Chapter 15

“Sirius get off the table,” James said.

Across the room, Lily was trying to reason with an equally drunk Remus. “Rem, come on. Please.”

Remus who was sitting on top of a bookshelf giggled and took another swig from the Firewhiskey bottle. “No.”

“No! NO No No!” James shouted. “Sirius put your shirt back on!” Sirius made a point to throw his discarded shirt at James.

“Where did they even get the alcohol?” Lily cried.
James just shrugged. “Probably the stash.”

“The stash!?” Lily gasped.

“Of all things to be concerned about, that's what captures your attention?” James said slightly exasperated.

Lily jabbed a finger at James, “This is not over!”

“Yeah, okay,” James nodded. “At least Wormy’s asleep.”
Peter was also hammered, but he was fast asleep on the floor in a half built into a pillow fort.

“This is our common room. The heads common room,” Lily grumbled. “I’m still mad at you for giving them the password.”

“I told you that Mary, Marlene and Alice were welcome at any time.” James said. He was now digging through the mess of blankets on the floor.

“They do, but when the girls come over they don’t wreck the entire head’s common room!” Lily cried.

“And what are you looking for?”

“Their wands.” James answered. “I do not need a drunk Sirius able to perform magic.”

“For your information!” Sirius slurred. “I am amazing at magic!”

As Lily and James kept up their search Remus giggled madly to himself. Lily turned around to face him, her hands on her hips.

“Remus, do you have something to tell us.”

“I’m a werewolf.” Remus cackled.

“Hilarious Moony. Real insightful.” James said sarcastically. “Aha!” He pulled out a piece of wood.

“Oh! You found it!” Sirius said hopping down from the table. He made his way towards the wand in James' hand.

“Absolutely not!” James shouted. He backed up several paces. “Okay, I have Wormy’s and Padfoot’s. Where is Remus’ wand?”

“Oh this old thing?” Remus questioned from utop his wooden throne. He was twirling his own wand above his head.

“Good one Moons!” Sirius cheered.

“Expelliarmus!” Lily cried. The wand flew out of Remus’ hand and she caught it mid-air. “Would you like to come down now?”

“Not particularly.” Remus replied.

“James,” Lily laughed. “I find it amazing that even when fall-over-drunk, Remus has a better vocabulary than you.”

“OOOOOOOOO!” Sirius roared from his spot on the couch.

“You’re not a very nice person.” James said moodily. “I’m levitating him down.”

“You do that.” Lily nodded. “Come on, Sirius. We’re going back to your common room.”

“No!” Sirius groaned. “Gryffindor tower is so far! I’m sleeping here.”

James was slowly levitating a stoic Remus to the floor.

“You are surprisingly good at that.” Remus said once he was set on the floor. “You know, for a Potter.”

“I’ll bash your brains in with my broom.” James muttered.

“No you wouldn’t!” Remus shouted, calling James’ bluff.

“You wouldn’t risk that kind of damage to your precious broomstick.”

“Stick them in the hall.” Lily suggested. “Let Flich deal with them.”

“Filch won’t do jack squat to us!” Sirius called, his voice was muffled from the pillows his face was stuffed in.

“I could owl Minnie.” James said slyly.
The smile faded from Remus’ face and he looked at James shocked. “You wouldn’t.”

“I would.”

“He’s bluffing!” Sirius bellowed.
Remus stared at James for a moment. “No he’s not.”

“Brilliant!” Lily cried. “Go to your common room.”

“I’m not moving!” Sirius shrieked.

“It’s one in the morning,” Lily whimpered, pounding her head on the wall. “You need to leave.”

“Evans,” James said gently. “Go to bed. I’ll deal with them.”

“You sure?” Lily asked.

“Yeah,” James nodded. “I got this.”

“Thankyouthankyouthankyou!” Lily cried. She gave James a quick hug around the neck before sprinting up the stairs to her room.

But she didn’t miss Sirius flopping over onto his back and looking up at James who was touching the spot on his cheek where Lily’s lips had brushed it.

“In your dreams Prongs.”
