniversary had been a perfect reminder of the love and connection they shared, reaffirming their commitment to each other. Before leaving their hotel room, Chase took Marshall's paw in his and looked deeply into his eyes. "Thank you for the most incredible four years of my life," Chase said, his voice filled with emotion. Marshall squeezed Chase's paw affectionately. "And thank you for being the love of my life," he replied, his own voice equally heartfelt. With smiles that spoke volumes and hearts intertwined, they left their hotel room, ready to face whatever adventures lay ahead in Adventure Bay. As they walked hand in hand towards their next chapter, Chase and Marshall knew that their love would continue to light their way, no matter where their adventures took them.
